Loving the Dirt and Clouds ft. Sam Lister
On a personal note, I got a lot from my interview with Sam.  It made me understand what it means to really hustle, but more importantly, focus.   Learning more about Sam's mindset and history made me realize how I am still in the baby league. Appreciating that has just made me more pumped than ever. I'm training for a marathon, and your legs don't become powerful over night. To get somewhere it is vital to know you where are currently and how far you are from your destination. But my destination has no location or dollar figure, it is a mindset.  A big thank you to Sam for his time.  Find Sam Lister on LInkedIn, IG @samlister__ Twittter @samlister__ and Faceboook His videography business: https://www.blnkslatemedia.com/ Find me @ineyesight on Twitter and IG, and on LinkedIn Jeffrey Maxim Email me at jeffm@ineyesight.agency

You Can't Open For Business and Expect Interest ft. Frank of G'Day Frank
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? If a product solves a problem but no one understands that, does it provide value? With social media the issue of making meaningful communication and staying "top of mind" is easier than ever before. We have a content creation and broadcast device in our pockets at all times.   Find Frank of @gdayfrank and I expand on this in the last In EyeSight podcast episode. Exploring the Culture of RV Media ft. Kenny & Sean of Beyond The Wheel Podcast
I'm fascinated by technology's influence on how humans communicate and come together. This episode is a dive into that curiosity. I have on the show two hosts of @beyondthewheelpodcast a podcast dedicated "to the people and ideas that move the RV industry forward." It was really interesting to me to talk to Kenny Phillips and Sean Chickery about being content creators in the RV community.  What do people listen to? Where do they listen to? How are audiences different on various platforms - podcasting, youtube, etc. - for the RV community? What is it like to create content for RV companies? These are just of the things that we cover in the episode.  FInd Kenny's and Sean's podcast Beyond The Wheel on iTunes, and major podcast platforms. Wrapping My Head Around Brand Strategy ft. Julia Braga of Truu Studio
I have gained a lot of empathy for business owners who are overwhelmed by brand strategy because so I am.  It is highly contextual, which means it can only be talked about in vague terms without a concrete example. Getting such an example is difficult because so much of the info needed for strategy is financially sensitive information. Luckily for me, Julia lends me an hour of her time so I can ask her a bunch of questions I have about brand strategy.  I feel more confident about feeling uncomfortable. I realize that is how I am always going to feel because it is the nature of the gig. The only certainty in business is uncertainty, because it is concern with people and the future. It is hard to get more unpredictable than that. Therefore, I got to suck it up and deal with life’s punches if they land. There is no such thing as a guarantee thing in business so it is dumb to expect that. Accepting that is quite freeing. It makes me more excited to pursue brand strategy. A Story of Action Part 3 ft. Mark Hirons of Creative Waffle and Blue Deer Design
"The idea was five minute interviews. Keep the work for me very minimal, and keep it simple." That was Mark's thinking behind starting his podcast Logomarked, which turned into Creative Waffle. When I heard that during the podcast what came to mind is how starting now, no matter small and rough, is better than perfection, a.k.a never starting. It is one thing to see that idea thrown around in business circles, but it is another thing to see it actually be used by someone. Really interesting take. A Story of Action Part 2 ft. Mark Hirons of Creative Waffle and Blue Deer Design
"You're 16 so what's happening?" That is where the second part of my podcast with Mark Hirons starts. We try to understand what led him to creating Creative Waffle. That's his podcast where he has interviewed some of the biggest contemporary designers, Paula Scher and Aaron Draplin. "The internet rewards those who do it." We continue to flesh his stories, and connect more of the dots. Give it a listen, but make sure you check Part 1 to understand where the journey started. Find Mark @creativewaffle and listen to his podcast on Spotify, iTunes, Youtube, and other platforms.  Find me, Jeff, @ineyesight and on Spotify, Youtube, and other platforms.

A Story of Action Part 1 ft. Mark Hirons of Creative Waffle and Blue Deer Design
We start at the beginning, like birth, in an attempt to understand what lead to Mark Hirons creating Creative Waffle, a podcast gem in design circles. He's 20, lives in the middle of nowhere in Britain, has no connections, and yet has been able to interview some of the biggest names in design - Paula Scher, Aaron @draplin and many more.  On paper, none of this makes sense. In actuality, it makes perfect sense. Mark didn't second guess his action. He didn't think about how incredibly unlikely it would be to get 30 minutes of Scher's time.  He just sent off a polite and friendly email.  That is the difference between him, and probably a 100 other twenty-something designers who had a similar idea but didn't execute on it. Doing, not thinking about doing.  Also, getting marco, a kid in a small town with his laptop camera and less than $100 microphone has amassed an archive of interviews with impressive designers all around the world. Fun fact: he just used his laptop's microphone in the beginning. This is the times we are living in people. It's nuts! Today's communication network the Internet with social media stacked on top of it has made the world a really interesting place. One filled with unrealized opportunity. The opportunity of cost of inhibition is greater than it has ever been. Finding a Boss That Thinks Like You ft. Brandon Bennett
Brandon and myself connected on LinkedIn  in the beginning of the day, and recorded a podcast by the evening. We  didn't know each other the day before. I live on the outskirts of LA  county, and him in New York City. We live in interesting times, my  friends. What is possible today was not a few short years ago. ⠀ Brandon  recently was laid off, and from his experience as a designer he now  knows pretty clearly what kind of a employer he wants to work for. One  that values quality over speed. I argue that content can help position  himself in a way that will gets design firms that think like him to  first know of him, and then hire him.⠀ We chat a lot of about  the purpose of design and brand in beginning, and the later half we get  more tactical. A big thank you to Brandon for suggesting we record a  podcast. I really valued the conversation as it helped me exercise some  intellectual muscles. ⠀ ⠀ Find Brandon on LinkedIn and on IG @b.as.in.brandon Find me, Jeffrey Maxim, on LinkedIn and IG @ineyesight

Strategy Doesn't Care About Feelings ft. Julia Braga of Truu Studio
We have our first brand strategist on the show! Julia of Truu Studio talked tactics, philosophy, and empathy. Oh boy, did I learn a lot. We discuss her life, how she got into brand strategy, as well as some important ideas in strategy.  Something I would like to point out is her emotional clarity. She doesn't let her emotions cloud the reality of the situation. Julia wants her strategy to actually help businesses and the customers they serve. So she isn't interested in pandering to the opinions and tastes of business decision makers if they will hurt the strategy (and thus its efficacy).  During the interview she could make a very serious note, and they act silly a moment later. That emotional dexterity is something I really admire, and want to work on in myself.   Find Julia at @truustudio @thejubraga truustudio.com  - Jeff @eyeinsight ineyesight.agency

I apologize Hypebeasts
In this episode, I defend the hypebeast community from Michael's vicious, unfounded attacks, haha. I really hope I get a free pair of Yeeyz for my service.  It gets off the rails a bit, and loud. But I found it really interesting on a number of levels. 1.Humility. Even very analytical thinkers are susceptible to emotional reasoning (that includes me). 2.The subjective and contextual nature of human meaning and value. 3. The tendency of humans to conflate other people's actions with their identity and subjective meanings.  - Jeff  Hypebeast community if you show Michael kindness and be the better person, you win. So send him peace and understanding on IG @sandwich_suplex  Send me Yeeyzs and follow my journey learning brand strategy @ineyesight Also, I would really like to have someone from the Hypebeast community on this podcast. Someone who is neck deep in the buying and selling of that culture. That community is brand in such a pure form. If you are one and want to be on, email me at jeffm@ineyesight.agency

Talking Minds
Expectations are huge in relationships. Michael Kelly and myself talk about our plan to record the first episode of the In EyeSight Podcast together. Mainly, that it didn't happen because Michael cancelled two days before. And how we both felt about it, and how we failed to communicate those feelings. It was a chat I learned a lot from myself. - Jeff Maxim Find Michael on IG @sandwich_suplex Follow my journey learning brand strategy @ineyesight Check out my blog at ineyesight.agency

Hi, I'm Jeff
Wow, I'm doing this. I should write something, but to be honest, I'm really tried right now. It is 8:56pm and I've been up since 6am.  What I will say is that I recorded this three weeks ago. A lot has changed. One I'm not interested in designing for people anymore, only myself. Second, I only want to do brand strategy because I realized it is what I'm most passionate about. I decided I wanted to wait on selling my services as a brand strategist until I could be really confident I could provide enough value. My goal is to interview at least one business owner and brand strategist per month over the next year to get more valuable by listening. I want to have my first brand strategy client by May 2020.  Also, Digital OneTwo doesn't exist anymore because I rebranded it to In EyeSight. So you can contact me at jeffm@ineyesight.agency or @ineyesight P.S I'm sorry about the fan. It annoyed me too when I was editing the clip. haha
