Vicious Felonies A Law & Order: SVU Podcast

We finally made it to an episode with Diane Neal (pre-Novak) so of course, we brought back fan-favorite guest that Jordan girl, We talk about dogs helping us like people more, Jordan being Peter Scanavino’s number one fan, O'Halloran, the great writing in this episode, various episodes we like, Grease 2, thoughts on Cabot vs Novak, The Jordan’s wanting a Law & Order: At the bar or Law & Order: At the Deli show, and Jordan gives lots of recommendations. There’s also a small surprise at the very end!

This episode was recorded in mid-May before our break. And it’s finally coming to your ears! We’re back and we talk about wanting a young Munch show, video games, the foster system, Cragen with kids, Cabot giving Glenn an out, the messed-up reason why the victim was punished, trying to throw off the trial, Cabot shifting the blame in the final moments, and much more!

We dive into Season 3, Episode 8 "Inheritance" on this episode, which Jordan and Crissy both liked more than they remembered. We discuss obvious temporary tattoos on the show, potential hate crimes, whether or not Dr. Huang speaks Chinese, a biracial perp & how being biracial affected him, and if violent genes can be passed down to family members. Mariska gives an outstanding performance in the final scene, which we (of course) fangirl over. 

This week we discuss season 3, episode 7 “Sacrifice” that features guest stars Mark Paul Gosselar and Elizabeth Banks as a married couple of porn stars. We talk about lack of health insurance as a plot device (and how we’re tired of it), the ongoing ‘does Olivia actually like pop (soda) or not?’ saga, Stabler’s coffee habits, the detectives lack of sensitivity to certain issues, and more!  

The SVU squad is joined in episode 3.06 “Redemption” by Detective John Hawk aka a random character introduced to give Stabler a taste of his own medicine. As usual, we have opinions! We discuss Stabler in a bad mood, the detectives drinking on the job, repercussions to putting an innocent man in prison, the ethics of letting a bad dude fall to his death, the Huang-Stabler Dynamic and more in this episode. 

We are discussing season 3 episode 5 Tangled. We talk about our love of Stabler, Cragen’s involvement/comparing him to current season Olivia, Crissy asks Jordan if he’d murder for her (spoiler: no), Cabot’s perfect line delivery, the board of photos, great Munch Fin scenes, our tabby sits in, and our favorite writers! 

We jump back into our regular recaps with Season 3’s Rooftop. We chat about the Fin Stabler dynamic, eating in the show, school musicals, good character moments, a show about young Fin, Malik’s character, the media’s involvement in cases, Fin’s unique perspective of both sides, serial killer facts, and more! 

We are here to discuss Stabler’s return in his new series Law & Order: Organized Crime. Obviously, Crissy and Jordan are huge Stabler fans so they had to discuss both episodes of the crossover event.  Jordan does a deep dive into the writers, creators, and developers of the show. We discuss Stabler’s Italian, favorite new characters, some choices we found strange, poorly photoshopped pictures in media, why Rome, and how well we did with our predictions!

We are joined (in person!) with Nick Holtzer & Emily Samara to discuss Stabler’s return to SVU. Crissy and Jordan are huge Stabler fans and Nick and Emily, well...aren’t. We talk about how fast-paced the episode is, Rome, The Stabler family (especially Eli and Kathy),  mentioning calling Nick out in a previous episode, where Stabler’s character will go next, comparing him to Amaro, the newer characters, EO’s confrontation in the hospital, obviously we find a way to mention Casey Novak and past ADA’s, we do bring up some moments from OC, season 22 overall, ratings, and how soon we think EO will be more than friends!

Cragen’s on the case for Season 3’s third episode, “Stolen.” This is a shorter one but not so sweet in content. We discuss character choices, the 3-part structure of this episode, Cragen on the case (we even make a little theme song), overexplaining “triple dipping”, and the awful situation everyone is in for this episode. 

This week we go over the second episode in Season 3 “Wrath.” This is a strong episode that does some retconning. We chat about Stabler being protective, scams, door buzzing, Cragen’s cot, Cragen standing up for Benson, Huang analyzing Benson, subtle details, the pacing of the episode, Sleazy Lawyer Guy, and more!

Jumping into Season 3 with the opener “Repression” We get right to it with if we’ve seen the episode, a red herring, weird body language, the mother being put in a tough decision, the case being too easy right away, memories we don’t really have, relying on instincts, the grandpa’s weird unrelated butterfly obsession and more!

We end Season 2 with our season wrap-up. Like last time we go over our MVPs and ratings for the whole season. We also compared them to season 1. We even share some fashion and our top 3 moments. Season 2 is a transitional season in a lot of ways but we still find it more superior to Season 1. Then we make our official predictions as to what will happen with Stabler returning. Which lasts for the last 30 minutes or so of the episode. Jordan makes a passionate plea (half-joking)  about his opinions on Stabler being right and it being okay to be wrong. All in all, this is a fun listen to prepare for Season 3 and Stabler coming back in April!

We are here to discuss Season 2’s finale Scourge! We discuss a husband’s tragic reaction to losing his wife, a snooty rich lady who gets in Olivia’s way,  the squad’s skepticism with psychological professionals, noir lighting/great shots, our favorite types of episodes, Stabler rolling up his sleeves, and more on this highly disturbing episode.

We get together this week to go over episode 219 Parasites. It’s a quicker one. Jordan and Crissy discuss season 2 episode 13 “Victims.” Eric Roberts who has a million credits is in this one. Ann Dowd is also featured in this episode. We thought this episode had a lot of nice cinematic qualities. We discuss scars being badass, the typical boss/landlord conversation, some unclear details, most people knowing an Accord is a Honda, Elliot going off the handle, a lot of Tension with a capital T in the episode, storylines that other shows would save for later seasons, discuss the law and what it means for certain suspects, mise en scène, seasons 1-12 feeling like a more 70’s gritty New York, and much more!

We do a quick discussion on Season 22's premiere. 

We talk about an episode that we barely remember seeing before because as Jordan puts it, “it blows ass.” The one in question is season 2 episode 12 Secrets. We talk about sex baby (cause of the episode), Jordan shows Crissy a picture of Wendy West, Arthur W. Forney being a swell guy, cat humor, having the components of a good episode but none of the substance, we have a running five guys burger chain joke, Munch never chasing anyone, John Mulaney, threats of the health department or other organization to get information, Jordan begs to stop talking about the episode, and much more!

This episode is about 211 Abuse. We chat about Hayden Panettiere, the interesting arc of one of the writers, wishing for references to other episodes, episodes with the same plot but different outcomes, the confusing cast of characters in the case, who the singer would reflect in real life, tutors, not mentioning how much Ashley called Olivia, Munch talking about NSYNC, lesbian vibes, romance, ships in the show, Casey Novak’s perfection, Olivia’s weird recurring relationship with journalists, us having different opinions on a scene between Benson and Stabler, the absent father that gets no blame, and much more!

Another episode on the best show. We’re back to talk about season 2! We’re dusting off the cobwebs and getting back to this thing called a podcast. Jordan has a theory about the title that he forgets to mention. Crissy and Jordan discuss Season 1’s Munch heavy episode “Remorse.” This is the 20th episode of the season.
