1. My story, mental health journey, and why I became a coach and healer
In this episode, I share my mental health journey, starting from where I grew up, what my childhood was like, and all the way into me hitting my "rock bottom" in graduate school. You'll hear stories about traumas that I faced, growing up around alcoholism, abuse, codependent relationships, and how that impacted my mental health and turned into anxiety and depression, and some memorable examples of what caused me to develop low self worth and mental health struggles like generalized anxiety disorder, panic attacks, depression, and chronic stress. I dive into how I realized I actually struggled with anxiety for over 12 years without knowing it, and what I tried in order to get relief and heal my mental health, and what failed me and what actually worked. Finally I take you on the journey of leaving my PhD program in earth science and chemistry and the dreams of becoming a professor, and why I shifted into mental health as a profession, to now be a full time coach and healer.
