Lord help us all when the telephone arrives in Walnut Grove. It doesn't take long before Harriet Oleson starts to abuse the line by listening on the private conversations of the townsfolk. And it's unfortunately Alice Garvey who has to deal with fallout when news of a previous marriage is shared with her family. Unsure of how to handle the situation Jonathan Garvey leaves and tries to confront the past. Meanwhile, Albert along with the help of Herman the mouse and Bill Anderson, Walnut Grover's new Banker, they set a plan in motion to teach Harriet a lesson about the consequences of eavesdropping. A new pop up prayer meeting has been invited, by Harriet Oleson, into Walnut Grove led by the somewhat charismatic Reverend Danforth. It's the usual run of the mill gathering until Reverened Danforth demonstrates his ability to cure those who are suffering from an affliction. He makes a wheelchair bound women walk, a man toss aside his crutches and a blind woman see. But what he can't do is cure a ruptured appendix....but he can use his charm to sway his listeners to believe what he wants them to hear. The only people who aren't falling for this are: The Ingalls, The Gravey's, Doc Baker and Reverend Alden. Because of this distraction, Reverend Alden is now in jeopardy of losing his position at the Walnut Grove Church. An out of town delivery brings Charles to the tent of Reverend Danfoth where he sees a repeat of miracles performed on the same people he witnessed back in Walnut Grove. Which leads to a confrontation I've been praying for. Did Harriet Oleson forget how serious having acute appendicitis is? Anyone else happy that Anna's name got dropped and Reverend Alden still acknowledges his nuptials? Will Matthew Dobbs start to trust science more even if it still comes out of Doc Baker's mouth?

An aging wrestler, Milo Stavroupolius, is once again out on another job of swindling the country folks with his shady manager and brutish counterpart. Sadly, this is the only job Milo can do that gets him the money needed to take care of his wife. It's a routine job that is until the newest contender happens to be from one certain little town of Walnut Grove: Jonathan Garvey. And the town is excited, so much that everyone heads to the fight and places bets. Milo receives devastating news causing him to turn over a new leaf and do the right thing. Milo gets a moment to relive his glory days, come out as a hero, but doing the right thing will come at a steep price. How long has Milo been working with his shady manager/promoter Jimmy Hart? With this being a somewhat Jonathan Garvey centric episode, Why was Ali G only in ONE scene? Does this episode have an happy ending?

It's Halloween in Walnut Grove and, unfortunately, Laura and Albert have decided not to recycle their old Lake Kezia Monster costume. Instead the duo has opted to dress up as someone's culture. In preparation for the long evening at Nellie's Halloween costume party, the two are sent to take a nap. And it's in Albert's dream we witness not only how incredible "realistic" Laura's costume making skills are but also we see how Albert was able to save himself, Laura and a made up town. What a waste of a Halloween episode. How many chickens did Laura need to make that headdress? Why couldn't we have had a mystery episode that took place at the party? If you had to pick between this episode and The Godsister to watch on repeat, what would you do?

Reverend Alden has always watched over his congregation in Walnut Grove with nothing but admiration. And while none of that has changed what has is his attitude when he is told he is loved "the way a woman loves a man." by this episode's resident widow: Anna Craig. We start to see an another side of the Reverend we've never been privy to. It's also a side that seems to clash with Harriet's feeling of how a Reverend should behave. In fact Harriet goes out of her way to prevent this romantic relationship from happening. Even going as far as contacting Reverent Alden's Manager/Superiors/ General Synod of the Church to try and get him cancelled. While the church does send someone to investigates Harriet's slanderous accusations, it's Harriet who is forced to deal with her own feelings of love and church. How long has Anna Craig been a widow living in Walnut Grove? Does Harriet need a reminder of what "making love" actually entails? Does Mr. Oleson know much of Harriet's life before their meeting?
