Locks to Legacies: Podcast Episode 1

10 young people uncovered 500 years of unknown Leeds history! They revealed a secret side of Leeds waterways and exposed histories never before shared. The Locks to Legacies project brought to life Leeds black history, and now they're releasing their first podcast episode about what this history means for the world today!

Locks to Legacies was a group of incredibly talented young people who met weekly last year at The Lock Keepers house in Leeds. The group were presented with new research from Heritage Corner regarding the hidden industry of Leeds and it's close ties to both transatlantic slavery and the movement for emancipation and abolishment. In response this group of young creatives developed an audio walk which can be found along the towpath by the Royal Armouries. Alternatively you can find it hosted on the Ignite website https://igniteyorks.org.uk/audio-walk/
