Fed judge rejects Uhuru 3’s Motion to Dismiss; Trial date expected to be set in February
On Friday, January 26, 2024 U.S. Magistrate Judge Anthony Porcelli in the federal district court of Tampa, Florida filed an order recommending that District Judge William Jung deny the Uhuru 3’s motion for dismissal of the bogus charges against Uhuru Movement founder and Black Liberation leader Chairman Omali Yeshitela, along with Penny Hess and Jesse Nevel, two white solidarity organizers with the Uhuru Movement.
Last year the U.S. federal government indicted the Uhuru 3 on the absurd charges that Chairman Omali Yeshitela and the Uhuru Movement’s 50 year struggle for Black freedom suddenly became a “Russian-led conspiracy.”
The indictment came nine months after the violent military-style multi-city FBI raids on seven homes and offices of the Uhuru Movement on July 29, 2022.
The Uhuru 3 attorneys’ motion for dismissal called for the baseless charges to be dismissed on the grounds that they violate the First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
The case is expected to go to trial later this year. Dates for the trial are expected to be set at a status hearing in February.
“The U.S. government has put us in the position of having to fight for the free speech that they claim is the cornerstone of U.S. democracy,” said Chairman Omali Yeshitela.
The Uhuru 3 each face a sentence of up to 15 years in prison. The Uhuru 3 case sparked the emergence of a global anti-colonial free speech movement led by the Hands Off Uhuru Fightback Coalition. Donate to the Hands Off Uhuru Legal Defense Fund at handsoffuhuru.org/donate

I have been a sailor, linguist, NSA Analyst, retailer, insurance agent, stock broker, registered principal, venture capitalist, business turnaround expert, bestselling author, paid corporate speaker, direct marketing executive, TV Talking Head seen on CNBC, Fox, CBS, and ABC, Real Estate Developer in Mexico, and when it collapsed in 2008 in a desperate effort to save what couldn't be saved, an inmate in the Arizona Prison System. I deserved what I got, and as a result of that last one, I gained insight that is unique in that there aren't too many people smart enough to become self-made millionaires and then stupid, reckless, and selfish enough to fall all the way down to the bottom and living among an ocean of criminals from drug addicts to murderers. It was there that I came to understand that first, the usual prescriptions to end crime are just propaganda and then experience a revelation of EXACTLY what to do, a detailed plan and path forward, to restore our country to where it was in terms of safety in 1964.
Why that year? It was the year when the Civil Rights Act passed at last making all forms of discrimination illegal forever. It was also a time when you could leave your doors unlocked, your keys in the car, and the words school (or church, synagogue, mall, store, nightclub, concert) and shooting never appeared in the same sentence. The Plan will return us not back to the past but the way we faced the future in the past. It will make crime something that most of us never experience nor fear while at the same time saving our culture in general. It rests on Four Pillars: Justice, Courage, Moderation, and Wisdom and based upon Objective Reality. It is unique.

Yaffa utilizes peer support as a foundation for all their work, supporting peer-run spaces in organizational capacity building, equity, and sustainment. Mx. Yaffa brings together engineering, peer support, and trauma to support their vision of more equitable and accountable communities that lead to individuals' self-actualization. Mx. Dr. Johns was appointed the first executive director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans by President Barack Obama and served from 2013-2017. Dr. Johns was a senior education policy advisor to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions under the leadership of U.S. Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and has served under the leadership of the late U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA). Dr. Johns was a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Fellow in the office of Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY).Dr. Johns received his Ph.D. in sociology and education policy at Columbia University. Dr. Johns obtained a master’s degree in sociology and education policy at Teachers College, Columbia University, graduating summa cum laude. Liam Brennan
An Advocate for Justice
Liam has dedicated his career to economic, racial, and social justice. Having grown up in working class neighborhoods and as part of a large extended immigrant family, Liam learned early on how the government could both help and hinder families trying to make ends meet. And he resolved to be a catalyst for change.
During law school, Liam interned with Junta for Progressive Action (“Junta”) providing free legal services to low-income residents. During that time, he was a researcher that helped support Junta’s and Unidad Latina en Acción’s (“ULA”) “City to Model'' proposal that produced nationally-recognized pro-immigrant municipal reforms.
After law school, Liam joined the Department of Justice, where he took on corrupt hedge fund managers, debt collectors, Wall Street bankers, and Connecticut’s former governor. Liam also worked in a drug rehabilitation court to help justice-involved individuals reduce their time on supervised release. After the massacre at Mother Emanuel church, he was part of a small team that brought the then-national Chair of the NAACP, Rosslyn Brock, and then-director of the FBI, James Comey, to New Haven to discuss community and police relations with local residents.
Liam left the Department of Justice to become a legal aid attorney. At New Haven Legal Assistance Association, he worked closely with the Dixwell Community Management Team and the Community Placemaking Engagement Network around economic issues. He also assisted Mothers and Others for Justice to form the Room for All Coalition that developed a series of affordable housing proposals. He then joined the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (“CVLC”), where he helped expand state-wide services to low-income veterans recovering from homelessness and mental illness. While the executive director at CVLC, LIam oversaw an increase in services to survivors of military sexual assault and the production of two national reports on gender and racial disparities in Congressional nominations to the military service academies.
In the wake of the 2020 push for criminal justice reform, Liam was recruited to become the first Inspector General in Hartford. He currently serves in that position, where he investigates allegations of police misconduct.
