Based on the wildly popular video game series now Prime Video has delivered us an 8-episode series streaming with them. Fans of the video game were no doubt eagerly anticipating the series since the recent uptick in video game franchises well - finally being done right. AA and CM we’re not followers of the game series but welcome those with knowledge to please join us in the comments! Our perspective will be that of the casual Prime Video viewer. But no matter what your background be it vault dweller, ghoul, or brother of steel we’re ready to re-enter the wasteland with you!

Back in the year of Our Lord 2002, Evil Dead director Sam Raimi and Sony gave us the feature length on-screen Spider-Man we’d waited since 1962 to see. Tobey Maguire donned the blue and red webbed suit and Marvel was never the same again. They’d had Blade, and they’d had the X-Men but now their flagship superhero was leading the charge. It solidified Tobey as Spider-Man at that time and made JK Simmons J. Jonah Jameson til this day. And it would happen for Raimi and Maguire two more times in 2004 and 2007. Completing the Raimi/Maguire trilogy to somewhat mixed reviews. On April 15, 2024 the Spider-Man movies returned to movie screens and presented a whole new audience an opportunity to see these films for their first time on the big screen! We’re going to talk to one of those audience members along with someone who saw them their first time in theater! Wealth and fame? He’s ignored - action is his reward! At long last the return of RICK GRIMES and MICHONNE!! This is the story every Walking Dead fan has been waiting to see come to its conclusion. Last we saw Rick he was blowing up a bridge and being airlifted by the lady with the worst haircuts on TV - Jadis. Then we had to wait. And wait and then wait some more. We saw The Walking Dead proper end. Fear the Walking Dead end. Tales of the Walking and a Daryl Dixon show. There may have been some we missed. All the while we wanted to see Rick and Michonne together again and hopefully reunited with Judith and RJ. Well all was answered in this 6 episode series. Where’s Rick been? What’s he been doing? For the Man Who Has Everything by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons is easily one of the greatest Superman stories ever told. Debuting in 1985 this tale is so beloved that it even received a Justice League Unlimited episode in season 1, episode 2. The story see Wonder Woman, Batman & Robin visiting Superman at the Fortress of Solitude for his birthday. What they don’t expect to find is Supes in an almost comatose state with a strange rose bush attached to him. The other thing they don’t expect is to see Mongul has crashed the party. Am interesting and classic tale unravels as we continue to ask ourselves what do you get - For The Man Who Has Everything?

In February of 1996 the two biggest titans in all of comics collided for the crossover people had been asking for - well as long as they’ve both been in existence. There were to be 11 bouts with the heavyweight fights to be decided by fan voting. It was quite the time to be alive! We were going to see Superman vs. The Hulk, Captain America vs. Batman, Spider-Man vs. Superboy just to name a few! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a story for every generation it seems. “Hope is not lost” reads the tagline of DARYL DIXON - AMC’s latest installment from THE WALKING DEAD empire. As one of TWD’s premiere cast it was only ideal that following The Walking Dead proper that Daryl be set out on his own adventure. Initially slated to feature Melissa McBride reprising her role as Carol Peletier. While McBrides’ involvement changed in the show it went on anyway. Daryl was headed to France. Which left many of TWD fans wondering “how the hell is this possible?” And this is where tonight’s show takes off for your French connection podcast, Double A and CM Chuck of Just Another Friday Night! It’s back! The critically acclaimed second season of WINNING TIME: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty on MAX. Especially tough since it was recently announced that the series would not return for a 3rd season. This one is all about the rivalry! Ervin “Magic” Johnson VS “The Hick from French Lick” Larry Bird. While both would go on to Olympic gold together and Hall of Fame careers this season shows us how one of the greatest rivalries in sports was deepened to the point where you were either chanting “Beat LA!” or “Fuck Boston!” Either way it went the fans were winning. We’re telling you - you’re def left wanting more of Winning Time!

You think he’s cute, you think he’s sexy, he’s got the moves that drive the girls wild! He’s San Antonio’s own HEARTBREAK KID SHAWN MICHAELS! The Showstopper, Mr. WrestleMania, and the man regarded easily as one of the greats in professional wrestling. Shawn Michaels has been making unforgettable moments in the ring since his debut in 1984. From being one half of The Rockers with Marty Jannetty, to their historic Barbershop break-up, to becoming the Intercontinental champion, winning the Royal Rumble back-to back in 95/96, and finally achieving the boyhood dream in a classic iron man match with Bret Hart, to win his first WWF championship. Shawn has had a historic career filled with ups and downs professionally and personally but ultimately culminating in a legacy that can never be matched! HBK is definitely a JAFN favorite 4 life!

"Yes, yes very good. Thank you." The Shadows gang is back on Hulu with their 5th season! Last we left Guerillmo he had taken his transformation from 'Familiar' to vampire into his own had hands. Eventually Laszlo is able to figure this out and decides to aide Gizmo is keeping his secret. Part of the problem is that Guerillmo has yet to fully become a creature of the night and Laz aims to figure out why not. All this while the gang’s attempting to avoid rousing suspicion with Nandor. All our faves are back like Collin Robinson, Nadja and her doll, and even Baron Afanas! Give a listen and tell us what you thought of Season 5! The word is out and Ahsoka is - IN! At the time of this recording we’re 2 episodes into the latest Disney+ series AHSOKA! As we continue to wait for Invincible Season 2 Amazon Prime gives ATOM EVE. The prequel/origin story story provides us with an insight to Samantha Eve Wilkins. A mysterious stranger from her past enters into her life to begin unraveling her tragic backstory. With this story comes the origin and true potentially of her powers. It’s an interesting albeit sad look at an adolescents discovery of their powers at 12. In the vein of Spider-Man and the X-Men, Atom Eve gives us yet again the story of being exceptional in an i accepting world. We’re also going to recap and review the final 3 episodes of The Witcher Season 3 as a bookend to our previous episode this season on the first part of The Witcher!

The golden left hook, the golden looks, and the Olympic gold medal - Oscar De La Hoya was The Golden Boy. On July 24 HBO released the 2-part documentary THE GOLDEN BOY. A must watch for any fan of the sport of boxing and for non-fans it’s an interesting look at a man who seemingly had it all, yet still faced serious struggles in his personal life. De La Hoya was the classic case of women wanting him and men wanting to be him. A gold medalist, an 11-time world champion, and a successful promoter and businessman. What more could someone want? As with all success stories though there were definitely trials and tribulations to be overcome. Join our conversation as we discuss the documentary and the fighter who could be considered one of the greatest of all time. Let’s get ready to ruuuuuumble!

We haven't discussed comic books with you all in almost a year and that's way too damn long for us! Ford, now 81, plays a 70-year-old Dr. Henry Jones for a 5th time in the franchise. This is the first time however that the character is not under the direction of Steven Spielberg. James Mangold of Logan and Ford v. Ferrari fame takes the director’s this time and the man certainly has a way of giving icon characters a perfect send off. Phoebe Waller-Bridge enters the fray as Indy’s goddaughter Helena, and is set-up as a potential successor to the Jones throne. JAFN favorite Mads Mikkelsen also comes aboard as the trademark Nasi villain. We had a blast with this film and while box office numbers have been dismal it’s not for lack of a quality film. Tonight we’re going to discuss the film and the franchise and our love for the character all-around. To quote Sallah “Give em’ Hell Indiana Jones!”

***SPOILERS for THE WITCHER Season 3 Volume 1*** "When a humble bard, graced a ride along, with Geralt of Rivia, along came this song"…Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier are back!!! Season 3 Part 1 of The Witcher debuted on Netflix on June 29 with the first 5 episodes of the season. Volume 2 arrives in a few short weeks on July 27. This season is what we know is Henry Cavills’ last ‘wild hunt’ as the White Wolf before Liam Hemsworth will don the signature hair and yellow eyes of Geralt. While it won’t be the same without Cavill we look forward to the remainder of this season and reflect on the adventure thus far! So grab a pint of ale or some wine and do as Jaskier would do - “toss a coin to your Witcher!”

Disney+ on June 16 released the autobiographical “Stan Lee” for streaming. The hour and 20 minute long documentary tells Stan’s story in his words. Coupled with pictures, audio, and new animations Stan walks us through his extraordinary life as Marvels’ merry editor-in-chief and more! The master of alliteration and King of the Cameo is certainly missed in the hearts and minds of all his fans. Join us for our thoughts on the documentary, The Man, and the Legend that is Stan Lee! THE FLASH has arrived and while box office numbers have been less than stellar we cannot deny the anticipation we have had for this film. For the first since the 90s Michael Keaton dons the cape and cowl and returns - again as BATMAN on the big screen. For a pair of kids from the 80s whose first on-screen superhero at the movies THIS is a big deal. This one is going to have ALL the spoilers kids so if you haven't seen The Flash and plan to you may want to come back after you've seen it. But if you saw it and have an opinion then stick around - we'd love to hear it! Or if you simply need to decide if you're going to see it or not - well we think we can help you out there too! Since then James Gunn has given us a sequel, a Holiday special, and finally a conclusion to the trilogy. Not to mention appearances in Infinity War, Endgame, Love and Thunder, and What If…? The Guardians won over fans and haven’t looked back. Tonight we want to discuss their contributions to the MCU and collective pop culture. We want to talk the amazing soundtracks, the villains, and ultimately where GotG ranks among the MCU trilogies. Also is Gunn enough to tackle the DCU? Our final episode on Marvel's DAREDEVIL series! Originally streamed on Netflix and now on Disney+ we discuss the third and final season of Daredevil! Final for now! As we know Disney+ is going to soon be giving us Daredevil BORN AGAIN - with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio back in their respective roles of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. Double A saw this season before CM as well and couldn't recommend it enough. As the resident JAFN expert on DD it was well executed advice. This season acts as a lynchpin to the entire series including The Defenders. If it was a last act for this cast it was an epic one for sure. Unlike so many shows that conclude in a non-gratifying way this one was damn near perfect. We're taking our last lap around Hell's Kitchen for now - until we too can be BORN AGAIN! In our follow up to last weeks Daredevil season 1 episode, we stay in Hell's Kitchen to talk DAREDEVIL SEASON 2! We’re not stopping there though as we’re also going to discuss the series that connected the Netflix Marvel Series' - THE DEFENDERS. Appropriately so, as Disney+ has these shows categorized as “The Defenders Saga”. In DD S2 we get the introduction of a huge player with Jon Bernthal as FRANK CASTLE aka THE PUNISHER. We also get a shining star in Elodie Yung as ELEKTRA NATCHIOS a huge piece of Daredevil lore. Elektra carries over into The Defenders we finally see Matt Murdock meet up with LUKE CAGE, JESSICA JONES and DANNY RAND aka THE IRON FIST! It’s a lot to cover with many worthwhile action sequences and dialogue that delivers! Have coffee as Luke Cage would then join us for this episode!!

The Devil of Hells Kitchen. The Man without Fear. DAREDEVIL. Attorney Matt Murdock is known by many names and he lives up to them all! Since moving to Disney+ we’ve seen Charlie Cox re-don the horned helm in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk. It got us wanting to talk about the series that started it all. The first season of Daredevil premiered on Netflix in 2015. Fans were quickly won over by Cox as Murdock as well as Vincent D’Onofrio as an excellent Wilson Fisk. So much so that D’Onofrio returned to the Fisk role as well in the Hawkeye series. The entire cast is stellar however as well as the action and storytelling. It was treat to watch this DAREDEVIL! And this is just part 1 of our DD coverage! Grab a whiskey from Josie’s and let’s enter Hells Kitchen together!!!
