Insecurher Part II (FEAT Julie & Brittany)

Insecurher Part II (FEAT Julie & Brittany)

Insecurities are no stranger to us in society, males and females alike suffer from doubts, fears and lack of confidence about things that society has told us is not the norm or accepted.

We thought it was important to dedicate this episode to our fellow females. We are the hardest on ourselves and on each other and because of that we seem to be suffering the most from these insecurities.

We decided to have this conversation with total transparency and featuring women in our circle whom we believe to have suffered the most, our friends Brittany and Jullian.

Pull up, Let's CHAT!

It's JUST the Culture or is it???

It's JUST the Culture or is it???

It's JUST the Culture or is it....???

As a Jamaican woman and/or man there are a lot of Cultural practices that we live by wholeheartedly, no questions asked.

We don't know why, we are taught to do or we grow up seeing it and we just accept it.

Channie and Connie being proud movers and shakers decide that it is about time that we question the status quo and the norms.

Join us in the conversation, we are listening to hear what you have to say....

The Sex Talk We Never Had

The Sex Talk We Never Had

For Generations, when it comes on to sex we have been thrown out into the water and was expected to swim, and that we did. Many of us did not have the 'birds and the bees" talk it was rebutted/invalidated with answers such as "you fell out of the sky" when asked how did I get here.

Due to this cultural practice throughout the generations Jamaica has been plagued with high teenage pregnancy rates, rape cases reported and unreported as no one really understands the full scope of things.

No conversations were had, until now.

This is "The Sex Talk We Never Had" Pull Up, Let's Chat!!!

Side note: Look forward to an authentic Jamaican experience. Tell us what it is when you hear it?!

Crime and Violence: Product of Dancehall?!

Crime and Violence: Product of Dancehall?!

How often have you heard the debates that dancehall is one of the major causes of crime and violence? How many of us have agreed with that sentiment one time or another?

On this week's episode we dissect that notion and examine all the individual factors that affect our crime and violence rates in Jamaica. On one end of the spectrum we talk about the negative aspects of dancehall and on the other end we talk about the influence dancehall has on the world stage.

Join us as we discuss our own individual thoughts on the matter.

Dating-ish In Jamaica

Dating-ish In Jamaica

Hey Google!

Define dating (relationship)

Google: Dating is a stage of romantic relationships practised in Western societies whereby two people meet socially with the aim of each assessing the other's suitability as a prospective partner in a future intimate relationship.

JaFluenters, if you were to define dating how would you define dating?

In this week's episode we touch on dating or dating-ish in Jamaica and what it means to us. We discuss the prominence of cat-calling and how our society has normalised such as the standard for approaching females, and the sensitive topic of pedophilia and the side effects of such, we also touch on our various dating experiences.

We hope you enjoy and find this episode as educational as we did.

Growing Up Jamaican In Jamaica

Growing Up Jamaican In Jamaica

Hey JaFluenters!

Welcome to our very first episode.

On this week's episode we give you a little insight on what it was like for us as girls growing up in Jamaica.

We reminisce on how our backgrounds and socializations helped to shape how we interact with others in a bigger setting such as high school, college and/or university.

We dive into how education plays a vital role in how parents socialize their children and the short-comings of such rigid systems.

We regale ourselves at the culture shocks we both endured transitioning from an all girls institution to a co-ed one.
