Ep 7 - Enrichment Experiences at Bryan

Today, in Episode 7, I sit down with Mrs. Meg Hatz, Alana, Mia, Mrs. Ann Dakins, Maggie, & Emelyn to discuss a few Enrichment Experiences at Bryan Middle School. In Mrs. Hatz's class, our middle school students learn to communicate using basic sign language (alphabet, numbers, emotions, nouns, and more). In Mrs. Dakin's "Spreading the JOY" class, students take the lead through the arts and community outreach programs. These are only two of the many opportunities students have to grow and enhance their own learning, as we allow our students to pursue their interests through selecting their own enrichment experiences in Elmhurst D205.

Today, I sit down with Mr. Jim Tang & a 6th grader, Emilie, to discuss our 2018 Veterans Day Assembly. Mr. Tang is our SS Department Chair and head of our Veterans Day committee. He explains all the planning & preparation that went into it. Also, he acknowledges all those involved that helped make our assembly happen. Later, Emilie shares with us what her role was, some of her poem, and her personal experience on that day. The entire BMS family was so happy to honor, spend time with, and thank those who have served our country.

In today's episode, I sit down with our Student Support Staff (SSS) and discuss what our Multi-Tier System of Support at Bryan (MTSS) looks like at Bryan and how we are supporting our students, so every student can be successful. My guests are Lynda Fuller, Maggie Pack, Ellen Dunn, and Zach Farber (SSS)
A big part of our conversation, we discuss what is Social Emotion Learning and the “umbrella of supports!” Also, we will be following up with MTSS and hearing from some of our students in a later episode.
