Ep. 9 Why Transladies are Ladies.
November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day where we take the time to honor the trans people who have lost their lives in the fight for justice, for simply being trans. Stigmatization and fear is used to justify violence, and this is something that cannot be ignored in our communities. We would like to dedicate this episode to Brooklyn Deshauna Smith, a 20 y/o trans woman who was shot and killed in Shreveport last month. To her family and friends, we offer our deepest condolences. Shreveport close to all of us involved in this podcast, so her loss hits close to home. Today, we are joined by Yngrid, who will be discussing her experiences as a transwoman with us, as well.

Ep. 8 The Red Flags of Abuse
Welcome back to Because I’m a Lady That’s Why, a podcast about responding to anti-femme issues in a ladylike fashion.
In today’s episode, I would like to discuss the red flags that indicate an abuser in relationships. No two relationships are the same, but there are patterns that appear in abusive relationships. It can take years and years to see abuse for what it is.
This was a difficult episode to record. It was emotional, but it is imperative that those who recognize that they are being abused seek help. Here are some valuable resources:

Ep. 7 Why Free the Nipples?
Today’s episode is about breastfeeding in public and the free the nipple movement! This is part 3 in a series about modesty culture and women’s health. Please excuse the delayed release of this episode. Work and distractions have been abundant recently. Thank you for continuing to listen because I am excited to tell you all about the history of the movement, the facts about the law, and to introduce our special guest today! My dear friend Jessica joined me to share her experience as a breastfeeding mother.

Ep. 6 Why Promote Breast Cancer Awareness?
I will be discussing the importance of breast cancer awareness. This is part two in a series discussing modesty culture and women’s health. Breast cancer is the second biggest killer of women (second to lung cancer). Early detection and awareness are the best defense, but many young women are ignoring the steps they should take to monitor their own health. My guest today is Amanda Tamaccio, a talented, little bombshell of a lady who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. In a year’s time, her whole life has changed. I asked to interview her in today’s episode so that listeners may hear about how important breast cancer awareness is from someone who knows better than I.

Ep. 5 Why Cover It Up?
This episode is Part one in a series that exploring of the culture of modesty and how it affects women’s health! We shouldn’t be ashamed/scared/bullied into covering up our bodies! We have liberties that should be protected. So when I say, “cover it up” here, I’m not just talking about covering up the parts of the body, the skin. I am also talking about covering up issues that are important. What do you say? Shall we expose them?
October Series in 3 Parts: Modesty Vs. Women's Health
As the spooky season Falls upon us, I will be doing a three-part series on how embarrassment and shame should be tossed OUT the window when it gets in the way of your health and wellness. Breast is not a dirty word. You should not shy away from taking care of your body or your safety for the sake of modesty.
Pt. 1 Modesty Culture and Rape Culture (Thursday, October 15th!)
Pt.2 Breast Cancer Awareness w/ Special Guest Amanda Tomaccio
Pt. 3 Breastfeeding in Public and the Free the Nipple Movement

Ep. 4 Why Bear the Mental Load?
Ladies tend to bear the Mental load known as the “worry work” when it comes to household management. This accounts for stress gaps between men and women, work-family conflicts, and conflict between partners. In this episode, Jen and Sav discuss how the inequity of the mental burden in the home affects women and examine the actions that men and women could take to promote equity in the home.
Because She's a Lady: Ruth Bader Ginsburg
This week will be the first in our series of monthly installments entitled, "Because She's a Lady" in which we will honor on of our she-roes. This month, we are going to be discussing the incredible life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg! The world is mourning the loss of this iconic figure in the legal world...but who was she as a person? What motivated and inspired her, and what lessons can we learn from her?
Ep. 2 Why should I be small?
So why is it that women have such anxiety over controlling and changing the shape of our bodies?
In this episode we discuss the shifting ideal body types in history and address the dangerous and lingering effects they have on our culture.
The ladylike thing to do? Push back against the idea of a single, idealized, beautiful body type. Foster body positivity and embrace diversity. Recover from the disordered eating habits and anxiety that might have become a normal part of your life. You have to love your body as it is in order to care for it in the way that brings about healthy change. You deserve to take up space and to grow and to be anything but “small”.
Content Warning:
The content and discussion in this episode will necessarily engage with eating disorders, self harm, and body hatred. Although the end-goal of this podcast is to create a safe space and to push back against negative issues with positivity, this episode includes potentially emotionally challenging or triggering content.

Ep.1 Why Get Paid Less Just to Pay More?
On today's inaugural episode, we’ll be looking at a topic that affects all women: Finances. We’ll be discussing the Pink Tax, The Wage gap, and the way society pushes for women to consume more while making less. Why do we fall for the trends and marketing ploys so often, and what is a classy response to this unladylike pressure to buy more while earning less?
