On Episode 27, I am joined by clinical haematologist, Dr James Morton.

Dr Morton is the founder of Shave for a Cure, which is now known as World's Greatest Shave. This initiative raises funds to support research efforts and help families affected by blood cancers. Since the event’s inception in 1998, World’s Greatest Shave has raised over $100m dollars for blood cancer in the last decade alone.

Dr Morton and his wife also helped established the Autism Early Intervention Outcomes Unit which provides individualised therapy and care for young children with autism.

In January 2015 Dr Morton was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his significant service to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and oncology.

In Part A of this podcast, we will discuss:

Dr Morton’s journey into medicine, World’s Greatest Shave, and innovative treatments related to blood cancers.

Kieren has competed both nationally and internationally. He specialises in the 5000m and 10000m. In 2019, Kieren placed first in his age group at the Zatopek Australian 10000m Championships.

In 2020, Kieren became the NSW and Melbourne university Champion in the 5000m.

Kieren shares some practical advice about how you can deal with pressure and overcome adversity.

Sledging: “A term used in cricket to describe the practice whereby players seek to gain a advantage by verbally intimidating opponents. The purpose of sledging is to disrupt the opponent’s concentration, causing them to make mistakes or underperform.”
