This presentation is dedicated to my special friend Jean-Luc. Poem is John Keats' "Ode to Psyche" and song is Alanis Morissette's "Ablaze." There is a connection in there, I promise. And also, maybe not. Maybe it's just all very pretty, and pretty doesn't need a reason.
Relationships are a dance, preferably a salsa. Sometimes a waltz? Sometimes a sway? Anyway, it's all about the click and the click and the click. Song in the background is Gorillaz, "Feel Good." And then there is another one but I forget what that's called.
I don't know if any of this is true, it is just my metaphysical understanding of how free will and choice works. This is about the complexity of choice vs. destiny and fate, sin and suffering, and how to break old karmic bonds that hold you back from true freedom so you can live authentically and from a place of wisdom. (Wow, that sentence is a mouthful!) So it's about discernment, possibilities and potential, facing your shadow, being a spiritual warrior, and the role of SexyJesus in the whole darn thing. He's so helpful! Truly!
Listen to the whole thing on My Finest Hour. Nina Simone is the greatest gift in the world. And Before Sunset is my favorite movie, because it is set in Paris, and Paris is my favorite place to go. Paris j'taime.
Yet another wonderful conversation with Financial Literacy Expert Chris Mouzon, who I always turn to for worldly knowledge AND spiritual insight. This guy is worth his salt. He knows what is what. I trust him. You should, too. #financialhealer #literacyexpert #determinewhatistrue
This is the path of the shaman, the yogi reiki healer, the sage, the wise one. I am opening it up to a few good men in a course called The Sacred Sensual Healer. Five men, to be exact. They will have to past several tests to be rewarded. And the reward they seek may never come. They will have to be okay with that. I love you! Bisous, always. Visit www.motherjana.com to learn more. You have to work a little for this, but it is always worth it.
Shamanic healing practices span centuries, and sometimes they come as intuitive downloads when we open ourselves to love and to the spirit world in an effort to heal and promote healing. This is my recording of an embodiment practice, tapping into shamanic ritual, on Friday, June 5th, 2020. This is my offering to the ancestors with the intention of peace, in the midst of riots and protests over the death of George Floyd, and the underbelly of racism and violence in America. You can try your own practice with the help of these instructions from my newsletter: https://motherjana.substack.com/p/my-womb-carrier-of-the-soul
Originally designed for women who have experienced shame about their bodies, this meditation works for both women and men who want to give themselves tender touch and healing in a relaxed and safe space. The touch employed here is pleasurable, warm, and inviting, using your own hands for healing. Perfect for an embodied meditation any time of day or when one is having a hard time sleeping.
No one on this podcast has any authority about scripture. These are just two friends, who love a divine being called Jesus (or SexyJesus), and they have different takes on what he teaches about money. One comes from a traditional Christian background; the other merges Quakerism and yoga and her own intuition and study. They have a conversation. Maybe they learn things. Maybe not. (The woman in the podcast is me, Jana Rose. The other is my friend Chris Mouzon, awesome man and financial therapist, healer, teacher.)
An OJibwe Indian tradition is to repurpose songs for new understanding, and as a form of healing and ceremony. As supplement to the story, "Me and a Tape," I sang the original song that inspired my story and influenced my life in a big way, which is "Me and a Gun," by Tori Amos. I am not a singer, but this song poured out after I read my story aloud. I would encourage anyone who has been abused in any way, or who has felt isolated and alone, to sing the song of one who has reached you, and taught you that there is hope. I dedicate this to abused men and women everywhere, so they know they can heal and be renewed. I was and am.
Tori Amos's words have provided much healing in my life. She was a priestess and a guide when I didn't have much guidance, and she altered my path in a positive way. I will be forever grateful for her strength.
Jana Rose reads a story she published by Cagibi Literary Journal last year, "Me and a Tape," based on the Tori Amos song, "Me and a Gun." It is about a middle school girl who is isolated in her life, but hears a woman's song (Tori Amos) through her headphones, and feels not so alone anymore. The story explores themes of rape, abuse, trauma, and struggling to find one's way out of the darkness.
An oral reading of a letter on Earth Day, sent to a child, about who Eve really is, as we develop new understanding of the Bible's teachings. You can follow MotherJana's letters through her newsletter on Substack: https://motherjana.substack.com/

Listen to the online book launch interview and reading with Jana Rose from March 27, 2020. Letters to a Young Woman: Lessons on Life and Love, from Paris, is part-spiritual memoir, part-rallying cry for women to own their lives, take ownership of their bodies and their spirituality and create a new paradigm for the future. Young women carry the torch to honor feminine energy and spirit to help heal the problems of our world. While this book is addressed to young women, it is a book to help heal women at any age who have been wounded by patriarchal religion.
"Otherworld" is a futuristic short story about a young woman named Anya who is obsessed and in love with the artist she works for. While her mother suffers from a disease, Anya spends nights at her boss's studio, becoming his latest muse for an installation he has created that reminds people of the days they could go outside and experience nature, before the government's regulations kept people indoors. This story was published in Inkwell Journal, No. 35, Spring 2020, under the theme "Sanctuary." Author is Jana Rose.
How do we bring topics of sexuality and sensuality to the forefront for people who need help in their relationships? Why does traditional religion exclude pleasure and sexuality as part of experiencing the divine? What can we do to help women and men remove fear and shame surrounding their bodies and sensuality? Jana Rose talks to Candice Smith, Partner of Tango, a product that offers a box of questions to help couples talk about sex and love. Candice Smith is a graduate of Harvard in Sexuality Studies, a speaker, and widely-published author about sexuality and communication.
Do you have a definition or understanding of the 21st century man? Jana Rose speaks with Miguel Olave, mental health advocate, about what the 20th century man looks and acts like, as well as how to heal from childhood trauma and what to teach boys about vulnerability.
