Después de obtener una beca para el programa de actuación teatral en la Universidad de Texas - Austin, Leslie estaba emocionada del camino que se estaba forjando para alcanzar sus sueños, pero rápidamente la vida le tiró una curva que le descuadró los planes. Se trataba de una reforma de presupuesto para becas que eliminó todo fondo para el programa en el que estaba.
