John R. Olsen, Esq., World Travel Dad's Dad Passes Away
This week, World Travel Dad talks about losing his father within the past few days.  There are some stories that many listeners haven’t heard fully, thanks for listening during this tough time! If you want to play the currency markets, but don’t want to open a foreign bank account, WTD highly recommends Wise service.  He has been using it in the global arbitrage game to great success.  You can use this service even if you just stay in the US.  When you need the Euros for that next trip, they’ll be there, and you’ve bought when the dollar was strong. https://wise.com/invite/u/jameso1983 Click the above link to start your account today.  Full disclosure:  WTD gets a very miniscule kickback if you sign up and capitalize with at least $300 in any currency.  This will help fuel his copious beer drinking.  If you think the US dollar is going to come down before your next trip, this is a good tool.  I cannot overemphasize how much versatility this account has given me in trip planning and execution, not to mention currency arbitrage. Have you ever considered taking a break from the rat race?  Find out how we did it, and how you can too!  Read helpful and concise blog articles about cooking, skiing, and traveling with your kids at Some Wonder link tree. https://msha.ke/somewondertravel/ World Travel Dad blog with fitness, business, and parenting quick reads. http://worldtraveldad.com/ As always, please subscribe and share with any friends who like to travel and have ever thought about longer trips.

Thanksgiving Break in Singapore!
Thanksgiving Break in Singapore!
WTD goes patriotic when he talks about Thanksgiving.  But is quick to acknowledge the low rank of US on corruption indexes. https://www.transparency.org/en/cpi/2021. The headline segment returns to the show, as WTD sounds off on Crypto and FTX.  He’s just grumpy that he missed the boat on BTC, but is laudatory on blockchain technology and oracle networks, whatever the heck those are. Movie review of Top Gun.  WTD watches the movie on a plane with aviators on.  Plus, Singapore airline first experience, and Black Tap Burger for Thanksgiving Dinner. This week, World Travel Dad does the “do’s and don’ts” for Sanur, Bali.  Highlights include a jogging binge, Mexican food, and shorts that would make Magnum P.I. blush. Plus, a bonus daytrip review to Nusa Penida and a tour company recommendation. Find Out How the World Travel Dad Family is Financing the Big Trip -- Tips and Tricks for Your Next Journey
Find out how the World Travel Dad family was able to (sort of) pay for their big trip. The biggest roadblock may be renting out your house to strangers.  Yikes!! Bali Episode #4 - Nusa Dua; Bonus Marriott Hotel Review
Bali Episode #4 - Nusa Dua; Bonus Marriott Hotel Review
After giving up the cubicle life, WTD is worried he’ll be TOO relaxed at the Balinese masseuse.  He is, however, harboring stress in a strange body part. The family extends their visas at the immigration office.  Then they need a break and a three-night pamper sesh at the Marriott, Nusa Dua (on points yo). WTD tries surfing a reef break and embarrasses himself.  He’s far enough away from shore that no one witnesses.  The family enjoys a dip in the warm Indian Ocean. Bali #3 -- Family Trip to Ubud! Reviews on Family-Friendly Sights to Help you Plan the Trip.
This week’s episode is all about what to do with the kids while you are in Ubud, Bali.  Whether you are a digital nomad with your family in tow, or just want to take the family for a few weeks in the Southern Hemisphere, we have a comprehensive rundown. Take a dip at the pool and grab lunch at Good Day Ubud. Weather you enter the Sacred Monkey Forest, or just walk by, it will be a hit with the kids, and you WILL see macaques. WTD recommends visiting the Sacred Water Temple, Tirta Empul.  The family meets a cab driver who offers to take them to the temple, only to find out he served as a skilled de facto guide.  Don’t get ripped off, just take up the offer for a taxi driver to take you and explain all the rules. Reviews on Green School and Wood School. WTD flirts with veganism at Zest, Ubud. Restock your travel books at the local library.  WTD geeks out over the tattered book covers. Check out podcasts referenced:  Nomad Capitalist, and Rebel Capitalist. Bali Episode #2: Have you Ever Considered Moving Abroad? Here's What you Need to Consider.
Bali Episode #2: Have you Ever Considered Moving Abroad? Here's What you Need to Consider.
This week learn what World Travel Dad found out in the first four months of his trip with his family.  The good, the bad, the ugly of how the trip is going.  It isn’t such a simple answer. WTD recommends taking a long trip somewhere first before you commit.  Also, you have to be pretty creative these days to find the “deals.”  But WTD is concerned his quest for cheaper deals may lead to stepping on a crocodile some night. Learn about Global Arbitrage, and who blinks first on the homesickness meter.  The results are truly shocking–unless you know how much of a softie WTD is. Check out podcasts referenced:  Nomad Capitalist, and Rebel Capitalist. Top Five Ways to Tell if you are Being Ripped Off at a Restaurant
This week World Travel Dad sounds off on restaurant rip offs, of which he has become an expert through experience.  Learn how to spot the overdone, gimmicky, waste of time restaurants before they spot you. Sexual inuendo drinks, and the dreaded charcuterie board. Coming up next week we're back to regular trip episodes, still from Bali.  This time we'll have a full rundown of kid-friendly Ubud, Bali.   This is the perfect place to bring your kids on a long holiday, so tune in.   Thanks for listening and please always subscribe, leave a review (only if five star, duh), and thank you to my Colorado friends for listening, Mike, Doug, Greg, Abra, and if I missed anyone let me know.  I didn't want to say your names in the show or you might accidentally be associated with this amateur drivel.

Bali Episode #1 - Do's and Dont's of Ubud, Bali
After spending 10 days in Ubud, Bali, World Travel Dad naturally thinks he has the place figured out. In this episode, he pontificates over the do's and dont's of Ubud. Spoiler alert: Toilet paper not recommended! Should you get on a strangers moped? How are the Balinese people? This week's episode will help you research the destination and offer some fun tips. WTD finds out that he's been given the gringo price for some mangoes. He also tries his hand on the "digital nomad" lifestyle, which is a work in progress. If you have ever considered this part of the world for your vacation, this is the episode you have to hear. We will be broadcasting from Bali for several weeks, so make sure to follow the Instagram account and tune in for each part of this series on this great island.

Istanbeautiful--Six Exciting Days of Istanbul. The Coffee, Deserts, Dinners, and Culture
Istanbeautiful--Six Exciting Days of Istanbul. The Coffee, Deserts, Dinners, and Culture
WTD gets a Turkey tease in Istanbul.  This is a great culture that needs more attention.  The family takes a cruise up to the Black Sea and stops for lunch in a village on the Asian continent. The Grand Bazaar is insane.   Listen for the precise rules on visiting mosques so you don't offend.  Learn how to drink coffee like a Turkish person.   The family stays in a great neighborhood, and WTD has a bit too much Raki one night.

Unique Southern France, Pyrenees, Art Heavy Hitters Dali and Picasso, Secret Wine Finds
The family finds a gem in Southern France.  World Travel Dad finally dips his tows in the French Mediterranean--and it does not disappoint. Are the French a bit standoffish?  This part of France is all about bigtime art. The Catalan culture is fascinating and a great place to visit, whether in Spain or France.   Salvador Dali museum is insane, in a good way.

Grand City of Paris, Eiffel Tower, Museums, Charming Neighborhoods and Cafe Culture
Grand City of Paris, Eiffel Tower, Museums, Charming Neighborhoods and Cafe Culture
The family stays in a small airbnb, but is luxurious by Parisian standards.  WTD thinks the entire town is a cafe.  WTD's family has more confidence in France after having been through France Bootcamp. Eiffel Tower is a must, though WTD is too afraid to go to the top! Musee d'Orsay is the real deal.  WTD goes full Robin Williams and talks about what it is like to stand before the Monet Coquelicots.   Paris with kids is a blast, but you have to have some advance planning and realistic expectations.

Two Weeks In Normandy. Bayeux, Omaha Beach, and Mont St. Michel
Two Weeks In Normandy. Bayeux, Omaha Beach, and Mont St. Michel
World Travel Dad is shocked by the lack of tackiness of the global site of Mont St. Michel.  Mont St. Michel nocturnes delivers a magical evening. The good weather during the Omaha Beach visit creates a nice contrast with the somberness of the events of the place. Bayeux deserves more than one day!  A gem of a town that escaped the bombs of WWII.  The family visits a market and buys fresh oysters.   Join us next week for a trip to Loire Valley, Villandry, and the Dordogne, en route to extreme Southern France.

World Travel Dad also criticizes the typical blog posts designed only for SEO rules and wonders why he didn't read anything about the Frognersteren stop!  The take away is that locals should be consulted whenever possible for a valuable trip.
