Back from the summer off, The Jerks check in with each other and ask, "What are you watching right now?.... and how?" In a time where our viewing habits, as a society, are changing, we try to identify some emerging trends and explore where we find ourselves amongst them.

Phil and Tim discuss movies depicting mankind's struggle to weather harrowing situations provided by the natural world (outside human influence). The Jerks also touch on some personal experiences they, themselves, have had in the wilderness and the different obstacles they have faced when traversing the wild. For all you mega fans, there's some bonus content after the exit music!

Does it throw you off when a story's core character is re-casted with a different actor for the sequel? Us too! The Jerks explore their feelings around the re-casting of 'sequel substitutes' and replacements. Some replacements completely remove us from the experience, some are acknowledged and explained in the story (which we like) and others we've come to accept as a part of franchised film culture.

In this Father's Day special, The Jerks take the time to recognize the low bar set by many of the "Bad Dads" portrayed in film and TV! 

No Strings Attached in this episode... things get dicey when Tim wants to discuss the "Boy Band Craze" that he and Phil grew up around when they run into a road block... they can't agree on what the term "Boy Band" actually means! The Jerks present their passionate perspectives on what a Boy Band is to them and explore the roots and rolls they have in pop culture. We reflect on the days of *NSYNC vs. Backstreet Boys and of course talk all time Boy Band Bangers!

SPORTS! Phil's area of expertise and loyalties are put to the test when asked to choose between the "all-time greats" in sports. Tune in to see if Tim can get Phil to break a bias!

Phil has Tim in the hot seat! In this episode The Jerks play "Over/Under", a game where Phil gives Tim a number (higher or lower than the actual) referring to a Hollywood stat and Tim has to make an informed decision to answer Over or Under the number Phil's provided! Play along with us and let us know how you did!

In this episode, The Jerks compare heavily stacked movie casts and "weigh" the celebrity pull from each group to determine which cast collectively has more pull in Hollywood. We use a 5 to 9 structure, with the first round of the game comparing movies with 5 major actors, the next round, movies with 6 major actors, 7 actors, 8, 9... you get the idea! From there the boys discuss over-stacked casts and whether stacking a cast is solely a sell out move.

Our Valentine's Special is a hot one! The Jerks get together to discuss their biggest "Man-Crushes" as we establish a "type" for each of us. Tune in to hear which Hollywood Hunks, we Jerks, admire!

As brothers, The Jerks have special insight into the depictions of brotherhoods on screen! The Daley boys talk their favorite on-screen brothers and give awards to the funniest, shittiest, most relatable, toughest, and best/worst casted brothers!

If you were a kid in the 90's, Friday and Saturday nights were often occupied by two TV "blocks," ABC's "TGIF" and Nickelodeon's "SNICK"! The Jerks talk all the classic shows, break down the different show lineups from year to year, and discuss specific memories and feelings of excitement that went into weekend TV in the 90's!

Ever get excited for a second or third season of your favorite show only to find out that it's production was never renewed? Same. In this episode The Jerks talk their favorite shows that they wish would have continued and possibly deserve a reboot! 

In this episode, Phil puts Tim's associative memory to the test with a "Name Game" and asks whether, when watching something, we look at character's with our own names differently simply because of the relative association. We cover the "Top 10 Tim's" and who of them our Tim identifies with!

In this episode The Jerks lay out criteria that contribute to an unwatchable movie. From heavy CGI to ruined re-makes and formulaic saturation, listen in to hear us discuss the elements that make something unwatchable! 

For those of you whom are still hanging on to your pumpkins and watching scary movies, Phil presents some scary stories as told by Eli St. Thomas and Ali Hafez!

Without any prior research or knowledge of the topic, Phil answers Tim's question of whether the relevance of big movie theaters will fade as streaming becomes more relevant, ticket prices increase, viruses like COVID keep people at home, and the demand for certain genres on the big screen decline. The Jerks discuss how long the Hoyt's and Regal's of the world can remain financially feasible. 

In this spooky special, The Jerks discuss their favorite Halloween songs and the undying influence Halloween has had on popular music trends. Tim  puts together a time-line of artists who have incorporated macabre theatrics in their presentations as well as within musical themes. Phil and Tim also go into the elements of what make a song sound spooky beyond it's subject matter. This episode is certainly "a graveyard smash"!

In this very special, "mock-draft," episode the Jerks welcome a guest who comfortably wears the Jerks label! Our cousin, Terry Daley, joins us as the three of us sit down and draft a 5 player basketball team comprised of earthly fictional characters from popular shows and movies! This episode has a few surprises waiting for you as the Jerks post each other up!

In this subjective piece we explore the nature of association and how personal preference is often based on one's unique experiences and reaction to external influences that affect the way we analyzing films.

In this episode The Jerks discuss and debate different types of type-casted actors and how actors get "pigeon-holed" into particular archetypical roles. We (mainly Tim) introduce some debatable ideas around "type-casting" and also introduce a new recurring segment called "PHIL'S FACTS!"

In part one of this episode, The Jerks lay out their "life-time-line" of censorship in pop-culture and discuss the tug-of-war over moral preservation and artistic freedom. From parental advisory stickers, to "a night of a million shits," to our current day trend of retroactive cancelations, nothing is off-limits for The Jerks as they present their theories on the evolution of censorship in our lifetime.

In this episode the Jerks explore why some actors have never made the jump from network TV to the "Silver Screen." We explore those actors whom have tried to leverage their relevance in television into a film career but for one reason or another, just couldn't cut it. Tim and Phil give their theories as to why those like Clooney flourish, why the Scwimmer's of Hollywood stay trapped "in the box" of television.

Heyooo Season 2 is here!! The Jerks are expanding the subject matter they cover in season 2 and opening up with an episode on Finales and the difficulty shows have wrapping up and rounding out the story lines and character arcs that audiences have grown put stake in. The Jerks lay out the scripted stories that, in our opinion, were able to provide satisfying endings and were also able to appeased audiences and the theories as to how and why they were able to pull it off well.

Not sure if anyone, including us, anticipated the Jerks podcast having any sort of longevity... but here we are at the Season 1 Finale!!!!! Phil and Tim have really enjoyed the opportunity to share their thoughts, thought processes (in Tim's case), and theories on how movies and movie culture have influenced all of our lives whether we recognized it or not. In our season finale we take the time to answer the questions submitted by you, our listeners, on all things that go into a Jerks episode. Thank you to all of those who have been listening since the early days and continue to give us feedback and episode + content suggestions! As we travel across states in our mobile studios, in part two of our "Jerks in the Blind" approach, Tim wants to discuss why our home state, New Hampshire, produces a seemingly disproportionate amount of widely known celebrities.
