On this podcast we'll take actions with our messaing that lead to interviews. I'll be giving exact messages to send to whom. The first thing we need to do is to re-define what an interview is. Is is really always the conversation that follows an OA (online assessment) or resume submission? No! That is the most restrictive, least productive way to view it.

Ever wonder what makes a job hunt easy to control, or why it can be hard or why people fail at it? Hint: it’s not due to a lack of experience.

Successful job hunts come from having successful mindsets.

In this podcast, I talk about what is the best mindset for international students and how you can shift it to get more interviews and offers.

We often run into rejection in our job hunts before we ever start. This is called self-rejection.

It’s time to stop this harmful habit of self-rejecting and open up to what the job hunt has to teach us.

Why change? I know, right? Where we are is usually where we feel comfortable. But on the other hand, where we are now is NOT where we want to go.

In this episode, learn the easiest way to stop the OPT clock. Any offer can accomplish that; here I discuss finding a volunteer role to stop the clock if you are running out of time. When we volunteer, we need NOT work full-time, thus leaving us several more months and many hours in the day to conduct a structured job hunt.   

To be completely honest with you, my ideal clients are not those who are running out of time and trying to get just any job. This mindset is detrimental to finding a job that we actually like.   

This mindset also can make it difficult to think about aiming for a job that we really do want and being open and coachable to achieve that. However, we need to realize that running out of time on the “OPT clock” is all too common. It doesn’t need to happen and this video explains what to do at a high level.

One good reason to network over the summer: you’ll get interviews and offers this fall, and sooner if you want an offer now.

This is time sensitive - consider to start putting in the work now. Don’t miss this opportunity. This is what I call the #1 summer networking hack to ensure interviews and offers.

Most people approach networking with the thought: Why would anyone want to talk to me? If we don’t get beyond this, we just stay stuck, and we never make the meaningful job hunt advancements which are available to us.

Why anyone would want to talk to you depends entirely on you. In this training, I’m going to walk you through a process so that it becomes clear why people actually do want to talk to you, and which ones will. 

There is magic and math to getting an offer. We start off “invisible” to our dream firms, and if we keep working at it, we will become “irresistible” - and get an offer.

Math can help us understand how to get to irresistibility faster.

Now consider where the Math does NOT apply - as in “magic happening”.

Example: When Cara wanted a job, her vision was  “an apartment with a view of Manhattan's skyline and a pet cat.” And she wanted a job on Wall Street to pay for it. 

As soon as she started my coaching program, she found a related internship using my unique LinkedIn Messaging approach. Then she leveraged the internship into her full-time role on Wall Street. This is the power of “showing up” where “non-linear” effects can happen, which can feel like magic.

Got concerns about any lack of experience? Realize that they are NOT supported by the data.

You ask: What data?

This is the data that comes from your own job hunt effort.

You will find you actually have no data to support that “no one will interview me” or “my experience is not enough”!

For any concern about your ability, ask yourself, “Is that true”? “Does the data support that?”

Let the data guide you, not emotions.

And remember, “applying and waiting to hear back” was never a “thing” - never worked anyway. If you’ve successfully collected THAT data, it’s time to move into more productive job-hunting strategies.
