Are you staying in touch and engaging consistently with college coaches?

With all the camps and all the different names of the camps, which one is the best for recruiting purposes? Let's talk about that on this week's 5MR episode.

I get asked this question a lot every year. There are two answers to this question. Give it a listen!

When they come to your court, what are they looking for? What are they watching for? Are they just standing around talking and flipping through social media on their phones? (No, but I know it looks like that sometimes, haha)

I have one way that I always suggest with athletes and families. But that doesn't mean that the other options are bad either.

It's a question I get all the time from parents and athletes, "Jason, should we go to this clinic...this showcase...this event...?" Everyone's recruiting journey is different and so tips and advice in general are good, but might not fit specifically what YOU need to be doing. Even if the advice is GOOD advice, it still might not be all the information you need to make the next step in your process.

Keep it simple - but it does take work!

If everyone is recruiting D1 athletes, then what does it mean to be D1 or be a D1 athlete?  I don't have an answer for this at the moment.  But I would like to open the discussion on this topic.  

With all the information out there on recruiting, it can often be hard to pick out the good from the bad.  Even the best intentions can lead to poor information.  Let's talk about a few recent run-ins that I had with potentially confusing and (for a lack of a better word) poor advice.  For more insight and advice in the recruiting process, please go to my website PRIVolleyball.com

It probably was just coincidence before, but new NCAA rules on camp have made attending camps even harder.  

May is a D1 quiet period.  It's important to talk a little bit about what these terms mean and how they impact you.

It can be hard to sift through all the camp invites and emails sometimes.  There are a few things that we can point to in regards to HOW interested a school is, even for those athletes prior to June 15th.  Post June 15th it can be a little easier to figure it out.  This is a complex topic, so I hit as many things as I could in 6 minutes :) Please feel free to reach out or check out PRIVolleyball.com blog page for more info.

This part is important.  UA is another tool.  One you will want to stay on top of.  

This is a question I get all the time from college coaches and it's something that I address regularly to parents and athletes.  Yes, you can answer this question, even as a Freshmen or Sophomore in high school.  

We can get stuck in a specific stage of the recruiting process.  Here are some tips on navigating through that if you feel like you're stuck.  

I get asked this questions a lot.  Every sport handles recruiting differently.  It's something to keep in mind.

Another great question.  I would argue that stats aren't quite as important as you might think...Neither are rankings.  

One of the more basic scholarship questions that is communicated incorrectly in the volleyball world.  

This is a question I get a lot.  The answer is the foundation and usually the cause of most of the exposure you will get.
