Episode 78: Gotta Win 9 of 10 Right Now

Episode 78: Gotta Win 9 of 10 Right Now

Gotta win 9 of 10 right now is exactly what needs to happen. The Phillies got the win today against the White Sox to win the series now it's back home vs. the Mountains and Sailors (Rockies and Mariners). Very winnable in our honest opinions. But we first talk about the silver linings to start the first 19 games of the season and some news and notes. Good new regarding the Phillies Pride and Joy with Bryce Harper. AND Ranger will be back soon. And other than that, we really do not want to talk about these guys. Since it's been a little while, we touch briefly on the lost Fish series at home and the split with the Reds...at home. Luckily, they escaped with the series win today with an all -out performance by Trea Turner, Marsh and Walker. Needless to say, there are a lot of inconsistencies and things that this team needs badly right now. Hopefully, the offense can come alive and pitching can calm down sooner than later. But who knows, it's the Phillies. We end with talking about the Braves' and Rays' cake schedules to start the season and then onto the Pod Poll and Dad Jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 77: Home At Last

Episode 77: Home At Last

Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates! On today's pod, it's all about the Home Opener and the return to the Bank. It's good to be home and also to win 2 in a row. We win one tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before. We give a few shoutouts to start it off, more so some silver linings for the shaky start to the season. Then some concerns, well, Brandon's concern that is not really a concern, but something to watch for in tomorrow's game with Walker. Then it's smooth sailing from there with the opener and today's (Saturday) Walk-Off Win by Stott! The boys are buzzing after that as they go will bring their brooms tomorrow. And that is totally fitting for one Dad joke we have for the people. As far as buzzing goes. We also have the Pod Poll as well. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 76: Opening Series From Hell

Episode 76: Opening Series From Hell

It's bad. It's all bad over here. This is it everyone...the season is over. No, just our nightmares coming true to start off the season. Which we get into in this one. The Phillies are 0-2 to start things off as the pitching staff continues to show no signs of life against the Texas Rangers. The offense was good enough to win the Opening Day game, but not today. Just lackluster performances all around in the pitching staff. They need to figure things out, and quick. The offense has shown signs of the brilliance we thought it would be with the new rules in place, but just a sad showing. We go on to talk more in depth about Aaron Nola and what kind of deal he may or may not have been looking for. We also touch on the pitch clock rules and potential pitcher/batter fatigue. As well as the loser shit of how bad the behind the plate umpiring has been already. I guess we can still have hopes of a 160-2 season, right? Anyway...Enjoy, and PLAY BALL!

Episode 75: 2023 Phillies Season Preview

Episode 75: 2023 Phillies Season Preview

Welp...the title of this episode pretty much sums it up. We mainly talk the 2023 season preview, but first, we talk about the new and exciting adventure we are taking as a podcast as we hope it leads to bigger and better things. Then, we get into the heart breaking injury news of Rhys Hoskins. Yes, we know it happened a few day ago. Sue us. But that happened and we are super bummed for him for this season. The Phillies definitely lost something special. However, they do still have the pieces to tighten up and move forward. We also talk Phillies new acquisition Cristian Pache and how well he will do in the organization especially alongside Kevin Long. We try to wrap things up quickly with record predictions and season awards, but find out even quicker how unprepared we are and that we have absolutely no idea what we are talking about when it comes to the best players in the league. WHOOPS. We end the pod on a better-ish note with a good Pod Poll and some Dad Jokes as always. No let's enjoy, and PLAY BALL! SMASH THE BELL!

Episode 74: Spring Training Is Here!

Episode 74: Spring Training Is Here!

We're back again as Spring Training is in full swing. See what I did there? We start with the most recent contract extensions with Alvarado and Dominguez, two key pieces in this bullpen that will be around for the next few years. Then talk about Dombrowski's interview about Harper, the 5th starter spot, Bullpen, and bench pieces. Some other talk about some silly reasonable goals for teams and Mookie Betts admitting that the Red Sox stole signs with live video. We wrap up by talking about the first Phillies ballgame everyone was able to watch this year against the Yanks and it was a good all around game for the boys. The wrap up includes the new rules, mostly the pitch *timer* not clock...TIMER for some reason, and how much we hate it. We end on a Pod Poll and some Dad Jokes as always. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 73: Bedlam At The Bank

Episode 73: Bedlam At The Bank

It was and still is Bedlam At The Bank! We spend a majority of our first pod back in a while talking about all the official releases we have seen so far. We also have a very weird pod poll that came to Brandon through a golf outing and of course some dad jokes. The Phillies have been busy this offseason and in a good way. Trea Turner. Ever heard of him?! Matt Strahm & Taijuan Walker, hmmm? Painter, Abel, Griff, Rojas all big prospects trying out for the team in Spring Training. It's all gravy. They started preparing early for their World Series run for this coming season. And let us be the first to say...THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ARE WINNING THE 2023 WORLD SERIES!!!

Episode 72: Still Dancing On Our Own

Episode 72: Still Dancing On Our Own

Yes, we are still dancing on our own despite the World Series loss. It was a wild ride and we couldn't be more proud of the boys. Against all odds, they persevered and were able to beat the Ashtrays twice in the Series which is way more than what we deserve as fans. Although we think they could have gotten more. Now that we have been sulking for over a week, we now shift our attention to the offseason. And yes, we would love to just run it back, but there are things called contracts and guys becoming free agents. So, we take a quick dive into what Dave Dombrowski and the Phillies need to plan for, add, and offload for next season to make sure this team is more than equipped to make it back to the World Series in 2023. Said? Said. And PLAY BALL!!!

Episode 71: Dancing On Our Own To The World Series/We Ain't Losin'

The Phillies. Did it. 11 years since their last playoff appearance and they didn't skip a beat. YOUR PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES! We talk about this wild ride we've all been on throughout this last NLCS and how proud and excited we are for the boys. It was a hard fought series. They persevered and kept coming back through everything that was thrown at them. They deserve this. So much heart. They are the hottest team in baseball right now. There's no denying it. WE AIN'T LOSIN'. SAID?! SAID. PLAY BALL!

Episode 70: NLCS Clincher. SAID.

Episode 70: NLCS Clincher. SAID.

We are STOKED Steve! STOKED! The Phillies clinch the NLCS by taking down the reigning World Champion Braves and the Philly vibes have still not come back from the movie that was this weekend in the city. The boys are buzzing. The city is buzzing. And we are here for it. We live for moments like these when all the sports in an entire city converge and support each other through it all. The Phillies are the hottest team in the yoffs right now and although it is going to be a fun NLCS with all the stories that come along with it, even the Padres will have a tough time containing the vibes. Especially for the 2, potentially 3 games back-to-back-to-back in Philly. Let's go Phillies! 8 MORE WINS TOPPER! KEEP DANCING ON YOUR OWN AND PLAY BALL!

Episode 69 NLDS Game 1, Giggidy, That Is All

Episode 69 NLDS Game 1, Giggidy, That Is All

Giggidy, that is all. We're excited. You're excited. You're Philadelphia Phillies have taken GAME 1 of this NDLS 2022 from the Braves. Absolutely incredible. Not the best stuff from the pitching staff in certain parts, but they got it done. And Nicky C, Big Dick Nick, Playoff Llanos, Playoff Nick, whatever you want to call him, is here for the playoffs. And he's excited. Ranger got himself out of a few jams and the bullpen kept them in the game for the most part. We're eating W's tonight and we're ready for Wheeler's Gem tomorrow afternoon as he face up against Kyle Wright. And we will also do our best to be back tomorrow night with our reactions. As always...PLAY BALL!!!

Episode 68: Philly Robtober

THE PHILLIES HAVE CLINCHED A PLAYOFF BIRTH FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS!!! Yes, we are yelling. Deal with it. We are back and so are the Phillies. It's been a long season of ups and downs. Good times and bad times. But the team is better for it. We are so happy for these guys that we came out of retirement from our busy lives to bring you this first episode in quite some time. And yes, we apologize for our hiatus. But we realized we had to do something for the old guys and the daycare achieving what they have all been striving for all year. It's time Phillies nation. Let's ride with Philly Rob. It's Red Robtober. Oh, and PLAY BALL!!!

Episode 67: The Pod Goes To Opening Day

Episode 67: The Pod Goes To Opening Day

We're a little late to the plate with the title of this one, but we promise you this episode is filled with more than just opening day festivities. Although we do talk about our opening day adventure, which we hope to be tradition moving forward, we have a lot more to talk about. Such as how badly the Phillies have sucked since the opening series against the A's. The Mets, Marlins, Rockies, you name it...the Phillies have not gotten off to the start every Phillies fan has hoped as they are now sitting dead last in the NL East at 5-8. Not good. We answer the important questions like is Joe Girardi on the Hot Seat? What is the problem? Pitching? Bullpen? Offense? What? We do our best to try and make sense of the season so far. We also try to move on from the 5-8 start and hit some positive notes despite Bohm having a love/hate relationship with this place and getting on base in nearly every at bat, Camargo lighting it up, and SCHWARBS hitting well outside of the leadoff spot. We talk a little minor leagues as Alex explains who the hell is Griff McGarry is and why he is the real deal. We have a new segment called "Stay Seated" and a new "Pod Poll" along with some Dad Jokes as always. Do we hate this place? Yeah. You know what? We do. Play Ball.

Episode 66: Season Predictions/Opening Day 2022

Episode 66: Season Predictions/Opening Day 2022

Tonight, we put our baseballs minds to work and predict the award winners and division winners throughout the league for the 2022 season. We also discuss Phillies specific awards like team MVP, breakout player, HR leader and so on. You get the picture. There were high hopes for Micky Moniak to start the season in Center Field, but already one of our hopes and dreams quickly go down the drain. But that's ok, we get into the still stacked lineup of your Phillies, the star-studded starting rotation with potential Cy Young candidates, new additions to the Opening Day roster and more. The 2nd Annual World Pod Classic fantasy baseball league, hosted by Sunday League The Podcast, is under way and what a ride we are about to embark on. We came in 2nd place last year, but we're coming for that chip this year. But no one cares about your fantasy team...we digress. Brandon also predicts World Series finalists and Champs and all Alex can do is smile and wave. We're such biased homers. Sometimes. Maybe. Tune in and find out. Finally, we have a new Pod Poll and some spontaneous Dad Jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 65: Over The Tax

Episode 65: Over The Tax

Tonight, we get together to talk about the recent and AMAZING signings John Middleton, Dave Dombrowski, and the Phillies have made. Starting with middle reliever Brad Hand, working down to the FIRST post-lockout signing of 'Schwarbs', all the way to, drumrolllllllll, Nick as there's a drive to deep left field and that's gonna be a home run Castellanos. And let us be the first to say that the Murderer's Row talk is back! We have lineup talk as well along with some competitions heating up at certain positions. We also have a new Pod Poll and Dad Joke so keep an ear out for those. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 64: Locked In, Full Season Ahead

Episode 64: Locked In, Full Season Ahead

We're locked in now. The lockout is over and there is a new CBA in town. And we're really just happy that baseball is back AND with a full season as well. Today, we talk about the new CBA contract and what it entails. Including, new minimum salaries, CBT thresholds, playoff format, drafts, and rules in general. We also discuss Dombrowski and Girardi's pressers where they seem very confident in the team moving forward and are not worried about anything. Sounds promising. And as usual, we have some Dad Jokes along with a new Pod Poll. This one gets weird...kinda. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 63: Still In Lockout

Episode 63: Still In Lockout

It's been a while, but we're finally back to talk about the most exhilarating thing in the sports world...the MLB lockout. Where everything is made up, and the points don't matter. That's right, we're starting fresh in 2022 after a long 3 month hiatus (we blame the lockout) and excited to talk Phillies, err baseball, err just sports in general...Oh, and we have a new segment called "Pod Polls" with juicy content from right within our own homes and the usual, Dad Jokes...Enjoy and PLAY BALL!

Episode 62: Minor League Review/Sixers Talk/MLB Playoffs

Episode 62: Minor League Review/Sixers Talk/MLB Playoffs

Today, we somehow have a lot to talk about starting with the fact that we missed each other. It's been a busy couple of weeks and now that the Phillies aren't on all the time we haven't been texting as much. But all that will change now that the 76ers are back with their new year of antics and dumbassery. We talk coffee, new movies, Sixers BS, and try to summon our friend Guido on the pod to talk Flyers or whatever else he wants to talk about. We finish with some actual baseball talk while we review some minor league prospects, who we should be on the lookout for, and when to expect them in the "Bigs". And we end, as always now, with some extra dad jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 61: The Dombrowski Presser

Episode 61: The Dombrowski Presser

The Dombrowski presser was today/yesterday and we talk about that. Along with some dad jokes, the Phillies need a big bat in the middle of the lineup. Also, a good many other things like Bohm working out at 3rd base and Bryce Harper's roomie being a big possibility at Shortstop. JT needs to just wear the protective gear he is provided to prevent an injury ridden season. Payroll is not an issue as ownership is willing to go over the luxury tax for the right players. And the bullpen and closer positions need to be better. Play Ball...and Enjoy!!!

Episode 60: Phillies Ten Year Drought

Episode 60: Phillies Ten Year Drought

Well, the 2021 season is over for the Phillies. But we're at a milestone 60th episode! Phillies fans deserve better as they get swept by the Braves, but at least they have to watch as the Braves celebrate their NL East clinch right in front of them. Happy National Podcast Day and thank you to all of our fans and friends who have supported us since the beginning! We will be discussing some new things in the coming episodes now that it is officially the offseason for the Phillies. The toxic farm system and hopes to the new Director of Player Development, Preston Mattingly, can fix it. Is Bryce Harper a Philly Guy? We'll find out. Tune in. Spike Eskin, formerly from WIP and of the Rights To Ricky Sanchez Podcast, asks the question and we have some kind of an answer. Our baseball team was in the finals but tragically lost. Nobody cares about your fantasy team. And we end on some dad jokes as always. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 59: Wake Us Up When September Ends

Episode 59: Wake Us Up When September Ends

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!!! Alex turns 30 as we record tonight's episode on his front porch and it was a doozy. Basically, the Phillies suck, they are pathetic, horrible, and just plain suck. We also talk about some players who are questionable in our minds for the future of the Phillies. In other words, Dombrowski needs to blow up the team this offseason and make way more significant moves to have more depth in the organization. Otherwise, we rant the whole time about how the Phillies have been playing since they beat the Brewers 12-0 and now lose to the Cubs tonight. Here's to hoping they can turn it around in the second game vs the Cubs. Enjoy...and let's play some ball!

Episode 58: Thumbs Down, Phillies Up

Episode 58: Thumbs Down, Phillies Up

Thumbs Down, Phillies Up. A lot of games have passed since the last pod. 26 games left in the season. Phillies are current 4 games over .500 at 70-66. They need to win at least 85 games to make the playoffs and all we want is the division! We roast the Mets about booing their own fans. We have a new segment as we go through some of the last few series called "Being Blunt with Brandon". We'll work on the title. It's Morphin' Time! Ranger doing it all! Guy talk, where we talk about some guys currently on the roster/staff and what their futures could possibly look like. More in a future episode. And we end on some dad jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 57: The Not-So-Perfect Phillies

Episode 57: The Not-So-Perfect Phillies

The Phillies are Not-So-Perfect in this one as we discuss the last couple series between the D-Backs and the Padres. The Phillies got swept by THE worst team in baseball and then turn it around to win 2 of 3 against the Padres who are a top team in the league with Tatis Jr. at the helm. We try to stay a little optimistic though and not talk about the D-Backs series because it was just sad to say the least. Matt Moore somehow gets another will while Aaron Nola throws what we are 150% convinced would have been a perfect game while striking out his brother in front of their proud papa. Unfortunately, the Phillies defense heard a perfect game was brewing and we all know what happened next. We also talk about the rest of the schedule even though we're not supposed to talk about the schedule, but the Phillies can optimistically win 22 of the 38 games left and win the division by beating the 3 worst teams in the league. We've all been down this road before. Hopefully it ends differently this time. And we finish with some MVP race talk along with your favorite Dad Jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 56: What Are We Doing Here, Phillies?

Episode 56: What Are We Doing Here, Phillies?

What are we doing here, Phillies? We got Cole Hamels going to the Dodgers and now he's done. Unfortunately. Phillies injury updates with Eflin hopefully making his return along with Freddy Galvis and Sam Coonrod. Hopefully we see Rhys Hoskins coming back soon. The Braves are hot. CORN! Field of Dreams game recap with the White Sox and Yankees. The umpires suck in the last couple series for the Phillies. The Phils lose 4 of 6 in the Dodgers and Reds series. On to the next one with the Arizona Diamondbacks which should be a winnable, sweepable series. Then we finish up with some dad jokes. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 55: Zach Wheeler and Alumni Weekend

Episode 55: Zach Wheeler and Alumni Weekend

Zach Wheeler and Alumni Weekend. This past week has been one for the ages for the now 1ST PLACE Phillies. They are currently boasting an 8-game win streak along with 2 sweeps against a depleted Nationals team and a Mets stacked roster (Minus Lindor). Reminds us of last year when Bryce Harper said they gotta win 9 of 10 doesn't it? The Phillies will look to keep it rolling with the real test coming with the next two series versus the Dodgers and Reds to finish up the Homestand. However, the 'Bank' is filled and the Phillies are now 2 games up on the Braves and 2.5 games ahead of the Mets after a great Alumni weekend where the Phillies organization honored Manny Trillo, the late David Montgomery and Roy 'Doc' Halladay. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Phils get a starting pitcher and closer along with the return of Freddy Galvis! Our 1-Year Anniversary passed by of July 22nd. What a ride. Phillies MLB Draft review. Possible Cole Hamels Reunion. Episode 53: Return Of The Podcast

We're back! It's been a long time coming. Apologies for the long time off, but we welcome a new member of the Is It 7:05 Yet? Podcast family as Brandon is now a proud Papa! We focus on Brandon's Dad status for a bit and then we get right back in the "swing" of things with Phillies baseball! The Phillies recently won three series in a row. Most recently with a 2-game sweep of Karen Boone and the Yankees. Three walkoffs in a row, does Hector Neris still deserve the Closer spot, All-Star Phillies, Ranger Suarez, and how the Phillies are fairing at this point in the season. We also deem it necessary to have a little Sixers talk with how well they are playing in the postseason. Trust The Process, enjoy, and PLAY BALL!

Episode 52: Phillies On The Seesaw (Bonus Content with Ralph from Sunday League: The Podcast & It's Soxy Time)

Tonight, we recap the last of the dreadful Marlins series along with the weekend Red Sox series. We also welcome on, or we get welcomed onto a Red Sox platform covered by Ralph (Bowski) from Sunday League: The Podcast and his own Red Sox Podcast, It's Soxy Time. Great conversation with Ralph discussing Phillies vs. Red Sox and just baseball in general. We're all just baseball guys being dudez. The progress of each of our teams, this coming year's playoffs and last year's (did it count?). We also talk about the new rules that may or may not be ruining baseball. And we also bring up our fantasy teams, which no one cares about. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 51: No Baby Yet

No baby yet. Any day now. We are freaking out over here! We would first like to apologize for the hiatus of the pod as it has been a full week since the last episode. We've been busy in our other lives. However, this one is full of juicy content starting with basketball talk. Brandon is still peeved about the "iconic" photo of a Celtics player who shall remain nameless. Mick Abel has his first 3 career starts in the minors in Clearwater. This is now the Vinny Velo and Nick Maton Show since they stole the show in Buffalo/Dunedin/Toronto. Bryce Harper's deceiving stat-line. The fun start to the Marlins series. We hate Nick Pivetta. And the unspoken rules of baseball were broken again. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 50: In It For The Long Haul

IT’S OUR 50TH EPISODE!!! How did we make it this far?! On today’s pod, we start with Bad Luck Brandon since it continues to be a thing. Phillies increasing capacity on May 21st, then again to FULL CAPACITY June 12th!!! We talk power rankings along with the 3 game series against the Nats. The first road win series since 2019! Hallelujah! Holy shit. Where’s the tylenol? NL East standing still tight but starting to pull apart. Episode 49: Happy Mother's Day!

Episode 49: Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day Everyone! We are expecting on May 19th at 7:05...roughly. The Phillies complete the elusive 4-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers as Zach Wheeler deals in a Complete Game Shutout. Just have to say, Wheeler has been a stud for the Phillies. Phillies have an offensive explosion to start off the Braves series in Atlanta. However, they implode in game two with bullpen pitching blowing leads and saves. And the man on second rule still being one of the dumbest new rules from last season. The return of Bad Luck Brandon is a thing as he tunes in to game 3 of the Braves series. Sorry Phillies fans. Analytics plague the Phillies whenever they play the Braves and hopefully they can turn it around as they head to Washington to play the Nats. Tight NL East standings. Baseball Gods do not want the Mets to play. T-Shirts possibly coming soon. Frederick!!! Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 48: Bad Luck Brandon

Episode 48: Bad Luck Brandon

Today, we have Bad Luck Brandon making an appearance as he has not watched the last 3 games and guess what...the Phillies are now on a 3 game winning streak! We get into game 3 of the Brewers series as our boiz play live while we record (Brandon doesn't watch). Brandon has some issues to get off his chest. And Alex talks minor leaguers as the minor league seasons began yesterday (May the 4th be with you). We have a listener email with some great topics to discuss and then we get into the first two games of the Brewers series that the Phillies win by only one run each. Enjoy...AND PLAY BALL!

Episode 47: I Hate Major League Baseball

Episode 47: I Hate Major League Baseball

We hate Major League Baseball. The Phillies have been above .500, below .500, and at .500 several times this season. And it's only May! Alex and Brandon take turns ranting about the Phillies not knowing what a winning streak is, the umpires being terrible, and all the dumb rule changes from last year. Not to mention all the other rules that have changed over the years for player safety. Well MLB, where was the player safety rule for taking a pitcher out of the game after two wild pitches? One 96.9 MPH fastball to the face and a 95 MPH fastball to the back. On two pitches. That's just a little taste of what is in this episode. We also discuss the Cardinals 4 game series and the 2 games played against the Mets briefly. And we also watch the end of game 3 against the Mets live. Boy, what a finish. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 46: The Phillies Weren't So High In Colorado

Episode 46: The Phillies Weren't So High In Colorado

The Phillies weren’t so high in Colorado this weekend as they only take one of the three game series. Before we get into the bad, shoutout to Yuengling for shouting us out for the Phillies 16oz. Beers we got for the season. Gotta Lager Up somehow and be prepared for the long season. Buy Yuengling Lager…#lagerup. The road woes continue and the Phillies are dead. Rhys, Harper, JT and Nick Maton are the only Phillies doing anything right now. So if you want your team to get hot, just play the Phillies. We go over the next series against the Cards and Mets. Enjoy...And PLAY BALL!!!

Episode 45: Phillies Find Another Way To Piss Us Off

Episode 45: Phillies Find Another Way To Piss Us Off

Bryce is fired up! He clearly wants to win as we get down into the last three games in tonight’s pod. Gabe Kapler comes back to Philly as Skipper...of the San Francisco Giants. And he can stay there with all his coconut oil. Today we have games one and two of this series with the Giants. They are not pretty. No offense in game one. No pitching in game two. So we discuss those along with some great and not so great milestones like Nick Maton’s first major league hit and the hitless streak in center field. An avalanche of Home Runs in game two on both sides. And we have game three with another youngin milestone for MICKEY, the return of Jet Packs and Spencer Howard, and Andrew Knapp subtly calls out the fans for doubting them in what we would call a roller coaster of emotions. We have some final notes on this series and end on the road trip starting Friday in Denver with the Rockies and then in St. Louis with the Cardinals again. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!!!

Episode 44: The Aaron Nola & Bryce Harper Show

Episode 44: The Aaron Nola & Bryce Harper Show

Tonight, we get way more into the Metropolitan/Sewer Rat series than either of us care to talk about. Technically, the Phillies DO NOT get swept as the fourth game in this series gets rained out. The Baseball Gods are not on the Mets’ side with three rainouts already AND a snowout? JOJO and Spencer Howard also return for the double header games so at least we have that going for us! We talk about the mystery of Adam Haseley’s disappearance and if/when he will return to the team. We also talk about the Cardinals series and how much fun it was to see these guys win again. The Phillies take advantage of some defensive miscues and Aaron Nola earns his first ever 9 inning complete game! We talk about the center field issue again as well as the recently popular “the best ability is availability” debate in regards to Roman Quinn. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 43: Phillies Avoid The Series Sweep

Episode 43: Phillies Avoid The Series Sweep

On tonight’s episode, we start by watching the end of game 3 against the Braves which ends wildly controversial. The Phillies finally have one go their way and get lucky on a call at the plate. One of our favorite players, JoJo Romero, gets called back up to the big leagues as Archie Bradley is unfortunately put on the 10-Day IL. We hope he can earn his keep in the big leagues. We get into the 3 game series in Atlanta which didn’t completely go the Phillies’ way, but they get the win Sunday night to avoid the sweep. The Phillies have a 4 game series against the Mets at Citi Field starting Monday night that will end with a great matchup of Eflin v. deGrom. We finish up with our Phillie of the series and talk a little about the recent suspensions the league has issued along with the Mets recent walkoff victory thanks to a BS hit by pitch in the strikezone. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 42: Undefeated No More (161-1)

Episode 42: Undefeated No More (161-1)

The Phillies are now 5-1. Our dreams are now crushed but hey, now they can go 161-1. Today, we discuss the 3 game series versus the Sewer Rats *cough* Mets. Lots of ups and downs in this series, but mostly ups with the Phils taking 2 of 3. The new lefty Matt Moore pitches well for a few innings after not being in the league for a couple seasons. deGrom deals. He is not fair. He is a cheat code. But good AF. AND, the Mets are gonna Met. The return of Mr. Hot Garbage in game 2. The train came off the tracks in the bullpen and the offense fought back late in the game but disappointed. And in game 3, the bats came alive. Multiple Phillies go yard and send the Mets packing. Next series away against ATL and NYM again so we’ll see how that goes and we’ll be back to talk about the Braves on Sunday. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 41: Opening Series Sweep

Episode 41: Opening Series Sweep

Today, we have the Phillies opening the 2021 season strong with a sweep of the Atlanta Braves. The TRIO that is Aaron Nola, Zach Wheeler, and Zach Eflin. These three guys and the revamped bullpen hold the reigning NL East Champs to 11 total hits and 3 ER. Amazing. We talk about the series against the Braves. Phillies pitching has definitely improved along with fielding overall. Webgems! It’s Knapp Time. John Kruk, and commentators in general are jinxes. And the umpires are already pissing us off. The Phillies have the Mets at home Monday thru Wednesday. Then a road trip against the Braves and Mets again, so that’s fun. And to wrap things up, we give our Phillies of Opening Week. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 40: Opening Day In Philly, 2021

Episode 40: Opening Day In Philly, 2021

Today, we have the 26 man roster that is set for the season. We expand on the Phillies making this roster and the starters. Although our picks for CF are not who we thought they were. We talk about Scott Kingery, Odubel Herrera, and JoJo Romero unfortunately getting sent down to Triple A and the Auxiliary Camp (Which we are most upset with the JoJo decision). We discuss our Opening Day Lineups and between Cutch leading off, the 8th and pitcher spot, we are all over the place when comparing each other’s lineups. We each have 3 BOLD predictions that turn into 6, EACH. And we wrap things up with team MVP, Breakout Player, and NL East predictions for 2021. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 39: We're Ready For Phillies Baseball

Episode 39: We're Ready For Phillies Baseball

On today’s pod, we have more games! The Phillies don’t play them particularly well but hey, it’s Spring Training. They go 2-4 since our last episode losing tragically to the Blue Jays 14-5 on Tuesday the 16th. Other than that, they’ve had some pretty normal outings with stellar pitching performances from starters and, dare we say it, the bullpen. During the pod, the Phillies beat a hefty Yankees squad 4-0 while Aaron Nola throws a gem backed up by the bullpen. We also have Scott Kingery in a precarious situation with possibly starting the season down in Lehigh Valley Triple A. Odubel Herrera seems to be the favorite for the Center Field job. And we cheez it up for Daryl Morey and his appearance on the Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast to see if he 1) will listen and 2) will pay our shoutout forward to have Sam Fuld and Dave Dombrowski just listen to our pod. More to talk about on the next episode with starting lineups and bold predictions so stay tuned. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 38: Phillies Spring Forward In Clearwooder

Episode 38: Phillies Spring Forward In Clearwooder

We’ve got six more games to talk about in today’s episode with the Phillies going 4-2 over that stretch. They still can’t win against the Blue Jays for some reason but hey, it’s Spring Training. Where the stats are all made up and good things mean everything while bad things mean absolutely nothing. We get into a few of the competitions again with the 4 and 5 spot narrowing down, the bullpen shaping up, and who has the upper hand in Center Field. Bryce is the man and Didi straight up loves hitting Grand Slams. The Phillies will have a few big decisions with their 40-man roster. And will JT Realmuto be healthy enough for opening day? We will see as we get into this one. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 37: Spring Training Cures The Winter Blues

Episode 37: Spring Training Cures The Winter Blues

We have games! A full week of them! Phillies go 3-3-1 over the week but remember, it’s all about the individual player performances in Spring Training. JT is out of his cast and getting anxious for the season opener against the Braves. The ongoing CF competition with Odubel Herrera coming out of the gate hot. The 4-5 spot in the starting rotation is still up for grabs. And the bullpen competition is heating up as well with the plethora of potential the Phillies have this year and we are not used to it. Mickey Moniak on the other hand is playing so fine, he’s playing so fine he’s blowing our minds. We both finally got our new shipment of Built Bars with the limited release of cookie dough chunk. Use code 705YET on your next order! We get into these 7 games, focusing on the Phillies 15-0 blowout against the Yankees which is impressive regardless of whether it is Spring Training or not. Ben Simmons shoots AND makes a 3-pointer for the Sixers. Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 36: Phinally, 2021 Phillies Baseball!

Episode 36: Phinally, 2021 Phillies Baseball!

Tonight, we get way off topic a few times. BUT, we start off with Bryce being able to be Bryce in Philly. Our hearts are warmed by one of our all-time favorite guys in baseball, Charlie Manuel, being able to watch BP again. Bryce Harper thinks the NL East is the best division in baseball and who could disagree? We also touch on whether we think the Mets will actually be good this year and we throw the Nats into the conversation as well. Trevor Bauer gives praises to Phillies' new pitching coach Caleb Cotham as a 'New Age Interpreter'. We'll see if he's right as the season goes on. And we're hoping Spencer Howard has a huge bounce back year but at the very least could be used as a bullpen piece. The Phillies also played their FIRST Spring Training game today against the Detroit Tigers at their stadium in Lakeland, FL and let's just say it was a doozy. Ivan Nova started off slow, but Adam Haseley made a strong case for CF starter with an Oppo Boppo to start the game. Fans booing, fans getting kicked out, and oh yeah, FANS! Which Alex gets heated about when bringing up the numbers allowed in Philly. We end with our 3 favorite ballpark sounds and the Phillies have their first ST home game tomorrow at 1:05PM! Enjoy...and PLAY BALL!

Episode 35: Don't Go Breakin' My Thumb

Episode 35: Don't Go Breakin' My Thumb

Tonight, we get right into it with the start of Spring Training. Including the first day of FULL workouts for the Phillies. Unfortunately, JT has fractured his thumb and will be out for up to a month. However, he is still practicing up to his ability which is a good sign. The Phillies are looking to pace themselves with Harper due to his back issues on the tail end of last season, but Bryce is young at heart so we got that going for us. We also touch on how severely underrated the Phillies are based on the BS power and PECOTA rankings. Odubel Herrera has his invite back to Spring Training but does he deserve a second chance? A lot of his teammates including Aaron Nola think so. JT and Archie Bradley, the two Oklahoma boys have some banter going for the year already which is exactly the content every Phillies fan needs. Rhys Hoskins is cleared to play, should be good for opening day, and he says Alex Bohm is looking THICCC. That boy is ready to play. Scotty Jetpax is on his way back in a great way losing 10 pounds and hopefully looking at a HUGE comeback year. We finish with a dumb Buster Olney tweet with ATL, NYM, and WAS starting rotation. But there's a problem...he forgot a Phillies rotation with 3 starters who were lights out last year being backed by solid moves adding Chase Anderson and Matt Moore and many more moves to improve the bullpen. We have also joined a fantasy baseball league with a bunch of other baseball podcasts which is going to be a ton of fun. Shoutout Sunday League Podcast and the World Pod Classic fantasy league. Enjoy. And PLAY BALL!

We also touch on who is left in the trade and free agent market as well as the top 5 payrolls in the MLB right now with the Phillies being one of them. The Fightin Phils are still going strong with their Winter Tour and Andrew Knapp is next up on the slate on Thursday night at 8PM. Episode 33: Taking This Podcast To The MOOOOON!!!

Episode 33: Taking This Podcast To The MOOOOON!!!

Today, we’re still in awe of the Phillies resigning JT Realmuto. AND, that wonderful guy Didi Gregorius is back as well. We got the whole offensive gang back together again with some new and improved faces in the bullpen and starting rotation. We also talk about a few other moves the Phillies could make before Spring Training begins in less than 2 weeks. Speaking of Spring Training...The Cactus League is on the brink of a delay for some crazy reason while other, INDOOR sports are being played WITH fans in Arizona. Meanwhile, the Phillies and other teams in the Grapefruit League are preparing for fans. The MLBPA declines a shortened 152-game season. And finally, we give a shoutout to Brandon's mom informing us about the Reading Fightin Phils virtual Winter Tour with the Phillies that starts tomorrow February 4th on Facebook Live, Twitter, Twitch and Youtube! Episode 32.5: We Got Him

Episode 32.5: We Got Him

We Got Him! At long last! JT Realmuto is officially a Philadelphia Phillie for 5 Years as he signs for $115.5mil over those five years, breaking Joe Mauer's AAV of $23mil. Just a short one tonight as we talk through what just happened today with the JT signing. Although, we are too excited to formulate words and sentences. Alex is a bit more professional in his reaction to the news while Brandon brings out the air horn in annoying fashion. Apologies. But we're excited! Welcome back JT! Congrats! We never doubted it for a minute. Enjoy...and Play Ball!

Episode 32: WOOOOOOOOO

Episode 32: WOOOOOOOOO

The Phillies are fired up after signing Archie Bradley and you know what, we are too! WOOOOOOOOO!!! But is that enough to improve on last season? They also make a hefty offer to JT Realmuto and we are more optimistic for 2021. Although, Andrew Knapp says he can be an everyday catcher. We also discuss some other moves the Phillies have been making which include avoiding arbitration with Rhys Hoskins, Vinny V and Jose Alvarado, picking up international prospects, and a trade with Boston. Things do in fact seem to be shaping up for the Phillies and the bullpen, but we go back and forth on what is still needed all over the field and which players are still available. 25 days until pitchers and catchers report! The NL East Is Shook

The NL East Is Shook

The NL East Is Shook people. Today, we talk about the New York City Sewer Rats and how much we hate them. BUT, they are making moves and taking names off the free agent market, and making the Phillies look bad. We also dive into Dave Dombrowski’s top 3 needs starting with the bullpen, needing a catcher, and looking into the shortstop position a little bit. We also talk about the quiet acquisitions the Phillies have made in regards to trades and minor league deals. Then, we finish up with some other Philly sports news including the Eagles firing the wrong guy, the Sixers not getting a Harden trade done, and Dave the snake Silver hating the process. With that...Play Ball, and enjoy!
