Lewis J. Stadlen of HELLO, DOLLY! National Tour
Coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from May 21st-26th is the national tour of Broadway's classic musical comedy, HELLO, DOLLY! starring the legendary Tony Award winner Betty Buckley. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing actor Lewis J. Stadlen, who stars opposite Betty as the wealthy half-a-millionaire Horace Vandergelder. Lewis J. Stadlen is the recipient of the Irish Times Award for his performance in Arthur Miller’s THE PRICE at Dublin’s Gate Theatre. Eric Woodall of North Carolina Theatre
Eric Woodall has a long history with North Carolina Theatre; as an actor, teacher, and director. As a high school student, he performed in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and GEORGE M! at NC Theatre. After successful years on stage and television, Eric returned to NC Theatre in the late 90’s to direct and help cultivate the existing Summer Theatre Arts School program into the NC Theatre Conservatory. For the past 16 years, Eric worked as one of New York’s top casting directors in the office of Tara Rubin Casting. Through casting and developing new musicals, Eric has been lucky enough to work alongside Stephen Sondheim, Cameron Mackintosh, William Finn, Sir Richard Eyre, Stephen Daldry, Susan Stroman, Stephen Schwartz, Casey Nicholaw, James Lapine, Phyllida Lloyd, and Hal Prince. A few of his Broadway casting credits include SUNSET BOULEVARD, ALADDIN, FALSETTOS, LES MISÉRABLES, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, BILLY ELLIOT, MARY POPPINS, THE LITTLE MERMAID, and MAMMA MIA! (Broadway, National tour). Past NC Theatre directorial credits include MAMMA MIA!, GYPSY, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, MARY POPPINS, BILLY ELLIOT, DRIVING MISS DAISY, and STEEL MAGNOLIAS. Other directing credits include NEXT TO NORMAL, WEST SIDE STORY, BIG RIVER, ON GOLDEN POND (Casa Manana); BIG FISH, THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, PARADE, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, and VIOLET (Theatre Raleigh); AMADEUS (Memphis’ Playhouse on the Square), and HAY FEVER (Playmakers Repertory). As a guest lecturer, Eric has taught at universities and training programs around the country including NYU, Baldwin Wallace, and Elon. Internationally, Eric was invited to lead workshops in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia through Actors Equity of Australia. Last year, American Theatre named Eric one of the "People You Should Watch" in its “Role Call: Six Theatre Workers You Should Know” series. Eric is a drama graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and is a member of SDC and CSA. Joy Franz of ANASTASIA National Tour
Coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from April 16th-21st is the national touring production of ANASTASIA. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing actress Joy Franz, who is currently appearing in it as the Dowager Empress. A role that in the 1997 animated film was voiced by Angela Lansbury and on Broadway was originated by two-time Tony nominee Mary Beth Peil. Joy's previous credits include Broadway productions of LES LIAISONS DANGEROUS, INTO THE WOODS (Original, Revival, PBS), A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, COMPANY, PIPPIN, MUSICAL CHAIRS, OPEN ADMISSIONS, SWEET CHARITY, and LYSISTRATA. Off-Broadway, she was seen in THE THREE PENNY OPERA (Drama Desk Nomination), GOD OF VENGEANCE, MRS. WARREN'S PROFESSION, AVOW, FAIR GAME, BRUTALITY OF FACT, BITTER TEARS, ASSASSINS, ALL MY SONS, TOM FOOLERY, JACQUES BREL, I CAN’T KEEP RUNNING IN PLACE, HOUSE OF BERNARDA ALBA, BLOOD WEDDING. John Rubinstein of PIPPIN
In 1972, John Rubinstein made his Broadway debut as the title character in the original Bob Fosse production of PIPPIN. Since then, he won a Tony Award in 1980 for his performance as James Leeds in the original production of Mark Medoff's CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD. Rubinstein has also been seen on the Great White Way in FOOLS, THE CAINE MUTINY COURT-MARTIAL, HURLYBURLY, M. BUTTERFLY, LOVE LETTERS, GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER, RAGTIME, and CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. In 2014, he returned to the world of PIPPIN when he took over for Terrence Mann as Charlemagne in Diane Paulus' Tony Award-winning revival before heading with it on the road. This interview was recorded back in March of 2015 as the national tour was making its way to Durham, North Carolina. Joshua Grosso of LES MISÉRABLES National Tour
Joshua Grosso's previous credits include IN THE HEIGHTS (Usnavi) with PCLO and THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA (Fabrizio) with Front Porch Theatricals. He was the winner of the 2012 Jimmy Awards and is a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a BFA. He can currently be seen as Marius in the national tour of LES MISÉRABLES. This interview was recorded back in January of 2018.

David Ferguson of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF National Tour
David Ferguson's regional credits include Society Max in GUYS & DOLLS at the Argyle Theatre in Babylon, New York. He's also performed at various dance companies such as Brian Brooks Moving Company, Helen Simoneau Danse, and Abarukas. David also has a BFA from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He can currently be seen as a swing and dance captain in the national tour of the 2016 Tony nominated revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. This interview was recorded in January of 2019.

Karen Mason of LOVE NEVER DIES National Tour
Karen Mason has starred on Broadway, Off-Broadway, television, and recording: and "has few peers when it comes to ripping the roof off with her amazing voice that knows no bounds!" (TheatreScene.net) Karen is a 12-time MAC Award winner and has won the MAC Award for Major Female Vocalist of the Year for six consecutive years. She has also won the 2006 Nightlife Award for Major Female Vocalist and has three Bistro Awards. This interview was recorded back in September of 2017 when she was starting out on the road as Madame Giry in the national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES.

Eva Tavares of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA National Tour
Eva Tavares is a graduate of the UBC Opera Program and the Banff/Citadel Theatre Professional Training Program. Her previous credits include: Maria in WEST SIDE STORY, Anne in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and most recently, the world premiere SOUSATZKA starring Victoria Clark. Eva is also active in the dance community, most recently choreographing DIE FLEDERMAUS for Vancouver Opera. This interview was recorded back in February of 2018 when the national tour of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA was making its way to Durham, North Carolina.
