This episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a conversation about Racco and Fixxx's most recent experience on edibles, they are vastly different. We then move into a conversation and review of a collaborative album called 'Two Heavy', released by Motswana artists BiscuitHead and Oddly Risque. Before we get into the review we do touch on some very sad yet monumental news, this is Fixxx's second last ever episode of Down to the Beat before he returns home to the mother land for a couple of months. During this time we will be filling his role with another great host, so do not fear. We finally cap the episode off with some talks about Mac Miller's former drug dealer going to jail with two other people for their involvement in his death and LL Cool J and Jay Z being inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. 

This week's episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a review of Northsidebenji's newest tape 'The Extravagant Collection' which is an incredible piece of work from a Toronto pioneer. We then move into a review of The Alchemist's 'This Thing of Ours Pt. II' and an overview of his work with the underground scene. We then cap the episode off by talking about the RZA and Lebron's new collaboration on a meditation app and Boosie's recent tweets responding to Lil Nas X claiming they'd make a 'fire' collab.

This week's episode of Down to the Beat is review heavy, being kicked off with a hard look at Don Toliver's new album 'Life of a Don' being followed by an intense comb over of Thugger's new album 'Punk'. We then dream of what our personal albums would look like if we were billionaires and finally cap the episode off by looking at Tech N9ne's new song 'Face-off' which features The Rock. 

This week's episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a conversation and review of Meek Mill's new album "Expensive Pain" which is unlike any of his past projects. We then talk a little bit about the music we've personally been listening, and our frustrations with the rap game. After that we chop it up about Cranium Festival, which happened here in Ottawa this past weekend (Oct. 1-3). To cap the show off we quickly discuss the lineup for this season's Super Bowl halftime show.

This week's episode is kicked off with us trying to debunk why people are so obsessed with NBA Youngboy, sparked by a quick look at his album, Sincerely Kentrell. We then talk about to iconic albums that dropped this week in history, the first being "The Low End Theory" by A Tribe Called Quest and the other, "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" by Outkast. We then cap the episode with finally getting to the bottom of the Drake vs. Michael Jackson debate and figure out there is in fact no debate. 

This episode of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a conversation about Baby Keem's new album, "The Melodic Blue", which turned out to be the dark horse album of the summer. Seriously, that shit is fire. After that we pay respects to Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur as on the day of recording, Biggie dropped "Ready to Die", and Tupac passed away. To cap the episode off, we talk about the Graduation vs. Curtis rollout which occurred 14 years ago. A friendly beef between Kanye and 50 Cent that made us reminisce about a simpler time in hip hop competition. 

This episode is the one you have all been waiting for. It's here, or should we say, they're here. Kanye West and Drake have both dropped their much anticipated albums and we finally get the chance to review them. There isn't much more that needs to be said to describe this episode than that. We also show some love to Mac Miller and give credit where credit is due to Tyler, the Creator for their new single "Big Persona". We also cap the episode off with some Kendrick talk. 

This episode is kicked off with a discussion about some of the notable people who have birthdays today. We then move into a conversation about Cole Bennett, his grind and how Lyrical Lemonade is growing to be one of our favourite brands. We then talk about Racco and John's music video acting debut and the block party City Fidelia held here in Ottawa. We then cap the episode off with some commentary on the Drake and Kanye West war that seems to be on the horizon. 

We got a full studio this week folks as all five DTTW staff take to the studio for this week's episode. Sadly, only three of us are mic'd up... The episode is kicked off with a quick history lesson on NWA's one and only ever EP titled, "100 Miles and Runnin'", their first project after the departure of Ice Cube. After that we talk Donda, again, and question whether or not it is actually going to live up to the hype. The episode is then capped off with a breakdown of Tekashi 6ix9ine and Jim Jones' longstanding feud where we deep dive into the logistics of 6ix9ine's accusations regarding Jones and how it looks for Jim Jones through the eyes of two guys who are not even close to being about that life.

This week on Down to the Beat we kicked off with a deep dive into the legendary MC, Nas and his 13th studio album: "Kings Disease II". In 2020, "Kings Disease" was Nas's first ever grammy winning album and for him to come out with a sequel within less than a year is really saying something. We then pay homage to the legendary Biz Markie who passed away July 16th 2021. We talk about the impact he had in the game since the late 60's as well as his great sense of humour that made the type of Hip Hop we all grew to love. We then cap off the episode with another discussion about Kanye West's upcoming album DONDA and how we felt about the 2nd listening event he had at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The first ever Tuesday release of Down to the Beat is kicked off with a discussion about Isaiah Rashad's new album, "The House Is Burning" which was met with varied receptions on this week's four person cast. We then move into a conversation about Kanye and his upcoming album which of course still hasn't dropped. We then cap off the episode with a discussion about Travis Scott's new movie deal with A24, after dancing nervously around not talking about the DaBaby incident from Rolling Loud two weekends ago. 

This week we catch up with the Zulu in Atlanta, the one and only Ngola. Hailing from Umlazi, South Africa, the multi faceted artist now resides in Atlanta and is releasing music under a genre called "Zulu Sci-fi". Over the course of an hour, your hosts with the most chopped it up with him about everything from his time as an actor, his label/collective "Leaders of the Future World", his views on the current state of hip-hop, his rich heritage and how it affects him to this day.
