Sophia is entering a charity walkathon. Rose has volunteered the rest of the girls to babysit participants kids. The babysitting doesn't go too badly, but one baby named Emily doesn't get picked up. The girls have no idea who or where her parents are. They can't locate them and neither can the walkathon. They keep the baby overnight. Blanche bonds with her and sees her a second chance. She actually hopes that they will get to keep the baby. Does Blanche get her second chance or do Emily's parent(s) finally come to claim her?
Rose has been so busy helping others that she hasn't taken care of herself. She winds up collapsing and ends up in the hospital. Here she tells the girls she died and went to heaven and also got a message to live her live to the fullest. She takes up with a new group of friends, the beach crowd. She and the girls get in a fit and Rose moves out. Does Rose come back?
Sophia has a job and a saber, and Dorothy is not happy about either. Meanwhile, Patrick Vaughn is coming to town to be in their play, Our Town. Turns out Patrick Vaughn is not as sweet as he appears to be. He dates not only all three girls but most of the cast of the play. It all comes to a head opening night.
It's Sophia's birthday and Dorothy has a big surprise for her. She's bringing Sophia's sister Angela over from Sicily. However, the two sisters have been feuding for 30some years. The feud ruins the party and Dorothy is furious. She forces the two to talk and it turns into a massive fight. Are they able to work it out?
Christmas is coming. The ladies are all going home for Christmas. They have a small Christmas celebration at the house before leaving. Rose has to work Christmas Eve morning though so they have to pick her up at the counseling center. While waiting for her to finish a man in a Santa suit comes in and takes them hostage. He wants to have Christmas with them.
Rose is in a dry spell for dates. Blanche and Dorothy convince her to do a personals ad. She cautiously agrees. However, no one responds. Rose finally gets a letter and she is interested in it. However, Blanche confides in Dorothy that she wrote the letter. Dorothy helps Blanche continue the letters. However, when they decide he's going to move away, Rose looks up his name in the phone book and finds him and calls him to ask him out. Blanche and Dorothy don't find out until the night of the date. Is it a disaster?
Rose brings a lost dog home. Dorothy has a conniption fit about it. She's also upset because she is a on a ten week mandatory vacation and can't find a part time job. Blanche gets her on at the museum. However, Dorothy is assigned the closing banquet for Blanche's first ever art show. Blanche cannot control her anger and jealousy about the situation. The situation deteriorates rapidly until Sophia steps in.
The three ladies go on vacation while Sophia chooses to stay home. She wants to go out with the gardener. The ladies hate the hotel room. It's not what they paid for. They then discover they have to share a bathroom with three from another room. Later, all six go out on a sailing trip, but they wind up getting shipwrecked. Rose, of all people, takes charge. She was right though, the rock formation she sent the guys off too was a waterfall but it was also connected to a good hotel.
Dorothy's son Michael shows up out of the blue. Rose's daughter Bridget is also visiting before she heads off to Oxford. Blanche has also thrown her back out, but in an unexpected way. She winds up giving the two "kids" a pair of tickets to the Symphony. This leads to them do a lot more than just listening to music. It causes pandemonium in the house and everyone is fighting.
Big Daddy is coming to town and he has a surprise. He's getting married and she's younger. How will Blanche take it? Dorothy and Rose are entering a song writing contest about Miami as well. Do they win?
Dorothy's friend Jeanne is coming to visit. Her partner of 8 years passed away and she's struggling with the loss. Some of the girls are not aware that Jeanne is a lesbian. Each learns at a different time in the episode and reacts differently. But when Jeanne tells Dorothy she has fallen in love with Rose, Dorothy becomes very concerned and worried.
The city wants to widen the street the girls live on. To do so they have to remove a 200 year old oak tree on Mrs. Claxton's property. They start a petition to save the tree. Mrs. Claxton is the only one who won't sign the petition. They wind up having to go to a hearing of sorts of try and save the tree. Rose stands up to Mrs. Claxton in this hearing and Mrs Claxton suffers a heart attack and dies during this verbal altercation. Rose feels extremely guilty. They wind up doing a small funeral for Mrs. Claxton. Only one person comes. However, she came to the wrong funeral. To make matters worse, Mrs. Claxton was accidentally cremated. She's given to the girls. What becomes of Mrs. Claxton's ashes? Do Rose and the girls manage to save the tree?
Dorothy is dating a naval officer. Stan arrives sad and pathetic and wants Dorothy to cancel her plans to cheer him up. She won't have it and bribes Blanche to go out with Stan. However, they seem to hit it off. Dorothy becomes extremely jealous accusing Blanche of sleeping with her husband. Sophia cons Rose into a sandwich business with her selling bacon, lettuce and potato sandwiches. The run into a problem with another food vendor. Is Blanche sleeping with Stan? Do Dorothy and Blanche stop fighting about Stan? Is Sophia and Rose's business a success?
The ladies house has to be tented for bug extermination and they are forced to move out for two days. Blanche wins three tickets to a new Burt Reynolds movie premiere. She also wins three passes to the after party when Burt Reynolds and other celebrities will be in attendance. Sophia is very upset because Blanche couldn't get a ticket for her. Blanche finds them a hotel to stay in while the exterminator works. While the three have a drink at the bar the police come in and raid the hotel. They arrest every woman as a prostitute, the girls included. Sophia bails them out. Who gets to meet to Burt? How were the girls mistaken for ladies of the night?
Blanche is in a panic as she thinks she pregnant. Dorothy and Rose have purchased minks to breed for fur. Is Blanche pregnant or is something else going on? Do Rose and Dorothy wind up with mink coats?
The girls have watched Psycho and now they cannot sleep. They sit around the table and talk about how they met. Rose had a cat and Dorothy's mother had come with her. We also learn where the cheesecake came from.
Blanche's father is coming to town. He's got a surprise for Blanche, but it's not a gift like she would prefer. He's become a singer. They also have a storm and a neighbors palm tree gets knocked into their yard. He doesn't want to take care of it. His wife steps in quietly to try and help. How does Big Daddy's show go? Does the bad neighbor finally take responsibility for his tree?
Rose's sister Lily comes to town. She's recently lost her ability to see and is not coping well to this change in her life. She nearly sets the girls house on fire with a grease fire. Lily asks Rose to come and live with her to take care of her. Rose is shocked. What is Rose to do?
Rose loses her job at the grief counseling center. Her clients start showing up at the house. Dorothy meets up with someone from high school. Blanche is trying to lose some weight. Milton takes a shine to Blanche. Does Rose manage to get another job? Does Milton become Blanche's new boyfriend?
The girls are getting ready for a big banquet. Rose, starts sneezing and she gives them all the flu. The girls fight, Rose gets drunk and Sophia finally finds a date. They decide to go to the banquet event though they are diagnosed with the Flu. Who wins the big award?
Dorothy is desperate to get tickets to see Frank Sinatra. Blanche is having trouble with her psychology class. The girls wind up with 10 tickets to the concert from various means. Blanche's professor offers to give her an A if she sleeps with him. What is Blanche to do? How does Dorothy's concert go?
Dorothy and Rose's bathroom has some kind of plumbing issue. The two decide to fix it themselves. They also install a new toilet. Blanche is dating Richard, who is also very rich. He wants to introduce Blanche to his family. She expected a little older Mama but instead meets two kids, aged 7 and 9. He proposes. But does she marry Richard? Is the plumbing fixed?
The girls are preparing for a tap dance recital. Dorothy's foot start to act up. She doesn't want to do anything but finally goes to the doctor. They tell her she has a small tumor on her foot. She doesn't want to get it fixed because is very afraid of hosptials, but Sophia steps in and makes her. Rose and Blanche have to put on the show without her as the Two Merry Widows. They're a hit.
Rose is going out with a new man. She decides to bring him home late one night. Sadly, he doesn't survive their tryst. He has a heart attack and dies. She learns after his death that he has a wife. She breaks the news to her.
Dorothy as a new man, Glen O'Brien. He's a handsome gym teacher. After going out with him for three weeks she finds out he's married and ends its. But due to missing him, she gets back together with him. Can Dorothy be the other woman?
Blanche plans on getting a new car, but needs to sell her current one. She lets Rose test drive it for two weeks. During the test drive period it gets stolen.
Rose has been dating a new man for 5 weeks. She won't tell Dorothy or Blanche anything about this guy except his name and that he is a psychiatrist at her grief counselling center. Blanche takes it upon herself to invite Dr. Jonathan Newman to dinner. Rose is very angry. When he arrives they find out why. He's a little person and she's been a bit embarrassed by that even though she likes him. After he leaves, Rose tells the girls she thinks he is going to propose. Does Rose get a proposal? And if so, does she accept?
Dorothy and Sophia have a big fight. Gloria comes to visit. She also tries to steal Sophia away. But who does Sophia choose? Meanwhile, Blanche and Rose are tying out for parts in MacBeth. Blanche wants the role of Lady Macbeth. She goes out with the director in an attempt to snag it. But does she get it?
Stan is back. Just like a bad penny. He's in town to sell a property that he and Dorothy bough on their honeymoon. He lets slip that Chrissy has left him. He and Dorothy wind up getting together that night. He thinks they are getting back together. But does Dorothy agree?
Blanche's jazzercise instructor asks her out, but he's a lot younger than her. She'll only admit to a five year age different but it's a lot more than that, like decades. Does she go out with him? Rose's mother is also coming to visit. But it doesn't go well because Rose treats her like a child instead of an adult and woman. Will Rose and her Mom ever get along?
Blanche's daughter Janet and her husband are having serious trouble in their marriage. They decide to go on a second honeymoon to try and work it out. But they aren't taking their 14-year-old, David, with them. He's going to stay with Blanche, his grandmother. How will they all get along?
Dorothy gets a doctor to make a house call for Sophia. She winds up asking him out and they hit it off. However, he's also attracted to Blanche. He makes a pass at her the first chance he gets. When Blanche tells Dorothy, Dorothy calls her a number of names. This causes a major fight between the two.
Blanche's sister Virginia comes to visit. The two don't get on well so Blanche assumes that Virginia wants something. She's right. Virginia tells her she is going into renal failure and will die without a kidney transplant. She asks Blanche for a kidney.
