Pardon us if we're a little wired. We've been listening to Sada Baby "Slide" on continuous loop. Damn it slaps. Today we're joined by our friends from Obvious Nonsense Alejandra and Malikai Unique. They give us the rundown on the Democratic Debate and what we should really be looking out for. Also, is a town hall meeting a date? After a quick break, the team cracks open some comics and looks to pop culture to find a suitable candidate to dispatch cuatro-cinco in November and bring peace and prosperity to our land. Then we make friends with a very unlikely person. At the end, an important announcement is made. Tell me if you can hear it.
Kayin P and Handsome Bane start this one talking to Kayin's brother Joe about his kid and a possible visit in the near future. Then the fellas get into Black romcoms and try to figure out why that's the only film marketed to black women. Surely SOMEONE would like a black version of Salt or Furie or Wing Chun. Then the boys list some black women they would be honored to serve in knighthood under. Who would you want to knight you? Answer on our IG or something.
Handsome Bane goes it alone in this week's look at GREAT NIGGA MOMENTS IN HISTORYYYY! He basically does an hour point five about the best worst moments in Black History along with some other moments born in response to dealing with...well,,,niggas. Everything from the invention of the caller ID and call waiting to the mysterious death of Sam Cooke gets a look. It's a celebration of our people at the highest of highs and the lowest of our lows. Lord bless us all. And He did, when he invented Kool-Aid. It's all here!
After the week we've had, the ILaPoW put down the desire to run any kind of show with a plan. HB and KP got in touch with MalikaiUnique of Obvious Nonsense, turned on the mics and let it fly. They talk about mediocre white dudes. They discuss the old 7 minute rule (how long a man has to impress a woman). People from Houston. Gwyneth Paltrow don't even slap like that. And waaaaaaaay too many more things to list here. We'll probably return to regular form next week...or we might not. Who knows?
Handsome Bane was commissioned by his wife to stay home with the kids this past weekend. So being the opportunist he is, HB rangled in his guest for this week's episode, the incredible, J1! They discuss one of their favorite activities, watching TV. From the amazing 80s to the not so bad programming of the present day, the father and daughter try to cover over 30 years of entertainment by looking specifically at reboots. Some voices get done. Some fun is had. Enjoy our most wholesome episode ever!
RIP Kobe and Gianna Bryant,
This one was never on the rails. The fellas got mic'd up, hit record and just went for it. Eventually we land on our intended interview with Kayin and music partner Austin Phil. We get a lot more background on KP. The gentlemen share their top influences both in music and real life. Then we just jump around a bit longer. You'll see. It's a lot of fun. It's going to make for some amazing toaster leavins'
The team and some of their bestest friends get together to celebrate and commemorate the year 2019 Anno Domini. At 5:50, HB and KP select the recipient of the Golden Du-Rag. Rogue, Kat and -Mike- pick the meme of the year, 19:25. G Valentino Ball, Kayin and Obvious Nonsense's Malikai Unique Pour out the Most Liquor for someone we lost, 44:33. Kat hosts Franny (In True Franny Fashion) and Alejandra of Obvious Nonsense to crown the Finesse Player of the Year, 1:15:31. And they bring it on home with Year of the Year (1:37:10) with Handsome Bane, Kat Chinetti and Kayin Patton. Enjoy over 2 hours of arguments, bad takes and hilarity.
The gang gathers around a laptop to conference with K Rock and friend of the show, Marcus ShowinMadLove Robinson. They take as close a look at the HBO show "Watchmen" as well as the film and the graphic novel of the same name. From there they get a little into how racism and race relations look in general in their own lives. Then they play a game called Black Famous with some serious ramifications.
HB comes to you from the basement at the JOB(B). He gets into a story of a friendship that has gone through some ups and downs. Recently there have been some developments that made Bane think about the friendship as a whole. A brush with death will bring a lot of things into perspective,
Also, an announcement is made about the potential future of the ShredHead Podcast that played it's pilot in the last ILaPoW episode.
Sorry about the long sabbatical, but our technology or lack thereof forced us to take a seat. We bounce around a lot in this one, so take your Dramamine. HB interviews Emmanuel "Manny" Ortiz, Creator and producer of The England based media group, Nerd Caliber. Then some people come through to play Dungeons and Dragons. Then a bunch of kids come in and render the audio basically useless. But you get the idea. This almost feels like a Toaster Leavins ep, but everything is related. So we hope you enjoy it. We're playing catch-up, so listen to this one asapington. The next episode will be here before you know it.
This episode is a continuation of the conversation with Franny (@In. True. Franny.Fashion ) on HER show of the same name. The guests are now the hosts as Franny and newcomer, Casino (@Casino_Des) are welcomed by Kayin, Kit Kat and Abel Magwitch himself, Handsome Bane. They continue their round of questioning with such topics as crazy girlfriends, why women give men the stupid Yogi Bear voice and we end the Great Fix My Plate Debate. No feelings were hurt during the recording of this pod. Also, Kayin if you want to reach out to any of us because we're all damaged little psychos, you will be able to find our social media at the end of the pod.
Love, trust and belief
Kayin, Lam and Handsome Bane meet up again at Level Ground to discuss the world's worst people. No one in particular, just people you probably run into on a daily. It's ILaPoW at it's silliest with just a liiiiiittle bit of planning. It's ruthlessly absurd. So have fun with it.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, Dweebs! That's right, it's Halloween instead of tricking you, Handsome Bane, Kit Kat and Kayin decided to treat you to a trip to the theater. FROM OUR BUTTS! GOTCHA! We DID trick you! Butt seriously, jerks. We hope you enjoy these readings from classic spooky stuff most of you grew up on. A lot work and love went into this one, so show your love and spread the word to your friends. If you hate, share it with your enemy. Hell, a listen is a listen as far as we're concerned.
Happy Hyphen Halloween!
HB, Kayin Patton and the Maestro Mike Lam meet up at LG shoot the ish about 80s villains. They get sidetracked several times and that's when the real fun begins. Among the baddies discussed are Gargamel's issues with self-accountability, Cobra Commander's incompetence, Skeletor's inner conflict and a new beginning for the Shredder. How do you feel about women calling you daddy? We hate it. Listen to our anecdote that will give you another reason why you should too.
Handsome Bane comes from the basement of his 9-5 to bring you the first solo dolo podcast in a long time by ILaPoW standards. He starts out talking about how much he trusts his younger brother. Midway through the pod he comes to a startling revelation. Then he fantasy books Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar for WrestleMania. Then he ends the pod with a brand new decree and goals for the remainder of the year and shout-outs. Important dates:
Oct 26th-HPG Boston Chapter Axe Throwing Party
Nov 2nd ILaPoW Retro Gaming Night (Level Ground Benefit)
April 4, 2020 Comics in Color Comics Festival
HB and the gang welcome long time hero and first time guest, Tre the Smooth Operatin' Gangsta. Tre is an independent wrestling legend and inductee of the New England Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Class of 2019. He sits with the Bane Man to talk about his time training with the late great Killer Kowalski, how rap got him booked on shows, his love for Batman and the time his mom was swept up in the magic of Professional Wrestling even though she said it was fa... nevermind. We can't bring ourselves to use the F word. If anybody asks you, BTW stands for Black Talent'd Wrestlerz. Spread some peanut butter on a piece of bread and turn this one up in your headphones.
HB and J Lowe give some history on their 30+ year friendship, playing Street Fighter 2 in class and the unstoppable entity known as the Ill Squad. Then it's on to discuss another entity, the Wu-Tang Clan. Besides the music they're known for, Bane and J dive into the Hulu series, "Wu-Tang an American Saga" and have a whole lot of questions, already having a lot of knowledge from the events that happen AFTER those that take place in the show. After the show review, your hosts then take on the arduous task of ranking every member of the Wu because of course they do.
In this episode of #itslikeapodcastorwhatever Handsome Bane and the returning Gorilla Monk venture to the Col. James Hartshorne House (est 1681) where we weren't sure if the Colonel was helpful on the underground railroad, but we DID meet a friend of a friend. Weare joined by friend of the show @melysette and newcomer @bossbeautybynikki. We hang out at the @palegingerpub launch party and talk about chasing dreams into reality, proving people wrong as a fringe benefit of success and tattoos on breasts, but not the ones you might be thinking about.
Season 4 is in the books and this here is the victory lap. It's some of the best stuff we took out for sake of time or...whatever, to bring you this delicious sampler platter of leftovers! Doesn't that sound appetizing? It's about an hour of barely before heard audio from the big names you love to love:
Kit Kat Chinetti
AND SO MANY MORE!
This isn't even the BOTTOM of the audio barrel, but we'll scrape it anyway. What do YOU think, World Wrestling Entertainment Chairman and CEO, Vincent Kennedy McMahon?
IT'S SUCH GOOD SHIT!
The road was long and winding. But we've arrived at 100. Your reward for rocking with us this long? ASK ILAPOW 2!!
Your hosts: Kat Chinetti, Handsome Bane and the returning Everyday Rogue!
It's a full house in Level Ground and they're all vocal in this one.
The gang answers all of your random questions. They introduce a new bit. And finally, they all share their goals for the future of ILaPoW.
It's episode 99 and we're afraid the internet with buckle under the sheer weight of the star power we are serving you. First, Our very own Kit Kat Chinetti brings you the news from both Boston Fan Expo AND Dragon Con in Atlanta, GA. Then we take you back to Level Ground MMA gym where Everyday Rogue brings you Nancy, Obvious Nonsense and hey...is that...Franny!? Spoilers: it is. The ladies came out in full force to crown THE Fierce Fictional Female Foursome. OUR very best selects THEE very best in fictional sisterhood that media has to offer. Does your favorite stand a chance? Or are the big mamas too powerful? Use the Anchor App to tell whether you agree or disagree in real time.
love trust belief
Coming to you from the newest digs in Roxbury, the lads take the Mission Hill Health Center studio out for its maiden voyage. We introduce for the first time an old friend and new partner Eric Rivas of the Lifted Podcast. He gives us some insight to the great things he has done, is doing and will do in the community. He shares how he came by the new space and just how all that figures into ILaPoW, Lifted, Mission Hill, Level Ground and Hyphen Podcast Group.
Then, after the boys eat their community vegetables, we talk comics and just nerd out. We make up a couple new characters. We weigh fighting options in the X-Men world. And is Hot Girl Summer's reign of terror finally over? Can we just chill? Or go apple picking. Or Trick or Treating? Is apple picking just Trick or Treating in nature? Some of these questions and more in THIS It's Like a Podcast or Whatever!
The Bane Man begins with an opening monologue copping mad pleas for the tardiness of today's pod. We definitely utilized the professor's grace period for late papers with this one. He talks about his anniversary and the many new kidless hobbies he and his wife have picked up as of late. (They're sharing her hot girl summer). He then issues a warning about the main part of the episode, THEATER FROM OUR BUTTS! It's just the new name of the table reads that we've done so many of before. Now it's just official because it has a name. Bane kills Kayin over some money. Kit Kat faces Goofy in court and wins an Oscar. It will all make sense later.
It's episode 96 on the road to 100 and it's a doozy. This time, Handsome Bane called in the Boss of the Hyphen Podcast Group, B. Hyphen himself along with his semi regular co-host and CFO of the HPG, THE Marc Rob(inson). The two of them have been tasked with the Herculean job of answering one question; Which album is better, Childish Gambino's "Because the Internet" or Kendrick Lamar's "Good Kid, Mad City". But rather than take each song from the two projects, they decide to take the top 5 MOMENTS from each and weigh them against one another. Will the music be all that matters? Or will sequencing, storyline or even marketing be the deciding factor? In the end, you will be asked to listen to each case and make a subjective and informed decision. Put your thinking caps on because it doubles as a swim cap as we take this deep dive into two albums that set the bar really high in the early 2010s. Love trust and belief!
Look who the Kat dragged in! That's right, the lady of ILaPoW returns to the kingdom along with our darling Kit Kat to talk cosplay! The ladies get into overrated as well as underrated female characters. They discuss cosplays they're tired of seeing as well as cosplays they would like to see more of. Possible group ILaPoW cosplay ideas get leaked. And you get some recommendations for characters/books you might not be familiar with. Enjoy the ILaPoW rendition of Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn and episode 95 as much as we enjoyed recording them.
The Road to 100 CONTINUES!! This week, Mike Lam is not only back in the engineering seat, he's PRODUCING this one. But that's not even the best part. We are joined this week by the four members of our sister podcast, Obvious Nonsense! They start out with some takes on the current rap scene. Then they transition into local politics and make ALL THE SENSE. It's ironically on brand. They came and hung out for an extended period of time before recording this episode. Any time you get to hang with the ladies of O.N., you're going to have a good time.
The gang braves the sweltering conditions of the Level Ground dojo to bring YOU a guide to dating while geek. This week Handsome Bane is joined by fellow blerd Kayin Patton, his semi-regular cohost, Kit Kat Chinetti and her friendbrother, Matthew to discuss their fandoms and how those fandoms affected their relationships both romantic and nonromantic. The windows ARE open and the streets ARE talking in the background, so hopefully they picked up our tips on how to coexist in relationships with nongeeks and how your similar interests and hobbies *gasp* might not be enough to maintain a relationship! It's not all doom and gloom. Kayin's silent girlfriend was right there listening to him talk about tying up Handsome Bane in his dad's basement while listening to Salt N Pepa's "Shoop". ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE for you, my sweet dweebs! Anywho, break out the pen and pad for this one. Love, Trust and Belief. Enjoy!
Who'da thunk a meme posted on the 'gram could become the subject of an entire pod without looking like we were scraping the bottom of the barrel? This week, our friend, Franny (compelling protagonist of the In True Franny Fashion Podcast) took the keys to Minivan of ILaPoW and drove it like a Lambo. We kinda leap right into the fray as Mike Lam WAS in the episode until his Skype crashed, leaving Handsome Bane to go one-on-one with Franny who is not. shy. at. ALL! This ep is all about talking. Dudes being able to talk. How to argue. Fighting fair and all that. Listen with your lover and argue our points. Take a shot every time we say something you've heard your loved one say about you. This is episode 92 on the road to 100 for anyone keeping count at home. Many more guest hosts to come, so stay tuned. LT&B!
Week one of The Takeover series of It's Like a Podcast or Whatever has begun. The Main Bane gets in the passenger seat and hands the keys to a familiar friend, KIT KAT CHINETTI as she navigates us through the world of the Muppets. Hear tidbits of info that make your favorite felt friends even more interesting than before. Kat talks about how deeply Muppet media affected and influenced her coming up. Bask in the weirdness of Jim Henson's world that raised us all. Be sure to check out all the random links and references Kat and Bane make to have THE MOST exhilarating fall down the rabbit hole.
You can find more Kat at @Kat_Chinetti on IG and Twitter.
**PANT** **PANT** **PANT** Sorry. . . . this one . . . is late!
Handsome Bane records, edits and releases this episode in the same day! Trying to keep a schedule and with like....1.5 hours to spare.
-State of the POW Summer schedule gets discussed.
-The Martin Podcast was fun, but it was missing a major component. Who is the Rev. Lonnie Love based on? Bane has his theory.
-Bane yells at the movie screen before seeing Toy Story 4 and tells you why you should see it without telling anything about it.
-Monogamy is a drama on the Urban Movie Channel. It's...how you say...? SO BAD!
-ILAPOW Takeover episode idea gets introduced. Whatchall think?
FINALLY...the Bane...HAS COME BACK!!!...... . . . . . home.
Every episode in recorded in the hallowed halls of Shoptalk Podcast Studio is a special episode and this is quite possibly THEE most important episode of ILAPOW ever- no - EVAR!!!!
Handsome Bane is joined by the living soundtrack of ILaPow, Mr. Hir-O Beats, @DameGoneWild of the Shoptalk Podcast and studio, A former blood rival turned good friend, Ski and last but impossible to be least, his flesh and blood brother, G. Green.
Bane and Ski start the pod by clearing the air on the most confusing and hilarious beef of all time...TWENTY YEARS LATER!
Then the group discusses the accuracy of the characterization of the City of Detroit in the sitcom Martin. Is the main cast representative of "true" Detroiters? Are do the third tier and extra characters do a better job showing what Detroit citizens are like? What other pieces of media show Detroit in an accurate light? What others haven't a clue? Did you know Lady Shiva from the Batman comics is from Detroit? She is! All this and much more in this loaded episode of It's Like a Podcast or Whatever.
Pround member of the Hyphen Podcast Group.
The fellas are back at Level Ground and taking you way back to the times in the retail trenches. Everything that show Super Store talks about is true, but they don't give you ALL the details. In this uncut account, Handsome Bane, B Rich and the Incomparable Travoy Pruitt recount their time with the blue and yellow brand in the middle of the hood. Guys with guns. Girls with goods. B Rich starts a riot. And so much more.
Forgive the sound. Apart from the usual quality missing, the city of Boston was experiencing its first warm day in a long time, so every single motor in the city rode by our window. Seriously, Columbia Ave. should get a credit.
Second installment of our new show(?) FirStEps, with a new ILaPoW first, the debut of Hyphen Podcast Group Labelmate, Marcus "SHOWINMADLOVE" Robinson. We talk anime in an in-depth review of the First Episode of GOBLIN SLAYER, the hyper-violent show about life as a role-playing archetypal character with a vendetta against every. single. goblin. SPOILER and TRIGGER warnings as some of this stuff is hard to watch and harder to discuss. But the guys get through it. Please enjoy this momentous occasion as THEE Marc Rob and the Bane Man meet in their first one on one pod. Surely you won't want it to be the last.
Made a new friend today. Made a new friend on our way to making a new friend today.
Handsome Bane starts of the Pod with another Preramble about meeting an OG from his own city. Old dude could not believe there was another Detroiter in Boston, so he took that as an opportunity to rattle off all of his Motown accomplishments.
Later at Level Ground, The ILaPoW crew meets a new friend and new podcaster, Franny of In True Franny Fashion. They talk about her new show, her influences, first generation social media and martial arts!
A beautiful friendship is forged and of course, a great time was had by all. Prime outtakes were taken out for later listening on the next "Toaster Leavins" episode. In the meantime, be sure to look up Franny and her new show on any and all podcasting apps and sites. It's a great listen. Love Trust and Belief
Handsome Bane is fed up with everybody and their bitching about everything in entertainment these days. Nobody knows what they want in an ending for Game of Thrones, Sonic Sickos got vindication, petitions against Pattinson are signed before WB even substantiates the rumors. So in order to stay positive, the Bane man went and grabbed some scripts, grabbed some friends and started doing some table reads. Pardon our laughter on this one, but sometimes stuff be funny. We won't say who the usual suspects are on this one. But here's a hint: The Cave of WOnders is married to Nancy, Lady Olenna tells Spencer to be a Dragon and Bart Baddams reads a piece from the Bresh Brince of Bel-Bair. Enjoy!
Whatupdoe Loved Ones! We're trying something a little different this time. We've always been your home for everything from Pro Wrestling takes to Spiritual Warfare to chat with cosplayers. Well, we're working on a new project called "FirStEps" where we take the first episode of a show and deep dive on it so you can see if it's something you would find interesting. That way you're not spending 50 bucks a month on streaming apps just to watch The Office again. On this episode, one of the last Game of Thrones holdouts, KELEN CONLEY (B. Hyphen) makes his return to ILAPOW. We go over the first episode "Winter is Coming" and Kelen's impressions of it. In the end Kelen let's us know if he would like to continue watching Thrones or if it's just not for him. FirStEps is a show we submitted to the Google Podcast project. So wish us luck that we're able to turn this into something. LTB
Looks like the gang's all here. Most of the ILaPoW family has gathered at The 2019 Anime Boston convention at the Hyne's Convention Center. We have taken over the Quiet Room on the 5th floor and turned it into the Save Point, an active safe space that helps to ensure con-goers will be able to go decompress or step away from the convention without worry that someone will try to accost them in any way. Friend of the show, Retro Ric from the Super FanCom Show stops by to play a little "Can You Top This" and talk about his show. There may be some baby sounds in the background. That's just Everyday Olive being clingy to the Returning Everyday Rogue. It's cute.
It's a packed house when Handsome Bane invites the ladies of Obvious Nonsense onto the show for the first time. They discuss their creative outlets like comics, their podcast (Enter Podcast Name Here), how to be young and informed, and the book they have been writing. Bane also tries to not look all that washed next to this group of youngsters. He does well enough to get a round of "Whatchu Know Bout This Here?" a game that was JUST named in this description.
Aaron Greenlee is the patron saint of ILaPoW, so this celebration of his life was of the utmost importance. When he passed away in 2011, he didn't just leave a void, he left a huge responsibility to all those who survived him. Today, Handsome Bane honors his brother by reviewing one of the many things Aaron is synonymous with, THE REAL Transformers the Movie. With Bane on this journey is his rival and friend, the crotch-grabbingly-great Miles Amadeus Prower. They float through the plot and spend a lot of time of the small idiosyncrasies. If you've never seen it, there will be spoilers. If you HAVE seen it, prepare to laugh with us as we take a trip down Memory Lane with the greatest 90 minute toy commercial.
So after about a week's hiatus, Everyday Rogue returns to help Handsome Bane roll out the red carpet for the boss of the Hyphen Podcast Group, none other than the President of the company Mr. BHyphen himself! The gang recaps the winner of the Most Exquisite Black Film Royal Rumbowl as well as the winner of the ILaPoW Ultimate Care Package giveaway. Thanks to all who voted and participated in the great debate.
In more pressing matters, HB defends his hot take that The Walking Dead's Negan is a better human being than Breaking Bad's Walter White. Everyday Rogue plays the impartial moderator as The Hyphen takes on the role of Heisenberg's defense attorney. Points were made and minds were (possibly) changed as we looked at things through a different scope. We understand the importance of perspective and its effect on the viewer. So who do you think wins this? After you listen to this, feel free to weigh in with your opinion?
It's been a pretty trash Black History so far. But the ILaPoW extended family looks to change all that with the (fictional) Black Film edition of the ROYAL RUMBOWL! Tough decision were made and feelings will be hurt. Hang on and pay all the attention. The plot thickens when WE CAN'T MAKE UP OUR MINDS! We need your help deciding a winner. So one random loved one will be chosen to receive a free ILaPoW stimulus package as a thank you for helping us know once for all which is the GOAT of Black Film.
Handsome Bane invites the NerdlyWeds, Eenae and Dan to the CastleVania home office to talk love, relationships, cosplay, anime and interesting ways to describe Harry Potter binge sessions. It's evident that they can't control themselves when they start gushing about one another and their second chances for love. Bane tries to stir the pot and turn them against each other in a rendition of the Newlywed game. Get your barf bags ready and enjoy our new friends and the story of dating while geek.
On the first leg of Handsome Bane's Saturday gauntlet, he stops into the public library in Grove Hall. There he meets Cagen and Barrington of Comics in Color, a group designed to introduce and foster a love of comics to all people. They speak on topics such as representation, artists and authors, as well the accessibility we all have to our own creativity. Comics in Color is celebrating its first full year and looks to expand into its own convention soon.

Oh so close but yet so far. The Truesome Twosome look into how it feels to be right, even if you don't want to be. The Royal Rumble is discussed briefly. Last week's ep should have been called "Spoiler Alert". They get into everything from vaccinations to the Book of Job. Special shout out to the good folks down at DataRecoveryGuru.com. They are our unofficial sponsor for this episode. Listen to HB's testimonial and tell them ILaPoW sent you.
We kick off Season 4 with a field trip to Troy, NH. Major shout out to Granite Roots Brewery for hosting us and crafting delicious beers. The gang catches us with some celebrity home-goings, while celebrating Betty White outrunning the Reaper for the 97th time. Gillette calls everybody's manhood into question. And Aero Mexico is giving discounts to whichever part of you is Mexican. Later, the homey Kayin Patton comes by to talk "Game of Thrones", but not in the way you might think. Oh yeah! Tell us what you think of the new intro and outro. They are of course brought to you courtesy of Hir-O Beats and Greenlee.
This wasn't supposed to be an official episode, but it turned into one because The Truesome Twosome don't know how to slack off. Among the things discussed:
Nice kid helps a girl cover up
Arisia Sci-Fi con, its good, its bad and its really ugly
NXT Takeover review
Our Royal Rumble predictions. Sweatergod we made these before the event took place.
Also, you can enjoy the Classic Royal Rumble theme while hopefully no one puts a claim on it.
Love, Trust and Belief, yall.
In the season finale, the team gets to wind down with our new best friend, the SPITFIRE KAT CHINETTI! The Main Bane and Kit Kat start with her many fandoms, which leads to her cosplay background and somehow ends up with Kat teaching us all how to yell at perverted photographers (dudes with cameras) in our underwear. As usual, much fun was had and new friendships were forged over bourbon and warm sweaters. This was actually recorded BEFORE the Powwy Awards, so that sparkling chemistry you saw during last week's show was created here.
It's Award season and it's time for the brightest and best of 2018 get the shine they're due. Categories include: -Finesse Playa of the year (Scammer of the Year) -The Golden Du-Rag -Rest in the Most Peace -Meme of the Year -ILaPoW Guest of the Year A familiar frenemy makes the trip from the late 40s to join the roundtable to discuss a year he's never even had any imagination of. Nancy drinks very hard liquor and holds it like a BOSS! And newcomer to the ILaPoW scene KitKat Chinetti finds her tribe here at the CastleVania dining room! A special shout out to our not-sponsors, Watts Club Mozambique for sending us money from all the way in the mid-nineties.
We're six days into the new year and changes are happening. But the more things change, the more things stay the same. Your Truesome Twosome reunites through the miracle of low-res Skype video. But you'll get the picture when you see just how easily they get back on the tandem bike and ride together for the foreseeable future. SO MANY TOPICS are tackled in this one including: The passing of Mean Gene Okerlund Priscilla Kelly Stuffs a tampon in someone's mouth R. Kelly is scum and so are his supporters Netflixing on mommy vacation Being a mommy AKA What a difference a year makes! Personally? I'm cool. Follow our IG and Twitter @ila_pow Like @ilapow on Facebook
The Gang is taking a break to be with family and celebrate the new year, so Cap'n Handsome (Bane) fulfills an earlier promise he made on a previous show on audio YOU'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE! The past returns as former guests from 2018 reappear through the magic of old recordings. Marvel as they all check levels and shoot the breeze that no one thought would ever see the light of day. Cackle as everyone is just trying to get right before the starter pistol of a greeting, "WHATUPDOE LOVED ONES!?" is propelled from the lips of your compelling protagonist. Who cares what the Simpsons think? Clip shows are NOT cheesy. Happy New Year!
The Main Bane has to go it alone this week as everybody has been scattered to the four corners of the earth during Christmas Eve Eve. Armed with his new ILaPoW gear and Thot ass Santa hat, he tells you the original plan for the Christmas episode and exactly how it all fell apart. After a little stumbling, our compelling protagonist takes you through his top 5 Christmas gifts of all time OFF THE TOP OF THE DOME. We then check in on BABY WATCH and the poor decision making of Olive AKA Everyday Rogue Jr. Toy Drive was a success. Now it's all over but the thanking. LOVE TRUST AND BELIEF! See You Next Year!
Special thanks to Hir-O Beats and Doss the Artist for providing the soundtrack with their Christmas Classic, "Peace King" EP that can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/doss-the-artist/sets/peace-king-doss-the-artist
Actor/Cosplayer/Model/Philanthropist/Vigilante Donnie Francis stops in to talk about all of his shops, jobs, past jobs, fitness, sponsorship and Christmas criminals. Donnie talks the quick transition from cosplay to modeling as a result of a couple costumed shoots that led to some other opportunities. He also takes us through the audition process. The couchless kind. Lots to learn and lots of laughs in this one. So if you've ever wondered what it's like to be on the ground floor as a future Hollywood heartthrob, here is a sneak peek.
This week, we welcome Sci-Fi and Cat enthusiast, Writer ME Lysette to the Castlevania Home Office. After a lengthy discussion about pretty much everything, we focus long enough for M.E. to tell us how she grew up and her intake of media. She gives some advice to people struggling with "writer's block" as well. Finally, she and Handsome Bane give you 9 Christmas films you don't normally think of around this time of year. Now you can spice up those holiday movie marathons with some REAL cinema. You're welcome.
Toy Drive is still happening. If you can't donate a toy, ILaPoW's cashapp profile is $ILaPoW. All the money goes to Boston youth whether they are affiliated with ABCDBoston, The Boston PD drive and/or you want to make a direct donation to Level Ground MMA gym https://www.levelgroundmma.org/give/
We Love you, We Trust you, We Believe in you. And we thank you.
It's a family affair when the ILaPoW team starts the holiday season off by giving thanks to all the people who don't receive enough shine this time of year. We begin with a lover's spat that gets squashed immediately. They get into the heroes and stories to support their cases. The room is just full of friends and family so this episode probably has more love per capita than any other episode of ILaPoW. And we're just getting started!
The fellas gather in the CastleVania Home Office to review the 1993 cult classic, "Fear of a Black Hat" starring a bunch of black guys you're sure you've seen before, but can't name (Rusty Cundieff, Larry B. Scott, Mark Christopher Lawrence) who play the group Niggas with Hats in this mockumentary. THERE WILL BE SPOILERS. It's all jokes about the rap game as it was, and the remnants that still somehow shockingly remain relevant today. When a rap group is made to choose between getting paid or "keeping it real", what will happen when the group chooses both?
We pretty much laugh the whole time about our favorite parts and quotes, so if you're looking for an in-depth, dissection of a film, we tried. If you've never seen Fear of a Black Hat or our review makes you want to check it out, you can find it on Amazon Prime Video. Hell, you can probably find it on YouTube.
We're also collecting for our toy drive. Comment if you want to know how to help.
Cashapp $ilapow and every dime will go towards making a child's holiday very happy.
New friend of the show, Alexia of ABCD (Action for Boston Community Development) stops by the office to talk about the organization's services, community involvement and how you can help.
Other topics discussed:
-Stan Lee's send off
-Stone Cold Becky Lynch wanted for murder
-THE THANKSGIVING DODGEBALL GAME/TOY DRIVE KICKOFF at 10am-12pm
An inspired Handsome Bane takes to the streets to talk Levar Burton reads and the wisdom he received from Ken Liu (author of "Paper Menagerie and Other Stories). He also describes his visit with Hudson Henriques and the Level Ground MMA gym in Dorchester. The Thanksgiving Dodgeball game is ON! And only one team can claim the tournament championship. Space is limited. Sign up now.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN LOVED ONES!! The team here felt that we never celebrate the holidays and while we're all gearing up to tear South Boston ALL THE WAY DOWN (collecting candy, not public property) we needed a movie to get us in the mood. Netflix graciously presented us with TALES FROM THE HOOD 2. There ARE mild spoilers, so with TFTH2 only clocking in around a total 1:29hr, it's a really quick watch. So check it out and join us for a quick dive into this urban horror anthology.

Award-Winning Cosplayer Morena Fantasie stops into the CastleVania Home Office.
We talk cosplay (of course)
Her fandoms growing up
Being a role model
Rate old school Ben Cooper costumes
Inexpensive yet creative ideas for Halloween costumes (that you and the kids will actually look good in)
Also, the lads look for a new project to take on for the end of the year as community outreach.
The blokes converse about past victories and future endeavors in the realm of obstacle courses.
Handsome Bane denounces the taste of beer in favor of hard cider. So that explains his losing battle with belches directly into the mic. Sorry in advance.
A deep dive is done on Warren G and Nate Dogg's "Regulate" and it's relation to the many toxic things we enjoyed in the 90s growing up.

ILaPoW family member, Nancy Lamerique takes over the show with her friends Nahomie and Kendra to discuss the last season of HBO's Insecure. But before they can even draw breath to speak, they are interrupted by the compelling ANTAGONIST, Ashy Bane. He brings opinions from the smokiest, rustiest pits of Twitter and the clash of the sexes begins. Each character receives an in-depth analysis of their actions and story arc. The panel wraps everything up with theories and their wishes for the characters in Season Four.
The Wondertwins continue their conversation from last week by ditching the heavy stuff and talking all about Fantasy Wrasslin'! It's Hell in a Cell weekend, but neither of them is excited about it. So our heroes reach into the Great Beyond and pair up wrestlers from the worlds of the living and the dead. It's WrestleMania Heaven, baby!
A family member makes a triumphant return to the Castlevania Home Office. Everyday Rogue takes her rightful seat as the co-host of ILaPoW to talk about all the insane ways her life has changed since becoming pregnant. She tells us about her struggles, triumphs and most importantly THE GENDER OF THE BABY! Get ready to get ready for the newest loved one, y'all.
The team welcomes a long time listener and family friend, Hudson Henriques. He comes to talk Jiu-jitsu, cartoons and cheese crackers.
The sound cut out at one point, but we were able to scrape together some choice cuts. Wouldn't be an ILaPoW without some issues. We gon' make it.
This episode is all over the place. Literally. We start in the Castlevania Office to explain some stuff. Then, through the magic of recording, we go back in time to a card game that was played in the Castlevania Dining room. Tragically, the sound cuts out and end up back in the office for the dismount. The ILaPoW inner circle does not disappoint. Plenty of one-liners and random outburst to make you look insane on your morning commute. Love, trust and belief.
Whatupdoe! Our compelling protagonist, HB comes to you from the Castlevania Home Office and with him as usual is Producer/Engineer of the show, Mike Lamerique. On this, the day of his daughter's birthday party, the Bane Man and Lam discuss pandering politicians, yet another set of Angry white guys and how Netflix is literally showing you what they think of you.
The Bane Man comes to you from the kitchen where he used to give you sage advice, mask and all. He talks about the other thing nobody is mentioning in all the James Gunn mess, explains the term "Happy Wife, Happy Life" all while fixing his laptop. The very laptop he edited and posted this podcast with. Ooh DAMN! Spoilers...
Handsome Bane invite the heir to his throne, Jadalyn to the show to do short review of Fan Expo Boston 2018. Jada has harsh words for everyone from the producers of "Coraline" to Amy Jo Johnson's Pink Ranger...again.
The girl and her old man discuss how dope the 90s were.
And the two weigh in on the new outfits the Disney Princesses wore on the snippet of the new film "Wreck-it Ralph 2.
I gotta level with you Loved Ones, this episode has amazing content with awful sound. We're still trying to get our grits together with the audio. If you can tolerate the noise, we welcome Dart Adams to the Castlevania Office and just kick it about all our fandoms and the history of Boston.
It's the season finale of the World's Greatest Nomadic Podcast. We managed to get back into CastleVania but this time we're in the home office. Sporting a sweet Bob Ross original in the background, we got a lot to cover.
HB recharges his WhatupDoe batteries and regales us all with tales of his trip to Detroit.
The team reviews The Incredibles 2...Deadpool 2 is also mentioned and the two films, while very different, have a lot in common.
Everyday Rogue has some info on her life that is going to completely change the landscape of ILaPoW going forward. (cough she's leaving the show cough) we wish her well, but she has a little business to take care of on her way out.
This week, the Bane man is still in the motherland, Detroit, MI. He and long time friend and rival, The Crotch-Grabbingly Great Miles Amadeus Prower crack open the DSM-V and diagnose your favorite felt friends. ILaPoW puts Sesame Street through the lens.
How does McDonalds rehabilitate criminals?
Adam West's Batman ran the cleanest Gotham city to date. But what kinda of cleanser did he use? Was it...ethnic??

It’s the one year anniversary of It’s Like a Podcast or Whatever and the crew is split. So what better way to celebrate than to have TWO episodes from TWO cities take place on the same day? Everyday Rogue welcomes a true Loved One to the show, Nancy Lamerique as they spin yarns and fight with technology. You will be regaled with such tales as:
Nancy’s origin story to America from Haiti
K-Rock sort of witnessed a murder while playing Harriet the Spy.
Nancy controls the fate of every child’s playtime in her youth, bums out about adulting and recounts the time she and Mike’s sibling rivalry erupted into a pier-six brawl.
A young Everyday Rogue shows off her arts and how martial they are.
For the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of ILaPoW, the gang brings you TWO episodes from TWO LOCATIONS! Talk about too much favorite! Handsome Bane goes back to his roots in the Big Oh Boy. There, he meets up with his childhood friend and Detroit Co-host, Blake Lugosi. Also making his official debut to the show he created the music for, Mr. Omari "HirO Beats" Hall. Also here for the first time and for a few impactful mins, Ms Shanti Dee. Extra Special Shout out to Dame Gone Wild for being a gracious host and engineering the session.
Tough decisions were made and feelings were hurt, but we were able to objectively come to a decision to crown the right Blerd. In a field that included the likes of Jordan Peele, Issa Rae, Donald Glover and LeVar Burton, who will come out on top? The ultimate answer? You for listening. I hope you have as much fun watching and listening as we did recording this.
The Truesome Twosome meet in the parking lot of the AMC in Braintree.
New Ms America Rules
Enzo Amore's diss record
Handsome Bane recounts his interaction with the great Beau Billingslea
And the Main Event:
The retiring and rewriting of some dating/relationship rules.
Don't look upon me. I am hideous.
After a long week filled with doubles and birthday party planning, ya boy goes for a workout but the gym does not open until 7am. How ever shall we pass the time?
A rare, unkempt Handsome Bane goes it alone for only the second time in nearly a year to bring you down the spiral staircase of society to the murky depths. What awaits us? InCels, or the Involuntary Celibates: A bunch of dudes who think they should have access to women, but are furious they do not!
Also, it's another edition of the segment, "What We NOT Gone Do", where we politely leapfrog over things the media has beaten to death over the week.
Love, Trust and Believe we're gonna get through it though.
This week we welcome Co-Founder of Killer Boom Box and Boston's own music encyclopedia G. Valentino Ball.
K-Rock and the Bane-Man dispense with this week's bad news and talk briefly about their weeks.
There isn't much time for pleasantries as the crew must get to work on the 30 song One Hit Wonder #ROYALRUMBOWL!
Two random songs will come out of the bowl.
The Trio will vote on a winner based on
1. Commercial success of the song.
2. How "one-hit-wondery" the song/artist was.
3. Quality of the actual song.
Winner goes back into the bowl.
Repeat until a winner is crowned.
G. Valentino Ball can be found on Twitter and IG @gvalentinoball and @KillerBoomBox
The Mancave is closed again. So we're out like Da Band when Diddy closed down the studio. Thankfully, friend of the show, Nancy Lamerique opened up her kitchen to us.
We really are nomads.
We start with a bunch of bummers and eventually climb our way out of the gutter.
School Shootings, racist prick lawyers, people screwing up someone else's to further their agenda. Michigan State owes a lot of people money for a terrible thing and everybody'd asking Handsome Bane about it. HUMBUG!
Then we go back to our notes from the beginning of the school year and help you dumb ol' freshmen get ahead in college before you even skip your first 8 oclock. Get a pen and pad or SUBSCRIBE to the channel so you can review this sage advice whenever you need to.
STORYTIME WITH K-ROCK!
Finally, we start giving people their own theme music. Surely we're not the only ones who pretend to be walking down the aisle to a wrestling ring in our everyday travels. That's why we wanted to do this segment. So we can imagine what it must be like to be other people.
Vote HERE to see what songs will make it into next weekend's ONE HIT WONDER RUMBOWL http://pollmaker.vote/p/G3PGP715
We're back in the Castlevania Mancave for at least another week and the takes are flying.
Happy Mother's Day (without disclaimers)!!
We're tired of talking about Kanye, but we only have ONE question for him.
Our friend Calvin Winbush is embroiled in controversy that he didn't cause.
People get things wrong on Twitter and leave it there because of the likes.
And interracial blerd dating gets thoroughly discussed.
The Duo takes it back to the carpod.
It's Free Comic Book Day and they got free things to show you.
The Bane man tells a story of his kid's heroism.
Then the siblings answer a plethora of viewer questions in the first ever #ASKILAPOW and find out some interesting things about each other.
There's a birthday being celebrated. Spoiler alert: It's Topanga.
First of all, I want to apologize for getting you guys all ready for a viewer mail episode for it not to happen this week. We could have forced it, but then it wouldn't have been what we WANTED to give you guys. You deserve better. All 3 of you who watch and listen to us.
So THIS week, Handsome Bane goes solo-dolo into the city of pod. He introduces the new segment, "What We NOT Gon' Do". He channels his inner Kelen Conley and makes velvety smooth transitions from topic to topic. He also quotes JJohnson313's quoting of an article...or an essay or something. Don't let the fact that it's fourth-hand information take away from it being true.
Pointing guns at high school kids for prom season is not only not funny, it's hack material! HB gives you the building blocks for your relationship with your daughters to like...build trust in THEM. Or whatever.
The Duo welcomes a third in Eric Martinez, cosplay and other stuff photographer. We talk
Spring not-so-much of a break,
Rusev's Twitter Fingers
Eric talks about everything from ethical treatment of photo subjects to his introduction and growth in the cosplay photography game. He also gives pointers for those wanting to start. And he gives you some red flags to look out for if you're not sure your photographer is a sleaze ball.
Twinsies get meet at Franklin Park zoo on a blustery April day to finish their Pro Wrestling chat they began last week.
Handsome Bane beats a dead horse and quickly reviews the entire weekend of wrestling in NOLA last week.
Rogue takes us back to her high school days when she went from working a camera to producing whole wrestling shows locally. Bane tells why he never pursued an actual Pro Wrestling career after training.
Rogue receives a super pleasant surprise. Because friendship.
Truesome Twosome continue to tour the costumed world, but this time at Anime Boston. People were interviewed in YouTube Exclusives. Pictures were taken. Bane didn't pay.
In today's episode we explore:
DMX's music SAVES him from jail?
We introduce the segment, "Hey K-Rock Why Do White People..."
More Anime Boston talk
HB gives his St. Aaron's Day address.
The lady of the house is out making the world better, so ILaPoW's own Swiss Army Knife, Paul Miranda sits in with Handsome Bane to talk about his background in just about everything, the events leading up to him getting sick, his road to recovery and the bright future on the horizon.
Also, he and Bane play fantasy concert promoter and come up with some pretty kick-ass shows.
Next week (Sat. March 24th) the duo will take the show on the road with the Band of Heroes Cosplayers at the XL Center in New Haven, CT.
March 31 Anime Boston
Hynes Convention Center/Prudential
Soundcloud has been giving me all the issues when it came to posting the completed edited version of ILaPoW 2ep9, so here it is in all it's raw glory. The Duo returns to the Castlevania Mancave to talk anime. Then Bane goes off the rails and makes a shocking confession: he doesn't even like anime. Can Sister K-Rock bring her big brother back to his senses? Can she...CONVINCE HIM?!
The Twosome return with a vaunted guest, your favorite science teacher Chantelle Ramirez. We talk about what the word racist really means. What other tools could Chantelle use in her classroom before she picks up a gun? How does she keep all relationships in her class appropriate? And for kicks and giggles, we wash all that tough stuff down with a top 5 teachers list.
The Truesome Twosome reunite and lay down the law on gatekeepers of media and fandoms. Bane recounts his trip to LA. Are you getting the entire #ilapow experience? There could be YouTube exclusives you're missing out on.
Today we bring you the INCOMPARABLE @travoyp. He discusses his #magicthegathering championship and what it's like to represent ALL BLACK PEOPLE in that realm. Also we discuss his everyday pokerface and recommend comics for you.
The team reunites and catch you up on all the changes. You can't see it, but there's a couch now.
Also, Arisia the Sci-fi con is disgust...I mean, DISCUSSED.
Everyday Rogue has FINALLY started watching Steven Universe and if you haven't, the Twosome tell you many of the reasons you SHOULD.
Oops. Hawaii dropped the ball. At least no one dropped the bomb.
Are we really safe? Or are we too safe? With Dusty H Willy around, the answer might be more difficult than you think.
The Truesome talk about:
All the causes in October.
New Website https://hyphenpodcastgroup.wordpress.com/its-like-a-podcast-or-whatever/
Comeuppance at the BTT dojo.
A barn-burner of a Worldwide Group Text.
Why your girl steals your hoodie.
Is Global Warming going to lead to the end of Cuffing Season?
The Truesome Twosome take you back to the front lines of the Spiritual War we're all waging. We review the things we discussed in ep. 12 as well as give you the good news about Deliverance and staying safe after you've cleaned out the house.
Letters from creeps
Ideas for next week's show.
We FINALLY returned to the Castlevania Mancave, but because we black folk, we don't ever have two things that match. So since Everyday Rogue was out, I enlisted the help of Nancy Lamerique. We talk TMNT Testing and HBO's Insecure.
Just to be fair and balanced, we pick up where we left off on the Friend Zone with The Friends with Benefits Zone. Well. I try to explain it to K-Rock before it melts her brain. Ah my sweet summer child.
