In this final SOAP episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 31 with Angela Cook. This is Angelas' fourth appearance on the Say So with Jeanne show! She has been featured in episodes 28, 30, and 31 which released in November 2020 and was the most downloaded show of all the episodes on this show!

She discusses how she has been reading this verse for over 30 years and how this chapter should encourage women. She mentions how this chapter is a type cast of Jesus and hones in on verses 8 and 9 right out of the gate. She parallels this with Luke 4:18-19 and Isaiah 61:1. She points out that scripture has been fulfilled in Jesus and that we get the privilege in living in this time.

I point out that there's no mention of the beauty of this woman, only that she wore nice clothing. I comment that this woman would be naturally beautiful on the outside as her internal characteristics shine through- making her countenance strikingly beautiful.

We discuss that Jesus is the precursor of our lives and that God sent Him to set captives free and relieve oppression for all people. We agree that when people are spiritually set free by Jesus who is The Truth that makes us free, that they become capable of becoming all that God calls them to be.

Living in freedom is a lifestyle that God always intended for us, but worldly culture has historically oppressed all kinds of people since the fall of mankind. God sent Jesus to show us the error in our ways and thinking that one person is better than the other. That God shows no favoritism over His children. Jesus came to bind the prejudice, discrimination and oppression that the world uses to hold people back. When we realize this truth, we can be free from comparing and judging and rest in know that we belong to Jesus. We are His and He loves us right where we are at and we can do the same for others.

Angela provides you an opportunity to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior if you haven't already. What an honor!

My recording begins at minute 19:59. I joined SPARK Media with Misty Phillip earlier this year and attended the SPARK Media Conference in May 2021 at the National Religious Broadcaster Convention at the Gaylord in Texas.  I got the opportunity to meet with and brainstorm with like minded Podcasters. I also recorded many episodes while at that conference including Misty Phillip and Derral Eves the Executive Producer of The Chosen TV series.

In this episode I SOAPED John 1- Live ON AIR! I specifically chose this chapter as this episode is being released on Christmas Eve. Many people chose scripture about Jesus's birth in the manger, but not many have heard about the origin of Jesus. The origin was crucial for me to know.

Did you know that Jesus existed before He was born? Did you know that in the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God? Do you know Who the Word is? Did you also know that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us?

For many years in my early walk as a follower of Jesus I hadn't read this chapter and when I did read it I didn't understand it. It took years of study and being taught about the meaning of this chapter.

This chapter has been foundational for my faith because it revealed to me the truth about Jesus. I needed to know these truths because I had a lot of insecurity about my own salvation. If you are not saved or have your own questions about salvation, I hope this SOAP provides clarity for you. And that as you listen you learn more about Jesus, Who He is, How to accept Him, and who He accepts (spoiler alert- He accepts everyone).

EP 68- SOAP Luke 17 Attitude of Gratitude

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Luke 17 with my friend and author Amy Brandes. I have interviewed her before in episode 20 when she had released her book, 'On Purpose- A Journey to Loving Your Life'.

We read from the NLT bible and Amy observed in Luke 17:16-17 when Jesus healed 10 lepers and 1 thanked Jesus. She shares how God has been dealing with her on having an attitude of gratitude. She says our daily lives and relationships can be strong or weak based on what we focus on. We can choose to focus on what is going wrong or what is going well and our attitude will match where our focus is fixed. She encourages us not to be tempted by what the majority of people are doing- because the majority is not always right as seen in this scripture. She encourages us to look at other people in the best of light and in their childlike innocence. She says it is important to cultivate a grateful heart in order to avoid bitterness and unforgiveness. She recommends talking to others about what you are thankful for as well as serving others.

I chose verse 11-19 and 31-33 from the ESV bible. I love when my guest and I unknowingly pick the same verses! God was speaking to us about the very same thing! In my SOAP I mention that when God delivers us from something that He commands to us not look back to our old ways of living. That the only time to look back on our former ways is to thank Him, like the leper did after He healed him. We discuss how thankful we are for God pursuing our hearts as we were traveling the wide road that leads to destruction and how He placed us on His narrow path that leads to Life.

For December 3rd- I thought I'd re-post my THIRD ever podcast episode on the Say so with Jeanne podcast. My first episode was an introductory one where I discuss why and how I started this podcast. The second episode was an interview with Reverend Cal Pierce and his Healing Rooms Ministry. I had met him after he spoke at a local church and I asked him if I could interview him on my podcast and he said yes. We did the interview over the phone across the country.

Janna was literally the 2nd person I had interviewed on my podcast and the topic is overcoming suicidal thought. I guess you can say I have no issues diving into sensitive topics right out of the gate so to speak. And as mental health issues and the treatment of them are becoming more publicized, I thought I would give hope to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts by re-sharing this touching interview with my friend Janna Jarmin.

Janna graciously and candidly shares her mental health history and how by God's grace and the intervention of friends and family she is now living victoriously. She recalls times when her mental health was less than healthy and shares all the private details of her personal journey to restoration and freedom from unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.

I pray this episode helps reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health and provides guidance for someone in the midst of their own health crisis or perhaps a loved ones. Listen.Share.Share again.

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 26 with Celina Alderman. Celina is married to Pastor Marvin Alderman of East Coast Christian Center. She is also a mom and an artist. She didn't mention that she is an artist on this on the episode, but I had to share that because I have seen her work and it's beautiful.

Celina chose verses 4 and 5 in how to deal with fools. Then she goes onto define the true definition of what a fool is- in that they don't believe in God. Celina admits that bible study doesn't always come easy to her, but that doesn't stop her! Celina used the Enduring Word commentary to assist her in her SOAP bible study. She discusses the importance of understanding the original meanings and differences of root words. 

I chose verses 20-22 that discusses gossip and how its like adding kindling to a fire. I share what I do now to stop gossip before it starts. I mention how I remember when gossip was so normal and common in my life. These days I am all about preventing gossip by not feeding into it, not partaking in it in any way. Because when you don't feed something it dies. 

Celina talks about making her life count and not wasting time on gossip, but focusing on Jesus and helping others know Him. She discusses how she was once far from God and the foolish lifestyle she led while away from Him. She says God redeemed her from the destructive lifestyle and wants to help others do the same. She declares how Jesus' sacrifice wipes away all of our sins and doesn't leave out any sins or anybody!

We discuss the simplicity of believing and receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior for salvation for today and eternity, and how we complicate it with ignorance, disbelief, and doubt. We talk about the process of following Jesus- that while our spirit is instantly renewed at the time of acceptance, renewing our minds and walking out a lifestyle that honors God is a process.

Getting to know Jesus is like getting to know a person- spending time with them, talking to them etc.

Celina shares how following Jesus is not about following rules, but it is about being a part of God's family. We have the right to be in God's family by Him adopting us as His children. We have the right to be free from demonic thoughts and strongholds. We have the right and the power to do greater things than Jesus did on this earth. (Jesus said this in the Bible, John 14:12)

Jesus never argued with the enemy, He used the Word of God as His weapon to defeat him. He would say, "It is written" and, "Get behind me." when He spoke back to the enemy. If we don't know what is written- how would we know what our rights, authority and power in Jesus are? Knowing the Word of God and yielding it is our greatest defense!

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 5 with Sharon Migala. Sharon is a married homeschooling mother of three boys. She has authored two books and writes devotionals for her church. Together we SOAP Proverbs 12. She chose verse 4 as marriage is her hearts delight. She states that marriage is a lot of work and how we should chose to do things worthy of being a crown for our husbands.

She encourages us to address our issues with God and let Him transform us from the inside out which helps us relate to others, especially our spouse. She encourages us not to get offended easily, but rather come to the Lord in humility to allow Him to love us, which will help us love others. We discuss how putting others need above our owns actually feels better than putting ourselves first and getting our own way.

We discuss the importance of having fun and dreaming big dreams so long as we channel it with God and invite Him into the fun and the dreams. I discuss how I transcribed Proverbs 12 into a sort of 'pros and cons' list. One one side I wrote all the results of how a fool, thinks and acts and the other side I write the results of a how a wise person thinks and acts.

We discuss being ingrained in God's word is a process and there are many ways to get there. We discuss some ways are studying the Bible, praying, knowing and learning who we are in Christ, listening to worship music, audiobooks, and so much more. I pray that I would chose to live in the righteousness of Jesus Christ over my feelings. I pray that I would serve my spiritual sense over my physical ones.

After we stopped recording a few of us discussed how a crown represents protection, royalty, salvation and wisdom to the mind. There are many verse in the bible that discuss the significance of crowns, from Jesus's crucifixion, to God crowning the humble with victory, and more. This is a call to every woman- Straighten your crown and remember Whose daughter you are! :)

EP 63- SOAP Proverbs 5-Let's talk about SEX!

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 5 with My mom! Yes my mother!!! I asked her to be on the podcast, not even realizing this chapter is all about adultery! Oye vey! Well, at least we're having the talk. Better late than never right? This is the first time my mother, Suzanne has been on the podcast, but hopefully not the last. She did a great job. I am so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone and sharing her personal bible study on  a podcast! I hope this encourages more women to do the same!

My mom noted how this passage was written by King Solomon as a loving warning of staying away from adulterous women and enjoying the wife of his youth. King Solomon knew the damage that his father King David endured from his personal sin of adultery and was warning his son to stay pure to his wife and not to stray. My mom discusses the devastation that adultery causes in the lives of those that commit it and how Gods commands are to protect us.

I agree that God's commands are for our benefit. He is not holding out on us. His commands are in place to guide and bless us. Out of our love for Him, we obey them because we know His heart for us. We know His plans and thoughts for us are good, better than we can ever imagine. I also note that while an adulterer's mouth is as sharp as a two-edged sword, God's mouth is SHARPER than ANY two-edged sword! Hallelujah that we serve a God whose word and mouth triumph over the enemy!

EP 62- SOAP Proverbs 30-IDGAF (I do grace and faith)

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 30 with Leslie Brown. Leslie hails from "Champa", Florida aka Tampa. She has two children and has attended East Coast Christian Center for 5 years. She has been dubbed as the church's historian because she captures special moments at church on film. She is also credited for coming up with the title of this episode and the expression IDGAF (I do grace and faith).

Leslie discusses the concept of having "God-fidence" as opposed to confidence. She prepared one SOAP, but after re-reading the verse she shares an entirely new SOAP on the spot. This is not too unusual as God's word is living and every time we read scripture we can glean something new. Leslie shares how she is talkative and she must consult with God before she speaks. She identifies that she needs to commit her way to the Lord and not believe that she can jump in and fix things or say things without first bringing God into her situations.

I share how I appreciate Agur's humbleness and his willingness to admit that he is not the smartest person in the room, so to speak, yet he can appreciate God's mighty works and he prophesies about His son. Agur also states that God's word is true and that he is a refuge in Him. I cross reference Psalm 91 as that relates to this passage was well as far as God being a shield and a refuge. I also cross reference Col 3:3 which tells us that our lives are hidden with Christ in God.

I mention how we have a choice to be fearful or faithful. I share that I am on a trust journey with God and if I can trust God for my salvation that I should be able to trust Him with all the details of my life on earth.

Ep 61- SOAP Proverbs 22- Is obedience better than sacrifice?

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 22 with Autumn Marsh and Michelle Davies. Join us and learn what we gleaned by SOAP'ing together! You can SOAP on your own, but when two or more come together in God's word- divine revelation makes deeper connections with the ones you SOAP with.

Autumn observes that correction tends to be easier to accept in our younger years. I observe that the scripture is true that foolish thinking leads to suffering. I discuss all the foolishness I have done over my life and how God Himself has continually sent people to my rescue. Michelle goes deep and admits she has been wrestling with trusting God. I too admit the same. We are both convicted that we are being disobedient and we pray a prayer of repentance and thank God for forgiving us of our disobedience. Which Michelle then points out that all of our SOAP's combined takes us full circle back to where Autumn started with correction and discipline. God took the three of us on a journey with him in under 30 minutes! He is faithful! What He does for one He can and will do for all! Don't delay start SOAP'ing with us today!

EP 60- SOAP Proverbs 15-Humility before honor

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 15 with Michelle Davies aka "Gift". She discusses how much we take in by our physical senses and its not really what brings wisdom. The Holy Spirit reveals His wisdom through our spirit. She mentions how she allows the Holy Spirit to correct her when she is thinking negative thoughts about a situation. She confesses she tends to jump to conclusions, but then allows the Holy Spirit to rebuke her and she receives humblness and an accurate perspective. She says you can't have honor without humility. In order to have honor you have had to sacrifice. She observes how the world wants to change how we see things, but we gain true wisdom from the Holy Spirit. She asks is there such a thing such as righteous disrespect?

I discuss how the bible tells us that it's not what goes in the mouth that defiles us, but what come out of it. I incorrectly reference Matthew 18, but it is Matthew 15:16  “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

Ep 59- SOAP Proverbs 8- Wisdom is calling!

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 8 with Charlotte Lawrence. Charlotte observes that Wisdom, when sought can always be found. Wisdom is not hidden. Charlotte uses the blueletterbible.org to better understand some of the words in the scripture in their original form and intent, which helps her study more richly. She says she fears the Lord in the sense of worshiping Him and being in awe of Him. She observes that God Himself created Wisdom in the very beginning and how important it is to Him. She contrasts the consequences of choices we make when using Godly wisdom, vs emotional and/or worldly choices. She encourages us to seek God for His wisdom and journal and get quiet time to hear from the Lord and obey Him because He loves us.

Our SOAP actually synched with one another! This was a first in this SOAP series and I love when this happens! Even as Charlotte and I studied on our own, God gave us similar insight into His word, which only confirms His righteousness. I discussed verses 22, 23, and 30. I contrast God's eternal wisdom vs temporary worldly wisdom and which one bears more value. God doesn't want us chasing after world possessions, but fix our eyes on Him. I mention that this world is full of confusing and conflicting information, but God is not the author of confusion. We can trust His Word.

On this day in 2019, I decided to take a break from drinking "adult beverages". In celebration of this two year break, I am sharing this AF (alcohol free) interview that appeared on Annie Grace's This Naked Mind podcast.

On the podcast, bestselling author Annie Grace invites us to explore the role of alcohol in our lives and culture without rules, pain, or judgement. Annie and hundreds of others share their real, honest and open stories about the role of alcohol in their lives and how they found their freedom and regained control.

I was introduced to the podcast by my friend Jackie and since I have my own  interview style podcast I thought to myself, "Why don't I contact Annie so I can interview her?" I believed and still believe that Annie is a truth teller and she is helping set people 'captive to alcohol' free by speaking the truth about alcohol in a non-judgmental, matter-of-fact way. I had been listening to her podcast while trying to take a break from alcohol. I realized alcohol had taken too much center stage in my life and I was missing out on all that life had to offer me. 

When I contacted Annie Grace to be on my podcast I briefly shared my story of how listening to Annies podcast had helped me become AF. Annie's rep politely told me that my podcast was too new and instead asked me if I would like Annie to introduce me on her podcast.

I could handle the truth that my podcast was too new, but I was shocked when she asked me to appear on Annie's podcast. I could handle the 'rejection' of being told no, but I wasn't 'ready' to share my story. I mean it's my story! And my story includes me and people very close to me and I was not even thinking about sharing.  I NEVER intended to share my story on a highly recognized podcast with a highly recognized figure such as Annie Grace. With these kind of comments you should be able to identify where my heart was at. I was more concerned with how I would be perceived and what repercussions I might face over sharing my story that could have the opportunity to help set another person free. That my friends is what I like to consider a scoop of pride ice cream with sprinkles of hypocrisy on top! And unfortunately it doesn't taste good! 

Here I was hosting my own podcast where I interview people who have overcome their struggles and I hadn't even shared mine. I ask very personal questions and people answer very transparently. I was ok asking questions, but I was not comfortable being asked questions that allowed me to open up. This realization was first a shock and then a blessing.

I was indeed shocked. After I picked myself up off the floor. I thought about it. I consulted the Holy Spirit, I called a few close friends that knew my story and had been by my side. They encouraged me to tell my story. I said yes to the interview. So here it is. May it bless you.

In this episode I get the honor of SOAP'ing Proverbs 24 with my dear friend and wise counselor Emily Moore. Emily is married to Pastor Bryan Moore of East Coast Christian Center for 19 years. She is mom of 4, works at the church, plans community events, assists with missions, marriage mentoring, and plays on the worship team.

Emily observes in verse 3 about how to gain wisdom and knowledge and how that wisdom comes from God and wise counsel. She observes to surround ourselves with both wise counselors and staying in God's word to help her in her home, with ministry, and beyond. She discusses the wise counsel she relies on for her life decisions. we discuss the benefit of getting "Wordly"  vs "worldly" advice.

She also observes in verses 15-17 regarding the wicked vs the righteous and how God handles them both and how God says we are to handle the wicked as well.

I observe in verse 10-11 where we are to not faint in adversity and aren't we in much adversity lately?  I reveal a verse that tells us exactly what to do in order not to faint. I talk about how I once 'tottered to the slaughter' by claiming to be agnostic. By the grace of God I have been saved and redeemed, not by my own works, but by faith alone.

Ep 50-How to make God's love visible with Rita El-Mounayer

In this episode I get the honor of speaking with Rita El-Mounayer. Rita serves as the CEO of SAT-7 Christian TV which supports a growing Church in the Middle East and North Africa. She accounts testimonies of people being touched by SAT-7 who may have never heard off Jesus. Rita shares that it is our human right to share the love of Jesus, but it's the Holy Spirit's job to convert the human heart. 

Born in Lebanon, Rita lost her mom during the war in Lebanon at only 7 years old. Fearing she would also lose her father who was a soldier in the war. As a child she lived in a bunker, saw people killed in front of her, but notes that her story is not unique. She says growing up in this environment and surviving it enables her to relate to many of the people that SAT-7 reaches.

Rita began her media career as a radio host and producer with Far Eastern Broadcasting Associates radio in 1992. She joined SAT-7 in 1995, before it had broadcast a single program. When the channel launched, Rita hosted its first program, Ears of Wheat (in Arabic, Asanabel). This program ran for 12 years and became one of the channel's most successful programs.

Initially serving as host and producer, Rita's role soon expanded to programming director for all children's programs on SAT-7. In 2004, she also became programming director for all of the Arabic programs at SAT-7. Then, with the launch of SAT-7 KIDS in 2007, her dream of launching the first independent, Arabic Christian channel for children became a reality. In 2008, Rita was named executive director for SAT-7 ARABIC and SAT-7 KIDS.

In 2016, SAT-7 positioned for greater growth and impact with structural changes and key leaders taking on more responsibilities. At this time, Rita El-Mounayer began to serve in the newly created position, Chief Channels and Communications Officer (CCO), overseeing three Arabic channels, one Persian/Farsi channel, and one Turkish channel – with a total of more than 150 staff and freelancers, distributed across studios in Lebanon, Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey and the UK.

On April 1, 2019,  SAT-7 appointed Rita as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Rita says, “My prayer is that during my lifetime and time of service as CEO of SAT-7, we will see millions of viewers sharing their testimony as to how God’s message changed their lives, and we will rejoice together that we made a difference.”

Rita also plays a key role in mentoring new TV producers and continues to host two programs -- Bedtime Stories, a children's program, and My Story, a live talk show.

Born in Lebanon, Rita lived through the violence of the Lebanese Civil War as a young girl. During that time, she and her sister found refuge from the horrors going on around them in television cartoons. She hoped someday to become involved in media to bring joy to children -- just as cartoons had done for her -- while broadcasting hope in Christ.

Rita first served SAT-7 in Lebanon, and since 2005, she has served SAT-7 in Cyprus. Rita holds an M.A. in Communications from Cardiff University, Wales.

In this special episode I get the pleasure of speaking with media executive, producer/actress, writer, and global speaker, Kathleen Cooke. Kathleen is a founding partner at Cooke Media Group, (CookeMediaGroup.com) where she oversees casting and is a creative director for all major projects. Kathleen also leads and inspires women involved in media and entertainment through her nonprofit, The Influence Lab (influencelab.com) and Influence Lab Women focused on redefining Christian media strategies in the digital age.

Then challenges us to find creative ways to use the talents He has given us to fix what we hate. Kathleen encourages us to step out into the calling God has for us and to go! We serve the God who sees. God sees you- now go!

Ep 47- How to pass your faith onto the next generation- with Author JoAnn Vicknair

In this episode I get the privilege of interviewing JoAnn Vicknair. JoAnn is a Grandmother who loves “bragging on God.” In her first book entitled  It’s Storytime, Memaw! She share her legacy of faith, and compels young readers to draw near to God.

One of the gifts of getting older is to know how good God is, having had experience of how we can rely on him to carry us through joys as well as dark days. As a grandparent, debut author JoAnn Vicknair so longed to give that gift to two of her young grandchildren that she began to tell them stories about what God has done.

That started her on the journey that became It’s Storytime, Memaw!, a book of short stories recently released for children ages 4-14 that compels them to draw closer to God. And gives her a powerful testimony of the journey – she calls it “bragging on God.” Saying she’s not a writer, Vicknair, a retired nurse, did have a passion to share with all her grandchildren the faith that sustains her.

Intensely praying, she asked God to tell her His story she could share because the children “needed God in their lives.” She says she never expected the answer to that prayer would become a published book.

“I am not creative, and really never thought to write anything, but I did have family stories of faith and answered prayer,” Vicknair explains. “My grandchildren loved hearing the stories, and continued to ask for more, saying, ‘It’s story time, Memaw!’ How could I say no to that?”

How to seek  and find Jesus Misty Phillip

While at the National Religious Broadcaster Convention in Dallas, I got to spend a few minutes with Misty Phillip a former career girl turned Podcast Host, author, speaker and founder of SparkMedia.Ventures that serves as a hub of resources for Christian podcasters.

Misty is passionate about encouraging people to spark their soul messages. She hosts a monthly Christian Mastermind meetup for authors, speakers, podcasters, and entrepreneurs and currently serves as the Houston Connection Director for Christian Women in Media.

God called her out of her corporate job at Enron in 1999 to devote herself fulltime to being a wife and mom. As her children grew she felt God’s call to write, blog, and speak in preparation for the next season of life after homeschooling. Writing and Speaking lead to podcasting. When she began seeing the impact her podcast was having all over the world, the Lord gave her a vision to gather together a bunch of Christians passionate about podcasting for the very first Christian Podcast Conference. She hosted the inaugural Spark Christian Podcast Conference in February 2020.

Listen as Misty discusses her journey of leaving her corporate career and the steps of obedience she took when God asked her to homeschool her children and then when He asked her to write, speak, teach and to start a podcast of her own.

Misty mentions one of the best ways to seek out Jesus is by seeking out His word! Misty believes we are better together and recommends we find encouragement from other believers by getting and staying connected at a local church.

As a new believer twenty-some-odd years ago, I personally struggled with this idea of getting connected at a local church. I thought I could do it all on my own and I didn’t want to meet new people or go to church. Unfortunately, it took a tragedy in my life to get me to step into church doors, don’t let it be the same for you! Becoming mature in our faith is fostered by fellowshipping with other people. Because of the friendships I have found in faith- God has delivered me from many of life’s struggles through the nurturing support of believing friends.  Worldly friends will give you worldly advice- but my friends in faith have helped me rely on Gods Truth while enduring painful circumstances. Never underestimate the power of scripture and prayer!

While at the National Religious Broadcaster Convention in Dallas, TX  I got to spend a few minutes with the delightful Dr. Paula Price.

In this episode Soulologist Dr. Paula Price describes the various types of relationships and how to reconcile them. She reminds us that marriage is actually not a relationship! She defines it as God does – do you remember what He says about marriage? She discusses how people with wounded and broken souls wreak havoc on all kinds of relationships, acquaintances, points of contacts and service providers simply based on the brokenness of their souls! She says the secret to our success is within our souls! Which leads one to wonder how does a soul become more successful? Well it isn’t with more money, more religion, more rules, but rather going to the source of our soul creator!

Dr. Paula Price is a speaker, author, talk show host, inventor, educator, executive coach, and minister known for empowering her audiences to “think differently and live powerfully. Dr. Price currently manages her own consulting firm and assessment company, is the author of over 50 books and manuals, including The Prophet’s Dictionary, serves as the president of Price University, the host of her own television program, Taking IT on with Paula Price and oversees The Congregation of the Mighty in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Price has a D.Min. and a Ph.D. in Religious Education from Word of Truth Seminary in Alabama. In the episode I got the honor of talking with New York Times best selling author and leader of Wild at Heart Ministries Stasi Eldredge.  Stasi shares her salvation story, how her and her husband John met and when she fell in love with Jesus!

She spent her childhood years in Prairie Village, Kansas, for which she is truly grateful.  Her family moved to southern California back in the really bad smog days when she was ten.  She loved theater and acting and took a partiality to her now-husband, John, when they were friends in high school. Stasi earned her bachelor's degree in Sociology from San Diego State University, which she attended primarily because it was close to the beach.  She became a Christian her junior year in college and dove into the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.  After graduating, Stasi joined Youth for Christ, heading up a ministry to pregnant teenagers and teen mothers.  She has been active in ministry ever since, including theater ministry, crisis pregnancy center ministry, women’s ministry, and children’s ministry. The Eldredge family moved to Colorado in 1991.

Scripture: The S stands for Scripture- you physically write out the scripture

Observation: The O stands for observation- what do you see in the verses that you’re reading? What stands out to you?

Application: The A stands for Application- this is when God’s Word becomes personal. What is God saying to me? How can I apply what I just read to my own personal life? What changes do I need to make? Is there an action that I need to take?

Prayer: P stands for Prayer. Pray God’s Word back to Him. If He has revealed something to you during this time in His Word, pray about it. If you need to confess and repent- this is a great opportunity.

In this episode I get to chat with writer, musician, and artist Laurie Klein, who wrote the praise chorus, “I love you Lord and I lift my voice.” Laurie shares the where, when, and how the song first came into being. She describes it as a time when she had nothing to offer and how God gave her the song in a moment of despair. She says God took His song and blew it like a kiss across the world to those who needed it. She also recounts the many times in her life when God has reminded her that she is God’s expression of love. And that all people are His expression of love. In this episode we discuss the roots of codependency and how it affects your true God-given identity. My guest is Leah Cettina who didn’t even know she was thinking and acting codependently until she joined a Celebrate Recovery program.

Leah shares when and how she discovered she was using codependency to identify with herself and others. She shares her own journey of how codependency shaped her behavior within her relationships as she sought acceptance from people more than the acceptance of God. You can be set free from acceptance-seeking behaviors when you know that God accepts you just the way you are. After all, He created you to be like Him.

When we know who we are in Christ we can see ourselves for who we truly are (made in His image). We can be set free from adopting and utilizing negative behaviors like codependency. The only One we should be dependent upon is our Saviour.
