PHE in the MYP: Episode 3: Key Concepts - What are they?
Dom and Everett talk about the 4 Key Concepts for MYP PHE, what they are, how they are used to frame the units of instruction, and how we use them in PHE.  The differences between Key Concepts and other models of concept driven instruction in the PHE program, such as Teaching Games for Understanding, are addressed.  While they are different concepts, these can be combined in instruction to develop a strong MYP PHE program.  In the next program, we look at the key concept of Change. PHE in the MYP: Episode 2: National Programs versus the IB. Same, Same, but Different
Dom and Everett compare and contrast their experience working with their national curriculums and the International Baccalaureate program.  Not all physical and health education programs are the same.  We begin to break down the key components of the IB program, with an emphasis on the Concepts, and discuss how these drive unit planning for educators.  In the next episode, we will discuss the Key Concepts for the MYP PHE program and how they differ from other ideas of “concepts” used in physical education programs.
