Amaranthe - Interview with Olof Mörck | EP54
Amaranthe
Triumphs, tragedies, rebirths and upheavals… Life is often defined by its moments of revelation. 15 years into a career that has seen them become one of metal’s most ruthlessly individual and uplifting bands, AMARANTHE are about to make their most definitive and revealing move. Three years on from the widely acclaimed Manifest, Sweden’s masters of thunderous, melodic futurism are about to unveil The Catalyst.
Formed in 2008, AMARANTHE walked their own unique path from the start. With a sound that combined the sharpest, cutting edges of melodic metal, electronic rock and razor-sharp pop, their impact was immediate and undeniable. Kicking off with their self-titled debut in 2011, the Swedes blazed a trail through the European metal scene and beyond, swiftly establishing themselves as a dazzling one-off, not least due to the unprecedented triple vocal attack that paired clean tones with exquisite melodic sensibilities and feral growls. Over the next few years, the sextet steadily grew in stature, releasing a series of praised studio records that jabbed persistently at the boundaries of modern metal.
From 2013’s fiery The Nexus and its immaculate follow-up Massive Addictive, through to the experimental bravery of 2016’s Maximalism and 2018’s Helix (which saw the arrival of Dynazty vocalist Nils Molin, replacing the departing Jake E), AMARANTHE have been an unwavering breath of invigorating fresh air, renowned for absurdly catchy and crushing pop-metal anthems and for euphoric, eye-popping live performances all over the globe.
Fast forward to 2023, and change is in the air. Pieced together over the last three years, The Catalyst is a self-evident breakthrough moment, and the most exhilarating and idiosyncratic record AMARANTHE have ever made.
One major contributory factor to this impressive forward stride is the arrival of AMARANTHE’s latest new member. Slotting in neatly alongside Elize Ryd and Nils Molin is the band’s new master of growls, Mikael Sehlin.
Now fully installed as the sixth piece of the AMARANTHE jigsaw – alongside Olof Mörck, Elize Ryd, Nils Molin, bassist Johan Andreasson and drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen – Mikael Sehlin can be heard revelling in his new creative partnerships on The Catalyst.
Due for release early in 2024, The Catalyst fully delivers on the promise of its title. AMARANTHE have always been original thinkers and maverick songwriters, but never with as much power and panache as they demonstrate this time around. Both their finest album to date and a collection of songs that deftly redefine every aspect of the Swedes’ sound, The Catalyst is destined to propel its creators ever higher up the modern metal ladder. For Olof Mörck, it represents the culmination of 15 years of hard work and the breathless pursuit of a wholly original musical vision. Change is inevitable. Victory is assured.

Infected Rain - Interview with Lena Scissorhands | EP53
Infected Rain
INFECTED RAIN experienced their most successful years yet in 2022 and 2023, commencing with the release of their fifth full-length album, Ecdysis. The album garnered prime media acclaim, hundreds of thousands of streams and views, and debuted in the Top 20 on the US Current Hard Music charts - all accented by worldwide performances at major festivals and with the likes of Butcher Babies, Wednesday 13 and more. On February 9, 2024, the band will climb even higher with their multifaceted sixth album, TIME. Described by the multinational band as “an homage to every fleeting second, every heartbeat, and every breath that has led us to this moment,” TIME was once again produced, mixed and mastered by Valentin Voluta, and combines the deft talents of returning members Vidick (guitars, cover artist), Eugene Voluta (drums) and famed frontwoman Lena Scissorhands (vocals), plus introduces new member Alice Lane (bass) to the fold. INFECTED RAIN exercise their trademarks with TIME, tastefully accenting the introspective musical journey with effectively-placed progressive, electronic and even nu-metal features amid ethereal passages. First track “BECAUSE I LET YOU” bursts in with undeniable energy, boasting aggressive lyrics and Lena Scissorhands’ swift, menacing delivery. Previously released first single “DYING LIGHT” marches with subterranean heaviness and rhythmic grooves beneath eerie vocals and keys, and even snaps into an EDM passage, showcasing the dynamic delivery of the band in 2024. “NEVER TO RETURN” flirts with trip-hop elements and far eastern instrumentation before the melodic ode to self-empowerment “LIGHTHOUSE” crashes in to juxtapose soft verses and intense auditory shifts. Album standout and djent driven “VIVARIUM” warns of society’s fickle freedoms as Lena Scissorhands delivers some of the album’s most hair-raising screams amid a haunting, ominous atmosphere, while fast-paced burners like “THE ANSWER IS YOU” and “ENMITY” flash between various EDM, synthwave and even drum and bass brushed transits amid bludgeoning rhythms. Intense “GAME OF BLAME” explores themes of hypocrisy and emotional pain delved out by those we love while boasting one of the album’s most searing breakdowns, while tracks like “PANDEMONIUM” and “UNPREDICTABLE” detail the uncontrollable energy of the future and past, respectively - boasting lofty, angelic verses with hard-hitting guitars and punching drums. Italian/English-language journey “PAURA” closes out the album with a path to self-discovery - beckoning the listener to understand that we limit ourselves with our own fears, and must harness the pain to overcome. TIME ends in a state of calm with ambient finisher “A SECOND OR A THOUSAND YEARS” - drawing the curtains closed on yet another fantastic, experimental expedition by rising stars INFECTED RAIN.

Brume - Interview with Jamie and Jordan | The Story of Marten | EP52
Brume (pronounced ‘Broom’) are living proof that California is not all sunshine and easy living. The San Francisco-based quartet organically blends doom metal, goth, and indie rock into a sometimes monolithic, sometimes delicate blend of heaviness that resides firmly on the darker side.
After a decade of sultry sounds and hair-raising crescendos, Brume push sonic experimentation and delightful genre-bending even further on their third full-length album “Marten”. The expansion into a four-piece with the addition of Jackie Perez Gratz on cello and vocals has opened a cosmos of new possibilities that the Californians determinedly explore. Weaving soaring melodies over melancholic doom pop generates songs that are equally intimate and haunting yet also massive and crushing.
Brume originally formed as a trio in 2014 when guitarist Jamie McCathie from Bristol, England began making music with bass player and vocalist Susie McMullan from Baton Rouge, Louisiana after discovering a shared passion for both trip-hop and sludge. The addition of Jordan Perkins-Lewis on drums completed the line-up with his rich and experimental style of drumming, and set the stage for the band’s recordings.
The trio quickly gained momentum with their doom metal albums “Rooster” (2017) and “Rabbits” (2019), the former being named “Album of the Year” by The Ripple Effect and the latter earning the top spot on Wonderbox Metal’s “Best of 2019” list. Brume also left their mark onstage, appearing at Desertfest London in 2017 and Desertfest New York and SXSW in 2019, along with many more shows on both sides of the Atlantic.
On third album “Marten”, Brume perfectly balance the melancholic power of the cello with forceful vocals and dueling guitar conversations. The complex mood swings that seamlessly move from sensuous and restrained to soaring and explosive found a perfect producer in Sonny DiPerri (Emma Ruth Rundle, Lord Huron, Portugal The Man). With the right engineer behind the board, the San Franciscans adopted a songwriting approach that emphasised poetry and lyrics rather than starting with a riff. This way of working uncovered a more vulnerable side of the band.
With “Marten”, Brume take a bold step toward their musical future by challenging first themselves and now listeners to move from comfortable spaces toward more challenging, less familiar destinations.

Title: Electric Citizen - Interview with Ross Dolan
Bio: “Frontwoman Laura Dolan is one of the best in the business, and she sounds fantastic on this recording [“Evil”], wailing over heavy organs and a chugging riff. Howling Giant | EP49
HOWLING GIANT Every song on HOWLING GIANT's sophomore album "Glass Future" tells its own story. Yet even without an overarching concept, all could exist within the same universe. Such crafty lyrical world-building is hardly surprising coming from a trio of enthusiastic fantasy and science fiction aficionados. "Glass Future" downright asks to inspire a book or graphic novel, even as it explodes with furious energy and thunderous acrobatics. Musically, "Glass Future" offers a continuation and evolution of all the elements that made the debut album "The Space Between Worlds" (2019) such a success. HOWLING GIANT entice classic metal and hard rock to interact dynamically with spacy, prog-infused passages, desert and psychedelic metal moments, rock organs, catchy hooks, and top everything off with soaring harmonized vocals. HOWLING GIANT hail from one of the most legendary places for music on earth: Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Despite the city's reputation for assembly-line pop country, the town called Music City is a place of deep history, where brilliant songwriters and virtuoso session players keep dozens of musical legacies burning bright. Fertile ground, then, for a preeminent fuzz-psych power trio who consciously live in the pocket of that lineage. During the last two years, the trio integrated bassist Sebastian Baltes, the son of German metal legends ACCEPT's former bass player Peter Baltes, fully into the band as a co-writer. HOWLING GIANT take a gargantuan leap forward with "Glass Future" that brings their outstanding musicianship and golden-throated triple vocal attack fully into stride. Nothing to do but try to keep up and enjoy the stunning sonic scenery along the way!

Coogans Bluff - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP48
Coogans Bluff
From the very start they’ve been critically acclaimed yet so many have failed to put the right genre tag on them. It hardly seems possible to find an adequate classification for their music with so many epochs and styles floating in, that’s for sure. Every album bears new influences, highlights certain musical parts and lets others move further to the background – or disappear completely. Krautrock, Progressive, Fusion, Spacerock, Psychedelic and Bluesrock – it’s all part of the routing. Even Stonerrock, Funk and Heavy-something if you count in older material
Heavy Temple - Interview with High Priestess Nighthawk - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP47
HEAVY TEMPLE are back from extensively touring across the United States and for the first time also Europe. They are also back from the rehearsal room where the making of new songs became far more of a group effort than on the debut album. And finally back from Animal Farm studio where John Forrestal gave the new album "Garden of Heathens" a rich and warm organic sound that is also crisp and crystalline. Where the debut full-length "Lupi Amoris" charged forward like a roaring mastodon, "Garden of Heathens" comes across more diverse and sophisticated without losing punch or heaviness. And while the powerful vocals of frontwoman High Priestess Nighthawk provide a strong gravitational pull, HEAVY TEMPLE always remain a riff-first kind of band. Even so, the heavy-touring Philadelphia, PA trio have expanded their range to encompass an even wider breadth of rock and metal road stops, from BARONESS to THE BEATLES and BLACK SABBATH to FU MANCHU – with many crossroads in between. Lyrically, Nighthawk wrote her most personal lines so far as the album revolves thematically around things that aren't real – from the American Dream to relationships. No matter how shiny something looks, below the surface lurk anxiety, betrayal, and doubt. HEAVY TEMPLE came into existence on the 2012 winter solstice during a night filled with the pure enjoyment of creating and playing heavy music. Once established, the band started playing live and soon got to tour alongside such notables as RUBY THE HATCHET, ROYAL THUNDER, and CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and they also got to play at notable festivals such as The Maryland Doom Fest and Psycho Las Vegas among many others. Following the two EPs "Heavy Temple” (2014) and "Chassit" (2016) and a number of singles, HEAVY TEMPLE at last took a break from heavy touring to record their first full-length. "Lupi Amoris" (“Wolves of Love”) that was released in 2021 to strong applause from both critics and followers alike. This album opened new doors including more festival appearances, a US tour with THE OBSESSED and their first tour of Europe with friends and labelmates HOWLING GIANT. HEAVY TEMPLE are not just back, they are here to stay. "Garden of Heathens" gives strong testimony that the trio is pushing hard to broaden their spectrum and break through any preconceptions and obstacles in front of them. "Garden of Heathens" sheds new light and a wider perspective on heavy and desert rock, psychedelia, and doom metal. Check this out!

Hippie Death Cult - Interview with Eddie Brnabic ◆ Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP46
Hippie Death Cult
Hippie Death Cult's journey through shameless and triumphant artistic expression has led them to become a vibrant force in the realms of psychedelia and riff-heavy rock n' roll. Throughout their formative years, the band underwent what proved to be a very significant evolution, transitioning from a 4-piece to a more cohesive and harmonious power trio. This lineup currently consists of guitarist and founder Eddie Brnabic, vocalist and bassist Laura Phillips, and drummer Harry Silvers. In 2019, Hippie Death Cult caught the attention of Cursed Tongue Records, who signed them for the release of their highly anticipated album "111." The record was met with widespread acclaim, solidifying their place in the music scene. Building on this success, the band made another significant move in 2021 by signing with Heavy Psych Sounds Records. This partnership resulted in the release of their album "Circle of Days" and a split release titled "Doom Sessions Vol.5" with label mates High Reeper. Both full-length albums soared to the very top of the Doom Charts as well as many “Album Of The Year” lists, further cementing their status as a rising force in the genre. Beyond their studio work, Hippie Death Cult is renowned for their electrifying and passionate stage performances. Their captivating stage presence have taken them on tours across the United States, Canada, and Europe, where they have garnered a dedicated and growing fanbase.

Blackwater Holylight and Iron Jinn ◆ Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP45
Blackwater Holylight
Blackwater Holylight, as the name suggests, is all about contrasts. It’s a fluid convergence of sound that’s heavy, psychedelic, melodic, terrifying and beautiful all at once. As a heavy band, their songs aren’t anchored to riffs, but rather riffs come and go in waves that surface throughout the band’s meditative, entrancing songs. It’s a hypnotic sound, with orchestral structures that often build tension and intrigue before turning the song on its head — not by simply getting louder or heavier, nor by just layering elements. They expertly subvert the implied heaviness of a part, dissecting it and splaying the songs guts out to seep across the sonic spectrum.

IRON JINN
Iron Jinn are Oeds Beydals (The Devils Blood/Molassess/Death Alley), Wout Kemkens (Shaking Godspeed/De Niemanders), Bob Hogenelst (Birth of Joy/Molassess) and Gerben Bielderman (Pauw) and their debut full length on Stickman Records (21st of April 2023) is a frantic album that follows the logic of a dream; none. The nine songs on the album are the result of a chaotic accumulation of modern world impressions, information and conversations that are forcefully pushed through a human funnel: the minds of Iron Jinn.

SKYND ◆ Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP43
SKYND
We all conceal something behind the earthly façade we show to the world. Maybe it's an unspoken fetish. Perhaps it's a covetous urge. Or it could just be the kind of darkness we acknowledge in passing —but don't dare reference out loud. SKYND peel back those layers and uncover what lurks beneath in all of its painful glory. The industrialized gothic electronic duo — Skynd [lead vocals] and "Father" [producer, multi-instrumentalist] —exorcize beauty by bloodletting as they mine some of history’s most baffling, bizarre, and brutal crimes across their EPs.

MARES OF THRACE
Canadian mixed-race mixed-gender two-piece Mares of Thrace deal in a brand of heaviness that draws as much from noise rock and hardcore as it does from the doom metal they’re commonly grouped with. Their three critically-acclaimed releases have been punctuated with international tours, where their live show has gained a reputation for what Absolute Underground Magazine described as “[sounding] like there are at least five people onstage”. Founded in 2009 by Trez (vocals, guitar) and Stef (drums), Mares released their debut The Moulting in 2010, where it topped campus radio charts and was hailed by PopMatters as “superb”; they signed to Canada’s Sonic Unyon Records shortly thereafter. 2012’s The Pilgrimage was produced by Sanford Parker (Voivod, Yob) and praised by Pitchfork, Decibel, and Terrorizer, as well as a nod from Canada’s prestigious Polaris Prize. After several North American tours, a long hiatus followed; they re-emerged in 2022 with Trez remaining at the helm, and long-standing Mares friend and collaborator Casey on drums, bass, and electronics. 2022’s The Exile was deemed by many reviewers as their finest work to date; Decibel praised its “nuance, vulnerability, and maturity”, and AngryMetalGuy called it “the sound of a band in its prime, not one just slinking back in from the cold”. A tour with noise/doom heavyweights KEN mode and Vile Creature followed.

OFF! ◆ Interview with Keith Morris and Dimitri Coats ◆ Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP39
**A Reminder! The Interceptor Beyond Show as a part of the BLACK RABBIT event is happening on September 9th at Arena Beisl. It is a late night talk show, taped in front of a live audience. **
OFF!’s first new album in eight years translates the work of an alien race attempting to rebuild the remains of your destroyed record collection. Free LSD hits reset like The Beatles conjuring Revolver, The Walker Brothers Nite Flights refusal to be a reunion record, or that album by Baby Huey where every influence merges so effortlessly that it is simply one sound unified. Like the first 3 records, the raging two-minute bonfires that make up Free LSD were written by the core of the band, Keith Morris & Dimitri Coats. The album introduces new members, drummer Justin Brown (Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Herbie Hancock) and bassist Autry Fulbright II (...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead), who push the idea of punk into another dimension. Coats blankets a number of these tracks with layers of electronics and Morris sounds timeless. Keith Morris says, "After making music for as long as I have, it was time to use a palette that includes lime green, turquoise, and magenta instead of the typical colors and shades that were involved in all of the other break neck and car chase scenarios. Miles Davis with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters as opposed to Milo Goes to College."

The Psychotic Monks
Hailing from Paris, The Psychotic Monks are one of the heaviest noise rock/post punk forces on the continent. Pounding drums, rhythms that make you wanna punch the air, atmospheric breaks, industrial jangling, all displayed in an intense live performance.

Lillie Creatures
Haunting vocal-harmonies, acoustic guitar and effect pedals synthesize ethereal melodies and pulsating loops into an idiosyncratic micro-orchestra. Otherworldly with a punk-hearted tweak, her compositions unfold in kaleidoscopic songs, oscillating somewhere between psychedelia, avant-garde folk and acoustic space rock. Her performance will be accompanied by mesmerizing visuals complementing and adding to the ethereal musical performance.

The Melvins - Interview with Buzz Osborne - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP36
**A Reminder! The next live “Interceptor Beyond Show” as a part of BLACK RABBIT event is happening on July 15th at Arena Beisl.**
The Melvins
It's no overstatement to say the Melvins thoroughly reformulated the sound of heavy guitar music in America in both the punk underground and the hard-rock mainstream. This is no small feat, considering that the band—cofounded by guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover in Montesano, WA, in 1983—have always been unconventional cult artists. Across their first five full-lengths, from 1987's Gluey Porch Treatments to 1993's Houdini, they developed a grinding synthesis of Black Sabbath-inspired metal and hardcore punk aggression that influenced not only Nirvana and grunge but also sludge, stoner rock, doom, and drone metal. The Melvins aren't just heavy, however: They're weird and irreverent, too. You can hear it in Osborne's gnarled bellows and absurdist lyrics. That sensibility also explains why their records—especially those released after hooking up with Mike Patton's Ipecac label in 1999—boast such wildly different personalities. Their 2004 collaboration with industrial pioneer Lustmord descends into dark ambient; by contrast, 2018's Pinkus Abortion Technician is a slab of '70s rock worship featuring Butthole Surfers legend Jeff Pinkus on bass. There's real freedom in the Melvins' unpredictability, and it's just as central to their legacy as all their brilliantly crawling riffs and thunderous grooves.

A Place To Bury Strangers
In 2003, Brooklyn’s A Place To Bury Strangers emerged on the scene out of Oliver Ackermann’s psychotropic vision. Often cited as ‘ the loudest band in New York’, APTBS is known for their vicious live performances overloaded with all-consuming visuals, experimental sonic warfare, and treacherous stage destruction. On record, it is pop hooks layered with the sounds of broken machinery and syrup.

Melt Downer
Straight from Austria's underground, Melt Downer blend heavy psych rock with dub, post hardcore and noise rock. Released two full lengh albums on Numavi, Cut Surface, Phantom and Rock is Hell. Toured a bit, played a lot and shared the stage with soulmates such as METZ and Destruction Unit - their sets left even these genre heavyweights with gaping mouths.

DUSK - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP34
DUSK
If the very last solar ray vanishes from these sere and harsh grounds humanity is used to occupy the wan four are ready to hit the road releasing darkness and spreading heaviness over rugged land. Mesmerizing vocal fortitude closes the vicious circle and sets free an untameable thunderstorm.

Glazed Curtains and Hidden Gemz - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP33
Glazed Curtains
Hey, we’re Glazed Curtains, a band consisting of the four members Consti, Max, Jay & Matei. We are hanging around since 2019 and do music together. Coming from a background of the early 90’s, with influences of bands like Guns N’ Roses, Oasis or Nirvana, we tried to combine heavy riffs with modern elements, to keep a younger audience interested in the one thing we really care about: Making instruments count!
The predominant positive feedback for our past singles encouraged us to prove that with a full-length album called Excuse Me I Got Insomnia, earlier next year. That being said we would really look forward to meet you in person on any of our shows and officially welcome you to the Glazy Family!

PARADEISER - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP32
PARADEISER
(Thrashmetal-Punk Duo)
“Vier Saiten, a Drumset und Bier - all downhill from here…”

Aptera swirls forth in a sonic tornado of classic metal, doom, psych, thrash and punk. With members hailing from Italy, Belgium, the US and Brazil, they heeded the call and converged in Berlin, joining their global heavy sensibilities in a cacophony of lashing riffs and propulsive rhythms. Weaving together contemporary and mythological tales of rebellion, revenge, and rising from the ashes, Aptera's “You Can’t Bury What Still Burns” is a guttural cry, a battle call, a resurrection on wings of fire.

The Great Grey Funk - Interview with Yola and Paul - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP29
Being a vernacular term for long and foggy winters, it should come as no surprise that the band behind The Great Gray Funk seeks to capture that certain eeriness and darkness with its music. As the band emerged during times of pandemic-induced isolation in late fall of 2020, the name seemed doubly appropriate. Over the next two years, the band made its first live appearances and recorded its debut album, to be released in 2023 via StoneFree Records.
While carrying their influences on their sleeves, the band does not shy away from expanding their sonic horizon through constant experimentation. Doom-loaded riffs, bittersweet melodies and in-your-face drumbeats are just as likely to be found alongside catchy hooks and intricate instrumentation, with the occasional cheeky guitar solo thrown in. Consequently, The Great Gray Funk’s music invites the audience to repeat listenings. There is always something new to find and appreciate.

Truckfighters
Forming in 2001 and quickly making a rise in the stoner scene with their first albums in Gravity X and Phi, the band earned a reputation among the top desert rock acts with their energetic live performances and brash persona. Notably all of the members adopt pseudonyms, with Bassist/Vocalist Ozo and Guitarist Dango being the sole original members throughout.
Their music is often considered to be classic desert rock in the vein of Fu Manchu, Kyuss and Dozer. Hints of psychedelic rock, fuzz rock and heavy metal appear in their songs but their core is the desert sound. Through their tenure, Truckfighters managed to release five studio albums and tour all over the world before an indefinite hiatus in 2018, only to reunite less than a year later touring the entirety of Gravity X.

Kaelan Mikla
Kælan Mikla was founded in 2013 as an entry in a poetry competition. In the following years they continued to emerge and establish themselves as a solid part of the Reykjavik grassroots scene. In 2015, the song Kalt was released and attracted a lot of attention abroad. Subsequently, the band began performing with various well-known bands abroad. Over the past five years Kælan Mikla have travelled continuously and have released three LPs. Robert Smith, the front-man of the immortal band The Cure is a big fan and has booked Kælan Mikla to play at the various festivals he has curated, alongside iconic bands such as Pixies, Slowdive, Deftones, as well as having them solely open for the rock band Placebo. Following the release of their third LP, Nótt eftir nótt, they have gained a large audience amongst fans of dark and dreary music, but what really makes Kælan Mikla stand out is the strong audiovisual adventure through their magical world that is constantly evolving and always leaves the crowd with a memorable concert experience. The band's fourth album, Undir Köldum Norðurljósum, was released in 2021 to international acclaim and featured a guest appearance by French blackgaze band Alcest.

Tarah Who? - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP26
“Tarah Who?. It’s not a question that needs to be answered. Tarah Who? is a rising statement in the progressive punk/grunge scene”. Carl Lawrence Knauf
From their humble beginnings playing DIY shows and warehouses to now repping their sound at prestigious European festivals (Hellfest, Wheels & Waves Motorcycle Festival), Tarah Who? has been turning heads with their brand of high-octane grunge-punk. Equally as visceral as it is cathartic, their sound collides bold lyricism and relentless instrumentation, mirroring the spirit and attitude of Punk Rock.
Masterminded by Tarah Carpenter, her output has earned her feature-story coverage from Rolling Stone France, Voici, Tatouage Magazine, GIG Radar, Kill The Music, La Grosse Radio, Loud Stuff, Moshville, Music Connection, Muzak, and The Ring Master, among other outlets.
Alongside producers Jason Orme (Alanis Morissette) and Norm Block (L7), she is currently gearing up to release their brand new full-length album, titled, ‘The Collaboration Project.’ Head to https://tarahwho.com/ for more info.

Kadabra (Garrett, Chase and Ian) and Warlung (George) - Field Interview - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP24
Kadabra
In 2020, a year wrecked with cultural dissent and a global pandemic, fellow musicians and long-time friends Garrett Zanol and Ian Nelson decided to create a band that would pull influence from a few of their favorite musical acts. After retaining the talents of their favorite local drummer Chase Howard, the group got to work on writing an album that illustrates their current climate. Kadabra from Spokane, Washington U.S., delivers the eerie psyche crawl of acts like Dead Meadow and the heavy fuzzed riff grime of Pentagram. In fall the of 2020, they tracked their debut album “Ultra” with Dawson Scholz, and it is set to release this fall on Heavy Psych Sounds Records

Warlung
Founded in 2016, former members of Houston's The Dead Revolt and Rivers joined forces to push the limits of song writing and creativity. Inspired by the sounds of old, WARLUNG has taken what the 70's era of rock and psychedelia gave us and turned it into a hi-powered, white knuckled ride down the rock n' roll highway.

Parasol Caravan - Interview with Bertram and Richard - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP22
Ready for take-off? Buckle up and hold on tight when the “fuzztronauts” of PARASOL CARAVAN start their spaceship and speed across the stage with the riff force of a supernova. The Linz-based band counts on calm psychedelic moments merged with heavy fuzz and driving guitar riffs, a fusion epitomizing the right amount of progressiveness and beaming the listener directly into orbit.

Clutch (Tim Sult) and Tigercub (Jamie and Jimi) - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP21
Tigercub
“Tigercub steps up to claim the front runner status as the new heavy. They emerge from Brighton UK under the 7 foot frame of Mr. Jamie Hall and his Tigercub.” ~ Stone Gossard
Revolver announced that Loosegroove Records has signed Tigercub c/w US Headlines dates in conjunction with their US & Canada shows supporting Clutch & EYEHATEGOD.
The signing of Tigercub on Loosegroove Records marks the reboot of the influential indie label that Gossard founded back in 1994 with Regan Hagar.
Significantly Gossard and Hagar signed Queens of the Stone Age and released the band’s debut album in 1998, providing a foundation to build to where they are now.
“When we discovered Tigercub, it felt like the right time to start Loosegroove back up,” says Hagar. Stone adds “It’s almost 23 years to date that Queens of the Stone Age debuted at Mercury Lounge in NYC. And now Tigercub makes their Big Apple debut in the same club on April 16th. This is just the beginning for this incredibly talented group from Brighton UK to enlighten us Yanks to the sound of the new heavy!”
Tigercub’s latest album ‘As Blue As Indigo’ was met with rave reviews from metal, rock and alt press internationally, establishing the band’s genre-pushing originality.
Written over two years, ‘As Blue As Indigo’ champions introspections drawing on the subjectivity of colour, paired with masterclass songwriting, mind-bending arrangements constructed with boundary-pushing production.

Clutch
CLUTCH shares more in common with The Grateful Dead, Rush, and the Allman Brothers than their heavy riffs and heady twists-of-phrase might suggest. Because like those bands, the supporters who adore CLUTCH are there for the experience, community, and authentic connection.
To love CLUTCH is to feel a sense of ownership, membership, and belonging.
A worldwide cabal of fans and critics cherish the band’s dense and diverse catalog of underground classics, released through major labels, indies, and since 2009, Clutch’s own Weathermaker imprint. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach, the band’s thirteenth studio album, is a slamming summary of everything that makes the band great and another giant leap forward into career longevity.
New bangers like “Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone),” “Nosferatu Madre,” “Skeletons on Mars,” “Jackhammer Our Names,” and “Mercy Brown” take their rightful place alongside the classics. Sunrise On Slaughter Beach is the natural culmination of what Clutch began as teenagers in the early ‘90s.
Sunrise On Slaughter Beach introduces some “firsts” into the Clutch canon: vibraphone (from Gaster), theremin (J. Robbins), and female backup vocals from singers Deborah Bond and Frenchie Davis. The album’s nine songs are a diverse ride, destined to please longtime fans and intrigue newcomers alike. It&rsq

Slomosa
Hailing from the west of Norway, the four-piece Slomosa has been making waves across borders. With their heavy sound the band coined their own genre - Tundra Rock - inspired by the American Desert scenes of the '90s. Influenced by bands such as Kyuss , Elder and Black Sabbath , their music is both heavy and groovy at the same time, with raw vocals and thunderous guitars.
Growing up in a part of the country where high mountains and wild nature surrounds one, the group eventually came together in Bergen – coined by many as “the music capital of Norway”. After their debut concert late 2017, the band got signed despite not having released any music.
After building a following through extensive gigging in their hometown, the band started working on their debut album. In October 2019 their first single, Horses , was released on all platforms, to much acclaim. The song premiered on national radio in Norway, with a notable Norwegian music journalist claiming it to be “...some of the best rock he’d heard the last years”.
Their two following singles - There is Nothing New Under the Sun and In My Mind's Desert - further contributed to the band's growing hype, with Spotify listing their music on their official Stoner Rock playlist. Both singles further showcased Slomosa 's unique ability to merge heavy riffs with catchy songwriting, catching the attention of rock fans all over the world.
In late August '20 the band released their much anticipated self-titled debut album Slomosa .

Sasquatch
Sasquatch is a rock band from Los Angeles, CA. The band was born in Philadelphia in 2000 and moved to Los Angeles in 2001 after Keith Gibbs (guitar, vox) joined up with Detroit natives Rick Ferrante (drums) and Clayton Charles (bass). Upon Clayton’s departure in 2007, the guys recruited Chicagoan Jason Casanova (Behold! The Monolith, Tummler) to join the fold. We arrive at 2017 and Dr. Craig Riggs (Roadsaw, Kind, Antler) is now shellacking the kit when he's not brewing coffee or watching the Red Sox.
The band’s music has been featured on a variety of movies, television shows, and video games including the reissue of Clerks, FX’s original hit series Sons of Anarchy, A&E's Dog The Bounty Hunter, Jersey Girl, CW’s The Supernatural, and MTV’s Viva La Bam, Bam’s Unholy Union, and Rob and Big, NHL 2005, American Chopper, and Monster Garage.
Coming off their first Australian tour and an extended US tour in 2019 with Nebula, the band headed back into the studio in 2020 and completed their six full-length record due out in March 2022. All’s fair in Love and Doom.

Hippie Death Cult - Interview with Eddie Brnabic - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP19
Hippie Death Cult have been described as “a journey through shameless and triumphant artistic expression, exploration and discovery” in the realms of psychedelia and riff-heavy rock n’ roll. During their formative years the band has transitioned from a 4 piece to a more consonant power trio consisting of guitarist Eddie Brnabic, vocalist/bassist Laura Phillips and drummer Ryan Moore. In 2019 they signed to Cursed Tongue Records for the release of “111” then in 2021 signed to Heavy Psych Sounds Records to release “Circle of Days” and Doom Sessions Vol.5, a split release with label mates High Reeper. Both full-length albums received international critical acclaim while debuting at #1 on the Doom Charts. The band is also known for their high energy and passionate stage performances, having headlined numerous sold out shows in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, in addition to touring throughout the west coast and south western United States. They are currently in production for their 3rd studio album and are set to announce extensive tours for both the United States, Canada and Europe starting in late summer 2022.

Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space - Interview with Dead Richy Gein - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP13
Bloodsucking Zombies from Outer Space – a name, to which there is not much left to add. At least to all that, what inevitably unfolds in your mind’s eye: zombies, massacres, and the apocalypse quasi – that much is clear.
However, the idea of a zombiesque horror show not even closely pays tribute to the four protagonists: Dead "Richy" Gein (voc), Mr. "Jim" Evilize (guit), Dejan Decay (upright bass), Reverend "Bloodbath" (guit, keys) and Marty Midnight (drums) are not grotesquely painted puppets, rather a sophisticated stage quartet, which has much to offer to both the eye and the ear. Accordingly, it is pretty hard to classify them as a specific genre, as they serve various ones. To put it all in a nutshell, let’s call it Horrorbilly – and having establishing a new musical genre only a few musicians can claim. The conceptual stage show, the perfect musical interaction and all the fun that this not entirely earthly troop has been having for more than 15 years now, are probably responsible for ensuring a steadily growing fan base, sold out shows and ongoing success. This was rewarded in 2015 with the awarding of an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category “Hard & Heavy". Not only over here but across the stages of the European continent, whether in Finland, Russia or in Germany - the masses were immediately beguiled with the Zombie spell.

Groundlift - Interview with Ace, Leah and Mike - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP12
Groundlift
Frontman Ace McCormack and bassist Mike Dutko instantly became friends when they had their first rehearsal and discovered their palpable musical synergy. Leah Bluestein became the obvious choice for drums when they heard her play like a combination of Dave Grohl and Neil Peart.
The joining of their three varied and eclectic music tastes resulted in a fresh, unique sound where Ace’s love of beautiful melodies, Dutko’s adventurous Queen-like writing style, and Leah’s unbridled technical prowess all shine through. They are three musicians obsessed with their craft, allowing each other to fire on all cylinders with no holds barred. Combining tasty and inventive licks with catchy melodic hooks, surreal lyrics, shredding guitar-drum-AND bass solos, and an unfathomable rhythmic tightness, Groundlift is truly a band unlike any other.
With their hard rock inspired vibe, thick pocketed grooves, and catchy tunes that will stick in your head for days, Groundlift is a band that can get the the hard-core punks back flipping into the moshpit, the indie fans singing along, and the fellow musicians nodding in approval all at the same time.
Beginning with hard rock and punk roots, the band expanded their sound into funk and progressive influences on their single “Till You Run Out of Time”. Now with their latest collaboration with producer Steve Evetts, the trio has honed their sound into a mix of classic rock and roll, funk, blues, progressive rock, and Brit-pop glory.

Johnny and the Rotten - Interview with Johnny, Mario and Tom - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP11
Johnny And The Rotten
Imagine the Beach Boys having weird, dirty, sweaty sex with Sonic Youth and their baby turns out to be an angry punk that doesn‘t give a fuck about the dos and don’ts of how to behave as a band. Johnny & the Rotten are a breath of fresh air to the yet oddly diverse and gifted music scene of Linz, Austria and probably the rest of the world. Expect the unexpected at each one of their shows but most importantly expect to be blown away by a noisy wall of sound and an overly energetic show that makes you wonder how only three dudes manage to deliver all of that.

► Mothers of the Land
The riff-smiths Mothers of the Land, have gained a reputation in the Austrian scene as an instrumental quartet that invites you to drift away and let loose with their sprawling psychedelic rock epics. Their debut album „Temple without Walls“ thunders with a heavy twin guitar assault mounted on a Proto-Metal body, and was recorded live in the studio without overdubs.

Hathors - Interview with Marc, Dominique and Thorsten - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP10
Some rock bands carry the burden of the world on their shoulders. Others just want to party. Hathors used to be firmly parked in the former camp. No longer! Hathors have made a discovery: Life isn’t life if there isn’t also a little light and love involved. The title of their new album gives it away, “Grief, Roses and Gasoline”. Roses? Anger about all sorts of social injustice (“Grief”) and sadness about the way we abuse the environment (“Gasoline”), like guitars, bass and drums, have been a part of Hathors from the very beginning. The roses, however, they are fresh. They stand for a warmer strand of emotions, a new lust for life, that flows through the album even when it makes the walls shake.

Yur Mum - Interview with Anelise and Fabio - Interceptor Beyond Podcast EP09
Yur Mum are a Brazilian rock duo, formed by Anelise Kunz (bass/Vocals) and Fabio Couto (drums), based in London. The band, who've been active since 2016, have played shows around the world, sharing the stage with DIY stalwarts like Maid Of Ace, Svetlanas, Healthy Junkies, Hands Off Gretel, I-Destroy & Dream Nails, as well as modern-day legends such as New Model Army, The Adolescents, Vice Squad, Kirk Brandon, UK Subs, The Vibrators and TV Smith.
In 2021 they signed to Chapter 22 Records, home of Dawn After Dark & Balaam And The Angel, in the UK and M&O Music in France for their new album, their first as a duo, Tropical Fuzz.
In order to write their future, the couple had to first revisit their roots, which resulted in a crossover of heavy rock, with melody, groove and a punk attitude.
