Episode 2: SCIENTISM AND INTELLECTUALISM
In episode two, we tackle the complex topics of scientism and intellectualism. We begin by referencing scripture text found in Ecclesiastes and then move on to define these terms.
Scientism is the belief that the scientific method is the only way to gain knowledge and the only way to understand the world. Intellectualism, on the other hand, is the belief that intellect and reason should be the guiding principles in life, and that they should take precedence over emotions and impulses.
Through engaging conversations, we explore how these "isms" contribute to societal and religious divisions. We discuss how scientism can lead to a disregard for faith and spirituality, and how intellectualism can lead to a lack of empathy and understanding towards those who may have different experiences or beliefs.
As we seek to answer questions like "Why are people so divided today? Why so much anger and disdain?" we delve deeper into the effects of scientism and intellectualism on our worldview and relationships. We examine how these "isms" can contribute to a lack of humility and an inability to see things from another's perspective.
Join us for this enlightening discussion and gain a better understanding of the impact of these "isms" in our world today. We invite you to listen to the entire series where we explore topics like materialism, capitalism, hedonism, and more, as we seek to bridge the divides created by these "isms."
