322. Changing your gym's schedule
Hey guys, love the podcast! I am not sure if this was covered in a previous episode or not, but Could you guys share some of your experiences and/or best practices when changing up your gym’s class schedule? I’m debating to change my evening classes from 4:30pm, 5:45pm & 6:45pm to 4pm, 5pm & 6pm. Some days my 4:30pm & 5:45pm classes are maxed out (14 members in each) but the next day, we might only have 8 members in each class. My 6:45pm class is on the smaller side at 2-3 athletes. So I am not consistently full every single day, but I guess I am trying to plan for growth & having space for all member while also spreading out the members to that later class time to have better energy and maybe more attendance as well. I have lots of members that work rotating swing shifts and some weeks it feels that we don’t have enough space in classes and then the next week you wonder why you were so stressed out about it the week before! Just trying to paint a picture of what I am looking at. I have surveyed the members and I’d say 80% would be good with the change. I worry about losing a few members and I think that is my hold up. Anyways, thanks for considering and for any insights!

318. Coaching longevity and end game
My name is xxx I’m 24 years old, head coach at CrossFit xxx in xxx! I coach 15-20 classes a week and have 25 personal training sessions a week. I make just under 3k a month which isn’t bad but obviously it’s not good. My question is what does the end game of a full time CrossFit coach look like? How is there any retirement or even supporting a family by coaching CrossFit. As a head coach who enjoys coaching and helping others, how can I make this a career? If CrossFit as an organization could somehow take care of their full time coaches and gym owners with insurance and retirement plan it would be so much easier to keep coaches bought in for the long haul, and focus on being a professional coach instead of coaching as a hobby. I don’t know if you are familiar with the 4/9th model. But basically any PT or specialty course I do I only take in 44.4% of it. And the gym takes 55.6% of it. This never seems fair to me I would like to get your thoughts on it as well. And if it’s not fair how should I go about making it fair?

312. Greg Mack | Exercise Professional Education
As Founder and CEO of Exercise Professional Education, Greg’s vision for Physicians Fitness was shaped over 29 years ago, while he was working as a lay assistant to physicians in a sports medicine clinic. It was during this tenure that he became award of an  unfortunate reality: Most of the patients of the clinic were there as a result of poor physical conditioning. He observed that the patient base consisted of individuals who would return to the clinic for treatment of re-injury to a problem area, or the development of new symptoms, possibly due to compensation patterns created by the original pathophysiology. The medical and chiropractic staff encouraged these patients to participate in exercise and fitness programs, but had neither the time nor the resources to effectively assess, develop, and implement a safe, global health-fitness plan. Greg’s involvement in the fitness industry includes authoring articles for fitness and medical publications, presenting relevant topics to fitness professionals at continuing education conferences, and achieving the “Master Level” designation as a personal fitness professional from IDEA. Greg received the IDEA International Personal Trainer of the Year Award for the year 2003 and was the Chairman of the IDEA Personal Trainer Committee, an influential body steering important issues related to fitness professionals.
