While in college I took a course called Sociology of Film and it was awesome, minus the political whiteness and racial stereotypes that the so called feminist professor who taught the class failed so miserably at addressing.  Anyways if I was to teach the course this is how it might sound.

Wow what an autobiography about Joe Baker III! This young man tells the His story of the journey he made into the life of dealing drugs and young black male survival, which eventually landed him in prison serving a ten year sentence to a complete 180-degree change..  I wont spoil the book but “The Life of Boo Baker” is a fascinating story that is sure to keep your attention as you seek to know about the intriguing life of Joe Baker III. 

Winner of the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction.  Ta-Nehisi Coates is the author of New York Times bestseller Between the World and Me.

This book penned as a letter to his 15 year old son takes a look into the authors emotional journey into adulthood and professionalism.  Although the writing speaks to his son it breaks through the 4th wall to address the racism in America and its true impact on the psyche of the African diaspora. 

Is time relevant?  when we think about our life are we maximizing the time we have access to in order to produce and be the best self?

What did George Orwell the author of Animal farm mean when he said "We of the sinking middle class may sink without further struggles into the working class where we belong, and probably when we get there it will not be as dreadful as we feared, for, after all, we have nothing to lose"? If we consider the strategic thinking of systemic oppression then this statement can apply to how society has shaped itself  and maybe we should blame the knowledge of the so called literary giants on critical race theory.  Follow along with this discussion to add your input.
