Today, Larry and Derek talk about infilling of the Holy Ghost and pentecostalism. What does it mean to have the Holy Ghost and the anointing of God resting upon you? We'll talk about all this & much more!
This week’s episode is once again on baptism. We continue our discussion about the Old Testament principle of Mikvah and its application to the New Testament baptism! We'll also check out baptism in the Name of Jesus and baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost!
This week on part of "Salvation in the Name of God", we take a look at baptism. First, there's an Old Testament ritual that is key to understanding New Testament theology about baptism. Is it necessary for salvation? Should we baptize in the name of Jesus, or should we baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?
On this week's episode, Larry and Derek get into salvation. There's large discrepancies between denominations, religions, etc. about the way to God. We give our personal experiences and testimonies. We discuss why we believe in God and salvation; how we've seen God move through miracles, signs, and wonders; and how the voice of God has played a pivotal role in our lives.
This week we continue our discussion on condemnation. First, we'll talk about ALIENS before jumping into part two. That's right. How would the discovery or visitation of intelligent life affect religion as a whole? We will also be taking a deeper look at our job as Christians when it comes to condemnation. Do we even have a place condemning others? Or, should our objective be much more similar to Jesus' while on Earth? We'll also discuss what condemnation actually looks like, and how we all deserve what condemnation actually looks like.
Condemnation - the expression of very strong disapproval; censure; the action of condemning someone to a punishment; sentencing.
For the next two weeks, Larry and Derek take a look at the waves of condemnation coming from the world and the Church. This month is Pride Month, and we want to discuss how some have chosen mean-spiritedness, bad arguments, and even legislation to force their way. There is such a thing as being right, but having the wrong spirit. Therefore, we do more harm and wrong than any good. How do we navigate these social issues as Christians? What is our motivation when approaching these issues? How do we reach a world drowning in sin and not push them further away?
On this week's episode, Larry and Derek look at the wave of the "prophetic" that is on the rise. In 2020, many "prophets" declared that former President Trump would win a second term. Very few of those have repented of that "prophecy." Those that have repented have faced backlash. But, this goes deeper than the most recent presidential election. There are many who have prophesied in the name of God about plenty of other issues. Have we entered an era akin to Jeremiah and Ezekiel's day where there are many prophets, but less than a handful of true prophets? What about that "lying spirit" God put in the mouth of the prophets because the people refused to listen? Where is the accountability? We take a look at this and MUCH more!
On this week's episode, Larry and Derek look at the recent waves of disinformation and blatant, unapologetic sharing of disinformation within the Church. How does this impact our walk with Christ? Does this just reflect on us, or does it also reflect on the faith? Where does sharing of disinformation lead us, and where will it land us in eternity?
In this week's episode, Larry and Derek discuss how Israel came to be and just how recent the modern idea of Israel came about. Israel is a wonderful country with a history that speaks for itself. But, there was a decades old plan behind the creation of modern Israel. The reasoning for the creation ranges widely from political power to advancing prophecy. Where does "acting to complete prophecy" fall in the grand scheme of things, and is it possible to bring about the coming of Jesus through anything we do?
This week Derek and Larry continue to delve into the biblical idea of marriage. Through Genesis to the Apostle Paul walked, marriage was talked about tons. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is sacred, and it is something that was instituted - not by man - but by God. How does our worldview of marriage align with God's view of marriage? What common concepts of marriage are wrong... or right? Either way, there was so much to talk about that we had to split this into two parts!

On this week's episode, we take a slight detour. Larry and Derek discuss what it means to be a father. From terrible dad jokes to discipline, there are always constant twists and turns. How do we teach our children to love the Lord? How does being a father change your mindset and worldview? How can we use our love for our children to reflect the love that Jesus has for all of us?
In the latest installment, Larry and Derek tackle a big topic: JUSTICE and SOCIAL JUSTICE. At first glance, we believed this topic would be cut and dry, but Larry and Derek's minds were changed after seeing what justice and righteousness referred to in the Bible. We have to reach all the way back to Abraham to understand what the intent is with justice and righteousness. How does modern social justice align with biblical justice? Are some of social justice's concerns found in the Bible?
A new trend in Christianity has led to many prominent and every day Christians to leave the faith. People from Jon Steingard of Hawk Nelson to Rhett & Link of Good Mythical Morning have all went through this process. Larry and Derek break down what it means to deconstruct our faith. What is there to deconstruct about the Christian faith, and how does a biblical view of the world fit in our modern world?
Because of the latest mass shootings, President Biden announced his intentions to possibly use executive action on gun control saying, "No amendment is absolute." On the latest installment of the Jesus Name News Podcast, Larry and Derek seek to find out what the Bible says about weapons. Should Christians own weapons? Should we use them? What is the criteria for using force for defense?
On today's episode, Larry and Derek take a look at why young adults increasingly have no religious preference. How does politics factor into the equation? What role does the Western Church play in this drop in religious affiliation? Does western Christianity always gel with biblical Christianity?
