227: Crowdendum
Just a quick one after getting back home to Seattle. I have three calls that I want to play because I think they're each special in their own way. Thank you very much to Colin, B. J., and Jason. Not a lot of gaming content in this one, just some heart-felt appreciation, with an awesome crow story at the end!
May 12, 2022
226: Wolves of Northern Darkness
My last two episodes generated a ton of amazing call in's, and I'm sharing them with you here and now! In this episode we'll hear from Goblin's Henchman, Joe the Raven God, Jason of the Variety Cast, and Professor GMologist on a wide range of topics. Today we're covering Icelandic werewolves, free RPG supplements, Sigil & Shadow, and Boba Fett being the most skilled bounty hunter in the galaxy. Then, we'll finish off the episode by talking a bit about hypocrisy. Sound good? Cool. Dive on in!
May 10, 2022
225: Home Sweet Home
I finally made it to my mom's house! I received lots of lovely calls from folks wishing me well on my hectic journey, and I'll play a few of those today. Additionally, we'll talk about the awesomeness of apologies, the bad assness of Boba-Fet, the radness of Reever, and the lunacy of lifetime appointments. With me today are a few of the good guys; Jason, Joe Salvador, Free Thrall, and Goblin's Henchman. Check it out!
May 08, 2022
224: Got to Get Up to Get Down
We're all over the the place in this one folks. Karl talks a bit about session recaps and Jasons asks the hard hitting questions, but not just to me. Who else does Jason question? You'll have to tune in to find out!
May 06, 2022
223:A Connection is Made
Everything is a pattern. There are no such things as coincidences. Outer space is a lie! Today, we're connecting the dots on the entire vampire-werewolf conspiracy. The Arcane Alienist has his string map out, Jason picks up the thread, and Karl ties it all up in a nice bow. This one is the jam!
May 04, 2022
222: A Dash of This and That
We're covering a lot of topics today; capes, British literature, British litature-based RPG's, rolling, KISS, and more! To help me talk about all this, I have with me today an amazing lineup of super cool, totally rad people from all across the globe! In this episode we have; the incomparable Loco Ludus, the indefatigable Spike Pit, the incredible Julz from NZ, the innumerable Jason of the Nerd's RPG Variety Cast, and the incorruptible GMologist. Now that's one hell of a list if you ask me. Check it out!
May 04, 2022
221: Vamps Bite Back
Despite me saying nothing but nice things about werewolf's in all these episodes some harsh words were spoken about vampires in Pack Tactics, and that cannot stand. Jason and Julz had some thoughts on the vamp salt as well. If you like capes, and you should, this is the episode for you!!! Go check out Goblin's Henchman's Face Flio on DriveThruRPG and check out all #KiwiRPG goodness while you're at it!
April 30, 2022
320: Pack Tactics
The moon is out and it's time to howl!  We're once more getting wolfie with it with Free Thrall, Goblin's Henchman, and the GMologist. I also give a recap of the epic, 9-hour long, in-person finale of the Good Society rpg that just happened! Don't worry, the recap won't be as long as the session.
April 24, 2022
319: Get Your Doggies ROllin'
Dice are nice, but not everyone thinks so. Today, Jason, Karl, Goblin's Henchman and I are talking when to roll, what to roll, and how much to roll. Let the good times roll!
April 22, 2022
318: What's Old is New Again
Today I have session recaps for the last Wrath of the Righteous game I ran and a Rules Cyclopedia game in which I played. I also have some calls from folks yelling at me (not really) about the original TSR D&D games obviously being part of the OSR, and a couple calls from folks that don't think so. It's a fun episode for sure!  Gaze in wonder at this cavalcade of coolness, this avalanche of awesomeness, this lineup of absolute legends that blessed me with their voices: Spencer, Taylor, Pink Phantom, Jason, Goblin's Henchman, and Menion aka Rob
April 20, 2022
317: Howling at the Moon
The pack grows! Some of Anchor's finest called in to explain why werewolves rule, but I'm not going to tell you who they are here, you cheeky devil. You'll have to listen to find out! We also have a point/counterpoint discussion on the new Matt Colville Kickstarter. Werewolves are on the hunt in this one, folks!
April 15, 2022
316: King of the OSR
Despite the title of this episode, we're talking old school games today, not OSR games. I have calls from several of the Anchor luminaries: Jason of Nerd's RPG Variety Cast, Taylor of Clerics Wear Ring Mail, and Goblin's Henchmen. Thank you guys so much for helping me wrap my brain around these topics. This one is a good one, folks!
April 15, 2022
315: Full Moon Fever
Today, Jason, Mr. Henchman and myself are talking werewolves and werewolf movies. Jason is trying to balance the scales and he tells us why werewolves are cool!
April 12, 2022
314: On Pain and Hidden Rolls
For the first time in the history of this show, a caller thinks I had a good idea about old school RPG's and I need to talk about it! Let's also talk about our old man injuries, because through our bleeding we are one! Big thanks to all of the awesome calls from Jason, Runeslinger, Goblin's Henchman, Spike Pit and the Pink Phantom!!!
April 10, 2022
313: On Beasts and Leeches
It's my 13th episode (my three hundredth and thirteenth actually, but who's counting?) so let's get spooky! Today we're talking monsters! More specifically, we're talking vampires and werewolves. Even more specifically, Jason, Runeslinger, Spike Pit, Goblin's Henchman, and Julz tell us if they'd rather be a vampire or a werewolf.  Get Down Goblin:
April 09, 2022
312: On Werewolves and Hidden Rolls
In today's episode, Spike Pit's talking literary genres, Jason's talking werewolves, and I'm asking why thieves can't hear themselves.
April 02, 2022
311: Grab Baggin' With Karl
I throw out a lot of... topics on this show, but not all of them get as much traction as others. That said, Karl has been calling in over the past several episodes, touching on subjects that no one else really did, which is super cool. So, here are those calls! Let's get into it!
March 31, 2022
310: What Are We Protecting?
Brian's back and badder than ever! That's right, the host of the Have to Look That Up podcast and Jason of the Nerds (we'll talk about Nerds later on) RPG Variety Cast both left me interesting messages about the Good Society RPG. Then Karl, Menion, and Jason talk nice protection, or do they? Fear not, Mr. Henchman gets us back on task and refocuses the conversation. I also talk briefly about one of my early forays into fantasy writing. Intrigued? Check it out!
March 28, 2022
309: On Firestarters and Swan Boats
This one is kind of a beast, but it's worth it, I promise. Today, I review the Jane Austin inspired RPG, Good Society, and I bring a special guest on the show to talk about Firestarter. Spoilers, both things were awesome!
March 26, 2022
308: Murder Niches aka Hobo Protection

March 25, 2022
307: The Legend of Diah the Fightah
Gather 'round, my lovelies, listen to the canticle of Diah the Fighter. I don't actually sing, but Diah did hit the table last night in my first ever game of the Rules Cyclopedia version of D&D and I have lots to say about it! We're also diving back into niche protection with some amazing calls from Jogn Allen Large, Goblin's Henchman, Spike Pit and Julz from NZ.  Now if that's not a gorgeous lineup, then I don't know what is!
March 23, 2022
306: Prodigy
I realized I had more to say about my WotR session immediately after pressing "Publish" on my last episode and my buddy, Karl, gave me the perfect excuse with his awesome message. Karl's message also presented me with an opportunity to play a very cool message I have from our pal, Spike Pit for Julz from NZ. Thanks, fellas!  Oh yeah, I just watched the 1984 movie, Firestarter, and I have lots to say about it! With the remake coming out soon, I wanted to remind myself of the original. The big question is, will they play Prodigy's Firestarter in the new Firestarter movie?
March 21, 2022
305: The Ocho
I correct in egregious mistake I made in my last episode and I give a recap to my most recent session of the Pathfinder first edition adventure path, wrath of the righteous! Speech to text does not care about capitalization even though I do but I’m not gonna go back and correct all of this yet! Enjoy!Today were talking international sports thanks to some of my amazing friends;Julz, Spencer, Mr. Henchman, Spike Pit, and Karl!
March 20, 2022
303: A Gentle Ramble
Today was a rough one and I just want to chat with some of my friends about gaming and stuff. Who's down? We've got Jason, Karl, Julz, and Mr. Henchman himself chatting about world building, awesome crits, movies and sports! It's like I'm doing an RPG variety podcast or something. Hmmmm, I should trademark that idea real quick before somebody steals it.
March 16, 2022
302: Niches Get Stiches
It sounds better when you say it, especially if you mispronounce niche the way I so often do in this episode. Were also talking shields and haircuts, with calls from Jason, John, and the Green brothers. This one's a classic in the making!
March 12, 2022
301: The People's Voice Will Be Heard!
I've calculated and verified the votes. There were no hanging chads, no voter fraud, no pathetic Election Day attempted insurrection lead by a bunch of hateful simpletons. No! It was a clean election and the results are in! The session has been played. What character did I play after Templetons inevitable demise? Find out now! We also talk some sports at the end of the episode, so stay around for that!
March 11, 2022
300: Death and Balance
It's my 300th episode, so what better time to talk about death? Today we're talking Death Trap Dungeon and character death. More specifically, the rules for provisions in the Fighting Fantasy books and the decision I made that did *not* end up with a dead PC. I also have a brand new caller to the show! That's right, the Pink Phantom stops by to talk party balance and chill us all out with his smooth Southern drawl. I also have calls from some of Anchor's illuminates; such as Taylor the ring mail wearing cleric, John Allen Large, Menion aka Rob, Karl Rodriguez, and Jason Conerly.  It took us 299 episodes to get here, but here we freakin' are! Go vote on what Strong Oak, Firebrand, and Frilly Philly should do before they face the big scary dragon! The ponies need your help and TIME IS ALMOST OUT! VoTE NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!   Call in your votes here:

Can you help me decide what would be a good fit for this group? I also have some amazing calls on party balance and niche protection from the likes of BJ, John Alan Large, and Daniel Norton of the Bandit’s Keep media empire.
March 07, 2022
298: Wrath of the Death Trap
Beware, for this episode is fully trapped! First, I talk about my first ever experience with a Fighting Fantasy book that I played with the amazing Julz From NZ. Then we'll finish up with a bunch of calls from ol' Spike Pit, with all kinds of awesomeness from Joe Salvador and John Allen Large in between!
March 06, 2022
297: Magus
Today I go in to a bit of detail on my thought process while making a new character and I pose a question as to the difference between niche protection and party balance. Do you have the answer? I also go into a little bit about the Bible at the very end so that’ll be fun.
March 04, 2022

February 27, 2022
294: Hello, My Name Is Joe, and I'm A Bad Player
That's right, folks. I talk a lot about what it takes to be a good player, but it's all lies. Lies, I tell ya! My dirty little secret has had the brilliant light of truth shined upon it and I must come clean. Karl and Jason also have some Rules Cyclopedia thoughts to share. Let's see if Anchor can keep the segments straight this time. It's a good episode?
February 25, 2022
292: Legend of Diah
Today we talk about mind control, my Rules Cyclopedia character, if there's any reason to buy a shield in Rules Cyclopedia, missing players, assigning RPG homework, and The Legend of Vox Machina. Lastly, Jason  gives us a robust retrospective on the different editions of D&D throughout time. It's a real smorgasbord of an episode!  A big shout out to Jason, John and Karl for the calls! February 20, 2022
290: Missing Players, Hold Person, and Cartoons
Just me today, folks. I have a couple things I want to talk about, so I thought we'd have us a little sit down. Two situations  arose during my most recent session of Curse of the Crimson Throne that you might find interesting, and I thought I'd share them with you. Also, I  just finished watching the new Amazon Prime show, Legend of Vox Machina. It's a new cartoon based off the Critical Role actual play. You may or may not know that I'm not the world's biggest Critical Role fan, but what did I think of the show? Find out now!

Right, another fantastic session of Wrath of the Righteous in the books and I'm going to talk about it. I have calls from Karl and Jason. One of them tells the other one that he was wrong when he said he was wrong. You follow? It'll make sense when you hear it. Come on in, pull up a seat, and relax to the mellow sounds of me recording from my balcony on a beautiful, sunny day. Enjoy and Merry Christmas to one and all!  (The "war on Christmas" is a lie invented and perpetuated by right wing media outlets in America to boost their profits and foster derision in this country. It does not exist. Don't believe it for a second.)
December 25, 2021

I got some really cool messages about my discussion of Jack Vance's Dying Earth stories and I want to share them with you! We have calls from the GMologist, the Arcane Alienist, and the Shadow of the GM. So many cool monikers calling in to my show. Y'all make a Blind Rat feel so loved!

273: Voices in the Darkness
I said I wouldn't talk about this silly "debate" anymore unless people specifically wanted to. Well, turns out some folks had some stuff to say! Julz from NZ let's us know how she feels about the opposing arguments, Barney's back with a vengeance, and Safer has the perfect analogy. Granted, the opposition doesn't seem to care how good an analogy is, but we still try. We start off the show with the GMologist describing one of my nightmares in horrifying, exquisite detail.I also may have been a bit tipsy whilst recording this episode. It's going to be a fun romp!
October 18, 2021
273: The Heart of the Matter
Calls from Karl, Spencer and Jason lead me into the meat of this episode. I give my final thoughts (yeah, right) on the idea that the players and the DM are playing different games. Is that why I've heard some UK folks refer to it as a Games Master? It’s all so clear now! I've been so blind!
October 15, 2021
272: Top 5 Spookiest Monsters and The Dying Earth
Content Warning: In this episode I touch on some sensitive subjects. I talk about fictionalized sexual assault and domestic violence. If you don't want to hear about those topics, please skip the section where I discuss The Dying Earth or pass this episode by completely.  Like it says on the tin, in this episode I talk about my five favorite spooky monsters and discuss my thoughts on book 1 of the Dying Earth series. I bounced off the book the first time I tried it, what do I think now that I've finally read it/ Find out now!
October 15, 2021

September 28, 2021
261: Kept Off the Borderlands
For far too long Spencer has been cruelly kept off my show. No longer! Today, it's just Spencer and me. Damn, Spencer & Me sounds like the title for a buddy cop drama or 80's detective show. Maybe I'm thinking about Spencer for Hire. I wish I could hire Spencer. Am I rambling? I'll stop now. Enjoy the show!!!

We talk Curse of the Crimson Throne, fashion, hippopotami, video games, Pathfinder, and more. After the calls I speculate what people, living in a fantasy world, would actually know about the monsters that threaten their lives on a daily basis. It's a real ripsnortin' episode!

250: Twisted Paths
I think we could all use a respite from the min/maxing discussion, so in this episode I'll recap the second session of the Curse of the crimson Throne adventure that I'm currently playing. In short, and with no spoilers, it was awesome!!! The adventure presented us with what, in my opinion, were two unexpected and totally rad plot twists which took me completely by surprise.  WARNING: This recap contains  MAJOR spoilers for book 1 of Curse, so if you care about such things, you may not want to listen to this episode. You have been warned.
September 09, 2021
249: You Thought it was Over?
Not by a long shot. People had more to say on min/maxing and I'll be damned if I won't share their words with you. Messages of encouragement and disapproval pepper this spicy episode. I have calls from Lieren, Kit, Karl, Barney and Jason. I even have a message from Taylor that I received in an unusual manner.... and much more!  After the calls we get blue. In today's episode I discuss my first foray into Paizo's Curse of the crimson Throne adventure path and my first in-person interactions with this group. I also discuss the dismissiveness and weakness of the term "talking past each other".

S9E15 Airport Recap
I recorded most of this episode at the airport, waiting for my flight down to see my mom and sister for the first time in 19 months. Since I've been down in Southern California, I haven't had time to record or play any games. I also have a bunch of really freaking awesome call in's that I want to get to, but that will have to wait until next episode. Until then, I'l be down in Huntington Beach living my best, fully vaccinated life.

S9E14 The G.O.A.T.
Today I want to talk about the DM I most aspire to be like. I don't remember if I've mentioned them before on my show, but I want to put this out there for posterity because they were absolutely amazing. I am pretty damn sure they'll never hear this, andWe'll talk about why not later in the episode.  Who's your GOAT? Who was the person that made you want to be a DM in the first place? Let me know. And speaking of the greatest of all time, Jason was kind enough to answer my movie question, so we have that to look forward to as well. Enjoy the show!

S9E13 The Skin Stealers
I recorded half of this right after my second shot, so please forgive me if things get a little jumbled. The only game I have to talk about this episode is the latest session of the Rat Hack, the modified pathfinder 1e game I'm running for a few of my friends. I was lucky enough to get calls from Jason and Barney, so you'll here them as well. A fantastic episode all the way around.  Dark Mysteries is coming.

S9E12 Jason Yells at Joe
As promised, my 190th episode brings you almost five minutes of Jason telling me off for engaging in edition war nonsense. That said, he also tells me that I wasn't engaging in edition war nonsense, so whatcha gonna do? I also have calls from Andy and Barry, so you know it's going to be rad! Lastly, even though I talk about them before the call in's, I played in 2.5 games this week and I want to share those experiences with you. Though there's none in this episode, any fairy tale erotica I end up writing would never be hidden behind a pay wall. That is my promise to you, the listener.

S9E11 Dark Mysteries
The gauntlet has been thrown down, though not by me. Everything is within our grasp now. There is no problem we can't solve.  The impetus for this episode was a slew of very lovely messages I got about my fairy tale. A big, heart-felt thank you to Goblin's Henchman, Logan, Spencer, Barney(?), and Jason, you fellas made my day with those calls. I was nervous as heck putting out that story and I am tickled that it has received such a warm welcome!

S9E10 Story Time with Papa Joe
This one gets weird. Pretty. Damn. Weird. Before that though, I have some awesome call in's from some super rad dudes! We might even talk a little about the Rat Hack, my stripped down version of Pathfinder 1e for the mini campaign I'm currently running. Let me just add;I have it on good authority that the way I spin my yarn could frighten an easily scared 4-year old, so listen at your own peril.
April 17, 2021
S9E9 Couldn't Think of a Name
I talk about our most recent session of the Rat Hack and how to get through a session when you're not feeling very creative. Fake it 'til you make it.
April 05, 2021
S9E8 My Spooky House
Three! Three! Three games in one! In this episode, I talk about the games in which I recently played, Jason stops by to say hello, Logan makes podcasting sound very profound, and I drop something spooky at the end. What more could anyone ask for? Probably a lot, but this is what you get.
March 31, 2021
S9E7 Rad Books and Magic Calls... No, Wait!!!
I discuss the aftermath of the ripper camp raid, how the love of a child is the real treasure, and answer some super rad calls from some way cool dudes.
March 24, 2021
S9E6 Call In's & Why the Hell Am I Like This?
I got some great Collins from a few of the aluminum areas of Anchor! John and Jason drop by for a poetry slam, B.J. has something to say about human versatility, and Logan drops some science about animal intelligence. I even do a little singing.  Then, I do a mostly terrible job at explaining why I am the way I am.
March 19, 2021
S9E5 The Rat Hack aka My Version of Pathfinder
Jason, let’s see if this works😎 In this episode I talk about my latest session of my mini campaign. What happens when a blind guy tries to run 17 bad guys and one friendly unicorn on a VTT? Tune in and find out!
March 14, 2021
S9E4 How Do They Hammer with Such Tiny Arms?
I know, right? Me again already, but I HAD to put out an episode! I was too excited. Why, you ask? Because I received two call in's from the masterful Logan "Swordbreaker" Howard. Now, where I come from, when you get messages from a person of that caliber, it behooves you to put out a damn episode ASSAP. So, here it is Additionally, I wanted to answer a question that Andy Goodman asked on his wonderful podcast Expedition to the Grizzly Peaks, and then turn the question around on its' head. Also, if you want to hear about tool using dinosaurs, then you're in the right place.
March 09, 2021
S9E3 Mitigate Your Losses
In this episode I discuss the totally awesome session of League of Eternal Guardians that I got to play inAnd the almost totally awesome session of my mini campaign that I ran. I was also lucky enough to get calls from three amazing people. Thanks so much to John, Colin and Jason. You dudes are awesome!
March 07, 2021
S9E2 Dream Weaver
Today I ask you questions three. Listen well and answer me.Hear me when you’re with your dogs or driving solo in the fog. Pay attention to the road, else comes danger yet untold.
February 28, 2021
S9E1 A Whole New World
Have I already used that one? Seems I can't be bothered to check. Today I answer some rad call in's and talk about the first session of the low magic mini campaign I'm running using a deeply altered Pathfinder 1e. It's a good time! Why is it a good time? Because awesome people took time out of their day to call into my show, so you get to listen to them as well as me! Two for one!

S8E24 When Rainbows Kill
Good grief! When's the last time any of you have had to deal with Prismatic Spray at your table? As the unquestioned king of getting new players into the hobby, I discuss what a crazy spell PS is, and why PF1 is just as deadly as any of the vaunted OSR games I've played, read listened to, or watched.
February 19, 2021
S8E23 A Very Versatile Spell
A quick run down of the last session of RotRL and a "unique" new insight on a classic spell.
February 14, 2021
E8S22 Humans. Are. Not. Versatile.
Is that a click baity title enough for y'all? I go on a little rant about this whole idea that the thing that separates humans from the other species in an RPG is their versatility. It ain't. To misquote a classic, "If it breeds, we can't kill it."
February 12, 2021
S8E21 Birthday Time Warp
I'm recording this the day before my birthday, which means it's already my birthday in certain parts of the world! #worldwide A big shout out to Barry, Lieren and Jason for your super thoughtful advice on my moral quandary. Even though I don't need to, I'm going to say it anyways; go check out Shadow of the GM, Updates from the Middle of Nowhere, and Nerd's RPG Variety Cast. They're great. You're great. We're all great.  Let me also give another big, but silent, shout out the rad folks that have already called in with ideas for the random encounter and rumor tables I'm putting together. There's still time to contribute if you're feeling creative. The game starts on Feb. 20th, so as long as you get your suggestion in before then, it'll be on the table. Imagine it, an OSR grognard inspired random encounter table thrown at a bunch of new school players. It'll be a bloodbath, right?

S8E20 A Cry for Help
I’m stuck in a quagmire folks; The moral kind. What’s a dungeon master to do? Help me, Anchor-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope. I mean, you’re not really my *only* hope but it sure would be awesome if you could help out. Thanks for the call, Jason. You’re awesome! Oh yeah, I also talk about my last session of our Rise of the Runelords game.
January 30, 2021
S8E19 World Building Ramble

January 23, 2021
S8E18 Love You to Death
I felt that the title of the greatest goth metal song, by the greatest goth metal band (Type O Negative) would be the perfect fit to talk about my most recent session of Rise of the Runelords. It was a silken pink bloodbath. Also, Type O rules!  As always (at least lately); here there be spoilers!
January 20, 2021
S8E17 A Whole New World
Today I talk more about Mystera and all its' beautiful weirdness and give a rundown on what happened in last night's awesome session of Rise of the Runelords. Did my new character, Alastair Bronzebarrow, work the way I thought he would? Did the battle play out the way I hoped? What do Jason C and Rob C (no relation) have to say? Answers to these questions and so much more await you!
January 15, 2021
E8S16 Getting to Know the Known World
I know, another episode from me already? Yup. I love it when folks call in because it gives me stuff to talk about. I also talk about my new favorite old setting.
January 13, 2021
S8E15 Rising from the Ashes
I received some pushback from my last episode and let it not be sad that I do not give my detractors a voice on my platform. The majority of this episode is dedicated to talk about my new character.
January 09, 2021
S8E14 Trumpsters Are Cultists & the Death of Puck
What happened yesterday was started by, encouraged by, and supported by Donald Trump, the worst president this country has ever had. If someone supports Donald Trump, then they are a cultist. They're not a part of a political party. They're members of a very dangerous cult; blindly believing whatever their cult leader tells them. They should be ashamed of themselves, but they're all too stupid, self centered, and selfish to feel shame. I also talk about the near TPK we suffered last night. Feel free to skip the first 3 minutes if you don't want to hear my rant.
January 08, 2021
S8E13 A Short Episode After a Long Day

December 23, 2020
S8E10 Threepeat
Third time's the charm. Well, this is only the second time, but two out of three ain't bad. Meatloaf rules! Herein I ACTUALLY tell you about my recent time with  Rise of the Runelords. We're deep into book 5 now and it's still all the way awesome! This was our last session before the New year, so I guess I'll have to come up with something else to talk about for a few weeks. Oh, and I once again (for the first time) tell you about the one feat I might ban in the next campaign of Pathfinder that I run.  I also speak a bit about what plans I may have for the New Year. No, not New Year's Resolution. Those are stupid and doomed to fail. Just something that's running around inside of my head.
December 18, 2020
S8E9 Two is One & One is None
I didn't think of the title until I was done recording but I have to give a big shout out to ol' Spikepit for introducing me to that pithy little saying.  Today I talk about the two, count 'em two, sessions of Rise of the Runelords that I played in since my last episode. Later, I postulate about the Pathfinder feat I might ban in my next campaign.  I'm sure you've already noticed, but I am the world's worst numberer. My episode numbers are all over the place to the point where it basically don'y even matter anymore. I'm not going to change anything, just thought I'd bring it up😎
December 11, 2020
S5E8 The Most Dangerous Part of RPG's
I talk about the book I just finished reading, my latest session of Rise of the Runelords, and talk about the unquestionably deadliest part of any RPG.

Jason's smart enough to get the people he wants to talk to on his show and I'm not, so this is what you get🤣 You're already listening to Nerd's RPG Variety Cast, so you don't need me to tell you how great of a show it is.
November 20, 2020
S8E6 TPK or Win the Day?
My retelling of the conclusion to book 4 of Paizo's amazing adventure path, Rise of the Runelords. As always, major spoilers abound. Is this the best pre-written, fantasy campaign of all time?? Yes. Have I played them all? No.
November 19, 2020
S8E4 I Got Spikepitted!!!
A fairly short and confuse one for me tonight. Thanks to Karl for the info and call in’s. You’re a cool dude. Be good to each other out there folks.
November 06, 2020
S8E3 Rise of the Dragon Plains
The first 2 minutes of this episode is a highly charged political rant, so feel free to skip it. I had to record it multiple times because the first couple of takes were too... much. This is the toned down version. I put the rant at the start so anyone can skip over it and get right into the rest of the non political episode.  Cheers! I recount the three, count 'em THREE, games I played in this week! As always, there will be major spoilers of the Rise of the Runelords campaign.  Thanks for the awesome song Loco Ludus and thanks for asking a great question GM Shadow. If you don't know, now you know.
November 02, 2020
S8E2 We saved Sandpoint!
Just a quick re-cap of this week's Rise of the Runelords game. A few folks have mentioned that they enjoy hearing about my sessions, but these re-caps are really more for future Joe than anything else. I think it'll be cool to have a saved memory of my first ever complete Pathfinder Adventure Path.

S8E1 It Has Begun!
It's official. I am, once again, part of the working world. No longer will I have endless free time to plum the depths of gaming minutia. This makes me sad. This opportunity I have is really amazing though. I'll be working directly to better the lives of people. I'm stoked! I'm also stoked about these two messages. A wicked warm congratulatory message from Spencer and an explosive thought experiment from the ever creative Shawn of An Eldrich Dream Games. Thank you both so very much.
October 20, 2020
S7E12 The Final Countdown
The countdown to my first day on the new job has begun in earnest and I wanted to get in one more episode before the big day. I have a lot to say about last night's totally kick ass session of Rise of the Runelords (major spoilers for Book 4) and I have two awesome messages from Shawn and Jason. Is that one message from each? Two messages each? Some other ratio of messages to caller? Answers to these Earth shattering questions, and more, can be found right here, right now!

The tale of my most recent session of our Rise of the Runelords campaign. There are a couple of spoilers for the adventure path, so listen at your own risk. I have a slew of voice messages about my last episode, but I wasn't in the right head space to play them in this episode. I'll get to them next time. I promise.
October 01, 2020
S7E8 The Sleeper Must Awaken
Jason of Nerd's RPG Variety Cast was kind enough to leave me some messages about the upcoming Dune movie. Turns out I have stuff to say about it, too. With the world being as messed up and scary as it is today, this quote from Dune is more true now than ever before; "Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me."

S7E7 You Thought That was Big?
Here I go again on my own. Going down the only road I've ever known. Although, unlike a drifter, I apparently was not born to walk alone because a bunch of super rad people called me. So I made up my mind to share them with you.  I got messages about story games from Barney, jargon from Colin, and labels from John. Most importantly of all, I received some whispered words of wisdom from the inscrutable Nate Gillbreath.
September 29, 2020
S7E6 A Girthy Number of Messages
Folks had stuff to say and here it is. By folks I mean Jason, Barney and Karl. Luckily, none of these message  consist of anyone correcting me, disagreeing with me, or talking trash to me. S5E11 Not RPG-A-Day
Yeah.. So...  This was supposed to come out yesterday, but I got caught up watching the return of the NBA. I love basketball and it was awesome watching a major U.S. sports league show the amount of class, compassion and social awareness that the NBA showed last night. Anyway, enough about sports ball. This show is supposed to be about roleplaying games, right? Well, I have some stuff to say about the super rad Rise of the Runelords game I'm playing in and the Pathfinder 1e West Marches game I'm trying to put together. I also have some great messages from  cool people.  Big thanks to: Barney: Loco Ludus podcast John: Reed Dice Diaries RPG podcast Jason: Nerd's RPG Variety Cast podcast Jef:: Tome of all Dooms podcast

Let me tell you all about them! We end the episode with a message from Spencer, of the Keep Off the Border Lands podcast, that I really hope each and every one of you carries around in your mind for a long time, because I know Spencer's words will stick with me for the rest of my life.

S5E6 Jawin' with Judd
I was introduced to Judd Karlman of the terrific Daydreaming About Dragons podcast through Andy's awesome Expedition to the Grizzly Peaks show, where Andy interviewed Judd. Here are a few of the really cool things Judd had to say.  This isn’t an interview. Check out the Daydreaming About Dragons podcast if you're not already. It's really good👍 Thanks so much Judd for all these great call in's. This episode literally could not have happened without you.

S5E1 My Week in Gaming
In this episode I talk about my first session in the Rise of the Runelords campaign that I just joined and the final session of my 20th level Pathfinder 1e 3-shot I've been running for a few of my friends. Both were epic. Can I convey that epicness? Doubtful. Lastly, I have three absolutely lovely congratulatory call in's from three super rad individuals.  I touch lightly on several topics in in this episode and if there's anything anyone would like me to expand upon, please let me know by leaving me a voice message on Anchor or finding me on Twitter: @rat_blind Thank you so much to: Spencer from Keep Off the Borderlands podcast Jon from the RDD RPG podcast Daren "RFED" Green

S4E40 Hall of Game
Wherein I talk about the second session of my 20th level game of Pathfinder 1e and share some awesome gaming news I recently received. The title is an E 40 album, which I felt was appropriate considering the number of the episode.  The first 3 minutes or so of today's episode are very political and contain no gaming. Feel free to skip ahead or skip this episode entirely.  A big, big thank you to today's callers: Goblin's Henchmen from the fantastic Goblin's Henchmen podcast John from the wonderful RDD RPG podcast that he co hosts with his wife Hannah Stay safe out there folks. The virus is still out there. If you do go out to protest be sure to wear protective clothing.
