Ep 13: Why didn't India join RCEP?

Hello and welcome to the latest episode of our podcast India on Call. From this week onwards we will be having India on Call on audio as well as a video platform. Till now Indian on Call was streaming on all major streaming platforms and now it will be on youtube also.

In this edition of India on Call, Aditya is joined with Anubhav. They are talking about everything one needs to know about RCEP. Aditya started the conversation by asking Anubhav about what is RCEP? Anubhav told that it is Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. It is a free trade agreement between Asia-Pacific nations. Excitingly these RCEP countries have 30% of the world's population and 30% of the world's GDP. The talk about RCEP started in 2012.

Anubhav told that the USA was having a Trans-Pacific trade partnership, which was the largest free trade agreement between any bloc of countries but when Trump joins the office, he dropped out of the USA from the same deal. Since then finding the vacuum in space, China is talking aggressively about RCEP.

They also talked about the various factors because of which India didn't join the RCEP and what are the merits and demerits of not joining RCEP. for more listen to the conversation or watch the video. Don't forget to visit our website srmpodcasts.com

Ep 11: Will there be any societal impact after this pandemic?

Ep 11: Will there be any societal impact after this pandemic?

Welcome to the eleventh episode of our podcast India on call.

In this podcast, Anubhav and Aarushi are talking about how society is going to change after the pandemic.

They started by talking about how corona has changed the way of life of people. There has been a tremendous change in the habits of people. Everyone has started working from home part of the essential services. The online transaction has gained a lot of traction and even small vendors have opted for online payments.

Anubhav starts talking about various plagues in the history of mankind. He started telling about the Antonine plague which is the first documented plague in the known history.  The Antonine Plague, sometimes referred to as the Plague of Galen, erupted in 165 CE, at the height of Roman power throughout the Mediterranean world during the reign of the last of the Five Good Emperors, Marcus Aurelius Antoninus (161-180 CE). The first phase of the outbreak would last until 180 CE affecting the entirety of the Roman Empire, while a second outbreak occurred in 251-266 CE, compounding the effects of the earlier outbreak.

Later Anubhav also talked about the Plague. Plague is an infectious disease caused by Yersinia pestis bacteria, usually found in small mammals and their fleas. The disease is transmitted between animals via their fleas and, as it is a zoonotic bacterium, it can also transmit from animals to humans.

Humans can be contaminated by the bite of infected fleas, through direct contact with infected materials, or by inhalation. Plague can be a very severe disease in people, particularly in its septicaemic and pneumonic forms, with a case-fatality ratio of 30% - 100% if left untreated.

Ep 10: Why farmers are protesting?

Ep 10: Why farmers are protesting?

The government has introduced three Bills to replace these ordinances. Lok Sabha passed one of these recently and the other two are listed for consideration and passing during the current session. They are called:

The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020;

The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020;

The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020. It is the Bill replacing the third that has been passed in Lok Sabha. While farmers are protesting against all three ordinances, their objections are mostly against the provisions of the first. And while there is no uniform demand among the protesters or a unified leadership, it emerges that their concerns are mainly about sections relating to “trade area”, “trader”, “dispute resolution” and “market fee” in the first ordinance44Section 2(m) of The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020 defines “trade area” as any area or location, place of production, collection, and aggregation including (a) farm gates; (b) factory premises; (c) warehouses; (d) silos; (e) cold storages; or (f) any other structures or places, from where the trade of farmers’ produce may be undertaken in the territory of India. The definition does not, however, include “the premises, enclosures, and structures constituting (i) physical boundaries of principal market yards, sub-market yards, and market sub-yards managed and run by the market committees formed under each state APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) Act”. It also excludes “private market yards, private market sub-yards, direct marketing collection centers, and private farmer-consumer market yards managed by persons holding licenses or any warehouses, silos, cold storages or other structures notified as markets or deemed markets under each State APMC Act in force in India”. In effect, existing mandis established under APMC Acts have been excluded from the definition of trade area under the new legislation. The government says the creation of an additional trade area outside of mandis will provide farmers the freedom of choice to conduct trade in their produce.

Ep 9: India-Vietnam Ties & MINISTRIES TO LIST IAS, IPS, OTHER OFFICERS WITH ‘DOUBTFUL INTEGRITY’

Ep 9: India-Vietnam Ties & MINISTRIES TO LIST IAS, IPS, OTHER OFFICERS WITH ‘DOUBTFUL INTEGRITY’

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), all ministries and government departments will have to conduct a quarterly review of the officials, in order to ascertain who among them need to be prematurely retired from service. In order to bring in better clarity to the existing instructions and enable uniform implementation, an effort has been made to review, consolidate, and reiterate the guidelines so far issued on the subject in one place. The register of the government servants who are due to attain the age of 50/55 years or to complete 30 years of service, has to be maintained. The register maintained by each ministry will have to be reviewed at the beginning of every quarter by a senior official of the ministry or department. As such, a review would be mandatory for the January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December periods.

Revamping the bureaucracy is not a Herculean task. It merely requires a positive mindset of the government in power and a determination among the aspirants in the service to deliver as per the hallowed objectives of the service. It requires officers to remain committed to the job at hand and not be swayed by narrow sectarian, political, or regional interests.

Vietnam remains among the most important Southeast Asian nation for India’s security interests. People of Vietnam resolutely supported the freedom struggle in India, and while facing international reprimand, India stood by Vietnam in its testing times during the 60s and 70s. The two had strategically remained closer to the Soviet Union than the US or China due to ideological differences, they're individual strategic relations with either US or China, relations with neighbors, and Cold War politics.  Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and President Ho Chi Minh made state visits during The 50s, making the Indian Prime Minister the first to visit Hanoi. India also supported the Hanoi government during the Vietnam War. The relationship between India and Vietnam started getting a formal shape after India joined the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in 1996.

Ep 8: AFSPA EXTENDED IN ASSAM

Ep 8: AFSPA EXTENDED IN ASSAM

Hello and welcome to the eighth episode of our podcast.

In this episode, we are talking about AFSPA EXTENDED IN ASSAM. The state has been declared a “disturbed area” on account of recent insurgent attacks on security forces in the Northeast and recovery of illegal arms and ammunition from different areas of Assam. Many civil society groups and activists have been demanding the withdrawal of the draconian law from the state. Many civil society groups and activists have been demanding the withdrawal of the draconian law from the state. The AFSPA, which empowers security forces to conduct operations, arrest anyone anywhere without prior notice, has been continuing in Assam since November 1990. It is renewed every six months. Members of several extremist groups have surrendered in masse but some other outfits may attempt to exploit the situation in the wake of the enactment of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and try to lure misguided youths into its fold.

At the time of independence and after independence, and awareness of isolation began to rise among the Assamese. ! Discovery of oil in several areas of upper Assam in the late 1960s pushed up the crude oil production figure to an average of 3.5 million tons per year. From 1970 onwards, the figure touched 5 million tons per year. ! However, the royalty paid by the center to Assam was not satisfactory. The state government and people of Assam demanded to raise the royalty. However, the central government refused the state government’s demand for the revision of royalty on crude oil. As a result, the feeling spread among the people of the state that the center was merely exploiting the resources of the region without considering Assam’s ever-deteriorating economic situation.

Assamese became aware that along with economic exploitation by the center, they had to face the forthcoming danger of being a minority in their own state. ! The vast growth in the Muslim population had overburdened the state. Moreover, Bengali Muslims who had initially identified themselves as the Assamese speaking population began to register themselves as Bengali speaking people especially between 1971 and 1991. This led to an increase in tensions in the region

Ep 7: National Digital Health Mission & India-Nepal Ties

Ep 7: National Digital Health Mission & India-Nepal Ties

Hello, and welcome to the latest episode of our Podcast 'India on Call'. This week we are back again with Hafte bhar ka bawaal. Aditya and Anubhav are discussing National Digital Health Mission and India-Nepal ties.

Anubhav started the podcast by telling the present shortcoming in the health infrastructure of India. He told the listener that we don't have any records, if the patient is visiting the hospital then they have to take all their medical history along with them. And most of the time many papers are lost so it very difficult for doctors to understand the medical history of a patient.

The National Digital Health Mission is a digital health ecosystem under which every Indian citizen will now have unique health IDs, digitized health records with identifiers for doctors and health facilities.  The mission comes under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY).  National Health Authority (NHA), the attached office of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and the apex Central Government agency responsible for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been given the mandate by the Government of India to design, build, roll-out and implement the NDHM in the country. It is an ambitious plan to create a digital infrastructure for health care delivery, which will include personal health IDs and e-records for citizens. Building blocks: The NDHM comprises six key building blocks or digital systems to enable access to timely, safe, and affordable healthcare through a ‘citizen-centric’ approach, namely HealthID, DigiDoctor! Health Facility Registry,  Personal Health Records, e-Pharmacy, Telemedicine  The key feature of this mission is the technology part - it will leverage open digital systems to provide high-quality healthcare for all.  It will integrate various digital health services to create an ecosystem that can assimilate existing health information systems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepal counterpart Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli spoke with each other in a prelude to meeting between officials of both sides to discuss the territorial spat over the Lipulekh-Limpiyadhura-Kalapani trijunction.  India and Nepal agreed to speed up work on bilateral projects, including infrastructure schemes and cross-border rail links, as senior officials of the two sides held a meeting for the fi first time since a border row strained ties.  In that connection, they agreed to undertake necessary measures to timely address problems and obstacles in the course of implementation.  This was the eighth meeting of the mechanism, set up in 2016 to monitor the progress of India funded projects, and it carried out a comprehensive review of economic and development cooperation schemes since the last meeting in July 2019.

Based on their history of friendly relations and driven by pragmatism, it should not be difficult for India and Nepal to think out of the box and find a practical solution. Delhi and Kathmandu could lead the way to liberate the subcontinent from the sovereignist, nationalist and territorial logic that continues to leave everyone in the region worse off.

Ep 6: Prashant Bhushan's contempt of Court & National Recruitment Board | NRA

Ep 6: Prashant Bhushan's contempt of Court & National Recruitment Board | NRA

Welcome to the sixth episode of our podcast India on Call. In this episode, Anubhav and Aditya are in conversation.

They started the conversation by telling that as this Abhishek is not present so they are missing him. They talked about two topics in this episode. Very famous Contempt of Court case which is revolving around Prashant Bhushan and the National Recruitment Agency i.e. NRA.

Anubhav started by telling about contempt of court. He told that there are two types of contempt. One when the court orders any judgment and that judgment is not respected or followed and the other one is when a person says insidious words to the court and malign its image.

He later explains why Prashant Bhushan has been found guilty. Prashant Bhushan posted two tweets which are the cause behind him being found guilty. The case takes a twist when Prashant Bhushan in courts said that he will not apologize and apologizing will be the contempt of his conscience.

Anubhav also told about the famous Mulgaonkar case where during the emergency the then editor of Indian Express, Mulgaonkar was found not guilty by the bench with 2:1 vote although the same bench initiated it.

Later they also talked about Gandhi's case when Gandhi didn't apologize and was sentenced with 5 years of jail.

The next topic they discussed was the National Recruitment Agency. The central government has proposed one test for three major exams, IBPS, Railways, and SSC. The test will be valid for three years. And it will happen twice a year. Which will reduce the costs of examination from the part of both student and Government and also it will save time.

Ep 5: FINALLY NSCN PUTS ‘THE 2015 FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT’ IN PUBLIC DOMAIN | Nagaland Issue

Ep 5: FINALLY NSCN PUTS ‘THE 2015 FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT’ IN PUBLIC DOMAIN | Nagaland Issue

Hey all, welcome to our podcast India on Call. This week's hosts are Anubhav and Aarushi.

The Naga quest for independence is one of the longest-running struggles in the Indian subcontinent. Despite numerous attempts made in the past towards resolving the conflict, it continues to remain elusive on account of various fault lines. The signing of a ‘Framework Agreement’ between the National Socialist Council of Nagalim–Issak and Muivah (NSCN-IM) and the Government of India in August 2015 was one such attempt. However, the views of various stakeholders remain fragmented as the details of the agreement have not been disclosed in the public domain. Though peace talks with NSCN-IM and other pro- talks rebel outfi ts (Naga National Political Groups- NNPGs) concluded in October, 2019 a formal deal to end the decades old Naga political problem is still awaited.

The Nagas are a tribal Indo-Mongoloid people who live in the Northeast region of India, the Himalayas, and Burma (Myanmar). These hill people are estimated to number about 2.5 million (1.8 million in Nagaland, 0.6 million in Manipur and 0.1 9million in Arunachal states) and living in the remote and mountainous country between the Indian state of Assam and Burma. There are also Naga groups in Burma. Nagas traditionally are tribally organized, with a strong warrior tradition.

The efforts for peace started soon after the NNC declared Nagaland an independent state on August 14, 1947. It took until August 1997, however, for the first ceasefire agreement to be signed between the government and the NSCN-IM. The security situation in Nagaland and neighboring states, however, remained grim, and the ceasefire was violated by both the NSCN-IM and NSCN-K. The NSCN-K unilaterally broke the agreement in March 2015 and was subsequently declared an unlawful association under The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

Ep 4: National Education Policy | NEP

Ep 4: National Education Policy | NEP

Hello Everyone, welcome to the latest episode of our podcast 'India on Call'. Again Abhishek, Anubhav, and Aditya are back to discuss the weekly news agenda.

In this week's episode, they are discussing the very new National Education Policy. A report headed by K. Rangarajan was submitted to the union government which has now been accepted by the cabinet ministry. There are many basic changes in the present education systems even the name of the Ministry of HRD is now renamed as the Ministry of Education.

Abhishek started the discussion by telling what actually is Education Policy, why it is needed, and a basic outline on the historical facts of education policy in India.

Anubhav showered light on the flaws of the existing education policy.

He described how flawed teaching methodology and lack of training of teachers have lead students to lose interest in the subject. Another shortcoming was stress on percentage and grade. He also explained how the current education system fails to act as a bridge between industry and universities. Another issue is how our students fair poorly in mathematics and comprehension skills compared to the global average.

Anubhav also brought to notice how our current education system fails to provide key life skills to students like financial literacy and Sex education.  Later Aditya asked Abhishek what’s are the takeaways of the current system. Abhishek told that the new education system dismantles the current 10+12  system with a 5+3+3+4 system. The NEP proposes sweeping changes including opening up of Indian higher education to foreign universities, dismantling of the UGC, and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the introduction of a four-year multidisciplinary undergraduate program with multiple exit options, and discontinuation of the M Phil program.

In school education, the policy focuses on overhauling the curriculum, “easier” Board exams, a reduction in the syllabus to retain “core essentials” and thrust on “experiential learning and critical thinking”. Aditya asked Anubhav what is the flaw of NEP. Anubhav mentioned The NEP doesn’t say anything specifically on children of parents with transferable jobs,  Aditya asked Abhishek what he liked about NEP. Abhishek told that multiple exit-entry options and graduate level is the most sweeping change. In the endnote, Anubhav told that when our expenditure on education will more than 6% of GDP true research will be done and that would make in a golden bird again.

Aditya ended the show  saying time would tell that the NEP will bring sweeping changes or the 484 page document will be a just a headache for UPSC aspirant.

Ep 3: SERO Survey, Herd Immunity, Community Spread & more

Hello everyone, welcome to our podcast India on Call. This is the third episode of India on Call if you haven't heard the second episode please check out this link: https://srmpodcasts.com/rajasthan-crisis-assam-floods-and-india-iran-issue/ visit our website for more such podcast visit our website https://srmpodcasts.com.

In this episode, Aditya, Abhishek, and Anubhav are discussing the latest updates of Coronavirus Pandemics. India has recorded more than fourteen lakh and thirty thousand cases. The situation is getting worse and media has almost stopped discussing the fatalities Corona is causing.

India has recorded 33111 deaths because of the coronavirus.

They Mainly discussed the SERO survey, Community transmission, herd immunity, and transparency of the data.

SERO Survey was Conducted when Delhi was recording more than 3000 cases daily. It was held from 27th June to 10th July. 21387 samples were collected randomly. 23.48% of the people surveyed had developed IgG antibodies, indicating they had been exposed to the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that causes Covid-19.

Then they discussed the community spread and why the government is still denying the fact that community spread has started in India. Chief Minister of Kerala has sad in a press conference that Community spread has begun in their state.

Later they talked about the clinical trials. the phases of clinical trials.  Clinical trials are experiments or observations done in clinical research. Such prospective biomedical or behavioral research studies on human participants are designed to answer specific questions about biomedical or behavioral interventions, including new treatments (such as novel vaccines, drugs, dietary choices, dietary supplements, and medical devices) and known interventions that warrant further study and comparison. Clinical trials generate data on safety and efficacy.[1] They are conducted only after they have received health authority/ethics committee approval in the country where approval of the therapy is sought. These authorities are responsible for vetting the risk/benefit ratio of the trial—their approval does not mean the therapy is 'safe' or effective, only that the trial may be conducted. Ep 2: Rajasthan Crisis, Assam Floods & India-Iran issue

Hello everyone, welcome to our podcast India on Call. This is the second episode of India on cal,l if you haven't heard the first episode please check out this link: https://srmpodcasts.com/vikas-dubey-encounter-india-china-bhutan-conflict/ visit our website for more such podcast visit our website https://srmpodcasts.com.

In this episode, Aditya, Abhishek, and Anubhav discussed horse-trading as per the recent scenario in Rajasthan Dau about the Assam flood which is not been much covered by Media and lastly discuss the about current India and Iran issue. Iran has dropped India from one of its projects.

The anti-defection law in India, technically the Tenth Schedule to the Indian Constitution, was enacted to address the perceived problem of instability caused by democratically elected legislators in India's Parliamentary System of Government shifting allegiance from the parties they supported at the time of the election or disobeying their parties' decisions at critical times such as during voting on an important resolution. Such shifting of allegiance was considered to be a symptom of endemic political corruption, which in turn provided some legitimization for corruption prevalent in other aspects of life in the country.

The next issue they discussed is Assam floods. More than 90% of the Assam is underwater. Flood has resulted in the loss of life. Many animals have been also drowned. They talked about the issues which led to such a disastrous flood, how it can be controlled, what government should do, and future approaches.

Chabahar port to Zahedan railway line contract which was given to Indian company IRCON  has been dropped in favor of Chinese firms India was pitching Chabahar port as a counter to Gwadar port being built by China. The ambitious rail/road transport line from Chabahar to Daleram was to be built by India for the transport of goods to Afghanistan and further utilization of it to tap the market through Central Asia and Russia using the international north-south transport corridor.

Don't forget to tune in to our website https://srmpodcasts.com/ for more such Podcasts.

This week was full of headlines. The major two issues worth discussing our hosts sorted are Indo-China-Bhutan conflict and Encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey.

They started with the Encounter of Vikas Dubey which has widely been criticized as a fake encounter. They discussed about the various aspect that strengthened the claim of Fake encounter.
