Soul Tending

The first week of this two-week period brings gentle Planetary transits that offer you space to process the intensity of the last two weeks. The last half of this phase brings you the intense Scorpio Full Moon on April 23rd which follows the disruptive Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Taurus on April 20th.

Astrologically, this is one of the most important two-week periods of the year. The retrograde Mercury in Aries is working with the Aries Solar Eclipse to bring about consciousness transformation and soul evolution at the collective and individual levels. 

Much gets reveal in the interpersonal sphere as the Sun in Cardinal Aries exposes limitations of unconscious relationship dynamics through the Libra Full Moon. The Libra Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse echos the collective soul’s need to move beyond past relationship and boundary that keep humans at war within and with each other.

The pioneer is an archetype, associated with the Aries sign which is supported by the Aquarius sign through their natural sextile aspect or angle. Evolutionary Astrology, the wisdom school which guides my delineation centers on the Lunar Nodes and Pluto as the mirrors for the soul journey. This year, the Lunar North Nodes, the point that supports soul growth, is in Aries, and Pluto, the Planet of soulful or psychological transformation, is entering Aquarius.

This phase feels slower, quieter, and heavier than the last two weeks. This is the phase for emotional integration after much outward expression and social connection of the last phase. There is an Elemental shift from mutability to greater stability, from Air and Fire to more Water and Earth.

The Gemini Full Moon on Monday, November 27th, is a wonderful time to reflect on ways you can befriend others, especially those in your local surroundings. Many around the world have no choice but to leave their homes in search of a safer place to live. For those of us living in a secure neighborhood, town, or country, now is the time to appreciate all that the locals have to offer and contribute to the wellbeing of the local community.

The next two weeks bring you the karmic result of the last nineteen years. It’s a reckoning for the collective. For many of us the reality is a nightmare. Scorpio relates to terror. When the world is filled with fear and panic, what we do and how we response to the state of terror determines whether we perpetuate the nightmare or end it by waking up to the dawn of day and the beauty on Earth.

The Taurus Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on October 28th shines a bright light into the dysfunctional behaviors that block humans from moving past the reactive pattern of fight or flight, freeze or fawn. The inability to relax into the present and cherish the sensual nature of life on Earth is directly connected to the disconnection from Mother Nature, the yin, and the feminine.

The next two weeks are bookended by the nodes of fate activities in the midst of the eclipse season. An eclipse occurs around a new moon or a full moon. It appears along the nodal axis of the moon. It’s astrological significance is eminent as the Moon has the power to shift the emotional tide. And, the Lunar Nodes have the force to break the soul free from an old karmic cycle and an unhealthy relationship dynamic. The current Aries/Libra Nodal Axis reflects a shift deep in your soul and psyche as a certain relationship in your life reaches a conclusion. There might be a sense of not knowing how to move forward. It’s a perfect time to observe, learn, and take careful and considerate steps toward the change you want to see in your life.

The Moon is in their sunny phase during the next two weeks. Their journey, from the waxing crescent phase in Sagittarius to the waxing gibbous phase in Gemini, reflects your growing awareness. This is the period to expand your emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills through relationship exposure.

The Moon journeys through the First Quarter phase in Libra to the Waxing Gibbous Phase in Scorpio and Sagittarius this week. Relationship issues culminate to a climax during the Full Moon in Capricorn on Monday, July 3rd. There is an increased Water Element as the Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Neptune are all in the Water signs and in conversations with each other and the other Planets. This emotional time is an opportunity to immerse more in the alpha brainwave frequencies of non-linear experiences which support emotional integration.

The psychological and relationship healing (or the lack thereof) that takes place this week will solidify as conscious action (or subconscious reaction) next week during the Full Moon in Capricorn. Moon in Virgo opposite Sun in Pisces at 17°, on Tuesday, March 7th at 4:40 am PST reflects our capacity to see more clearly the pattern of unhealthy habits or addictions which is often rooted in relationship insecurities. The illumination sheds light on how we’ve been perceiving ourselves unkindly through others and channeling our reality obscurely through relationship. The Full Moon in Virgo supports a releasing of the past cycle that began with the New Moon in Virgo on August 27, 2022.

The lord of karma or personal responsibility, Saturn, leaves Aquarius to enter Pisces less than an hour after the exact opposition between the Sun and Moon on Tuesday, March 7th. The Elemental shift from the Fixed Air of Aquarius to the Mutable Water of Pisces occurs less than one week after Mercury, the ruler of Virgo left Aquarius to enter Pisces.

Relationship is at the forefront of our emotional awareness this week as the Moon reflects more and more Sunlight and motioning from the Waxing Half Moon in Gemini to the Waxing Gibbous Moon in Virgo and Leo. Relationship is the realm of Venus. And Venus is renewing their current relationship cycle with both Jupiter and Chiron this week.

The transpersonal stage of development during the Balsamic phase and into the New Moon in Pisces last week completed the monthly emotional cycle. We begin another cycle of soul learning this week. The New Moon in Pisces wakes up from the deep sleep to greet the new dawn of Aries. The Moon is now fully in a new phase and the feeling is very fresh and vital.

The initial or cardinal light of Aries contains a tremendous force of passion for life. Its survival requires movement or action that tends the Cardinal Fire. Too little movement or airiness snuffs out the flame. Too much outward action without enough fuel or grounding in the physical needs burns out the fire. This week’s powerful lunation integrates the coolness and clarity of the Sun in Aquarius and the fiery and willful Moon in Leo. The Full Moon in Leo is yang and extrovert. While the Sun transits through the Fixed Air Aquarius they are farthest from their home sign, Leo. This reflects the cold and clear days of the mid-winter in the northern hemisphere. The ability to see far into the horizon beyond the naked trees relates to the future oriented Aquarius. The Aquarius season invites us to plan for a better future and for the collective humanity.

As the Moon in Leo embodies the full light of the Sun in Aquarius there is an integration between personal will and authentic expression of Leo and humanitarian concerns of Aquarius. Innovative ideas that bridge our present conditions to the better future and our hearts to every heart of the community are plentiful this week. The more we co-create with others the greater we can transform personal creativity into social innovation.

This week’s Moon transit provides an increasing light as the Moon moves through a new cycle, from the New Moon in Aquarius to the Waxing Crescent Moon in Pisces and Aries, and into the Waxing Half Moon in Taurus at the end of the week. We’re feeling more ready now to share our inner light, engage with others and expand the awareness.

All the Planets are going direct this week. Those of us who had enough rest and done enough mental purification during the heavy retrograde season in the past six months are now feeling a greater sense of renewal and the readiness to communicate with the world what we’ve been gestating in the creative womb.

The Sun enters the humanitarian sign, Aquarius, on Friday, January 20 and the Moon enters Aquarius on the following day, Saturday. The two luminaries conjoin each other, renew their relationship and begin their new cycle. The New Moon in Aquarius ushers in the Lunar New Year.

Aquarius is the season of change and innovation. Hence, this week’s focus is on creative freedom and collective progress. From January 20 to February 18, we’re invited to bravely commit to sharing our unique ideas and visions with others.

Welcome to 2023. This is a wonderful week to reflect on how much we’ve sacrificed involuntarily in order to move forward, find opportunities and rebuild a life of integrity. After a couple weeks of swimming in the ocean of dreamy Pisces we are now washed ashore on to dry land and getting ready to climb up the Capricorn mountain. This week is about a commitment to build our dreams and manifest our creative imaginations in the current social, economic and political environment. The work demands creative commitment. Without which we remain stuck in psychological limitations and unable to work with the change and the current environmental and social atmosphere. Hence, the theme of this week’s soul tending astrology is Creative Commitment.

Creative commitment is a three-part process:

2. Physical and social limitations guide creative expressions

3. Creativity transcends psychological and physical limitations

Full Moon conjoins Mars, the Planet of war, in Gemini, the sign of communication, means that what we hear in the news or gossips and speak or write about become the point of contention. The Mars’ influence on the Full Moon in Gemini illuminates the tension within our friendship and work circles. The best way to embody this Full Moon is by exercising and resting the body more and speaking, writing, texting or posting a lot less.

Mercury and Venus in Gemini square Jupiter in Pisces throughout the week. These difficult transits reflect small and big arguments we are having with friends and coworkers as well as with those who are supposed to be our allies and supporters such as our employers and mentors. The soul lesson here is to remain mentally flexible while cultivating a strong physical boundary.

This Sagittarius season is amplifying queerness by bringing it up to the forefront of our collective consciousness. From the midterm election full of LBGTQ+ candidates to the violent tragedy at Club Q in Colorado Spring we have been shown and cautioned about what to come. Sagittarius is associated with the new adventure and the new horizon. The first week of the season holds a powerful surge. It’s a great lift-off that gives us a glimpse into the near future as most of the transpersonal Planets change their signs in the next 3 years.

The concentration of the sign shift and Elemental change is significant as the outer Planets have long transits and do not change signs frequently. Their movements reflect great changes at both personal and societal levels. The biggest transformation comes with Pluto leaving the masculine sign Capricorn to enter the queer sign Aquarius on March 23, 2023.

Last week’s Planetary relationship expressed all manners of loveliness. This week, the three personal Planets—Venus, Mercury and Sun continue to receive blessings from Jupiter, the Planet of good fortune, as they transit through Sagittarius, the sign ruled by Jupiter. Their journeys reflect our capacity to rise above past limitations and embrace our higher selves.

Venus and Mercury survived the subterranean trail of Scorpio and entered Sagittarius’s light at the end of tunnel last week. The Sun is following them this week into the warmth of Mutable Fire Sagittarius, right before conjoining the Moon. Though the New Moon in Sagittarius looks dark to the physical eyes there is an expansive inner light that can be felt from within.

This week is the apex, or more accurately the pit, of the current Taurus-Scorpio Eclipse season. The day that the Lunar influence peaks is Tuesday, December 8, which happens to be the election day in the US. This reflects the global effect of the Lunar Nodes. The US politics affects the world politics. In two weeks time life will feel a bit lighter and more hopeful even if the information or the outcome of this week is not satisfactory. The data we gather this week will be crucial for how we need to move forward collectively and individually.

This week is a deepening of last week’s soul tending journey into the psychological shadow and the ancestral wounds. This eclipse season is the death phase of the year where emotional compost naturally occurs, unless we resist it. We’re supposed to feel uncomfortable, yucky and even awful. Taurus and Scorpio are about the elimination process. The Large Intestine Meridian is at peak function during the Taurus season and the Kidney Meridian, which eliminates wastes through fluids and emotions, is at peak function during the Scorpio season.

This week brings us the third of the four Taurus-Scorpio eclipse seasons within the two-year cycle which began on November 19, 2021 and will end on October 28, 2023. The current eclipse season begins this week with the New Moon in Scorpio on Tuesday, October 25. Here is the breakdown of this eclipse season which is the Shadow Work period that lasts about one month.

Welcome to the final week of the Libra month and the beginning of the Scorpio season! Ready or not we, in the northern hemisphere, are all descending to the underworld where darkness abound.
