Today's show takes us to Philadelphia, where we chat with guitarist/singer Greg Sover. Pistols at Dawn
I headed to downtown Kansas City to the beautiful Midland Theater to interview Pistols at Dawn before the performance. They were on the bill that night with Mammoth WVH and Alter Bridge. I climbed aboard their tour RV to chat all things Pistols at Dawn.
Guitarist Will James, guitarist Devin White and bassist Sean Benham chatted with me after their soundcheck but before their performance. We discussed life on the road, their TWO top 40 rock hits, what it's like being on the same bill with a Van Halen, and so much more! Russell's current project is 'The Lords of 52nd Street', where is 1/3 of the classic combination of himself, Liberty DeVitto (drums) and Richie Cannata (saxophone and flute). They, along with the late great Doug Stegmeyer, were the backbone of Billy Joel's band in his heyday - from the mid 1970s to the late 1980s. Eric Johnson - Episode 111
One of the guitarists on my Mount Rushmore of Guitarists stopped by to chat about his TWO new albums. The phenomenal Eric Johnson zoomed in from his home in Austin Texas to discuss 'The Book of Making' and 'Yesterday Meets Today'. These 2 new albums feature 9 tracks each and will be released on July 29. Johnson utilized his Covid quarantine time wisely to go back into the vault and look at all sorts of various projects he had worked on the past to reimagine as part of this release. Plus he worked up some new tunes.
Eric arrived on my radar way back in 1986 with the release of Tones (I'm still freaking on the outro solo of 'Zap') and over the decades he's won a Grammy, toured the world and collaborated with a ton of amazing artists.
