Bulloch County Probate Judge Lorna Deloach

Bulloch County Probate Judge Lorna Deloach

Probate. What the heck is it? I had that question and I think a lot of other people do, too. And it's one of those things that will go more smoothly when you have knowledge beforehand. Think about it, you're grieving the loss of a loved one and then you have to go to a court? Well, yes, and no. To get a better understanding of Probate Court and probating an estate, I reached out to Bulloch County Georgia Probate Judge Lorna Deloach. I first met The Judge a couple of months ago when she interviewed me for a job in her office. She ultimately went with someone that actually had experience. But she played a role in me landing a job in the Tax Commissioner's office, so we've kept in touch. She is an enjoyable person with whom to have a conversation. When she interviewed me, we talked for around 90 minutes. The Judge agreed to speak with me this week to help everyone with the basics of probating an estate. It's interesting to hear and she can tell you one piece of non-legal advice.

NOTE: Nothing Judge Deloach says on this episode should be taken as legal advice.

As always I thank you for listening!

The Head & The Heart with Jack Shaw

The Head & The Heart with Jack Shaw

Hi all! Welcome to another edition of The Jason Durden Show. This time around I speak with a man named Jack Shaw. Jack is a member of a band out of Atlanta, GA called The Head. The other members of the band are Jack's twin brother, Mike on vocals, and their longtime friend Jacob Morrell on guitar. Jack plays the drums. I've been a fan of their music for a while now after stumbling across them on Twitter. Jack and I discuss the band and how they formed. Also, you'll hear their latest single, "We Were". Another thing about Jack is that he always handled the booking for the band, securing venues and setting up tours. He saw a need and started a company called Goodmood and he worked with independent bands booking their gigs and tours. The business was going pretty well and then the pandemic hit. Live music was ended. That meant nobody needed booking. Well, Jack didn't let an opportunity go to waste and he transitioned his booking agency into a non-profit, The Goodmood Fund, to help the smaller indie bands that have struggled not only through the pandemic but other life crises. Take a listen...discover new music and hear how you can help out. As always I thank you for listening! Comments, questions, guest suggestions - 1-877-JDsShow. Talking TV with Critic Allison Keene

Talking TV with Critic Allison Keene

Are you always looking for something to watch on TV? I know I am. I've always been an avid TV watcher. These days your options are wide and varied when it comes to TV programming and content sources. Of course, regular broadcast TV is still around; but with so many streaming services and even the ones streaming live TV, have seriously changed the world of television.

This week I speak with Paste Magazine TV Editor and Critic, Allison Keene. I've followed Allison on Twitter for a few years now, so I knew she would be the one to speak with about everything TV. It is a fun conversation and I think you'll enjoy.

As always I thank you for listening!

Buyers vs Sellers

Buyers vs Sellers

We've all seen the stories of the crazy housing market right now. So many buyers, so few homes. I wanted to learn more about why this is and get some tips for potential home buyers. Buyers are facing stiff competition when it comes to buying a place because many houses have multiple offers.

I reached out a colleague, Paul Ciliano. Paul is a realtor in Las Vegas and was actually once my boss in the radio world. Paul has since moved on to the more lucrative field of real estate. Paul gives a good, easy explanation for the market right now and offers some great tips for home buyers.

Bees! with Jennifer Kimbrell

Bees! with Jennifer Kimbrell

I've been fascinated with bees for quite some time. Especially in recent yers when we heard a lot about the decline in bees. This week I speak with beekeeper Jennifer Kimbrell. Jennifer and her husband, Curtis, run Humble Bumble Bee Farm in Statesboro, GA. They sell their local honey around the area and send their bees on vacations sometimes. Jennifer will explain.

I learned a lot in this episode and hope you do, too!

Ransomware - An Expert Explains

Ransomware - An Expert Explains

We've heard a lot about ransomware attacks in the news as of late - the Colonial Pipeline attack and the JBS attack are just two that have made the news recently. I thought it would be good to reach out to an expert in cybersecurity to explain in simple terms what ransomware is and what it does to computer systems.

Jason Quader has been working in the IT and cybersecurity industry for 25 years. He knows his stuff when it comes to securing data. He also tells us how personal computers can be infected as well and how to safeguard your computer.

Steve Buckingham - Grammy Winning Music Producer

Steve Buckingham - Grammy Winning Music Producer

This week I am joined by legendary Grammy winning music producer Steve Buckingham. He's also a pretty good guitarist. Steve has been in the music business since the late 60's and has produced iconic artists like Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Melissa Manchester. He put both Mary Chapin Carpenter and Ricky Van Shelton on their paths to country music stardom. Also, the very first record Steve produced became a worldwide disco sensation, "I Love The Nightlife (Disco 'round)" by Alicia Bridges.

Steve tells behind the scenes stories of recording sessions and his recollections of recording in studios such as Bill Lowery's famed Studio One and Southern Tracks Recording Studios in Atlanta, and the legendary Muscle Shoals hit factories, Rick Hall's FAME Recording Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios.

The episode is a long one, but Steve has so much to tell and is so interesting to listen to that I couldn't just chop it all down. There are a couple of breaks that coincide with changes in Steve's career, so if you want to pause and go back later those will be good spots.

I hope you enjoy!

Tammy Cohen - The Queen of Screen

Tammy Cohen - The Queen of Screen

In this episode I speak with Tammy Cohen, CEO and Chief Visionary Officer at InfoMart in Marietta, GA. InfoMart is a leader in the field of pre-employment background screening. Tammy has an interesting story of overcoming obstacles to become one of the most respected women in business. I talk to Tammy about her background and also about background screening. With so many people going back into the workforce I thought it would be nice for people to have a better understanding of pre-employment background screenings. She also gives some tips for those who might not have a stellar background and some general tips for job seekers in this digital world.

Sit back and enjoy the converstation. And please remember to subscribe, rate, and review on your favorite podcast platform.

Ray Williams

Ray Williams

My first guest is a gentleman named Ray Williams. Ray has been in the music industry for over 5 decades and has had an incredible career. I met Ray a few years ago and have wanted to have a conversation with him ever since to hear his story.

If you saw the movie Rocketman, then you've seen part of Ray's story. Ray was the man who discovered Elton John and also the man who teamed Elton John up with his now longtime friend and lyricist Bernie Taupin. Together those two men have written and recorded some of the most classic songs of our time. Charlie Rowe played Ray in the movie.

Ray has also worked with other artists and in the film industry. Ray also runs a music licensing company, Crumbs Music.

So take a listen. I hope you enjoy the show! Please remember to subscribe, rate, and review! Check out my site for the latest Behind The Mic blog post.
