The aim of this podcast is to explore, learn and spread the message of Re-wilding and Natural Movement so that we as humans can live in more alignment with our nature and reclaim what it means to be fully alive.

The podcast will cover topics such as hunting, nature connection, anthropology, evolutionary biology, community, natural movement and so much more.

The modern world has stripped away so much that used to nourish our mind, body and soul, this podcast will help illuminate how we can reclaim and restore our innate wild, capable and strong spirit.

Natalie is 38 years old and after almost 15 years on a plant-based diet and becoming very sick, decided to reintroduce animal products into her diet. Her health recovery journey started with an ayurvedic/paleo diet and ended with the PKD diet (Paleolithic Ketogenic diet) under the care of Paleomedicina. Dr. Zsofia Clemens and Dr. Csaba Tóth helped her get her health back again. Now she is healthy and symptom free, working as the nutrition consultant for Paleomedicina Hungary.

Being exposed at a young age to country New South Wales Nick began escaping the city as often as he could to enjoy some of Australia's most beautiful locations. Developing a deep connection with the outdoors in one of the best ways possible through Fly Fishing has led Nick to discover new rivers, landscapes and trails while pursuing fish through the art of fly fishing. It teaches patience, develops connections with the natural world and is one of the most rewarding experiences.. fish or no fish. From this love of fly fishing he began his own passion project, Norfolk Wild. As a keen lover of mountains and rivers, and observing a rise in the popularity in fly fishing, Nick decided to work on a fun side hustle to connect with others who share in the interest and enjoyment of fly fishing.

Natural movement has been the key theme of Rafe’s life since he was born. He has immersed himself in various martial arts practices such as Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira and Muay Thai.

Rafe was one of the first parkour teachers in North America and co-founded Parkour Visions, one of the most highly respected Parkour teaching institutions in the world.

When Rafe encountered the work of Georges Herbert and Methode Naturalle he started to take his practice into the natural world. Climbing trees, lifting logs, swimming and carrying rocks underwater.

He is the founder of Evolve, Move, Play and it is his passion to help people build the physical practice that will help make them the strongest, most adaptable and resilient version of themselves in movement and in life.

Shaun Wood is one of Australia's longest practicing Parkour Athletes. Part of the first generation of Australian Traceurs, Shaun was also the first Aussie to compete in the World Championships back in 2009 and has competed in several Red Bull Art of Motion competitions, also a founding member of Team Farang, Shaun has spent his Parkour Career traveling and creating videos all around the world. About today’s show:

Today I have the honour of sharing a conversation I recorded wth Anders Clausen.

Anders Heymuth-Clausen is the founder of and trainer at “Urkraft Ullrs Leid”.

He is also an Artist under the name of Ullrs Blod.

He is a MovNat Lv. 2 certified trainer, and he participated in Lv. 3 certification in 2019, and he is still working on passing the final tests.

Before Anders got into MovNat in 2018 he had been practicing Capoeira, parkour, calisthenics, Aikido, Wing Tsun, plane fitness training and crossfit.

In 2015 he wrote a bachelors degree on the subject of “ How humans are originally designed to learn”, which brought him 50.000 years back in time.

Since that he has incorporated that perspective and used it as a holistic compass in his mind when searching for answers on problems in modern day life. Since then he has always tended toward searching back for answers 50.000 years ago, asking himself, how were we originally designed to function and how that fits into this current context, situation or challenge.

As he discovered MovNat he found his way back to the physical aspects of those exact questions.

In the fall of 2014, Anders visited Bergen in Norway, where the spiritual aspects of his rewilding process was founded in the early morning on a Mountain called Ulriken.

For as long as he can remember he has been attracted to people’s who practice nature-based spirituality and religion, their views, their ways and their cultures.

On the mountain of Ulriken he found the final piece he needed to link together with his Nordic, Scandinavian nature-based spirituality and way of life, a connection which has been an essential part of his physical and mental training and health ever since.

Today he teaches in a danish public school and trains people in the practice of Natural Movement in Copenhagen, Denmark

About today’s show:

Today I am sharing a conversation I had with Thijmen Apswoude of Living by Nature.

Thijmen grew up amongst hunters, nature lovers, bee keepers and many other nature oriented enthusiasts. At the tender age of seventeen, Thijmen moved out being already well groomed to meet nature’s tough demands. It was at this age with an already good understanding, he started developing his know-how of nature by his own initiative. He stocked up on nature themed books, went out to forests with friends and acquaintances and experimented with all kinds of shelter building, crafting, cordage, foraging for food and gaining an overall experience of living in the wild. He not only went by the modern equipment for surviving in such environments, but indulged in learning and adapting the ancient ways of survival. It is then he first coined the term ‘bushcraft’ among friends. Little did anyone know that soon hereafter, at the age of 18, Thijmen would not only be scurrying amongst trees and bushes for pure fun. He would transform his passion into something that has become more than learning. It has become teaching.

His knowledge of living by nature has become abundant; he’s applied himself to showing others the craft and benefits of the ways of old. The ways that still apply today. Surviving alone or with a single companion for over five weeks, with no other equipment than a knife, has taught him many things. Not in the least that he found his place.

It isn’t where walls of brick and stone keep out the conditions that weary most other people. It is those places where you feel small and one with nature. Where he doesn’t feel like a citizen but a human being. “If you’ve never done it before, it’s hard to imagine,” he says, “I became conscious.” Over the past ten years he has seen many European and Canadian landscapes and designed courses for each different environment and scenario. Has has developed several courses for bushcraft schools in Europe and has been a guest instructor for companies and founded his own school: Living by Nature, which nowadays is one of the most outstanding schools in primitive and native skills

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation I recorded with Tom Foley

Tom Foley is a young, enthusiastic Earth skills instructor and practitioner, teaching at Australian Survival Instructors school since 2017. Specialising in indigenous skills and Experimental Archaeology, Tom’s mission is to learn dying skills and preserve the ancient ways of indigenous peoples from around the world, passing them on to the next generation. Currently studying a bachelor of Archaeology, focusing on the skills that have proved fundamental in the evolution and construction of humanity as we know it, such as running, flintknapping, hunting, friction fire, tanning and much more. Having already travelled to Israel, the UK and Rarotonga to learn methods of living off the land and Experimental Archaeology, Tom has only just begun his journey in preserving the first skills of humanity, now planning his next trip to live with the Hadza Bushmen of Tanzania. With extensive experience in the production and recreation of artefacts, Tom has produced working replicas of stone age tools spanning from his home in Australia all the way to the frigid shores of the Arctic.

About today’s show:

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation I recorded with Tom Brown III of Trackers Earth.

Tom, also known as “T3,” has been a life long student and practitioner of primitive living skills, wilderness survival and nature connection. Born in New Jersey in 1978, he grew up learning the skills our ancestors used to live close to the Earth from his father, Tom Brown Jr, founder of the Tracker Wilderness Survival School. Growing up at the Tracker School showed him the profound effect reconnecting people to nature can have not only on the individual but on the planet as a whole. After spending a few years wandering across America, he has spent the last 20 years teaching the skills he learned as a child. Currently Tom lives in Oregon and works with Trackers Earth as the director of adult programming. He is also the foraging/homesteading coordinator for Anchored Outdoors, which is a new website dedicated to hunting, fishing, foraging, and homesteading. When not teaching or writing, Tom is an avid fly-fisherman, traditional archer and nature photographer.

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation with Bill Von Hippel.

Bill von Hippel is Professor and prior Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. Bill conducts research in evolutionary psychology and is a Fellow of numerous academic societies. Bill has published over 100 articles and chapters, and his work has been widely reported in the media, including the New York Times, the Economist, USA Today, Le Monde, Il Mundo, Der Spiegel, and the Australian. Bill recently published his first book, The Social Leap, which received the 2019 Book Award from the Society for Personality and Social Psychology.

We talked about the human evolutionary timeline, the key points in our evolution that created changes in our psychology and physiology and so much more.

Today I had Simon Thakur on the show..

Simon is a movement teacher, lifelong practitioner and explorer of bodymind traditions from around the world. He has an academic background in medical science, anthropology, evolutionary biology and ecology; movement disciplines including Yoga, Chinese internal martial arts, Capoeira Angola, Feldenkrais, Butoh, wrestling and Brasilian Jiujitsu; a decade-long career as a bodyworker, therapist and rehabilitation practitioner;  extensive practice and research into Buddhist, Yogic and Daoist meditation; and an ongoing exploration of bushcraft, survival skills and rewilding. Ancestral Movement is the synthesis of this experience, an ongoing exploration of human embodiment within the context of biological evolution, ecology, and the shared ancestry of all living beings through deep time.

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation I recorded with Lee Trew.

Lee taught bushcraft and 'coyote mentoring' on youth camps, before training as a psychotherapist and counsellor.

Lee has been using Jon Young's coyote mentoring approach for over a decade, and began learning and teaching bushcraft as a teenager at the Forest School Camps in the UK. He studied indigenous survival skills at Tom Brown Jr's Tracker School, and Practical Primitive, both in the US, and spent a year living in the bush, finding shelter, water and food on the landscape; putting it into practice. More than that, he found a radically new experience of what it means to be human.

Now he brings psychology and bushcraft together for rewilding; helping people of all ages to reawaken their wildness and deepen their connection with the natural world.

He was also:

Today I have the pleasure of sharing a conversation I had with Dr. Bill Schindler.

Dr. Bill Schindler is the founder and director of the Eastern Shore Food Lab, an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland and the co-star of the National Geographic series, The Great Human Race, Curiosity Stream’s, The Modern Stone Age Family and Wired Magazine’s, Basic Instinct.  He is a food archaeologist, primitive technologist and chef.  He travels the world documenting traditional food ways and works to draw inspiration from the deep archaeological record, rich and diverse ethnographic record and modern culinary world to create food solutions that are relevant, meaningful and accessible today.  Bill is a strong advocate of traditional foodways and is constantly seeking new ways to incorporate lessons learned from his research into the diets of modern humans.  His outlook on food has revolutionised the way in which he and his family eat and he attributes much of the health his wife and three children enjoy to the nutrient dense hunted, gathered, and fermented foods that comprise a significant portion of their diets.  He empowers people around the world to eat like humans again by reconnecting them with their food, past, environment and communities through speaking, teaching and writing.

Woniya Thibeault is a naturalist, craftsperson, and ancestral skills instructor, and her greatest ambition and joy is striving to be a wilder human.

Woniya’s work, through her business Buckskin Revolution, is to help people feel connected to their wildest, freest selves, and to the living world around them. She believes that practicing ancestral lifeskills in the context of our globalized, mechanized world is an important and revolutionary act. She teaches a wide range of topics, sharing skills that help people feel empowered to make and do more things for themselves and to feel and more connected to their human ancestors and the living world around them. Gathering and growing our own food, making the clothes we wear from resources in the woods around us, learning to understand what the birds are saying about the movements of other creatures in the forest are a few examples of the skills she teaches. Woniya teaches through in-person classes, her Youtube channel, speaking engagements, and the books she is currently writing.

Woniya believes that these skills and life ways are an important part of our human heritage and should be available to all of us. They speak to that place inside us that remembers what it feels like to know the world around us intimately, to shape the substance of our lives from the raw materials around us. They remind us what it is to be human and connected to the wild within and around us.

With a masters degree in Environmental Science and 25 years of study and practice of ancestral lifeways, Woniya works to bridge the practical hands on skills for land based living skills with a deep understanding of and love for the natural world.

The Buckskin Revolution is not just making buckskin clothing, or harvesting wild foods or survival skills, it is about inspiring and enabling people to do more for themselves and to be freer, healthier, wilder, more connected human beings.
