The Sherpa Screening Room: Two Phone Calls! Opera! Farming! This Number is NOT in Service!
Doing an episode about opera and living off the land is kind of like an episode on Mother Theresa and Carrot Top. Completely different, but, still, so much to learn.  So why not do an interesting mix? Thank you to Rosario and Lionman for your time! By the way, Lionman's father, Neil Perry Gordon was a guest on the show previously to promote his book, "The Bomb Squad". Busy family, huh, Rebels? Rosario's information: https://rosariomonettiopera.com/ You can hear some of his singing here, too...really great! 2 for Too Many Podcasts! (Day 2) We Veg Out with Matt Preston of "The Apathetic Vegan"
Thanks for coming back for Day 2 of 2 for Too Many Podcasts! (What, you waited for me all day to show up?) Today I got to interview Matt Preston, a self-described "non-militant vegetarian" The discussions can get pretty heady-seriously. Listen to what he had to say about the rampant Facebook debate about honey. Yes, honey...the thing that sticks to everything else and never goes bad. But Matt doesn't sweat stuff like that. Check out his podcast and website of the same name. You can really learn a lot about the vegetarian lifestyle, and be better informed about what you're putting in your stomach and taking good care of yourself. Just don't break out some honey in front of someone on Facebook. Nobody likes a sticky mobile phone.... 2 For Too Many Podcasts! (Day 1)Jared Easley will "Starve the Doubts" but Feed the Silliness!
I got to know alot about Jared in our cross-promotion interviews, and had a great time collaborating with him. He's got a lot of both interesting and inspiring stories on "Starve The Doubts". It's certainly worth checking out for a good lift, lesson, and a laugh. I really admire how he can take his topics and use them for inspiration. He likes to see the world succeed. Incidentally, the night we spoke, he was teaching his daughter to ride a bicycle. Today, she's a BMX racer! (Umm, ok, she's not, really. But talk about an exciting follow up!) The Sherpa Screening Room: Faces To Watch- Joe Finfera! (Day 3 of 3)
I think if Joe wasn't an actor, I could imagine him as a motivational speaker. You'll hear the positivity just flowing out of his words. This is a guy that you can tell puts 1000% in his life, whether it be fitness, acting, business, or even being a dad. It's funny, I completely forgot that I once had a copy of "The Complete Book of Abs", that Joe modeled for. Your Sherpa once modeled for a calendar. What? You've never seen the "Don't Let This Happen To You and For God's Sake, Put A Shirt On, People Are Getting Nauseous " calendar? Trust me, it was a big seller. Doubled as a dartboard, too.  But seriously, keep an eye open for Joe's upcoming projects. "Things Buried" is the best 13 minutes you can spend on YouTube. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a beard to work on. Where did that extra yak hair go? The Sherpa Screening Room: Faces To Watch- Patrick Harney! (Day 2 of 3)
It's funny that Patrick Harney went from a guy who had no interest in being in a school production to a guy involved in promoting a movie he's involved with. He was talking about the importance of being a good person, and I could tell how important that still is to him. His fiance is certainly a lucky lady. He's got a realistic view of the entertainment business, and the drive to be a success. He's the kind of person you like to root for. Keep an eye out for his upcoming releases. This is going to be one busy guy for the rest of the year. Patrick's IMDB page link: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6018841/bio Don't forget to check out the other Faces To Watch episodes this week! The Sherpa Screening Room -Faces to Watch: Jean-Pierre Giagnoli ! (Day 1 of 3)
Welcome to Faces to Watch Week in the Sherpa Screening Room! I would refer to Jean-Pierre Giagnoli as a triple threat, but that would be selling the guy short. Plus, I'm the short one on this podcast. What can you say about a guy whose talents are so diverse? Actor, comic, rapper, impressionist, dj...and ghostbuster? Well, I know if I want another fun interview, I can answer the musical question. "Who ya gonna call....?" From someone who lived at the hands of abuse as a child, you can only imagine how determined he is to take his talents to the top.In whatever he chooses! Quick, Get His Autograph! It's Nick from "Fancounters"!
We get those situations in our lives. The accidental...or intentional, meeting with a celebrity. But what's the celebrity's take on that encounter? Enter Nick and Elizabeth, with the "Fancounters" podcast. They bring to you stories from people from all over the entertainment world. Nick had some really interesting stories. Especially the one about "Peeee-ter" Brady actor, Chris Knight. (It's not what you think. Sort of.) I actually did have an "incident" with singer Samantha Fox, back in the 80's. (No police were involved, don't worry) It involves a beret, which probably ended up on the hat of a roadie named One-Eye. (Don't ask...litigation is still pending.) Save the Date! Dating Coach Rick Soetebier Shows You How!
My bulb might have gone out during my conversation with Rick, but it was an enlightening conversation. (Oh, he did not just write that...) I'm always amazed by the different perspectives presented by my guests on dating and relationships. I guess it's why they say men are from Mars and women are from Venus. And why I'm still not welcome in Space Camp. I think if I had a dating coach when I was single, I would have been released into free agency ver quickly. The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Robert Wuhl! (Hollywood Week, Day 4 of 4)
You know, maybe I could take a cue from Robert and call my show, "$herpa: Too Many Podca$t$!" Or not. That title looks like I fell asleep at my keyboard. Which I have done, so I speak from experience. Robert has had an amazing and impressive career, starting as a standup comic back in the 1980's, through today, with all of his accomplishments so far. And I would look to that list of accomplishments to continue to grow..  You'll hear in the interview how incredibly well-versed the man is in a variety of subjects, which I'd presume stems from his naturally curious nature.  I always enjoy episodes where I get to learn things. But the only time I'm interested in being the smartest person in the room is if I was the only person in the room. Maybe that day will come?  Thank you so much, Robert, for your time. The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Bill Foster! (Hollywood Week-Day 3 of 4)
Quick question- How many people do you know who have written children's books, played a "walker" on "Fear the Walking Dead" and own a vineyard...all in one lifetime, that is? Well, look no further, and have a listen to my interview with actor/director/incredibly cool guy Bill Foster. This is truly someone who has walked the walk and talked the talk in many different fields. I'm slightly younger than him, but I already want to be him when I grow up (um, whenever that may be). So, have a listen while you're sitting around the campfire or riding a horse. No campfire? No horse? Then just listen! And while you're at it, please leave the show a nice review on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, or iHeartRadio. Thanks pardners. #VivaLaSherpalution! #Giddyup! The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Dwight Turner! (Hollywood Week-Day 2 of 4)
I had a good time interviewing Dwight. He's a really down-to-earth actor with a true dedication to his craft. You can hear how much he love to act in our interview. And he'll be singing soon, too! When I was watching his clip on "1000 Ways to Die", it made me wonder about a bizarre death for the Sherpa. I'm imagining being eaten by Goldfish. Not the sea animal, mind you. I'm referring to the snack. They are, after all, "the snack that bites you back", Which is kind of a strange tag line for something small children eat. i call political incorrectness! (Oh no, not again...) But I digress. Listen to my interview with Dwight, (as well as all of the others this week) and check out his talent in the links below., And while your at it, subscribe, rate, review (nicely) and share this podcast! Day 2 of "Faces to Watch" continues with these 2 talented guys. And strangely enough, we get an unexpected visitor in both interviews! (Well, full disclosure, one of them is an impression...) Both guys have been working in movies, tv, and short films for some time now, and they have no qualms about playing different types of characters, as their IMDB pages will demonstrate. Faces to Watch: Meet Charli Marie and Joe Walker! (Day 1 of 2)
Welcome to this week's theme: "Faces To Watch." These are people who have worked in the entertainment field that you may or may not know about. My first guest, Charli Marie, spent years writing and working  as a script supervisor, before becoming visible on the other side of the camera. We had to reschedule a few time due to a few hiccups, but the interview with her was well worth the wait. It was equally a pleasure speaking with Joe Walker. I loved the honesty he brought to the interview. It was an interesting change of pace, too. Thank you both, and we at Mt. Podcastia hope to see more of your work! It's a "Wylde" time with Christopher Stolle of "Realm of the Mist Entertainment"!
Nowadays, instead of Jumping off the top rope, Chris Stolle is body-slamming Podcastia with his podcast network! Not only was he a fun guest, but so were some of his network cohorts in previous episodes.(Notice a pattern, Rebels?) He's clearly a guy with an ear for talent (but hopefully not a cauliflower ear). The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Jesse Blaze Snider! (Super-Bonus Episode)
Okay, if you're reading this, here's the inside story. You might notice that some of the swear words got edited out or clipped. After a while, I realized that Jesse is a very passionate person, and that clipping them was taking away from his message...so I left the rest of them in. Don't worry, it's not like there were toooo many of them. (Besides, his dad did battle with the PMRC back in the 80's. I'm not looking for trouble.) Also, the "Raoul" reference Jesse makes had to do with my initial "Hello Rebels", where I got tongue-tied, and it sounded like "Hello, Raoul". (Real smooth, in front of a rock star, Sherpa!) Anyway, Jesse was a lot of fun to talk to, and I really got a kick out of his son Grayson popping in on the interview. Hopefully, I'll get to speak with more musicians in the future. (Maybe even the famous 80's band drummer whose representative told me "Let's revisit this in a year." True story!!) Here's the link to Jesse's music. I forgot to mention that David is the brother-in-law of my Publicist Supreme, Steven Joiner, who, as always, goes wayyyy above and beyond to find your Sherpa amazing guests. Thanks again, Big Guy! (Don't worry, you'll meet him later this season.) David was really something else, moving in his life from Marine sniper to someone who STILL aids and supports the troops through his podcast. His language in his show is very direct, sometimes a bit sweary, but the man gets his point across. All in the name of helping soldiers transition to civilian life. Robbie Clark brings the "Cinema Soapbox" to The Sherpa (but Jim still doesn't look taller standing on it!)
Robbie wanted to surprise his co-hosts on his show by appearing on mine. If he ever wants to surprise me ,think of something that starts with a "P" and rhymes with "Morsha". He's definitely a talented guy, whether acting, writing, podcasting, or just plain creating. In the video we taped for the interview, there were a mountain of dvds in the room, and you could tell how much appreciation he has for movies and tv. he's a student of the art in more ways than one. Plus a fun guest. TGIT! (Today's Guest Is Tammy) !!!
First things first. The quality of my voice in my interview with Tammy sounds as if I was yelling into a coffee can, so I apologize for that, unless you're mad at Maxwell House. But apart from that, Tammy really gets her message across. She's truly a spiritual person who's on a serious mission. And she's certainly off to a good start. Dee Dee! (A Long Distance Sherpa Dedication)
This episode's a bit different from my normal show.  I've been privileged to work most of this year with Steven Joiner, who is a publicist in San Diego. Steve's responsible for getting me at least 90% of the guests I get on my show for Season 3, and also going into Season 4. Steve took a trip to Missouri before the pandemic hit, and currently can't get back to his wife, Dee Dee. He asked if we could do an interview as a surprise to her. And who is your Sherpa ,to stand in the way of true love?  These are truly strange times that we are living through, Rebels. Treasure who you are with and who you miss. (And while you're at it, can you leave me a nice review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or Stitcher, and subscribe and follow the show?)  Don't forget that the rest of this week has bonus episodes of "The Sherpa Screening Room". But we're back next week with another episode of Too Many Podcasts! and we'll be speaking to Tammy of #TGIT...see you then!  #VivaLaSherpalution!

COVID-19 : Lauren and Nick of "Just Na Science" give us the straight facts!!
It's those crazy lovebirds, the "Just Na" Scientists to the rescue! And their Little Jerry, too! I felt they were far better qualified to explain what's going on than I ever could be. And of course, I was right! We may hear about this constantly on the news, and it's very bleak, but they can help all of us understand exactly what's happening here. And it's important to be informed, especially since we ALL play a part in containing the spread of the virus. So once again, mucho thanks, my friends! The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Larry Hankin (Part 1)!!
What better way to start off Season 3 of Too Many Podcasts! with a "Hollywood Week" of "Sherpa Screening Rooms", AND with a 2-part interview? I really admired Larry's brutal honesty. It's the Season 2 Wrap-Up! (Like the Season 1 Wrap-Up, but with less gluten....)
So much to discuss  in the Wrap-Up! First, a thanks to all of you rebels, and the guests who brought you here. (Don't worry, I'll find out who clogged the toilet in the Sherpa chalet...) Then, we get to have the "money talk". Uh, kind of.  And pay a visit to my website, sherpalution.com. Which has no porn on it. Anymore.  After that, what's on tap for Season 3.  Here'a a hint - it involves more podcasters and more folks from the entertainment world, And finally, listener questions! It's an honor to have brought you the first two seasons. I've already recorded a number of episodes for Season 3 already, so I'm ahead of schedule, for now. I've got a few things planned to shake things up, ever so slightly As long as you're a subscriber to the show, you'll catch them. If not, go ahead and subscribe. While you're doing that, please leave a nice review on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher or iheart radio. Also if all goes according to plan, you'll hear this show being affiliated with some independent podcast networks. Also, share my episodes on social media, so more people know about the sherpalution. And they can catch current and previous episodes through their favorite podcast app or my website. Quick, Joe Rogan! Kristoffer Carter needs a lab coat, stat!
Wow, what a way to end Season 2...with an experiment! And Kristoffer was at the ready. Let's see how it all turns out. As I mention on the show, after we recorded this episode, I recorded an episode for "From Where I Sit" with Kris. I think by that point in time, we were getting a bit giddy. But you'll have to hear it for yourself. And on "From Where I Sit" the episode is called...nooooo, not so fast, you'll have to see for yourself. Get Happy...Again! Author Selene Castrovilla Is the Bonus Episode Guest!
A while back I interviewed Selene's co-author, Dr. Lindsay Kallen-Weisner about the book they wrote together. Lindsay was so much fun that I knew she wouldn't steer me wrong in recommending Selene for an interview. And she did not! Selene was such an interesting guest. You can hear the passion that she puts in her writing when she talks about her books. .You can only imagine what a great book that will be, since it was created by two brilliant minds. It's a Pop Culture Tag Team! The Heavyweight Chumps are Here!
It's a good thing that I always like the podcasters that I interview. Somehow, I wouldn't want to envision slamming "The Heavyweight Chumps" and getting body-slammed by either Mattox or Thundercookies. (Besides, how do you explain that a guy named Thundercookies body-slammed me? ) Although they've put their ring action behind them, the guys don't mind discussing wrestling, movies, tv, music, etc. They're not only available on your favorite podcast apps, you can also catch them on the radio, too. The guys were lots of fun to talk to, also, and they really enjoy their fans, too. (Maybe, just don't ask Thundercookies where he got his name from in front of the kids,)And you can tell that Mattox has a wealth of info, too. Hanging Out with author/YouTuber Heather Lehrman and discussing bullying and cameo stardom!
Heather had just finished a workout before our interview, which, coincidentally, so did I. (Napping is still considered working out, right? Anyone?) Not only did she work up a sweat in her workout, she put a lot of sweat into her book, "Bullied at the Dog Park". Here's hoping that she gets the animated series that she's hoping for. She certainly is a busy lady, between promoting her book, acting auditions, and her YouTube show. I find it so impressive that she took an event that would have been an annoyance to many, and was able to parlay it into an important conversation. Please be kind to each other, Rebels. Getting the Massage Across...with Robert Gardner!
No, sorry, not a typo THIS time! Robert is the host of a YouTube channel and podcast that focuses on massage, yoga, and wellness. It was interesting that he found interest in this as a pain management method after being hit by a drunk driver. His methods may vary from what you may know, or think what you know, about massage technique. If you visit his YouTube channel, you'll understand his point. Hopefully, the medical community will gain a better understanding of his methods in time. (Sorry, I'm not using the "He must be rubbing them the wrong way" joke. Nope, not doing it. Jeremy Sellars of "Think Like A Man" talks Podcasting, Political Correctness, and....Kangaroo Massacres?
Ok, exactly what was I thinking when I referred to my guest as Justin? I think the cough medicine kicked in when I was doing my editing. Apologies to Jeremy, who's such a cool guy! Normally I try to be clever with my Sherpa Sheet titles, but this one is true on all accounts! It was unfortunate that 1) Jeremy's co-host Daniel couldn't make it, and 2)I have a horrible, annoying, cough, but Jeremy ,nonetheless, was up to par for this interview. If you're listening to their show, you'll notice that they are not "in-your-face" with their opinions, but they do get their points across like gentlemen. And can't we all just take a cue from that? Everyone's a critic! (Which is why Rhonda hosts "One Bad Review"!)
I dunno. Has this world gone so crazy that EVERYTHING in creation has to get a review? (Well, if you're nice, you'll give a nice one for my podcast on Apple Podcasts...hint,hint...) Sometimes, all you need to buy is socks, and not hear Bob from Sheboygan's one-star review because the socks "did not bring world peace as I hoped". Say "yes" to "Just Na Science"...Nick and Lauren show us why!
They blinded me with SCIENCE! And hit me with some comedy! (Okay, that meets my weekly quota of 80's pop song references. You're welcome, Thomas Dolby.) Lauren and Nick are a great couple. And super-smart, too! I'm very glad that I got to do a science-themed show. I had even suggested that they create a YouTube channel for their show after our interview, but right now they're a bit focused on a little thing they're calling "their wedding.." (Okay, I guess I could be a bit patient...) They pull no punches debunking the ridiculous scientific theories posted on social media. Okay, read that again..."scientific theories on social media" . "Organize For Success" for 2020, with our guest, Kathy McEwan!
Happy New Year, Rebels! Are you ready to get organized? That may seem like a big step for some, but Kathy's podcast makes it an easy, small step for everyone. ("That's one small step for people, one giant leap for organization!" Or something like that.) Kathy admittedly started on her organizing skills at a young age, and was able to parlay that into a career. I had no idea there was actually a board to determine Certified Professional Organizers. I guess if I showed up and couldn't find my pen that would be an instant fail? Her podcast is a great starting point for people who want to learn why they are disorganized and how to do something about it. It's such a great starting point that she so kindly allowed me to use an episode of her podcast for an upcoming episode of my podcast, The Expert Factory. Keep your eyes and ears tuned for that, but listen to her podcast in the meantime. You know how I love an informational podcast! It's The Christmas Show! Kat McLead on turning her life around!
Merry Christmas...and all of the translations that go with it, for my international listeners! Or just Happy Holidays if you're not celebrating Christmas. Either way, did you get your Sherpa a present? Hopefully not more exclamation marks!!! I still haven't used all  the ones I got last year.. Tis week's episode isn't about a podcast, it's about a lady... with an interesting story. I hope it inspires you at this time of year and reminds us all that we have the power to create the life that we want for ourselves. Next week, it's my interview with Kathy McEwan of "Organize For Success". We're getting organized! (Honestly, I had something more clever to write, but I can't seem to find the notes I had it on.... Lights, Camera, Podcast! We're going to the Movies with Natalia Bye!
And what better person to catch a flick with? Natalia is half the team of the "Movies with Cain and Tal" podcast. Both her and Cain bring fresh perspectives on the movies they discuss, whatever country the movie may be from. She accidentally called me Joe during the interview, which made me wonder if I owed her money. Or maybe Joe does? Anyway,I've noticed that she's certainly a talented force to be reckoned with.  You just might hear her composing a movie soundtrack one day! So, if I want to catch a movie with her (and her almost famous midriff), will the flight to Australia cost less then the candy I'll buy in the theatre? It's the "Sherpa of Soul", Todd Woodson, of "Bring Back Soul Music"!(Spoiler alert:Surprise at the end...)
Do you like good music? Sweet soul music? Then, my friend, this is the episode for you! Had a great talk with Todd about music that we both love, and hopefully music you'll love, too. Just hearing him say the words "Old School" makes you yearn for that kind of music playing on your speakers. Todd's show is still in its early stages, so you can catch up on the episodes very quickly. I'm hoping that his "Soul-a-lution" (Soulution?) picks up lots of support and can have a positive effect on the airwaves. He's made a believer out of me, no doubt!  No argument with his Top 5 "Desert Island Discs", either....   #VivaLaSoul-A-lution! #VivaLaSherpalution! Could sipping "The Odd Tonic" with Jennifer and Maxwell make your Sherpa normal?
This week, I get to interview a parlourful of talent! I think these are the first co-hosts I've met with their own IMDB pages. Well, I have one also, but it stands for "Ill-Mannered Dull Boy." This was an interview that literally came out of the blue, and I'm really glad that I didn't pass it up. I was simply amazed, loving the style of their podcast, but then I came to learn how their collective talents created it. I have to learn how to dress like Maxwell. Or Jennifer. But I may have to wax my legs. Alot! Like I'm the grounds crew at a football stadium. And oddly enough, I kid you not, the interview on the paranormal ended with a black cat walking across their keyboard and disconnecting our video. (Do you think I can hire that cat to do my social media?) I'm sure the interview would have continued if it weren't for those meddling teenagers! (Or if I had better internet. Either one of those things.) It's Brandon from "10ish"! And a Major-ish Surprise-ish Announcement-ish!
So nice of Brandon to hop on down to the Chalet for an interview. This is the time of year that the media floods us with Year-End Top 10 lists...but they're not like the lists you hear on "10ish" with Brandon and his co-host/buddy Nick.  Although I'll never quite figure out why Brandon calls "Bones" the worst tv show ever, I guess we can let it slide.  After all, both he and Nick are "Georges", right? So check out "10ish"...play along, too, and see how your guesses work out!! Also, listen for the major announcement! Come On, Get Happy! Dr. Lindsay Weisner of "Neurotic Nourishment" talks Happiness (WITHOUT swearing!)!
I'll bet some of my previous podcast guests know a thing or two about past life experiences, but something tells me Dr. Lindsay Weisner was a standup comic in a previous life...or maybe will be in a future one? She had me laughing so much during our interview with her quick wit and impeccable comic timing. You get the full effect when you listen to her and her buddy Sharone in their podcast, "Neurotic Nourishment." (This was her dialing it down on my show!) But, swearing or not, she's got a lot of interesting things to say, so I'm sure when her book comes out, it will be a "must-read". Her perspective on life is simply fascinating. You would think that someone who counsels depressed and suicidal patients would see such a dark side of the world; instead, she shows you that there's always hope and light. There are no illusions here, though-she calls it as she sees it. She told me she likes podcasting because it gives her the chance to meet new people....but this time, the pleasure was all mine. Here's hoping we get to work together again. While I'm still older than her.... When the chips are down, let's get them out of the bag, and talk to JP, host of "Junk Foodies"!!
Quick survey...how many of you were snacking when you played this podcast? (Not you, Jeffrey Dahmer...) Junk food-we either love it, or we try our best to stay away from it. Whatever side of the fence you are on, JP's podcast is worth a listen. Granted, he might be one of the newer junk food podcasts, but my hunting has shown that there aren't too many current junk food pods out here in Podcastia. Plus, the guy let me show my hip hop style! (Okay, I confess-just looking to place some blame somewhere.) So glad he didn't allow me to breakdance or throw my hands in the air and wave 'em like I just don't care. Anyway, it was great talking with him, and I wish him well with this interesting new venture. Anything involving ketchup always gets my vote! It's an Interesting Walk (and Talk ) with "Widow Walking Forward"'s Lisa Joy Walters!
A little bit of a change-up this week, but don't worry, my supply of bad jokes for the podcast is untouched. It's okay to discuss grief on a podcast that has a tendency to get silly on occasion, and Lisa Joy was the right person for this discussion. You'd think that a podcast with the word "Widow" in the title wouldn't raise your spirits, but for this show, you'd be wrong.  You can tell how her family has pulled together in a time of tragedy, and provides not only support for one another, but support for the listeners of her program.  My advice to you? Learn to be a "joyster", even though it's not always the easiest thing in the world. You'll see how Lisa is in touch with her spiritual side sand how it brings her comfort in the time of her husband Doug's passing. Although I never knew him, I'm sure Doug was a lucky man to have lived the life he did, and others are lucky to have remembered his impact on them as well. I'm guessing when I get called to that big Podcastia in the sky, peoples' fondest memory of me will be "So glad he finally learned to eat using utensils." (It's a start.) Hey, Howard Stern, "Howiedoinit"? It'll be great when you meet Howie Kra, this week's guest!!
LL Cool J  once rapped,"'Don't call it a comeback..." , but we all have those moments we need to bounce back from. Failures, breakups, scandals, maybe bigger, or smaller. (But enough about my afternoon in the Piggly Wiggly). I can count on my hand the number of podcasters who were run over by a bus, were told they would never walk again, and then ended up running marathons. That count is "one", as in the one and only Howie Kra. If you find nothing inspiring about his story, maybe you need to look up the word "inspiring" again. Thanks to his wonderful assistant Amber, I got to talk to him firsthand. Ex-Wall Street guy, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, father..he's had his shares of highs and lows, but ;ike he says, be accountable and just show up, if you want to get over the hurdles you may encounter. Personal Finance Help...Stat! Ryan Inman of "Financial Residency" brings the Cure!
My first listener-requested show! Always glad to help you out there in the listening world. When I told Ryan how hard it was to find a financial planner with a podcast, his reply was "There are four of us." And what an incredible help he was...I wonder if the other 3 even know about the Sherpa Chalet? It's great to listen to a finance guy who can put things in easy-to-understand terminology, and not get lost in a sea of acronyms (which is worse than being in an ocean of lotion.) Ryan helped to provide the basics of what we need to do to not let our finances get out of control. Keep in mind that in many instances, certain plans may work more accordingly for some than others. Okay, Joe Rogan, do I have your attention? This is a guest you need for your show. Father of 4 talented daughters, novelist, martial artist, and host of his own MMA podcast. "The Unusual Buddha", Jim Martin, explains Buddhism and Meditation! And, Exclamation Points return for the Season 2 debut!!
Welcome to another season of the Sherpa Sheet! I'll start by stating that i keep a mental list of some of the topics that I'd like to cover. As long as there are good podcasts about the topics where I can learn, then I'm sold. Take Buddhism, for example. It's always something that I've never really understood. Enter Jim Martin to solve that problem! Obviously, you can't learn every last thing about it in the span of a half hour, but Jim really helped me to understand the important elements of Buddhism. (A lot of his shows cover meditation, so if Buddhism doesn't fascinate you, you can still learn how to relax your mind and find inner peace.) Since the closest way I'll ever get to Nirvana is by listening to a 90's grunge playlist (Kids, just ask your parents to explain) I'd just like to say "thanks so much" to Jim. You're more knowledgeable than unusual, my friend. Korina and Dillon serve up a fresh "Morning Cup of Murder" and Serial (Killers) to go!
Who would have thought my Season 1 finale would end up with a true crime podcast? Some say in Podcastia, you could find a true crime podcast just by swinging a dead, uh, body. But Korina and Dillon provide a nice, compact, well-researched, daily dose of evil and mayhem, which makes this podcast a standout. Plus, they were fun to speak with!. So cool to see a married couple that can pool their talents together and make it work in a podcast. Hey, I do my show solo, and I probably argue with myself more than I've chosen to admit this season! I may need my lawyer, Dirty Louie, to arbitrate if it gets worse.. Plus!  Which is trickier for Korina- researching Jack the Ripper victims, or getting their son to take a nap? .Would a D&D serial killer pique Dillon's interest?Places for killers to hide(or not) in Tennessee! Psychic Medium Samantha Jones gives us a "spirited" insight into the psychic world!
True story- I had initially contacted another psychic for an interview about the psychic world, but they unfortunately never responded to my request. To that person, I offer a hearty "Thank you", because instead, I got to speak with Samantha Jones of "Spiritual Philos-O-Chatter with the Joneses"!!! So that person's lost opportunity was a victory for me as a podcaster. And how lucky was i? Samantha told me beforehand that she knew that psychic ability could be controversial to talk about, but my intent was to learn about the process, and not debate. I don't think anyone else could have provided an understanding of the psychic process better than Samantha.  Her interview definitely provided a new appreciation of something that I'm now a lot less skeptical about. Thanks, Samantha!! (Unfortunately, her husband Danny, who is her co-host, was unable to sit in for the interview, but the Sherpa Chalet says "thank you" to him as well.) Also! Is There a Midwife in the Chalet? Monica Wallace of "Women's Health Matters" knows what to Doula, and More!
I'm not a doctor. I don't even play one on tv (Are you listening, "General Hospital" casting director?). But many of my guests I've had this season have provided a wealth of medical information, and Monica Wallace certainly delivered (See what I did there?). Monica has a treasure trove of knowledge of women's health issues, given her over 20 years of experience as a midwife, doula (2 different things!), and yoga instructor. It was fun speaking with her, even though the subject matter wasn't necessarily "guy talk". Her podcast is nonetheless highly informative.. and recommend. Plus! Responses for the Sherpa bride! We ask Jo Wilson, "Is This Love?" (Spoiler alert...It's her podcast...)
What a great time i had speaking with Joanne Wilson! Podcaster, neuropsychotherapist, counselor, blogger, radio personality, writer, wife, mom of 3...I think I would get a hernia again holding her business card! She really provided a lot of insight into the workings of the brain and how to keep a marriage strong. But I'm positive that those of you who have read her writings or listened to her radio appearances or podcasts already knew that! (Also, her website is worth checking out, too) You can tell that she really cares about people and wants to help those who need it.  LOVE her mantra of "It is never too late to begin.". How true is that for all of us?? People like her make me glad that I get to do this. (Okay I think I've gushed enough...do I get a free "Is This Love?" t-shirt now?) But seriously, I consider myself very lucky to have interviewed her. Plus! Chemistry without Bunsen burners! Jo tries not to hit her husband's car! Conversation starters that won't land you in court! It's Book Club, with Kristina and Marc "The Shark" Ritorto at the Sherpa Chalet!
Book club, you say? Hey, if Oprah can do it ,so can I. Without the obscenely large paycheck, of course. Marc's incredibly lucky to be so talented and to have a talented family. Throughout the interview, i kept thinking in the back of my head, "If all of his daughters end up authoring their own books, won't he have a publishing cabal? And what an amazing talent in his daughter, Kristina!! At 11, I was purely focused on architecture and construction, myself. You know, building tree forts with Steven Nocar. I wonder how often Marc's daughters ask,"Read any good books lately?" Plus! MMA star or ninja? What will Kristina's podcast be? And where can I get a "Martial Artist on Premises" sign? Now boarding! The return of Allison Sharpe from "Travel Snacks"!
She's back! With snacks! And an announcement! I must confess that I wasn't happy with the audio quality of our first interview( as much as I enjoyed the interview), but that's my fault as an inexperienced podcaster. So as far as having Allison back for a "remix"...wish granted! Thank you, Allison! Just as wonderful 19 episodes later!! Robert Bear, creator of "Invention Stories" makes a "patented" appearance at the Sherpa Chalet!
My interview this week comes back to the States. My talk with Robert Bear was very interesting and educational. I found it particularly amazing that a self professed failed inventor found his success hosting a top-ranked invention podcast. (Is that what they call reinvention?) He gave a lot of great advice in the interview, but there's more to be found on his podcast.  He told me that he's happy to make his show his legacy, so future inventors can be successful. So far, so good, Robert! Plus! Apple (Crider) envy! Bunch of Balloons hits it big! An ad-free podcast?? And, if Robert lives by the beach, does he know which sharks will write a check? "Walking the Shadowlands" with Marianne, and talking about...the paranormal (and her podcast)!!
Who else but me gets the bright idea to record a podcast about the paranormal at 11:00 PM on a Saturday night? When Marianne and I were done, I was worried I would hear "GETTTTT OUTTTT!!!" on my Alexa speaker. It was really interesting hearing Marianne's perspectives on the paranormal. While many may have a degree of skepticism on these subjects, Marianne related her stories just like she does with her podcast-straightforward and factual. I also felt that it was also a nice change of pace for the show, don't you think? Also! Say "Patupaiorehe" five times fast!  Who's making the lights flicker? Say WHAT to Alexa? Is Bigfoot travelling under an alias? And, if you hit a ghost with you car, do they take away it's haunting license? Don't forget to enter the Perfection Chocolates/Too Many Podcasts! There Will Be Chocolate! Contest. Listen to the show, or check instagram for details under @2manypodcasts or @chocolatejohnny. You can win a $30.00 Chocolate prize package from Perfection Chocolates!! Also, check out the show on Podcoin, and earn a little coin. There will be CHOCOLATE! A fun chat with John Kapos (aka Chocolate Johnny) about social media!
I'm having such incredible luck speaking with Australians, and John Kapos was no exception. We must have spoken 20 minutes both before and after I recorded our interview. He's one of those people you have an feeling of instant familiarity with. He's clearly passionate about Perfection Chocolates and helping others develop a social media presence. He certainly helped give me a new perspective, and was glad to assist with recommending future guests. Thank you SO much, John! He certainly kept me laughing throughout the interview, too, as you'll plainly hear. Speaking of listening, keep your eyes and ears open for the John Kapos Podcast in the near future. Meet Jasmin Shojai: A supersized interview with a super-nice supermodel/actress !!
(Warning: This Sherpa Sheet makes continuous use of the word "super"...in case that word easily offends you. But listen to the interview with Jasmin, and it makes heaps of sense.)  Before we started our recording, Jasmin asked if it was okay if her cockatiels flew around during the interview. Not a problem (Not like it was a pet lion!!).So we had built - in nature sounds for a super-down to earth person! I really admired her candor throughout the interview, whether about modeling, acting, social media, posing for Playboy, or cosmetic surgery. (Super honest!) She told me she really wanted to let people know about cosmetic surgery, and has appeared on other venues to discuss it as well. She's worked so hard to get to the level that she's at, and she has a great appreciation of how far she's gotten (super grounded!) . Plus! What does a supermodel do on her day off? Why is Leo so lucky? Mom knows best! Which bird doesn't live up to their name? And, is "Beauty by Jasmin" on the shelves yet?? (Also, happy super birthday, Jasmin!)  Jasmin's info: Contact: joshshumacher@jasminshojai.com  (Josh is her manager, I mean super-manager, who helped arrange the interview...thank you!) Step 1- Listen to "Greener Thoughts" with Na'ilah. Step 2- Help Save the Earth. Step 3- Repeat often....
Welcome to the Sherpa Sheet! It's the "Save the Earth" edition. I wanted to be sure I would pronounce Na'ilah's name correctly for the interview (I know it bugs me when people mispronounce "sherpa"..or "Jim"). She prefers the pronunciation "NY-lah..like the Lion King." And oddly enough, isn't preserving our planet for the next generation part of "The Circle of Life"? (My lawyer,Dirty Louie, says I won't have to pay Elton John and Tim Rice royalties for saying that.) I definitely agree that she is living up to the definition of her name. Na'ilah's clearly a woman of many talents, and her creative side is evident in her podcast.  She even "out-sherpa'd" me with her podcast suggestions. She listens to more than I do in a given time. Hmmmm...If I hang up on this podcasting gig, I may have found a Sherpa Successor. Plus! Seafood lasagne! The Money-Making Episode: Get to know Apple Crider of "Young Smart Money"!
If I could bottle and sell Apple Crider's energy from our interview alone, I'd already be on track to making money. He's definitely someone who is wise beyond his years in matters of marketing and personal finance. If you looked up "ambition" in the dictionary, you'd probably see his picture. He's no fly-by night-get-rich-quick snake oil salesman. He's clearly a guy who's been out in the trenches, and can walk the walk and talk the talk with his podcast guests. Zachary Smith is a man on a "Mission 4 Health"....really, he is!
It was a real pleasure speaking with Zach for this week's episode. Talk about someone with a real passion for life, and a spiritual connection to what he does for others. Super easy to listen to his show, too, since it's in easy 1-minute bites. And he gives you a minute worth thinking about.  I think Mary Catherine will certainly grow up in a world where her parents will always let her know how special she is to them. After our conversation, I got him Dan Young's (my previous guest, who hosts Total Wellness Radio) contact info. I think even if they don't end up on each other's podcast, they would still have a great conversation about living a healthy life. But fingers crossed for networking. Also! All meat, all the time? The Voiceover Takeover! A conversation with our own voiceover guy, Bruce Goldberg!
Bonus-sized episode this week, and for good reason! Bruce Goldberg and I had a chat for about 2 hours, not all of which is on the show. Like I mention in the interview, part of the reason Bruce was brought on to be our voiceover guy was so there was a different voice for the podcast, for the segments in our show. I felt that having Bruce on for an interview helps introduce him to the audience, since he's an important part of the show now. And what an interesting story he has to tell. From a kid with a radio set, to a dj, to radio personality, to A&R guy, to business owner to voiceover artist, this is one guy who has no interest in being complacent in life. I found his story fascinating, funny, and inspirational as well. I found him on a site called fiverr, but I got a million dollars' worth of advice in our conversation. Plus! Battle of the AI assistants! Swearing to make a 30-second ad better! Bruce's assistant sounds familiar! And Bruce notices something off with Milli Vanilli, but he doesn't blame it on the rain! Whooooo are this week's guests? Why, Amanda and Dave from "The Owlish Folk", of course!
Welcome back to the Sherpa Sheet! A little background on this week's episode. I had initially been scheduled to interview just Dave Roberts for this show, because Amanda Greenwood wasn't sure if she could make it. I had a feeling it would be fun with one or two of them. Luckily, she was able to make it. At first, there was no audio for our interview, but once we got it working, BOOM! Dave and Amanda just got the ball rolling before we even started recording. This was actual conversation: Dave: Jim, I have to warn you, I'm not wearing any trousers. Amanda: Me, neither. In fact, I'm wearing my husband's underwear. Dave: So am I! Now, I don't know about you, but when you start off like that, I know it's going to be a fun interview. I found it interesting how they found lives and careers for themselves in South Korea. As for me, I get a little nervous if I have to drive into the next county. You can tell throughout the interview, and their podcast, what good  friends they are, and they were up to whatever the interview had in store for them. They're the type of people that you could go out to lunch with and come back with as old friends. They certainly were at home at the Sherpa Chalet...with (or without) pants .Plus: Yo! Sup!: The Podcast! Chessboxing-.the Sport of Kings (and Rooks)? Amanda's FitBit gauges the show! An (almost) K-Pop duet with Dave! And, if you are "literally overwhelmed with a case of the Mondays during a 7th inning stretch" these Owls will be looking for you! (I'll be hiding in the Chalet, as a home tonsorial artist.) Stacy the Kid talks about joy and Tsoro in his podcast, "Jaunts and Faults"!
I guess we could call this edition of the Sherpa Sheet, "When the Sherpa met the Kid". And I certainly was glad to... Under the charge of overusing the word "interesting", I plead guilty, which I guess is better than pleading insanity. I really enjoyed my conversation with Stacy. He really knows a lot about literature, and you could see how much it plays a part in his life. He doesn't just write, he creates-which is what authors aspire to do. He's played so many roles in his life  and it doesn't appear that he'll be slowing down for quite some time. Stacy and i spoke about his influences, and how his life has influenced his writing.  Plus-the story of Tsoro the Watcher-and what to watch out for in the next season! Michael Wood gives us 366 Reasons to enjoy the "1 Year Audio Bible Experience"
Hmmmm....they say you're not supposed to discuss religion in mixed company. But after interviewing Michael Wood, I would think differently. Here's a talented guy, who wears many hats, who uses his talents to present a DAILY podcast of Bible passages. Regardless of what your religion is, his podcast is a well-produced broadcast that you will enjoy, and get a better understanding of the Bible. In this episode, Michael discusses his background and how religion became an important part of his life, and how the podcast has affected him. Also, did Jesus really say "Hold on, I'm recording!"? Bible bloopers! The link between Overwatch and the Bible! And "Dante's Inferno:The Podcast?" Dan Young of "Total Wellness Radio" supplements us with useful health information!
As the old saying goes, "You gotta get up early in the morning ....to get a podcast interview with Dan Young!" Or something like that...  Great early morning chat with Dan this week. He tells us what inspired him to get into the healthcare field, and about his work as a clinician. We discuss how pharmaceutical and natural medicine can peacefully coexist. And, if you think that supplements aren't checked by the FDA, you might have to rethink that. He also shares the healthy habits he adheres to in his life to keep health problems at bay(and it's not just an apple a day). Also, the rise of "cyberchondria"  (love the word, hate the reality of it)!! An inside look at the Keto diet! And all this time I thought it was the Cheeto diet. Susannah Lewis of "Thornvale" talks RPG, Monsters, Magic, and Marriage!
First things first. Please don't confuse The Sherpa Sheet with The Mueller Report. We're the one that's not redacted.  I have to confess...I really didn't know much about RPG's until I started listening to Thornvale. Granted, I grew up in the era of  D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) but I never really followed it. So, thank you, Susannah, for explaining it, and recommending other podcasts in this genre. I think that she will be the type of writer who will gather a large following in a short period of time, since she has such a love of the genre as many of its fans do. We also discuss how "Stranger Things has helped revive RPG. Also, monsters in Florida! Keeping the Vermont world separate from the Florida world! Characters with special powers! RPG players taking over! And, Susannah finds love on Christian Mingle !!( I didn't ask if her husband could sprout wings, but wouldn't that be cool?) Plus, we also throw in a dose of Sherpa Suggestions and Podcast Pointers. This time, we'll discuss your podcast settings. Did you know you can make me talk faster? Deanne Goodman of " In Happier News" is bringing positivity to the Sherpa Chalet!
It's a week about positivity! Let's start this week's Sherpa Sheet with a story. When I went to check out Deanne's podcast, and I read about its origin, 2 words came to mind... instant fascination. And after hearing some of her episodes, I said to myself, "This is someone I'm going to enjoy interviewing. ' And my Sherpa instincts were spot on. Here's a person who can juggle so much in her life and and keep up the positivity she shares in her podcasts. They really will put a smile on your face if you need a pick me up, or just want to maintain a sunny disposition. Her story is one of inspiration from an unexpected source. We talk about news reporting, how parents can be positive for their kids, and the problem with the lack of upbeat stories in the media. Plus, Deanne shares happy news from her own personal life! And was the Sherpa fanboying about an Oprah podcast?? You'll only be sure if you're listening! Plus, some kind words to some wonderful people ...with a presidential nomination!. And naturally, Sherpa Suggestions!! As previously mentioned, Episode 5 was a "podcast primer" of sorts, to the listeners who aren't that experienced with podcasts. This week, I introduce an occasional segment called "Podcast Pointers" for those people. This time around, I answer the question, "How do you share a podcast?" If you've got a question about podcast apps, the show, a certain guest, or anything else concerning life on Mount Podcastia, join the people who have podcasts that want to promote them, who can contact me at jimthepodcastsherpa@gmail.com, and I'll try to help you out. Podcast 101! Jim the Podcast Sherpa Flies Solo, and Manages to Knock Over the Drink Cart....
Welcome to the Sherpa Sheet for Episode 5. I got some new listeners this past week who are new to the world of podcasts. So , we take a sneak peek behind the curtain of Too Many Podcasts!...and realize that this curtain needs to be vacuumed. Ugh. I explain what a podcast is and how to subscribe, and how to unsubscribe , once you realize you've made a grave judgement in error. On a date? Stop what you're doing and do it better, after you hear Kealy Ryder, host of "Dating Talk With Kealy" !!
We'll start this week's Sherpa Sheet with a behind the scenes story. The interview with Kealy was conducted on a video app. Kealy was concerned about how she'd look on video sans makeup. I just use audio so, no worries. Trust me, she looked better without makeup than I did WITH makeup. And I was in a prom gown, With swim fins . When I was dating, Tinder referred to firewood and not a hookup app  (Yet, with either one, I'd worry about who was holding the axe.), so it was interesting to hear her perspectives on dating in the modern age. Kealy talks about a great first date and how she successfully avoided working for a moving company of potential serial killers.. She aces "Which Is Better/Which is Worse?"  a game that I made up that I will likely lose the pieces to. She teaches me how a guy should ask her out (Hint: Begging and pleading does not make the cut.) Plus! MeToo dating! How men screw up dates( We do!)! Weird Al breakup therapy! Why Kealy is openly discusses her sex life! (Be thankful that your Sherpa did not) A stoop grows in Brooklyn! And the story of how the lovely Sherpa bride came in the picture, even though Panera Bread thinks the Sherpa is a cheapskate!  Kealy, like the guests I've had on so far, was a real pleasure to speak with. She's clearly comfortable in her own skin, and was very down-to-earth  Check out her podcast, but wear headphones! I'm sure at some point in her future, she will meet a great guy who will treat her the way women deserve to be treated. Someone that nice deserves that happiness. She stresses that men should listen...and if you're listening to her podcast, you're on the right path.  So, what else this week? It's a continuation of the Allison Sharpe Admiration Society! Thank you soooo much for the kind words about Too Many Podcasts! Hopefully, it will grow my listenership, or I'll have to revisit that begging and pleading again. Also, more Sherpa Suggestions for dating and sex podcasts. Follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Don't forget...you can email your podcast suggestions, or mention your podcast to jimthepodcastsherpa@gmail.com or leave me a voicemail on the Anchor app. Either one could end up on a future show, so come on and get famous! And leave a positive review, because this show is for you! (Darn, I forgot to ask Kealy about bad poetry!) Kealy's contact info: "Dating Talk with Kealy"-podcast, IG: @datingtalkwithkealy; Twitter- @datingtalkwithk; email -datingtalkwithkealy@gmail.com Kealy's podcast suggestions: My Favorite Murder, It's Not She, It's You Sherpa Suggestions for the week: U Up?; I Don't Get It; Unsolicited Advice with Ashley and Taryne, Call Her Daddy,; Speaking of Sex With The Pleasure Mechanics That's it for this week's Sherpa Sheet! Communicating about Communication with David Battaglia, Host of "Perception Is Reality"
Welcome to the Sherpa Sheet! This time around it's a (bit more serious than usual) chat with David Battaglia about his podcast, "Perception Is Reality." David was a pleasure to speak with, and (I'll say it again for Episode 3), a big help. Check his podcast out and notice how tactfully he handles what could be uncomfortable conversations for many of us. We talk about how social media and political beliefs affect conversation in these times, and how to be a better conversationalist with those you might disagree with. Definitely stuff for me to keep in mind as I continue my own podcasting journey, aka "The Sherpa-lution". Oh, and we also rave about Allison Sharpe of Travel Snacks! (Remember her from Episode 1?) After our chat, a few Sherpa Suggestions on podcasts about communication. Then, I sing the finale from "Rigoletto". (What's that? It didn't record? Ummm...never mind that last part.) Here is the information provided by David: Podcast: Perception Is Reality; Website:Perception Is Reality.online; Social Media- Instagram +Twitter: @pirpodcast ; Email pirpodcast@gmail.com, Call: 585-210-0240 Podcasts recommended by David: Travel Snacks, Colin can Help, A Little Bit of Everything With Me Here are this week's Sherpa Suggestions for other communications podcasts to check out:The Communication Guys Podcast; The Communication Diva; The Argument(warning: very political!);and, Clear + Vivid with Alan Alda.
