Bob Marley Beach Saga - Fighting for FREE Beach Access Pt. 2/3 - Ft. Dr. Devon Taylor, JaBBEM

This week's episode is a continuation of the Bob Marley Beach Saga, and you’ll hear about the Jamaica Beach Environmental Movement's (JaBBEM's) petition, geared towards getting a response - not only from the Governor General and the Prime Minister of Jamaica, but also from King Charles III; requesting to repeal and replace the Beach Control Act of 1956 in hopes that the petition will send a strong message in "people power". Dr Taylor also shares how the Rastafari family living on the beach has been gracious for JaBBEM's intervention, which has tremendously helped them to protect and secure their property and livelihoods. Bob Marley Beach Saga - Fighting for FREE Beach Access Pt. 1/3 - Ft. Dr. Devon Taylor, JaBBEM

NATURE. Ecological heritage. To define "nature" we also define ourselves. We are very much interconnected with nature's majestic existence. Have you ever noticed that when you integrate with nature, you suddenly feel as though everything is perfect? You feel in tuned, balanced and in alignment - as though everything is flowing to you and through you? That's what the ENERGY of nature delivers to us. It provides a feeling you just cannot comprehend behind closed doors and behind four walls. Nature provides recreational, therapeutic and spiritual healing for us humans, and to take that away from us, also takes away a piece of our inner-being. To many, it also means taking away their financial livelihood. In Jamaica, indigenous Rastafari families have built their identitities at the Bob Marley Beach for over 5 decades. However, there's an imminent threat to indigenous rights, cultural and ecological heritage by the possibility of tourism development in and around that space.  In this episode, we engage Dr. Devon Taylor, in discussions about his advocacy for Jamaicans to have FREE Beach Access and along the way, getting transformational support from Dr. Marcus Goffe - the legal representative for JaBBEM. Dr. Taylor deems this as our birthright and will be fighting for ecological heritage within the court system so that all Jamaicans are able to utilize the beaches in perpetuity, without hesitation and without harassment from the state or tourism developers. Dr. Taylor is a research scientist who has his PhD. in Biochemistry and who currently works with a bio-pharmaceutical company in the United States. However, he joins us in a different capacity as head of a nonprofit organization called JaBBEM, Jamaica Beach Birthright Environmental Movement. S01-E04: Children with disability co-existing with non-disabled children through Early Childhood Education (PART 2) | Peter Rose - President, Rockhouse Foundation

In this week’s episode, we continue with part 2 of Nation Building through Early Childhood Education. Peter Rose, President of the Rockhouse Foundation shares with us how the Sav Inclusive Academy --- a school for children with special needs and typical learners was developed out of just a brief “10 minute conversation” with an employee of the Rockhouse Hotel. It has grown from 30 students to NOW 130 students and will continue its education for children up to the 12th grade.

The Rockhouse Foundation has demonstrated a sustainable development eco-system that surrounds: quality education, employment opportunities, promoting health and wellness, as well as food security

They have strategically provided easy access to information relating to the organization, transparency to it’s annual reports and convenience for persons to access their list of resources needed, which are obviously critical components to the viability of any Non-profit institution. As a result, these practices have sought the attention of international donors, who have significantly contributed to some of the foundation’s very successful initiatives..

The Rockhouse Foundation’s yearly charity event will take place on 22nd of November at Joe’s Pub in New York City - so you won't want to miss out on that very entertaining experience.
