Embracing Change in Higher Education with Kathryn Neff

Embracing Change in Higher Education with Kathryn Neff

Description:

In this episode, "Embracing Change in Higher Education”, we explore how the landscape of learning and skill acquisition is transforming within the workforce. From manufacturing to allied health, employers are increasingly integrating training opportunities into the workplace, yet they face the hurdles of implementation and the resistance that can come with change.

Join us as we unravel the challenges and gain insights from Kathryn Neff, who shares inspiring stories of learning and connection in the workplace, emphasizing the need to embrace our differences and work together to foster both individual and collective development.

Bio:

Kathryn Neff had no idea how valuable interviewing and writing skills would become in her HR job when she studied journalism at Mizzou.  After completing Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Broadcast Journalism she worked in TV news on the west coast for a couple of years. Missing family events motivated her to move back to the Midwest. She then began working as a temporary employee while obtaining her MBA.  After taking on several temporary assignments, the staffing agency hired her full-time as a recruiter.   She learned a lot about searching for talent and working with people from the staffing agency owners. A partnership with the local community college to assist students with job placement led to a full-time HR role at Mineral Area College 15 years ago.  That current HR role includes compliance, training, benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, employee rewards, and engagement.

In this engaging episode of the Evolving to Exceptional Podcast, host Jessica Tietjen welcomes special guest Dr. Andy Neillie. Dr. Andy shares his unique perspective on leadership, drawing inspiration from his experiences with rescued golden retrievers. Explore the Four Leadership Necessities that form the foundation of exceptional leadership. Discover the importance of self-awareness in leadership and how understanding the signals our brains and bodies send can foster better connections and decision-making.

Bio:

Specifically: speaking, training, and leading teams have characterized the past 20 years of my career. I currently work as a keynote speaker, corporate trainer, coach, and consultant. I present workshops on leadership and sales-related topics for numerous Fortune 500 firms as well as small and mid-sized companies, trade groups, and associations.

Perhaps just as importantly, I’m passionate about the personal side of leading well, and write and speak regularly about building trust as a leader. In addition to teaching leadership principles for Concordia University’s MBA program, I published my first book, The Golden Principles: Life and Leadership Lessons from a Rescued Dog, which uses simple lessons learned from a Golden Retriever about living well and leading well. Several years ago, The Golden Principles was honored by Amazon.com with a “Top 100 Best Books of the Year” award.

Clients hire me to help them develop their leaders because I am one: I own several businesses, manage a team of key leaders, and own ultimate P&L responsibilities for several million dollars of annual revenues. I’ve managed an operational team as well as a sales team, and have spent more than fifteen years honing my craft as a keynote speaker and workshop facilitator on all things pertaining to leadership and sales. I find deep satisfaction in bringing current insights to bear for leaders and their teams.
