Leeland Mooring on the Act of Singing
If you feel that modern worship music is built on a shaky foundation of emotion rather than a solid one of biblical truth, you haven't listened to Leeland Mooring talk about worship. Knowing he began his music career at a such a young age, you'd be forgiven for expecting an immature philosophy, but you would be absolutely wrong. What started as a simple question about how his view of worship has changed over the course of his 16 year career, turned into a thesis about the Church and the spiritual act of singing to our Father. These songs are built on the Gospel and it's incredibly refreshing. My favorite interviews are the ones where I just get to listen. Jason and Daniel discuss selling off gear and getting your worship team to buy in.

Matt Redman on Bringing Jesus Back
Matt Redman is one of my favorite worship leaders for a lot of reasons, but one of them is that he always speaks truth to where we are now. Blessed Be Your Name was written in the wake of 9/11. The Heart of Worship at the height of worship music’s mainstream appeal. With Let There Be Wonder, he sings truth from a place of humility in a self-centered culture.  Jason asks Daniel about the rash of odd pictures he's been receiving from him and the guys discuss their favorite worship songs this year.

Sean Curran on Vulnerability
“There’s something about vulnerability that unlocks us as humans and makes us more like Jesus.” We weren’t sure what to expect from Sean Curran. Kristian Stanfill described him as a “Wild Stallion” and when I asked him what makes him so wild he responded “I guess I just scream a little more.” What unfolded next was one of my favorite discussions yet. A simple question about his worship leading history took up nearly the entire interview. Not because he is so full of himself, but because he isn’t. We discussed an intense season of his life that felt “kissed by God” and what it was like for that season to end. We talked about burning bright and fast and what it means to follow Christ and lead worship for the long haul. We discussed praying through song and what it’s like to take that gift out of the secret place and share it with the body of Christ.

Joy calls us to trust when we want to doubt Calls us to accept what we want to reject Calls us to celebrate when we want to fear Setlist: My Own No More / The Glory of Your Name / Proven In You   My Own No More I give my heart to You, trade all my lies for truth Nothing is withheld Give up my right to be king of my destiny O God I need Your help   I take my crown and lay it down All I am offered now I adopt Your name and I call You Lord I am my own no more   I give my days to You, take hold my evenings too Nothing is withheld Forsaking wrong for right, stepping from dark to light O God I need Your help   I give my dreams to You, things I hold tightly to O God I need Your help   The Glory Of Your Name   All Your ways are perfect and ours are surely not Still we try to walk in our own way But we are only human and You're Almighty God Help us Lord to lean upon Your grace   Take these hands, they are Yours to use Use them now to glorify Your name All we have only comes from You We will share the glory of Your name   Lord we long to give out but You're the one who has All who drink our water still will thirst But Your Holy Spirit poured out will quench the thirsty soul Satisfy the hunger, heal the hurt   Proven In You You make us on the mountain but teach us in the valley Inspire us at sunrise and strengthen when it sets Wherever You might take us we know You won't forsake us So we will trust You here   For You are greater than our greatest trial There is no obstacle You won't push through In every circumstance, through every battle Our faith is proven in You   So whether on the mountain or deep within the valley As long as You go with us in confidence we'll rest Our hope and our confession is the depth of Your redemption O Lord redeem us here   No matter what the test Your loving faithfulness will not fail You will not fail However fierce the pain Your promise is the same   All songs written by Jason Houtsma Reach out: Jason@worshipartistry.c

Advent Week 2 - Peace
Peace? In the midst of this? Setlist: I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day / Doxology I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day I heard the bells on Christmas day Their old familiar carols played And wild and sweet, the words repeat Of peace on earth, goodwill to men   I thought how as the day had come The belfries of all Christendom Had rolled along the unbroken song Of peace on earth, goodwill to men   And in despair I bowed my head There is no peace on earth, I said For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on earth, goodwill to men   Then pealed the bells more loud and deep "God is not dead nor doth He sleep" The wrong shall fail, the right prevail With peace on earth, goodwill to men   Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow Praise Him all creatures here below Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost Amen   I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day is an excerpt from the poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1863 and was set to a melody written in 1848 by John Baptiste Calkin.  Doxology was written by Thomas Ken in 1674 Reach out: Jason@worshipartistry.com

Advent Week 1 - Hope
Setlist: Still My Heart / Whatever Did You Mean, Jesus? / Emmanuel   Still My Heart Oh still my heart, I want to hear You Oh still my heart, I want to hear You Lead me to that sacred place Where all my distractions fade And Your voice rings clear   Waiting on You, waiting on You I'll keep waiting on You You are worth the wait   Whatever Did You Mean, Jesus? (Anonymous)   Whatever did you mean, Jesus? Whatever we ask in prayer, In faith, We will receive? I don’t think so. That hasn’t been My experience. Or is my faith so small As not to count Among your promises? You can be impatient, you know, Just ask the fig tree That you withered Because it was not ripe With fruit for you. Will you do the same To me? It is Advent, And I want to long for you, Not to hide from you. Besides, there is no place to hide, No place where you are not. That should be comfort. Even in Advent As we await your coming You are already here. I have faith in that. It would be nice If you answered all my prayers Like some Almighty Santa Claus, But I get it, You are the answer to all my prayers, Just not the answer I expected. That’s the trouble with expectations, Isn’t it, Jesus, That we sometimes miss the gift Because we are looking for Something else than you.     Emmanuel

Only Shadows
"As different as a real thing is from a shadow or as waking life is from a dream" Setlist: Shadows of You / All Creatures of our God and King / God Almighty Readings from "The Last Battle" by C.S. Lewis and "Devotions" by Mary Oliver Shadows of You The greatest of poets can try but can't describe the color green Not the moss on the trees nor the translucent leaves Less the spaces in between And while all this glory shines through It's just a shadow of You   All that Your hands fashion All that I can imagine Only shadows, their only shadows All that Your hands fashion All that I can imagine Only shadows, their only shadows of You   The greatest of liars can try but can't deny Your holy song In the laughter of children, the quiet of evening Your rhythm marches on And while all this glory shines through It's still a shadow of You   All Creatures of Our God and King All creatures of our God and King Lift up Your voice and with us sing O praise Him, Alleluia! Thou burning sun with golden beam Thou silver moon with softer gleam Oh praise Him, Oh praise Him Alleluia Alleluia  Alleluia   Thou rushing wind that art so strong Ye clouds that sail in heaven along O praise Him, Alleluia! Thou rising morn in praise rejoice Ye lights of evening find a voice Oh praise Him, Oh praise Him Alleluia Alleluia  Alleluia   Let all things their Creator bless And worship Him in humbleness O praise Him, Alleluia! Praise praise the Father praise the Son And praise the Spirit three in one Oh praise Him, Oh praise Him Alleluia Alleluia  Alleluia   God Almighty The angels bow to Your majesty The elders tremble, they fall to their knees Your throne room's filled with heaven's song And now we sing along   Holy Holy God almighty You were, You are, You always will be Holy Holy Almighty God   All nature stands a tribute to You Your brilliance found in each petal

Pilot - Tuning
If you have two guitars that are perfectly in tune and you pluck a string on one, that same string will resonate on the other. I want my heart to be so in tune with God's heart that mine resonates when His does. This podcast is an opportunity where God can tune our hearts to His. So wherever you are, take a moment and recognize God is here. Setlist: Speak Oh Lord / 'Tis So Sweet / Scars   Speak Oh Lord Lord, tune my heart to listen for You To know that still, small sound I'll let Your word shape my point of view I'm ready for now   Speak, oh Lord    Speak, Oh Lord I'm listening for Your voice It resonates with truth, love and grace Speak, speak Oh Lord   Whether in calm or midst of the storm I will hang onto You You are my strength, my hope, my reward I trust You'll see me through      Tis So Sweet Tis so sweet to trust You, Jesus Just to take You at Your word Just to rest upon Your promise Just to know "Thus saith the Lord"   Jesus, Jesus how I trust You How I've proved You o'er and o'er Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus Oh for grace to trust You more   Tis so sweet to trust You, Jesus Just to trust Your cleansing blood Just in simple faith to plunge me 'Neath the healing cleansing flood   I'm so glad I learned to trust You Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend And I know that You are with me Will be with me to the end   Scars There are scars on the hands that reach out to me And they reach me wherever I roam But they never reached further than on Calvary Where they reached out to welcome me hom   How I love those scars Every wretched mark hails the story of Your grace I remember Your scars so that I won't forget That my own have all be washed away   There are scars on the feet that chase after me And they find me wherever I run Though I'll never run further than old Calvary For it's there that my soul has been won   Praise and honor be to my worthy King Who gave everything my soul to save Every bruise and scar bor
