What Is It Really Like Being A Sex Worker? w/ Kaytlin Bailey

In this episode of the Black Light, Big O is joined by Kaytlin Bailey.  Sex worker advocate and activist.  We tackle what it means to be a sex worker.  The stereotypes and perceptions surrounding sex work.  And whether or not, someone can actually "be called" to do sex work.  Kaytlin Bailey, the founder and executive director of Old Pros, a sex worker rights group and the writer and performer of Whore's Eye View, a one-woman show about 10,000 years of prostitution, female emancipation, and sexual freedom.

Bailey and Old Pros seek not just to decriminalize sex work but to destigmatize it too, arguing that sex workers have not only provided a much-in-demand service but helped to push the boundaries of freedom and liberty. All that and much more.

Recreational Marijuana

Recreational marijuana will become legal for residents 21 and up in Maryland on Saturday, July 1. But this new law does not mean you can use these products everywhere.

Here is your guide to safe and legal recreational cannabis use:

All products from edibles to THC vapes must be purchased from a licensed dispensary. No one is allowed to possess more than 750 milligrams of THC, 1.5 ounces of flower or 12 grams of concentrated cannabis at one time, according to the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA). Civil and criminal penalties for additional possession depend on how much more a person has over the legal amount.

Body of Rasheem Carter Found With Head Severed In Mississippi - San Francisco NAACP Rejects Reparations Proposal | ITBP S7E7

On this week’s episode, we continue our conversation about Ja Morant. After spending a week in a rehab center, and with plans on returning to NBA play this week, many are asking if mental health was the real reason he left. And why it seems as though he was rushed back to play? Also on the show, the San Francisco branch of the NAACP decided to reject the proposed offer of reparations the city had put together, which included money pay outs of up to $5M dollars. What was their reasoning? And Ben Crump, is once again, fighting for another family to get answers. The body of Rasheem Carter was found with it’s head severed, in the woods of Mississippi, in October of 2022. This gruesome find happened just a month after he made reports to the police of being chased by “truck loads” of White men hurling racial slurs. What really happened to him. And lastly, Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, has arguably the most diverse cabinet in the country. We discuss whether or not diversity is all it’s cracked up to be.

ITBP Throwback - Spanking Children: Does Sparing The Rod Really Spoil The Child? | ITBP S6E14

ITBP THROWBACK - In this week’s episode, our “Black Light” segment returns for another powerful conversation. We are joined by motivational speaker and author of “The Sun Is Always Shining: A Story of Adversity Turned To Triumph,” DeAntwann Johnson. He discusses his childhood experiences as a product of the foster care system, and how those experiences helped him fulfill his life’s purpose by bridging the communication gap between children and their parents. We also tackle why spanking and corporal punishment are prevalent tools in the Black community. We ask: where does it stem from, is it really needed, and what are the costs of spanking our children as part of child rearing? All this and how “gentle parenting” and communication can help build more purpose driven children. You don’t want to miss this.
