The Impromptu Wrestling Podcast

It is that time once again. PPV weekend. Full Gear 2021. It's looking like a great card. 3 championships on the line. Including the AEW World Championship, Kenny Omega vs Hangman Adam Page. CM Punk vs Eddie Kingston, MJF vs Darby Allin, a Minneapolis Street Fight between the Inner Circle and American Top Team and much, much more. You know how these prediction shows work, we take turns choosing first on who we think will win the matches. We go through the list in NO PARTICULAR order. And as always, just to spice it up a little bit. We each get two bonus points available for predicting something very specific that will happen during the show. Full Gear is TONIGHT!! We also take a close look at the breaking news of ROH releasing their entire roster. With so many big names becoming available. Expect some surprise debuts in AEW and WWE come 2022. Episode 87

In a week that had some amazing matches, some sub-par promos, the real talking point this past week was the missed moonsault from Lance Archer. It was a nasty fall but the good news is, it seems like he just rang his bell a little bit and no serious injuries were suffered. In this week's episode we talk about the Archer incident, the resurgence of Andrade El Idolo and also the Impact PPV Bound for Glory. It is an exciting time for us here at IWP. Episode 83 - Superkliq Party

Episode 80 - All Out 2021

This week we have our favorite type of show to bring you guys.  It is PPV predictions. Of course we are talking about All Out 2021. We go over the entire card and give our picks for who will come out on top tomorrow night, as well as, who may or may not show up in a surprise fashion. Bonus points are always on the table. We also take a look at last weekend NWA PPVs and take an in depth look at three of the best matches of the week on the Commentary Desk. Episode 79 - Corvette Goes Over

Hey guys, Great episode this week. We take a look back at Summer Slam weekend in a special edition Scoop of Vanilla. The Commentary Desk talks about Chris Jericho's potential retirement from the ring, and a rant on Twitter marks losing faith in AEW booking only days after praising them. Our Match of the Week was the Tag Team Eliminator Finals between Jurassic Express and the Lucha Bros. We also had 11 more items for Puttin' it Over and a new segment that will return at the end of every month, Thank You Notes. Yes, we ripped off the Tonight Show, and no we are not trying to hide it. Episode 78 - The Best iN the World is BacK

This week's episode of IWP will go down, for our personal history, as the episode it all changed. Not only are we introducing a new format for the show in which, we hope will provide a better listening experience for you the audience. But, It will forever be remembered as the episode we talked about...The Return. For those who don't know, I (Towelie006) have been a life long wrestling fan and honestly, it was hard to watch wrestling in the mid 2000s. WCW was gone. ROH was not easily available to us in Canada. TNA had its moments, but low production value and poor writing made it hard to connect with the stories they were trying to tell. As for the WWE at the time, the shift into the PG Era left a sour taste in my mouth much like every other of the 6+ million wrestling fans who tuned in every Monday night during the Attitude Era. It was a tough time to be a wrestling fan. But, there was one wrestler who kept me engaged in it all. An alternative to the muscle bound behemoths I was force fed to cheer for. A character so different from the typical WWE mold that it made you see yourself in him. He was held down, and made fun of really right in front of our eyes for years. He was the one who got me back into loving professional wrestling. And just as fast as I came back in, the vanilla brand chased him out. It was January 2014 when he walked away from the spotlights of a wrestling ring. I kind of always knew he would come back, the question always was when will he. Well, after 7 and a half years, It's time. August 20th, 2021 will go down in history as the night CM Punk returned to pro wrestling...and he came back in AEW. This episode is dedicated to that moment. Enjoy the show everyone! 

Episode 77 - AEW: RamPage DebUt

Coming at you a few hour late this week as last night was the debut episode of AEW: Rampage! It was an amazing show with one of the most shocking moments in AEW's short history. We of course cover Wednesday night Dynamite as well. Another action packed show. The build up heading into All Out in a few weeks has been amazing and here at IWP, we are super excited for what is to come in the next few weeks. We are changing up the format of the show going forward. We are looking to amp up the pace and cut the show's run time in half. Episode 76 - HoMeComing

This week was not AEW's best work. Homecoming was meant to be a thank you note for the Jacksonville faithful. The show featured the return of WCW and Lucha legend Juventud Guerrera taking on Chris Jericho in the 3rd labor of Jericho. The main event saw the in ring debut of Malakai Black as he took on Cody Rhodes. Besides these two matches the rest of the show failed to live up to the caliber we've gotten used to this summer.  Awkward story progression and weak performances in segments really stalled out most of the storylines featured on this episode. We also take a look at a couple recent releases from the vanilla brand and the potential of one of the hottest free agents soon to be available after this months Summer Slam weekend. Episode 75 - JeriCho H as F

Great episode this week. Fight for the Fallen 2021 was an amazing show. 10 man elimination tag match between Dark Order and The Elite. The Labors of Jericho continue as Jericho takes on the death match king, MDK all day, Nick F*@#ing Gage. This was the most brutal match anyone has ever seen on weekly tv. In our opinion, this match cements Jericho's place as the sole G.O.A.T. amongst all of the legends. Also the teases of a CM Punk debut were littered all over this show. Episode 74 - Transcona Tooth Bite

We have a huge show on tap this week. With 2 PPVs and Night 2 of Fyter Fest to cover, we waste little time jumping into the action. We review Slammiversary 2021 and the some of the aftermath from Thursday's Impact Wrestling. Last Sunday saw Money in the Bank show case 4 pretty awesome matches. And of course Night 2 of Fyter Fest had 2 championships on the line and one of those changing hands. Stay tuned until the end where we discuss the growing rumors that the 2 biggest free agents in professional wrestling have signed with AEW and what these rumors mean to us. Episode 73 - Fyter Fest 2021 Night 1

What an amazing show this week from AEW as they continue back on the road. This week they were in Austin, Texas for Night 1 of Fyter Fest. Two championships were on the line as Moxley defended the IWGP US Title against Karl Anderson and Brian Cage defended the fugazzi, FTW Championship against fellow Team Taz member Ricky Starks. In Impact we take a look ahead to tonight's Slammiversary PPV. Running down all the matches and trying to predict who the mystery competitors will be. Episode 72 - Malakai Black #AllElite

This week's special edition of Dynamite, named Road Rager, was hand down one of the best Dynamites we have seen this year. Jam packed from start to finish. Some great matches, jaw dropping moments and a Debut no one expected.  By far, and if I'm lying I'm dying, the most surprised I have ever been watching professional wrestling. I literally jumped out of my seat. And yes, I mean literally. We discuss everything that happened on this amazing episode of Dynamite and make sure to listen till the end as we look back 25 years on July 7th 1996. The official formation of THE greatest faction in wrestling history. NWO. 

Episode 71 - End of the Pandemic Era for WWE Dynamite

It is finally over! AEW said good bye to Daily's Place in Jacksonville and in turn, the pandemic era. Over the last 16 months AEW has made Daily's Place their home, and with Dynamite heading back out on the road next week, AEW put on one hell of a bon voyage party. This was an amazing episode of Dynamite this week. 2 Matches are definitely contenders for match of the year, a TNT Title match and much, much more. We discuss a scary situation involving Rebel (not Reba) during the tag team match against Nyla Rose and Vickie. As well, we discuss the slip of the tongue from good 'ol JR. Episode 70 - You Can't Take the Jungle Out of the Boy

Great episode this week. We quickly update what has been happening in the 2020 Euros as well as the Stanley Cup Playoffs. We talk about the recent releases from WWE and also mention the 10th anniversary of the Pipe Bomb. Another special edition Dynamite as this week the show is on Saturday night. It was a terrific show with some stellar wrestling matches. The format flowed a lot better than some weeks previous which was a good sign. There were a lot of build segments as the AEW crew are getting ready to get back on the road for the summer. The main event had Challenger Jungle boy get his shot at the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Thanks for joining us a day late this week. This week we are congratulating both Renee and Moxley as well as Brandi and Cody, as they welcome their daughters to the world. Impact Wrestling had a shocking turn of events as the fallout from Against All Odds is dealt with. One last Friday Night Dynamite as next week Dynamite moves to Saturday before returning to Wednesday on June 30th. It was a great show this week. Orange Cassidy takes on Cezar Binoni, Darby Allin is taking on the newly coined Men of the Year in a handicap match. Penelope Ford returns to Dynamite as she takes on Varsity Blonde Julia Hart. Our main event this week is another trios tag match as Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks joins the Good Brothers to take on the team of Penta, Eddie Kingston and the Elite Hunter Kaz. Episode 68

Hey everyone, we have a special episode of IWP this week. As you can tell by the title, it is my birthday once again. But what makes this episode special is Damien is live in studio for the first time in well over a year. So it was really cool to have this conversation in person. The beers were flowing which makes for a lot of laughs and good times.  We talk about the new IWGP Heavyweight Champion as well as the AEW, Impact Summit that took place Thursday on Impact Wrestling. Another Friday Night Dynamite leaves us recording the show fairly late in the night. We talk about the drop in ratings for Dynamite since moving from Wednesday and if there is any cause for concern moving forward into AEW Rampage. 6 Matches on Dynamite this week with Miro defending the TNT Championship against Evil Uno. The Young Bucks tag with Brandon Cutler to take on Penta, Pac and Eddie Kingston. Our main event saw Hangman Adam Page tag with Dark Orders 10 when they faced Brian Cage and Powerhouse Hobbs from Team Taz. All this and more on this week's Impromptu Wrestling Podcast. 

Hey everyone, great episode on tap this week. It's been a while since we have broken the 2 hour mark. But when we have two weeks of news, a PPV review and a full episode of Dynamite...It's tough to contain. Double or Nothing was an extremely fun show to watch, but some booking choices have us criticizing the AEW brass. Another Friday Night Dynamite had the potential to redeem the mistakes DoN made however, it seems they failed there as well. It's one of those shows this week from us at IWP. Enjoy the show everyone. Episode 66 - Double or Nothing 2021

History has been made. The Jets sweep the oilers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. First Sweep in franchise history, (Jets 1.0, Thrashers or 2.0), Longest game ever in franchise history as game 4 goes to triple overtime. We await the winner between the Leafs and the Habs. But enough about hockey. It's Double or Nothing weekend. We had a special Friday night edition of Dynamite as it is the go home show for the big PPV Sunday night. It was a great show, although the matches were strategically not important, they did a good job with formatting this week tying in otherwise boring segments into these after match shenanigans spots. We are also making our official DoN predictions, so make sure you listen to the end to hear how we think the show will go down.  With a mystery entrant in the Casino Battle Royal and other possible surprises, there are a few bonus points on the line to see who takes the DoN prediction crown.  Enjoy the show and enjoy DoN Sunday. Episode 65 - Up In My Mentions

Another huge episode this week here at IWP. We talk about all the top stories from this week including news from Japan, mass releases from NXT and the fallout from Impact Wrestling's Under Siege special last Saturday night. We are two weeks away from Double or Nothing which will be AEW's first event with a capacity crowd which means the storylines on Dynamite are starting to ramp up. This meant a segment heavy episode this week, but that didn't stop the talent from putting on some great matches. Christian Cage takes on Matt Sydal. Hikaru Shida faced Rebel(not Reba). NWA Women's Champion Serena Deeb returns to AEW to defend against red hot Red Velvet, as well as, the AEW Tag Team Titles are on the line. Young Bucks take on hot new tag team the Varsity Blondes. Episode 64 - SCU Later

Last week we talked about Blood & Guts being the #1 show on cable in the United States last Wednesday. This week, we learn that Blood & Guts also set records up here in Canada on TSN.  We also take a peak at the rumor mill as Andrande, Zelina Vega and Daniel Bryan are in the news. We look forward to tonight's Impact PPV Under Siege. A huge 6-way #1 Contenders match for Kenny Omega's Impact World Championship. Dynamite returns with a "Normal" card and absolutely blows Blood & Guts outta the water. 3 Championship matches.  The Forbidden Door is opened further with Nagata wrestling on TNT for the first time in over 20 years. SCU puts their future on the line for a chance at the Tag Team Titles and Miro attempts to fulfill his destiny to become a champion. It is a huge show this week, I hope you enjoy!!! Peace out!!!

Episode 63 - Blood & Guts

Hey guys, great episode on tap this week. We check in quickly with Impact Wrestling as Kenny Omega was on the show and helped Doc Gallows get the win over Impact Tag Champion Juice Robinson. We then turn to Dynamite and the Blood & Guts special. We had some great matches in the first hour as Kenny Omega & Nakazawa take on Moxley and Kingston. It was the history making main event Sunday night as AEW Champion took on Impact Unified Champion Rich Swann. We also take a look at the rest of Rebellion as it was actually a really good show. Also in a "Scoop of Vanilla" a top WWE Superstar reveals he watches AEW. On AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite, aside from an odd format, we got to enjoy 5 really entertaining matches which is what pro wrestling is all about. Enjoy the show everyone!

Hey guys, Great show on tap this week. It is coming a day late. I had a busy week with school and we couldn't get together to record until Saturday night. Non the less, we got 'er done and it was a banger. This week we take a look forward to tonight's Rebellion PPV from Impact Wrestling. It is a history making main event as it is title vs title, AEW vs Impact, Kenny Omega vs Rich Swann. We give our predictions as there are some interesting places they can take this historic match. It is an Impact show but we have an AEW official. We also take a look back at Wednesday Night Dynamite as we had one of the most match heavy Dynamite's ever. Two championships on the line. The return of Trent? as well as Team Taz in action in two matches involving Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. It was a great show I hope you enjoy! Peace!!

Episode 60 - Mike Tyson's Punch Out

Hey guys, we have a great show for you this week. We take a look back at Wrestlemania 37. 5 matches that we though stood out on the weekend. We talk about a returning legend on Impact's Hardcore Justice special. Impact and AEW held a press conference for Kenny Omega and Rich Swann. Also, don't forget about AEW Dynamite. It was a great show this week as Darby Allin defends his TNT Championship against Matt Hardy in the main event. Kris Statlander returns to the ring after a year long hiatus. The Young Bucks with a new look, new gear and new attitudes take on Rey Fenix and Pac with the AEW Tag Team Championships on the line. Le Champion, newly refreshed after the beat down from the Pinnacle a few weeks ago, leads the charge against the aft for mentioned faction as he takes on Dax Harwood. And to make sure the match goes on with out a hitch, Aubrey will have a special guest enforcer ringside. "The Baddest Man on the Planet" "Iron" Mike Tyson!!! It was a monstrous show this week that did not disappoint. Enjoy the show everyone!!

Episode 59 - Young Bucks Sellout

Huge episode of IWP this week.  It's Wrestlemania Week so we are going to take a look at NXT stand and deliver matches. A quick Preview of what to expect this weekend from the show of shows. We also take a look back at Sakura Genesis as Will Osprey Challenges Kota Ibushi for the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Kenny Omega makes his Impact Wrestling debut on weekly television as he teams with the Good Brothers to take on Rich Swan, Willie Mack and John Cena....tune in to find out the joke behind that one.  Dynamite this week was difficult to watch with all the production issues as AEW return to LIVE tv this week.  Issues aside, Dynamite had some great progression with some storylines and more of the same with others. Episode 58 - The Faction Era Begins

Hey guys and gals, great conversation this week after another great episode of Dynamite. From a debuting legend, to returning stars, this weeks episode of Dynamite had us popping at every moment. The AEW debut of Christian Cage started off the show as he faces former TNA rival Frankie Kazarian. A six man tag match involving the AEW Champion Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers take on the Lucha Bros. and Laredo Kid. The Arcade Anarchy match was a little goofy on paper when announced, but surprised us over and over again. We discuss it all in this action packed episode of The Impromptu Wrestling Podcast. Enjoy!!

Episode 57 - Toss It Up For The Hard Cam

Great Episode on tap this week. We take a look at Kenny Omega's first promo in months on Impact Wrestling. Also, the relationship between Kenny and the Young Bucks comes to a turning point on Dynamite. Episode 53 - The New Big Show

Season 2 is finally here! We have a new format as we eliminated some dead weight to the show. We hope this gives us some more consistency in hitting that 60 - 90 minute range. We have a great show for you this week as we break down AEW Dynamite from February 24, 2021. Matches include, Moxley vs Nemeth, Team Taz vs Hollywood Blondes, Cutler vs Hager, Page vs Kassidy, Baker vs Rose and the main event Archer vs Fenix. Episode 52 - One Year Anniversary

Hey everyone, we have done it.  52 weeks ago we didn't think we would still be here but here we are indeed!  IWP celebrating our one year anniversary.  We started 52 episodes ago uploading video podcasts on YouTube.  We had a lot to learn about audio quality, video quality, presentation, thumbnails, pretty much anything and everything that goes along with producing a podcast.  Slowly and surely we progressed.  Getting a little better every episode.  We feel like we have improved over the last year and we hope you all think so too.  

With that being said, let's get into the future of IWP.  Going forward with season 2, we are cutting BTE and AEW Dark from the reviews.  We want to concentrate on giving dynamite the focus and attention it deserves.  As well as the working relationship AEW is procuring with the likes of, IMPACT, AAA, NWA and now NJPW, we felt like discussion involving these situations when the arise has priority over Dark Order making us giggle on Monday afternoons.  So look forward to a more stream lined version of IWP going forward this year.  

Speaking of the new streamlined podcast, we have a great show for you this week.  Dynamite featured some really great matches.  Proud & Powerful getting their long awaited first title shot at the Young Bucks' AEW Tag Team Championships.  A star studded six man main event featuring, Kingston, Butcher and The Blade vs Moxley, Archer and Fenix.  Let's not forget the match that truly stole the show, as NWA Champion Serena Deeb takes on the long awaited return of former AEW Women's Champion Riho, in the first round of the AEW Women's Eliminator Tournament.  Be sure to subscribe, leave your 5 star ratings.  We will catch you all next week!! Hey guys, great episode on tap this week.  Dynamite was awesome this week as we see the return of "The Bad Boy" Joey Janela taking on TNT Champion Darby Allin.  The first match in the upcoming AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament, Thunder Rosa vs “Legit” Leyla Hirsch.  As well as the proverbial "Forbidden Door" being kicked down as KENTA, of New Japan Pro Wrestling, tags with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega to take on Lance Archer and Jon Moxley in a falls count anywhere match.  KENTA will be cashing in his opportunity to challenge Moxley for the IWGP U.S. Championship February 26th.  On top of all these great matches we also see one of the first "Face Turns" in AEW history.  Who is it? Episode 50 - Go 2 Sleep Club

Hey guys, we made it.  Episode 50,  only 2 episodes off of the official 1 year IWP Anniversary.  Thank you for all the support this year, dating back to the You Tube days and continuing through the transition to the audio only version.  The jump to Anchor and Spotify, as well as other podcasting platforms was smooth and easy thanks to Anchor.  It is truly a remarkable service.  I just wish they would allow us Canadians to benefit from the ad sharing programs.  Anyways, great show on tap this week.  Beach Break was an awesome show, pulling in 830 000 plus average viewers.  Matches that took place were the anticipated meeting between Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Thunder Rosa.  A lumberjack match between Eddie Kingston and Lance Archer.  The Tag Team Battle Royale, to determine a #1 contender for the Young Bucks at Revolution March 7, and the main event of all main events.  Omega and the Good Brothers face off with Pac, Fenix and Jon Moxley.   This episode of Dynamite also culminates with a surprise attack on Moxley.  A surprise that opens the wrestling world wide open.  Tune in until the end of the episode to hear our thoughts on what this could mean.  Enjoy the show everyone.  Peace out! 

Episode 49 - This is What Hell Looks Like

Hey guys, great episode on tap this week.  After a rough review of last weeks Dynamite, AEW bounces back with a solid show this week.  Great match ups between Eddie Kingston and Lance Archer, Jungle boy vs Dax Harwood, and an 8-man tag for the record books.  Yes! You heard that right. An amazing 8-man tag match for the main event blew us away as Young Bucks reunite with the Good Brothers to take on the Dark Order.  We also take a look at the winners from the first ever B/R Live AEW Awards.  Who took home LOL Moment of the year, Biggest Beatdown, and Breakout Stars male and female?  All this and more in this weeks Impromptu Wrestling Podcast. Episode 48 - The Betrayal Is Real

Hey guys, great episode this week on IWP.  It was an off week for the crew at AEW.  Dynamite was rushed and matches were awkward.  We discuss how this hurt the overall presentation of Dynamite.   We also discuss how a young tag team from AEW jump into the invasion on Impact Wrestling.  In a huge main event Tuesday night, Private Party take on veterans, Chris Sabin and James Storm.  The winner becoming the #1 contenders for the Impact Tag Team Championships.  Lots to talk about, so enjoy the show.  We will catch you all next week! Episode 47 - Tag Team Slut

Hey guys, we have a great show for you all this week.  Night 2 of New Years Smash was a huge show on paper, But will it stack up with the incredible matches we saw on night 1.  NWA Women's World Title is on the line as Serena Deeb takes on Tay Conti.  The top guys FTR are taking on Marko Stunt and Jungle boy.  Eddie Kingston defends the Familia against "The Bastard" Pac.  And the main event see TNT Champion Darby Allin take on "The Machine" Brian Cage.  We also discuss some of the PWI awards for 2020, as well as AEW partnering up with Bleacher Report to dole out their own set of awards.  We go through one x one and choose the matches, moments and stars of the year.  Enjoy the show everyone!!

Episode 46 - The Hand Gesture

Hey Folks, this weeks episode was a great one.  We finally get to watch night 1 of New Years Smash and it did not disappoint.  We had two title matches, an 8-man tag feature for top tag teams, a great promo from the returning Jon Moxley and quite frankly a surprising, hard hitting slobberknocker of a match involving Inner Circle big guys Hager and Wardlow.  All this leading to the moment of the week.  The ending of the show was history in the making but you'll have to listen to the end to get our take on it.  It was an overall very entertaining show this week which is what we needed after last weeks somber celebration of life tribute show for Brodie Lee.  Great conversations as always for the boys, so sit back and enjoy! Episode 45 - RIP Brodie Lee

Hey guys, welcome back to the show.  I hope everyone had an awesome and safe holiday season.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to everyone supporting the show.  We took a week off for Christmas but, now that it's Saturday, you know what that means.  We are back and have a humongous show for you.  Two weeks of AEW to get through.  Two BTE's, two AEW Darks, Holiday Bash as well as the very sad, very tragic passing of the exalted one, Mr. Brodie Lee and the tribute special Dynamite we watched this past week.   It was a rough week for everyone in the wrestling world.  Brodie touched so many people and was widely regarded as the best, nicest, least selfish guy in the locker room.  Not too mention recognized as the greatest father and family man anyone has ever met.  We learned a lot about Brodie from the celebration of life we witnessed on Wednesday, and we would like to share with you our take of the man known as Big Rig, Luke Harper, Mr. Brodie Lee but most importantly, father and husband Jon Huber.  

Episode 44 - Just About, Not Even Close

Hey guys, a little of a late start this week.  Like last weeks show we had some technical difficulties, although this week it was my audio that was effected but, Again, we power through.  There is no way to sugar coat it,  this week was a down note.  Weak executions along side over bookings led to a week in AEW that will and should be forgotten.  However a few bright spots amongst the darkness peer through and leave us, at least, expecting a better week next week.  Once again we quickly cover Impact wrestling as AEW World Champion Kenny Omega makes his presence felt as we are left with a tease of the return of a faction thought left behind in Japan.  One of the best bits we have seen on BTE in a long time has us laughing and wanting more.  Waiting Room bounces back after a few misses on AEW Dark and of course AEW Wednesday Night Dynamite.  Just about, not even close to a passable weekly episode of pro wrestling.  Enjoy the show everyone and we will catch you all back here next week! Episode - 43 Kenny Makes An Impact

Episode 42 - Winter is Coming

Hey guys, this week was absolutely insane!  "Winter is Coming" was essentially a Pay Per View.  Two hours jam packed with; Dynamite Diamond Battle Royale, Jericho vs Kazarian, Britt vs Hirsch, a legend returns home to TNT and of course, the highly anticipated AEW World Championship match between Moxley and Omega.  It was by far the best episode of Dynamite we have seen to date.  Which means we present to you, the listeners, the best episode to date.  So make sure you are all subscribed, leave those 5 star ratings.  Enjoy the show!  We will catch you all next week, PEACE!
