In this Pesties Profiles episode we chat to Mark and Tanya Glancy from D-Tec Pest Solutions based in South Brisbane. D-Tec is possibly the most awarded pest control business in Brisbane. So not only do we chat about what makes them so successful but also a unique aspect of their business, contract shooting. Contract shooting is an aspect of pest management that many of us would love to get involved in but don't know how or know how to get the opportunity. Mark gives us insight into what is required and what is involved in contract shooting particularly for pigeons. We also chat about Mark and Tanya's massive community work particularly their son Sam's charity foundation Kids4kids. This is definitely the podcast for anybody who loves shooting and wants to incorporate shooting contracts into their business.

This episode, we chat with Amanda Robin from Competitive Services. Not only is Amanda the Queensland General Manager for CPS, but she was also recently awarded the Office Employee of the Year at this year's WIPM Recognition Awards. With over 20 years under her belt in the pest industry, it's not hard to see why! Although Amanda's main role and passion is sales, she is also a qualified technician and loves getting on the tools. Amanda shares her secrets to sales, particularly "cold calling," and how to not only grow your database but also how to recruit and retain staff. Despite Jay recounting some of his goriest carcass removals and Nicky recounting the story of Jay doing the Full Monty, this podcast was actually a lot of fun! Nothing better than a bit of banter with our cousins from across the "dutch"!

In this episode, we chat with Stephanie Paddick from Jim's Termite and Pest Control. Stephanie was recently awarded the Leadership Award at this year's WIPM Recognition Awards, and it soon becomes apparent why!.

We discuss how Stephanie and her husband, Lynton, started in the industry and then became the regional franchisors, not only for South Australia but also for Sydney and country New South Wales. Stephanie then shares with us Lynton's battle with cancer and how she has soldiered on, not only as a mum but also as a mentor to her 35 franchisees.

In this Pestie Profiles episode, we have the pleasure of chatting with Justin Herbert, owner of Pestige Solutions based in Sydney, New South Wales. Pest control runs deep in Justin's blood, with his own son proudly representing the Herbert legacy as the fourth generation to to pick up the spray wand.

This episode we chat to Damian Herrington from Integrity Pest Control based in Mackay Central Queensland. Damian shares with us how he has used his own personal values to build a business that is currently doubling it's revenue each year. Damian carries the Integrity name with him through everything he does including speaking openly and honestly throughout this podcast. This episode is our third instalment of talking insecticides with Mark Linton from Renovo Technologies and this time we cover the final stage of an insecticide product- the tank mix. Whether it be in our petrol powered bulk tank, our battery operated knapsack sprayer or a pneumatic hand sprayer this is all about the solution or emulsion we have prepared in that tank. How to mix it, what to mix with it, the effects of different water types, the life expectancies of our tank mixes and even the potential effects on different surfaces. Eliza joins the Pestie Profiles Podcast family and gives us an insight into what it's like growing up in the pest management industry and what it's like managing a successful business for her family. This episode we chat to Trent and Tristen Chapman from Local Pest Experts servicing Mid North Coast NSW. Two born and bred pestie brothers that have taken over their parents Amalgamated branch and turned it into their own very successful brand. Trent and Tristen have focused on each of their strengths, to find that harmony where two brothers can successfully and productively run a very profitable business together. Trent with his obsession with financial data analysis and Tristen with his hard working"get it done" work ethic. For such a young age, these two are truly inspiring. And of course I can't help myself, by trying to stir up a bit of brotherly banter!

This episode we chat to Chris Mills who has recently been appointed operations manager at GC Pest Control. Many would know Chris from his previous roles within Bayer and Ensystex but what most don't know is that Chris has been in the pest management industry for more than 20 years. So we hear about Chris's early beginnings in pest management, his time with Ensystex and Bayer and now his role within GC Pest Control as operations manager and what motivated him to switch from working for a global entity to a local enterprise. If you want to know how to succeed in this business or any business for that matter surround yourself with the best in the business and what better way than recruiting someone that has had the liberty of doing that most of his career!

This episode we continue with our pesticide formulation talks with Mark Linton from Renovo Technologies and we talk exclusively about active ingredients. The different chemical groups, their different modes of actions, and chat about some of the different properties of some of the more common actives we use. We compare UV stability, alkalinity stabilty, solubility and all those factors that contribute to the effectiveness and residual nature of some of our favorite active constituents. This episode we chat to James Sutton from Termitrust Dubbo, NSW. Although being a pestie for some time, James has only bought into the Termitrust business fairly recently but being as driven as he is, has grown it rapidly. We get an insight into owning a Termitrust franchise and what pest management is like in the central NSW region.

This episode we chat to Jeff Futcher Branch Manager at Flick Port Macquarie. Jeff has been a pestie for more than 25 years but we hear how he was absorbed into the Flick brand from an acquisition 8 years ago and has loved his journey since. We hear about the opportunities and experiences this role has provided him, from growing the Darwin branch to his time as Branch manager in Mackay, and Northern NSW. We hear about his recruitment strategies, his team management strategies and the differences in pest management cultures within the various states he has worked.

This episode we chat to Mark Brown from Envirapest Perth Western Australia. A previous Pest Manager of the Year winner who along with his wife Rhiannon has built a successful pest management business which also includes a big percentage of weed control. We chat about the benefits of including weed control as one of your services, millipede control using traps and nematodes, spraying equipment and of course the pest management culture in WA. This is a business that has truly competed on service rather than price!

This week we chat to Daniel Joseph from Platinum Pest Control based in Launceston Tasmania. Daniel runs a very profitable pest business in a not so lucrative part of Australia. We hear how he maximizes his time as an owner operator by using a call center, survives the winter slump, markets his multiple business identities, his love of bees and we get an insight into pest management in Tasmania. This podcast is ideal for the single operator pestie that struggles to find that balance between a successful business and still have a life! It's been a long road but Daniel has just about nailed it and found that sweet spot!

This week we chat to Gavin Hutton from Pest Aid in Adelaide South Australia. Gavin is also the Australian distributor for Flowzone Knapsack sprayers. Gavin's original business EcoPest was one of the first significant business's acquired by Flick, so we talk about that and how he has also acquired several small pest business's to help bolster his current business Pest Aid. Definitely an episode for those looking at selling or buying another pest business!

To kick our 2nd season of interviews off we chat to Nick Peebles from Certified Home Inspections in Brisbane Queensland. Nick along with his wife, dad, mum and brother run a successful pest business with a focus on pre-purchase inspections along with some other unique services. We also chat to Nick about his time in Darwin and some of the feral animal control work that he does. Definitely a very cool episode, where we could have kept on going and still kept it super interesting!

To kick the new season off, Nicky and I have a recap of our 2021 season episodes. We chat about some of our favorite episodes, we look at the stats, discuss upcoming guests and we announce the results of the favorite manufacturer and favorite sales representative questions from our rapid fire questions. As usual plenty of laughs and a few hiccups to keep it real!
