Recognising the 'able-ness', the ability of God is really the first step to overcoming our own sense of lack. God did not give us a spirit of lack! He displayed Himself as a glorious Father, an enabler of all inheritance and blessing. There is no lack IN HIM.

We have been raised with Christ, seated at the right hand of the Father. How we are known in heaven will expedite our deliverance from negativity, bondage from the enemy and a poverty mindset. Lack is not about economic vulnerability, but is more concerned about living with meagre possibilities. Our identity in Christ is our permission to step outside the confines of our personality into the fullness of God.

God does not allocate resources to our problems. He attaches them to our identity in Jesus. His primary purpose is in the revelation of our exact likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ.  We are 'Beholding so we can become what we already are'. In every situation we are learning how to grow up in all things in Christ, to walk worthy of the divine calling He has placed on our lives. This is a compelling episode!

This week we look at how God has not given us a spirit of lack! InChrist He introduced us to the display of His generosity. What a marvellous understanding this is. Like the woman at the well, regardless of what your life looks like today - whether you feel you’re on top of the mountain, or whether you’ve hit rock bottom! God wants to display His generosity towards you!

1 CORINTHIANS 2: 12

And the marvellous thing is this, that we now receive not the spirit of the world but the Spirit of God himself, so that we can actually understand something of God’s generosity towards us.

When John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus goes through a time of deep doubt, Jesus encourages him to go back and recognise the Word of God over His life. When we learn to take Him at His word, we move our lives and our expectations from a place of doubt, into a place of faith.

ROMANS 8: 15 - For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

Why does the Apostle Paul caution us against not receiving doubt and fear that comes from a mindset of slavery, and not freedom? Because it's possible for us to fall back into a life that does not reflect the freedom that we have received.

Before we get to explore the things that God has given and destined for us we have to understand the premise of this series: It’s not about achieving these things, or even achieving more, but fundamentally, it's receiving well! This is not just the premise to this podcast series, but the basic foundation of the entire Gospel.

The Word of God is custom fitted for your lips. The Word of God was made to be spoken. Confession is fundamental to faith. E.W. Kenyon said, “Confession builds the road over which faith carries its mighty cargo.” There is no other to run at a giant - discovering what God says about you is fundamental to our living in victory.

By speaking the word of God over your life you are simply reinforcing the victory and authority that Christ. So instead of allowing the symptoms of a broken life in Adam to control the outcome, and begging God to do something about it, take charge and start enforcing that which Christ has already accomplished on your behalf.

In Matthew 17 Jesus addresses our capacity to speak to mountains. He introduces the idea of 'unbelief' or 'small faith.' 'Small faith' is likened to someone who does not listen to hear what God is saying, and then to put that on their lips. Small faith begins with small listening.

My name is not David, and I am not about to battle with a giant. I am not a shepherd. I’ve never had to sling a stone at anyone. There is much here to understand and discover about how we can face difficult situations and circumstances in our own lives.

You speak because you are. You run at the giant with your mouth wide open, because you are. You don’t run at the giant, so you can defeat him, so you can become something! The purpose of Christ’s life on earth was to validate our humaness! He did not come to make us more spiritual, but to show us what true humanity looked like!

How does the understanding of who you are in Christ, find its expression in your everyday life? Are you still listening to the brothers, the Sauls or the Goliaths as a starting place for who you define yourself to be? Have you had the privilege of discovering the God-Image within your Self-Image? Or are you stuck inside the mind of the biggest culprit in the story - your own thinking?

I believe that they were not just a significant challenge to David’s journey and victory - I believe that these same characters are present in your life and mine. When you recognise this it brings wisdom, gives understanding, and it brings strategy to life!

I am convinced that if we got our hearts and our minds wrapped around the clear understanding of who we truly are in Christ, it would radically reshape how a lot of us are living!

This is not something that we tick off our list, and put it on the shelf. God has done absolutely everything to find spontaneous and effortless expression of His character in us! We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

In the Old Testament, God’s people lived with a 'visitation' culture. God would 'visit' His people. Unfortunately our thinking about the presence of God in our lives persists along the same line - God visits us, and then He’s off somewhere else doing all the God-things He does.

This type of thinking has blinded us to the incredible reality of the presence of God in our lives. You can hear it in people’s prayers, you hear it in some of the worship songs we sing, and we live as if God is here in one moment, and in the next He’s gone - as if we have to do something to magically conjure up the presence of the Holy Spirit with a few songs and the right musical atmosphere. Today's Episode challenges that type of thinking in our lives.

All the sermons I’ve ever heard about what happened at the cross always prompt me to identify with the crowd – the Roman soldiers, Mary, the mother of Jesus, the disciples, or someone in the crowd hollering ‘Crucify Him’. No one ever told me that the one we were supposed to identify is Jesus, because in that moment he deeply identified Himself with me. This is a game-changer.

Your life always moves in the direction of your strongest thoughts! Whatever your paradigm is about yourself, about God and about the cross - your life will always move in that direction.
