Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023, Paramount, Seth Rogen, Jeff Rowe, Paul Rudd, Jackie Chan)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023, Paramount, Seth Rogen, Jeff Rowe, Paul Rudd, Jackie Chan)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem! A film that is yet another reboot of the franchise that will not die (which is a good thing!). This time around it's an animated film that was written, as well as produced by Seth Rogen and his frequent collaborator, Evan Goldberg. This one is also notable for significantly aging down the turtles, presumably to have a multi-film arc.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on why this radical reboot may still feel pretty familiar to long time fans and why if you are curious about it, you should probably give it a shot despite its short comings.

Oppenheimer (2023, Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Universal)

Oppenheimer (2023, Christopher Nolan, Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Universal)

I am back with a brand new episode of Adam Analyzes & my thoughts on the brand new Christopher Nolan directed film, Oppenheimer! A movie that is at it's heart, is a historical drama, it also tries to show J. Robert Oppenheimer was with his methods and the guilt over creating a weapon of mass destruction. This is all rounded out with a fantastic supporting cast that all provide excellent performances no matter how big or small the part is.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on the movie and why if you have the opportunity, to see it in a 70mm IMAX presentation!

The Flash (DC, Warner Bros., Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Ben Affleck)

The Flash (DC, Warner Bros., Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Ben Affleck)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the latest effort from DC, with the delayed by years, The Flash. A film that was not just delayed by a certain beer flu, but also delayed by the new regime at DC with the hiring of James Gunn & Peter Safran but also the film's controversial star. I decided with this one to try to put aside my feelings with all of that and simply judge the film as delivered & without all of the outside factors to determine whether I would enjoy this one.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this one and I'm sure you already know by now if this is a movie that you want to see or not.

SModcastle Cinemas Shenanigans & Jersey Girl The Snyder Cut (Kevin Smith, Raquel Castro, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler)

SModcastle Cinemas Shenanigans & Jersey Girl The Snyder Cut (Kevin Smith, Raquel Castro, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I talk about my trip to New Jersey to see Jersey Girl: The Snyder Cut at Kevin Smith's SModcastle Cinemas. It was an awesome day in New Jersey that had me first going from the Quick Stop to Jay & Silent Bob's Secret Stash to finally ending up at SModcastle Cinemas where I not only got to see a rare cut of a very divided film amongst his fans, but also got to meet Kevin Smith & star of Jersey Girl, Raquel Castro!

Have a listen to see why this is the version of Jersey Girl that you need to see and my run down of the whole day!

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 (2023, James Gunn, Chris Pratt, Marvel)

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 (2023, James Gunn, Chris Pratt, Marvel)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the new film from James Gunn & Marvel with Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3. For me this was a long awaited return for my favorite MCU series and characters, it also marks the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy series. By now we mostly know what to expect from the Guardians and for those of us that enjoy it, this was a welcome entry, that wisely shifts the focus from Peter Quill.

Have a listen to hear my thoughts on this surprisingly sweet natured end to Marvel's wonderfully imperfect heroes!!

Shazam: Fury of the Gods (Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, David F. Sandberg, Warner Bros.)

Shazam: Fury of the Gods (Zachary Levi, Helen Mirren, David F. Sandberg, Warner Bros.)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I somewhat take a look at the Shazam sequel, Shazam: Fury of the Gods. By now we all know this is a flop for WB and DC, this is also more or less a near final death blow to the DCEU. This honestly was a tough one to talk about since it wasn't a bad movie at all and yet it wasn't all around great either, So I mostly discussed why this was a failure at the box office.

Have a listen to find out whether you should check out this near final offering from DC & WB when it hits streaming since it is mostly gone from the theatre by now...

Evil Dead Rise (2023, Alyssa Sutherland, Lilly Sullivan, Lee Cronin, Sam Raimi, Warner Bros.)

Evil Dead Rise (2023, Alyssa Sutherland, Lilly Sullivan, Lee Cronin, Sam Raimi, Warner Bros.)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I take a look at the new entry in the Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Rise. This new entry takes the action out of the cabin and into the city with a high-rise apartment building as the new setting. This is also notable for being another entry that does not feature Bruce Campbell in his iconic role as Ash Williams...well in front of the camera at least. This also has the unique status as essentially a reboot that is also a sequel making this one a rebootquel, that may be a very important movie in the future of evil dead as a whole.

Have a listen to find out why this one is a film you should definitely check out if you are a fan, why it might be ok that Ash is done in Evil Dead, and why this is a very important film in the Evil Dead Universe!

Apr 23, 202319:31
Renfield (2023, Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Chris McKay, Dracula, Universal Monsters)

Renfield (2023, Nicolas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, Chris McKay, Dracula, Universal Monsters)

For this episode of Adam Analyzes, I return from my slight hiatus and checked out the recently released, Renfield. A film that is an original take on the well known Universal Monsters Dracula story, this one is taken to modern times with a focus on Count Dracula's familiar, Robert Montague Renfield. Oh yeah its also a film that happens to feature, NICOLAS CAGE as Dracula!

Have a listen to find out my thoughts and why you should definitely check it out despite its numerous short comings!!

Apr 16, 202319:16
Scream 6 (2023, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Courtney Cox, Radio Silence)

Scream 6 (2023, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Courtney Cox, Radio Silence)

For this week's episode, I checked out Scream 6. The latest in the long-running slasher film franchise and second to be directed by the creative team known as Radio Silence. Picking up where the first rebootquel ended, this one wisely decides to change the setting to New York and feels like a somewhat fresh take on the standard scream formula.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this one and if its a scream film you should check out or if this film falls victim to too many sequels!

Mar 19, 202317:08
Bride of Re-Animator (1990, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Brian Yuzna)

Bride of Re-Animator (1990, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Abbott, Brian Yuzna)

For this week's return of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I decided to revisit an often forgotten sequel with Bride of Re-Animator. Directed by Brian Yuzna and with a returning cast of Jeffrey Combs as Dr. Herbert West along with Bruce Abbott as Dan Cain, this is a sequel that doesn't quite live up to it's predecessor but is still a lot of fun! This sequel is also an early showpiece of awesome practical effects from KNB, who of course produced some of the best practical effects in modern movie history!!

Have a listen to find out why this sequel is not just essential for fans of the series, but also why this one deserves a little bit more attention than it has received over the years!!

Titanic: 25th anniversary in 3-D!! (James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslett)

Titanic: 25th anniversary in 3-D!! (James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslett)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the recent re-release of Titanic. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this marks the second time this film has been released in 3-D, however this time it sports a brand-new 4K remaster. I decided to take a look at why this one is either loved or hated by the movie going public and also gave my thoughts on why this is actually a good movie.

Have a listen to find out if you should seek out this brand-new edition of a well known favorite (or hated film) and a dive into why it has a fairly divisive audience!!

Feb 12, 202318:30
Infinity Pool (2023, Brandon Cronenberg, Mia Goth, Alexander Skarsgard)

Infinity Pool (2023, Brandon Cronenberg, Mia Goth, Alexander Skarsgard)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I tackled the new Brandon Cronenberg written and directed film, Infinity Pool! Starring Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth, this is one wild ride that works as horror, sci-fi, satire & a touch of dark comedy. This also happens to be a film that I simply couldn't turn away from, despite being a more mainstream effort from Brandon Cronenberg.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on a film that may be a new anarchistic masterpiece or it could simply be a film that is not for you...One thing is for certain, you will likely never forget it if you choose to check it out!!

Feb 04, 202311:55
Skinamarink (2023, Shudder, RJLE Films, Horror)

Skinamarink (2023, Shudder, RJLE Films, Horror)

For this week's Episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the new release from the Shudder streaming service, Skinamarink! A horror film that is heading to streaming soon, had an exclusive limited engagement in theaters. I discuss the film with its "lo-fi" look and how it makes for a unique viewing experience that is definitely going to divide the audience. Of course I also give my thoughts on the various themes that the film presents to the viewer.

Have a listen to find out what I thought about Skinamarink and if its one that I can fully recommend seeing in theaters or simply waiting for this one to make the jump to streaming on Shudder!

The Pale Blue Eye (2023, Netflix, Christian Bale, Scott Cooper, Edgar Allan Poe)

The Pale Blue Eye (2023, Netflix, Christian Bale, Scott Cooper, Edgar Allan Poe)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I took a look at the Netflix exclusive film, The Pale Blue Eye. Directed by Scott Cooper and starring Christian Bale, This thriller focuses on a detective who enlists the help of a young Edgar Allan Poe to solve murders that might have an occult influence. This is also a film that is NOT an Edgar Allan Poe adaptation, however it definitely feels like it could have been a story written by Poe himself!

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this one that definitely feels like a love letter to the works and legend of Edgar Allan Poe!!

Jan 21, 202313:34
Barbarian ( 2022, HBOMAX, Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long)

Barbarian ( 2022, HBOMAX, Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I take a belated look at the Zach Cregger directed film, Barbarian. A film that has since its original release back in September of 2022, has made its way on many horror movie outlets as on of the best horror films of last year. In addition to having an intensity that rarely lets up, it is also surprisingly funny at times and is firmly rooted in some post-me too era commentary with somehow still feeling like a classic horror film that has an unique structure to tell its story.

Have a listen to find out if this surprise hit managed to surprise me and if this is one that I think you should check out!!

Jan 14, 202317:16
Super, Brightburn & My thoughts on the James Gunn DCU (2010, James Gunn, Rainn Wilson, Elliot Page, 2019, David Yarovesky, Elizabeth Banks)

Super, Brightburn & My thoughts on the James Gunn DCU (2010, James Gunn, Rainn Wilson, Elliot Page, 2019, David Yarovesky, Elizabeth Banks)

For this week's Episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at one of my favorite James Gunn directed films, Super. A story about an average guy that goes through emotional tragedy and decides to become a superhero to fight crime...with a wrench! It also appears to be James Gunn's most personal movie with the themes of love and loss.

I also decided to take a quick look back at the David Yarovesky directed, Brightburn, which is a James Gunn produced dark take on the Superman origin story & mythos. It also has a surprising link to the first featured film in this episode, Super. Brightburn also features a few recurring actors from James Gunn's previous and current works.

Finally I decided to weigh in on my thoughts with the current state of DC under the co-leadership of James Gunn, why we may need to wait and see his plans & also why the trend in bullying studios into bending to on-line outcries should probably stop.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on all of the above and hopefully everyone is having a great start to the new year!!

Jan 06, 202336:47
A Christmas Story Christmas (HBOMAX, Peter Billingsley)

A Christmas Story Christmas (HBOMAX, Peter Billingsley)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I close out the focusing on Christmas films with the follow-up to the Christmas Classic, A Christmas Story, with A Christmas Story Christmas. A sequel that is possibly overdue, with the original coming out about 40 years ago (wow)! I also discuss a bit of the history of all of the films featuring the Ralph/Ralphie Parker & my history of A Christmas Story, as well as why I think the original found an audience through the years.

Is this a sequel that you should check out? Is it just a cash in banking on the original? Have a listen to find out the answers and my thoughts on this one that is almost certain to not have the cult following of the original! Also, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays in whatever you celebrate this time of year!!

Dec 24, 202222:23
Violent Night (2022, David Harbor Christmas Santa Claus)

Violent Night (2022, David Harbor Christmas Santa Claus)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzed Podcast, I talk about the recently released, Violent Night. Starring David Harbor, this one is about Santa Claus rescuing a very rich family that is being held hostage. This is also a film that is obviously inspired by the fake film from Scrooged, The Night the Reindeer Died.

Have a listen to find out if this one is a film that is a great gift for the holiday season or if it is one that feels more like a lump of coal!!

Dec 17, 202210:23
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022, Disney+, James Gunn, Marvel)

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022, Disney+, James Gunn, Marvel)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I checked out the recently released, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Directed by James Gunn, in his first MCU outing since his firing from Guardians Vol. 3 and rehiring, as well as starring the Guardians of the Galaxy, this roughly 1 hour special wisely avoids the bizarre nature of some other holiday specials that have been made over the years from popular franchises.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this one to see if it is truly a gift from James Gunn and Marvel or if this is a present you want to regift or return!!

Dec 10, 202215:14
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022, Netflix)

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022, Netflix)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I checked out the latest Guillermo del Toro film, Pinocchio. A film that is a unique take on a well known story, wound up taking me by complete surprise on the story additions. This one also is a Netflix exclusive and is surprising that they allowed Guillermo del Toro to complete his passion project.

Have a listen to find out why this is a great take on the well known story of Pinocchio, if you should check this one out and which version of the Pinocchio story is my favorite!!

Happy Thanksgiving & my thoughts on the film, Hesher (2010, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rainn Wilson, Natalie Portman)

Happy Thanksgiving & my thoughts on the film, Hesher (2010, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rainn Wilson, Natalie Portman)

Happy Thanksgiving!! For this special episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I discuss how we should always be thankful for what we have in life and the 2010 Spencer Susser directed film, Hesher. A film that is heavy on emotion with a theme of loss but realizing what you still have in life is a movie that really feels relevant to what the holiday, Thanksgiving should be about. Hesher is a film that accomplishes this with out being an actual Thanksgiving film!

Have a listen to find out why this somewhat forgotten film is well worth checking out and why with my recent rewatch, feels like it's a film that is relative to what Thanksgiving means to me!! Also forgive me for messing up the original year of release for this one!!

Smile (2022, Paramount+, Sosie Bacon)

Smile (2022, Paramount+, Sosie Bacon)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I checked out the horror film, Smile.  Fresh out of theatres and just arriving on the Paramount+ streaming service, this is an interesting throwback to the cursed people type of horror film from first time feature film director, Parker Finn.

Have a listent to see if Smile is worth checking out & whether it truly made me smile or simply frown...

Dawn of the Dead 3-D Thoughts (1978, George A. Romero)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I discuss my thoughts on the recient Regal Cinemas, release of the George A. Romero classic, Dawn of the Dead 3-D. While I am not truly discussing the actual movie, this was quite the different experience seeing it not just in 3-D but seeing this classic in theaters for the first time.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this brand new edition of a cinematic classic that is being held for ransom by a money hungry producer was worth the experience or if the dead should have simply been left alone!!

Nov 12, 202213:46
Black Adam (Warner Bros., 2022, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Pierce Brosnan)

Black Adam (Warner Bros., 2022, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Pierce Brosnan)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I tackled the new film in the DC Universe, Black Adam. Starring The Rock in the title role as the famous Anti-Hero, this one is honestly a bit of a mixed bag, however it does provide some insight to where the future of DC on film may go in future films, especially with the stinger scene, which is honestly why I went to see this one!

Have a listen to find out if you should buy what The Rock is selling here or more specifically smell what The Rock is cooking or if you should simply skip it and hope for a better film from DC next time!

Nov 04, 202214:50
Idle Hands (1999, Devon Sawa, Seth Green, Jessica Alba)

Idle Hands (1999, Devon Sawa, Seth Green, Jessica Alba)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I decided to time-travel all the way back to the ancient year of 1999, with the Rodman Flender directed, Idle Hands. A critical and box-office flop on its original release, this Evil Dead 2 "inspired" film now firmly holds a cult-favortite status amongst horror fans. It also just so happens to have some fairly awesome practical effects!

Have a listen to find out if Idle Hands is worth a rewatch or if your hands are better off finding something else to watch!!

Ernest Scared Stupid (1991, Jim Varney, Eartha Kitt)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the halloween cult favorite, Ernest Scared Stupid. In addition to being a cult favorite, this one has the honor of being the last Disney owned Touchstone Pictures and theatrical Ernest release. This one features Ernest P. Worrell unleashing a troll that turns children into wooden statues that will allow this troll to bring forward a troll army!

Have a listen to hear my thoughts on this much loved favorite Halloween film!

Hellraiser (2022, Hulu) (Odessa A'zion, Jamie Clayton, David Bruckner, Clive Barker)

Hellraiser (2022, Hulu) (Odessa A'zion, Jamie Clayton, David Bruckner, Clive Barker)

For this week's plated episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I watched the David Bruckner directed & Clive Barker produced, Hellraiser '22. A film that has been stuck in development hell for years, this is a new take on the classic Clive Barker tale, that is sort of a reboot, but not at the same time. This film also introduces us to the first female Hell Priest with a brand new Pinhead played by Jamie Clayton.  Have a listen to find out my thoughts and if this is a Lament Configuration you should open or if the box should have simply stayed closed!
Oct 08, 202220:25
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988, Stephen Chiodo)

Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988, Stephen Chiodo)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I revisited the Chiodo Brothers/Stephen Chiodo directed classic, Killer Klowns From Outer Space. This one is a cult classic that I believe stands the test of time while still being pop culturally relevant. Its also a great B-movie that is smarter than it's reputation & possibly the greatest film ever to feature murderous Kuller Klowns.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts and if Killer Klowns From Outer Space is worth a rewatch or watch for the first time!

Sep 30, 202211:59
Pearl (2022, Ti West, Mia Goth)

Pearl (2022, Ti West, Mia Goth)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I took a look at the second film in 2022 from Studio A24 and director Ti West, Pearl. Pearl is a prequel and the second film in the X trilogy, which tells the backstory of Pearl, who we met in the film, X, with how she wants more than anything to be a star in Hollywood, while having the urge to kill anyone standing in her way. Like the film, X, before this release, Pearl is a highly stylized film with another fantastic performance from actress Mia Goth.

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on Pearl, if this is another great release from Studio A24, and if you should check this one out!

Jacob's Ladder (2019, Remake)

Jacob's Ladder (2019, Remake)

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I watched the seemingly forgotten remake from 2019, Jacob's Ladder. A remake of the excellent Tim Robbins starring original, this is a reboot that treads the same ground while trying to have it's own identity. The problem with most remakes, especially remakes of loved films, it almost never has a reason to exist...

Have a listen to find out my thoughts on this one and if it is worthy of existing or is this a forgotten remake that should simply stay forgotten...

Stranger Things Season 4

Stranger Things Season 4

For this episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I talk about the good and bad of Netflix's fourth & latest entry in the Stranger Things Saga. A season that is bigger than previous seasons that also has an inflated running time for some episodes. As we know just because a product appears to be bigger, that doesn't always translate to better. I also talk a little bit about the past seasons & which season I think was the worst in its run.

Vampire's Kiss (1988, Nicolas Cage)

For this week's episode of the Adam Analyzes podcast, I tackle the Nicolas Cage movie turned internet meme, Vampire's Kiss. A film, which upon its original release was a flop and also was a critical failure. Thankfully through the years, this little gem has found an audience, possibly for the wrong reasons.

Have a listen to find out why I feel this is a mostly misunderstood film & why it is definitely more than just a meme with an over the top Nicolas Cage performance!

Adam Analyzes: Lightyear (Pixar/Disney 2022)

For this week's episode of Adam Analyzes, I talk about the new film from Pixar. A film that is based in the Toy Story universe, that doesn't feature Tim Allen, but uses Chris Evans in the role as this is not the same Buzz Lightyear from the Toy Story universe. It also follows Buzz Lightyear's first encounter with the Zerg!! Did I mention this somehow is one of the most controversial films of the year?

Have a listen to find out what I thought of the new film from Pixar, if its an actual good movie & does this one truly deserve the the controversy surrounding it?

Adam Analyzes: Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (2022)

Adam Analyzes: Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (2022)

When you need help just call...Ch-Ch-Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers!! Thats right, for this episode of Adam Analyzes, I took a look at the streaming on Disney Plus, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers film! This Akiva Schaffer directed film takes the meta approach that I feel suits the material well. It is also a film that boasts a fairly impressive voice cast that includes John Mulaney & Andy Samberg in the title roles.

Adam Analyzes: Inland Empire (2006, David Lynch 4K Restoration)

Adam Analyzes: Inland Empire (2006, David Lynch 4K Restoration)

For this episode of Adam Analyzes, I drove to the fantastic Enzian Theatre in Maitland, FL to see the 4K restoration of David Lynch's Inland Empire, which as of right now is his final feature film. A film that had a tag line of "A Girl In Trouble", kind of perfectly states this film, as it is not an easy watch, but had a quality that sticks with you long after viewing.
