Mastering a language takes a lot of time and effort, especially for someone who isn't born in an English speaking country. This is true for Ms. Inna Figotina, an ESL/FSL teacher who taught in Taipei for a few years.
In this episode, we talk about her starting point as a citizen of Russia, and how migrating to Canada made her fall in love with languages. We also talked about her experience teaching in Taipei, and the uniqueness of their curriculum. We also shared a few perspectives in the difficulty of helping kids and adults. Finally, we discussed about her book, which summarizes how she became a master of three languages, namely English, Russian, and French.

In this episode, I sit down with Crishella Katayama, an Assistant Language Teacher for half a decade. We talked about how unique Japan's school system is and how we can help students learn the subject in a this one-of-a-kind curriculum. We also shared some reasons why Filipinos are good in English, some games what will make your classes more appealing to students, and incorporating anime culture in your topics.

Work from home is the most ideal setting for many freelancers, businesspersons and employees nowadays. This is also the case of Keanu Sarmiento, a former ESL teacher helping clients in China and Japan. In this episode, we talked about how we ended up being in the ESL industry serving clients at home. We also tackled about dealing with kids with little to no participation, and some steps we had to go through when we were still applying for a job as ESL teachers. Lastly, we also gave out tips about starting strong if you're new to ESL.

Managing kids in a classroom can be a difficult task for many teachers. In many cases, one must establish himself/herself as a facilitator without losing composure. But what if you end up working with differently-abled children (students of determination)? How would you be able to assist these kids?
In this episode, I sit down with Joahnna Oligo, an experienced teacher-assistant. We talked about how she found herself assisting students of determination in Dubai. While talking about her journey as a teacher, she also shared some tips on how to capture student's attention, setting expectations when going to another country, and some reasons why teaching can be fulfilling.

The first episode of Istorya's new segment talks about the life and career experience of Eli Dunton, a Filipina ESL teacher who is now helping pre-school students in Vietnam. In our discussion, she shared about teaching Vietnamese kids for the first time and her realizations after the encounter. We also talked about overcoming language barriers, our most effective teaching techniques, and the things people should anticipate if they ever have plans to teach in another country.
