Issues & Interviews w/ Kieran Michael Lalor

Lalor speaks with former Congressman John Faso who is leading Republican efforts against gerrymandering in the courts.  Faso argues that the newly drawn district lines violate a new provision of the New York State Constitution.  In 2014 the people of New York voted to amend the state constitution to include an explicit ban on partisan gerrymandering. Article III, Section 4, reads as follows: “Districts shall not be drawn to discourage competition or for the purpose of favoring or disfavoring incumbents or other particular candidates or political parties.”

"The New York Department of Health recently established guidelines for medical providers to give automatic priority to “non-whites” and individuals with 'Hispanic/Latino ethnicity” in distributing life-saving COVID-19 treatments. See Memorandum of December 27, 2021 (attached as Exhibit 1). Under these guidelines, nonHispanic white individuals who test positive for COVID-19 are ineligible for oral antiviral treatments unless they also demonstrate “a medical condition or other factors that increase their risk for severe illness.'

Lalor addresses a video put out by the Molinaro Administration that is encouraging children to get vaccinated.  Lalor was critical because it ignores much of what we have learned in recent months about the vaccine and because it downplays potential side effects.  Lalor also states that a Republican led county pushing the vaccine increases the likelihood that Gov. Hochul will issue a statewide vaccine mandate for children.  Lalor believes that perceived lack of local opposition to a vaccine mandate for kids leads Hochul to believe she can ram through the mandate without much opposition.
