Feeling Circle

By Jen Lee

I'm Jen Lee, an average Korean American trying to live my best life. In that pursuit, I realized that there's no destination that will fulfill all dreams. It's truly about the journey and the loved-ones we can experience life with.
I'm hoping this podcast could elevate unheard stories that bring connection, healing, and growth. I invite all emotions and feelings, especially courage and vulnerability. Get ready to fill your cup with less K-dramas and more real stories!

Reflection Part II: Resentment, Anxiety-mindsets, Inflection Points, and Becoming

Last episode of this season!! Mitou and I use this episode to dive deeper into boundaries and resentment and how they show up in our lives. We also talk about lessons we've taken away from this year including developing new skills like creativity, curiosity, identifying inflection points, and having faith in our abilities to overcome and become.

Bye 2022, thank you for all that you've taught us and may we be present and resilient for all that's ahead. Cheers!

Reflection Part I: Uncertainty, Boundaries, Brokenness, and PTSD

Reflection Part I: Uncertainty, Boundaries, Brokenness, and PTSD

This episode is a bit different than the others in that Mitou Nguyen and I interview each other as we reflect on this past year. We start the conversation with how we started this year 2022. Mitou shares his journey with uncertainty and the stress/anxiety that prefaces big life milestones like buying a home and wedding. I share my most vulnerable moments of this year and the feeling of brokenness and hitting rock bottom.

Trigger warning: I do share my lowest of moments including when I was diagnosed with PTSD and the experience that follows.

I really enjoyed this podcast because of how we pursued the objective truth with where we were at the beginning of year and the growth we've seen since.

Burnout

Burnout

In this episode, Akina T. and I talk about the great resignation and share some examples of how burnout presents itself. We talk about the effects of imposter syndrome, perfectionism, self criticism, and indifference. In response to these topics, we lean into the transformational power of agency and pursuing what we love.

Married to medicine

Married to medicine

Allie N. and I dive into the journey from dating to getting married. We talk about how and when she knew her husband, Jared was the one and what it's taken them to have the strong partnership that they have. Especially with her husband as a surgical resident physician (with long and inflexible hours), we talk about tactics for a healthy relationship.
I really appreciate this conversation because we talk about false narratives that show up in our lives and the impact it has made. We talk about anger, resentment, and sadness but also the joy and gratitude we feel towards our partners that show up for us.

Asian creatives + Debuting on Broadway with KPOP

Asian creatives + Debuting on Broadway with KPOP

Joshua Lee is none other than my baby brother. Josh was always the highest of achievers from his science competitions to his dance competitions. When he graduated from Harvard with a computer science degree, we all thought he was set for a stable career until he decided to pursue acting and entertainment. It’s been a period of instability and uncertainty. In this conversation, we dive deep into the hardships but also the wins as he celebrates debuting on Broadway this past weekend with KPOP.

Embracing emotions with therapy

Embracing emotions with therapy

In this episode, we continue to explore emotional journeys but with a focus on therapy. We kick off the conversation by learning more about Adrienne L. and some of the external pressures she faced as the eldest of her siblings growing up in an immigrant family. We share some of our deepest insecurities and how tools and frameworks from therapy significantly impacted our lives. We go into the power of vulnerability and how it can deepen friendships.

Growing up in the church and unpacking both the good and the bad

Growing up in the church and unpacking both the good and the bad

Raquel H. and I grew up together since we were in third grade. We both clung onto Christianity as a core part of our identity. As we gotten older, we talk about the shift from a black and white mentality to seeing the nuances and humanness. We talk about the crucial role church has played by being a source of healing and shelter but also its role in perpetuating toxic messages like elitism, patriarchy, and fear-driven guilt and shame.
