Anna Therese Day’s eleven-year journey from raw political science graduate to multi-award-winning, international investigative reporter andfilmmaker is as serendipitous as it is unique. Inspired by the International Anti-Corruption Conference he attended, sports journalist Manuel Medina struck up a conversation with a ticket scalper he kept seeing at games in Tijuana and uncovered the extent of sports corruption in his city and beyond. The first episode of The Journey to the Truth podcast series will focus on the book: My Fourth Time We Drowned, written by the award-winning journalist Sally Hayden. A book where Sally tells of her three-year investigation into the thousands of refugees who are kept indefinitely in appalling conditions in Libyan detention centres. At the mercy of the EU-backed Libyan coastguard – and the smugglers, traffickers and swindlers associated with it – desperate refugees depend on the goodwill of international agencies, and an international community that turns a blind eye.
