Horsey Burnout
When someone say's "That horse loves its job" and "That horse hates [fill in the blank]". How much of that is their genetics shining through OR the sum of their experiences while they did the thing they love or hate? I'm sharing how I stay aware and make a conscious effort to make sure that the horse's sum of his experiences under saddle while in training is positive. So that hopefully he will enjoy or at least be content, performing his "job".

Not just "Sweaty Saddle blankets"
"That horse just needs sweaty saddle blankets"
"He just needs miles with sweaty blankets"
Variations of this phrase I hear all the time. Ill be honest....it makes my skin crawl when I hear it.
If that horse is spending long lengths of time and effort practicing things that make him upset and things that aren't giving him more understanding or meaning, he's going to end up a worse horse after all those "sweaty saddle blankets".
I've had a fair amount of these horses come through training. It takes way longer to undo the miles of "bad sweaty blankets".
Here's what you should be looking for instead of just "sweaty saddle blankets".

But there's one piece that can literally make or break your run that I haven't heard anyone talk about.... Working the herd to make that perfect cut. Listen in to hear my secrets to making that perfect cut!

There are two types of horses in the world....

Pressure and Release isn't all you need, there's more to it!
Pressure and release,
Make the hard thing hard and the right thing easy,
Reward the try,
Some the the great horse training one liners that apply to the basic principle of horse training, apply pressure then release it when you get what you want. But is it REALLY that simple??
I explain why it is not in this episode and the 2 major things you can be missing in the application of this principle.
