Journey to Wherever

By Journey to Wherever
Journey to Wherever is a weekly podcast by two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, getting together each week to record discussions that shouldn't be left unsaid. Daniel Ribeiro and Ivan Siladji discuss many topics from lifestyle, philosophy, parenting, life's general hypotheticals and business & entrepreneurship. Each episode is sure to take you on a journey filled with laughs, debates and (maybe) tears. We believe that deep conversations facilitate ones quest to better understand ourselves and others on this journey to being greater humans.

Ep095 That was not cool! (Lockdown episode)
As the boys often like dipping into their nostalgic minds, they reminisce about all that was cool back then that isn’t so cool now. Turtle necks, baggy jeans, yoyo’s, early 2000’s mullets, silky boxer shorts, old school video games, and a whole lot more! The question this ultimately leads us to ask is - is what would you bring back?  Enjoy and have a laugh. Fingers crossed we’ll be back in the studio soon! Enjoy the show! Ep092 Experience Trump's Everything!
Equipment: $100 Editing $250 Insurance $95 10 years of expertise $10,000 There is a reason why some people can charge the amount they do for the time they spend on a task. Even if a task takes an hour, often the fees associated with that hour are in the 1000's. We believe it's because you are paying for the years of gained knowledge and expertise to be able to produce the output within that time. In this week's episode we explore what it takes to be able to charge the amount you want, how to go about doing it, and the justification that makes it fair. Ep091 Should you online date?
This week's episode is our guide to online dating. We like to think we can talk about most things pretty well, but inline dating? We met some people who are running into challenges with the online dating scene, so we stepped in to help. We explore the world of online dating. The wonders, challenges, and the ever accepting nature of it. It certainly doesn’t carry the stigma that it used to. Is finding a partner harder than ever before, or do we overthink the nature of it? Should we strip it back and go back to basics? Come on this JTW ride, enjoy!! Ep090 Floyd Mayweather took some punches!
Let's be honest, we've all been there at some point, having to bite our tongue and pay our dues, giving credit where it's due. Sometimes we don't like the fact that we have to give such credit - it can hurt our egos, or worse off, you really just don't like the person who deserves the praise. In this week's show we explore what it means to take the win like a champ, especially when you deserve it. But, like always, we play the devil's advocate and for those that act like a little b**ch, we unwrap how you should go about taking the loss. After the recent Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather boxing match / fight, we even had to take one on the chin and give credit where it's due. Let us take you on the journey in this week's episode to discover what it really means to give credit where credit is due. Ep089 Is he risking his legacy? - Floyd Mayweather
In today’s show we breakdown the madness that is Logan Paul vs the “retired” / GOAT of boxing, Floyd “money” Mayweather. The boys did a show on this topic about 6 months ago but it was more about the legitimacy of boxing. Now that the fight is actually going ahead, in this episode we breakdown the lunacy of it all and we discuss who we think wins and what the potential outcomes and ripple effects this may have, moving forward.  We also touch a bit on the newly announced Jake Paul vs Former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley. Ep088 Fact check - Are superstitions real?
What role, if any, do superstitions have in affecting our daily lives? Although Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) may have played a part in the formation of rituals and practices people still follow to this day, we explore whether there is any scientific basis to them, or have folktales simply stuck around and become believable? In this week we explore the origins of superstitions, discuss the many superstitions that a lot of us follow each day in our lives as well as share some of our own. Ep087 They want to cancel Comedy?
In today’s show we discuss the terrifying possibility of the death of modern day comedy due to Cancel Culture! If you were lucky enough to exist in a time to watch the comedy greats like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chapel, Carl Barron, Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Joey Diaz, and many more comedic legends, then you are lucky. Let's not forget also the comedy movies like Major Pain, White Chicks and the likes of Tropic Thunder, many of which quite simply couldn’t be made in today’s ridiculous Cancel Culture society. Today’s show is all about acknowledging the un-acknowledged... the 2nd placers... the quiet achievers, the underdogs! Everyone will relate to this one. Everyone at some stage in their life has had the glory swept from under their feet, they’ve had all their hard work taken for granted and given to someone else. Ep085 Never say these words to anyone else
In this week's episode we explore many of the things you should never say to someone, and we go ahead and say them aloud for you! Admit it, there has been at least one time where you've wanted to speak out aloud what you've said in your head about someone, but because of the setting you're in, you can't. Picture this - you're in a work meeting and someone says something stupid, or you're on a sports team and a parent gives a suggestion that does no one any favours, or maybe you're at a family event and you want to yelll out what everyone else is thinking, but you just can't get yourself to muster the courage to do it - this week we discuss such situations, and voice what you've always wanted to say. As always, the JTW guys have you covered. We will say it all for you. Enjoy the show! Ep084 The Olympics - Should these sports go ahead?
Let’s be honest, the events/sports in the Olympic Games have changed a bit. The criteria is a little left field and if you took a deep dive into the list of sports, you’ll scratch your head wondering why?? Olympic Games were very gladiatorial like, athletic and immensely prowess. They still are, but.... it’s changed a bit. In this show, instead of completely criticising the sports, we decided to make an inclusive effort of the type of events that should be included. Come for the ride and watch the brilliant minds of the JTW boys deep dive into the future events of the Olympic Games. No spoilers, so just have a listen!!! Enjoy! Enjoy the show! Ep083 Deadly Australian Outback - Will we survive?
For some time now Daniel and Ivan have wanted to go on a camping trip. But with two busy lives and small children to take care of amongst businesses and other things, let’s just say it hasn’t been easy to plan. Nonetheless they discuss the possible future camping trip and the dangers of the Australian outback, including the Brown Snake, The Red-bellied Black snake and the Sydney Funnel Web Spider. We also revisit some great Aussie content creators including Scotty's Gone Walkabout, Erik Off-Track and Chris Bamman. The land down under is actually quite dangerous but it shouldn’t stop you from exploring it... apart from a few venomous spiders and aggressive snakes and crocodile infested waters.... it’s actually completely fine!!! We might be biased but we reckon it's the best outback in the world! Enjoy the show! Ep082 Let's order some Uber
In today’s show the boys explore the world of Uber delivery people. Is it as bad as what everyone makes it out to be? Why such bad stigma? If there are opportunities at hand to make a living or even some extra coin then why do we shit on it? There are other jobs too right? There has to be a reason for the demand!  The boys also explore the world of burgers and Daniel tells the story of the guy across the road who has made a business of modifying push bikes for delivery guys! Ep081 Fact check - is The Law of Attraction real?
In this week's episode of Journey to Wherever, episode 81, Daniel poses the question.... is the thought process of the Law of Attraction, visualisation and manifestation a dangerous thought pattern? You may have read The Secret, The Power, The Hero, or another similar book and we all know that positive thinking is a fantastic and crucial mindset, but is it the only key to one's success?  Many moons ago, Ivan was once this type of thinker and offers a very insightful perspective. On the flip, Daniel seems to think that if manifestation of positive thoughts are your only way to success then you're in deep trouble. Listen in to understand the potential downfalls and traps that you might get yourself in if the law of Attraction is your way of thinking! Enjoy!! Ep080 Defining Roles & Titles - What's in a name?
In today’s show the boys define their roles for the listeners.... kind of! What defines roles and their fancy titles. They also discuss the human superpower of “voice”; a singing voice, a voice over artist, radio host, narrators, and let's not forget, the best and sexiest accent. Is it French, Aussie, Scandinavian, Irish? Find out on this weeks show. We explore how good would it be to possess such talent of a great voice. Ep079 Sympathy vs Empathy - Does sympathy make things worse?
In today’s show the boys discuss the impacts of a non-genuine sympathetic response to any occasion. Why empathy in general is a good baseline approach to most situations. Shouldn’t sympathy come from within? Like more genuine? But even if it’s genuine, does displaying too much sympathy exacerbate the situation? We understand sympathy has its place and it shouldn’t be suppressed in very obvious situations, but, what are the impacts of not displaying enough sympathy? In a very conversational and light hearted chat the boys dig this one up JTW style. Enjoy! Ep078 Being Content vs Always Looking To Win
We all strive to get to the top of the mountain or the best in our field, wherever and whatever that is. We want to be the best in the game or maybe you just want your personal development to be at its best at all times regardless of the comparison to others. But what happens when you’ve reached the top, you're wearing silky pyjamas, travelling on a yacht and eating the most finest foods? What happens when your life is so fulfilled with happiness and joy, your life with your family and children are at its most joyous? What happens if it’s still important to remain on top? Do you tip toe around personal development to remain complacent and comfortable or do you consciously remove yourself from the fruits of your labour to have the drive to remain on top? Does one envy a new challenger to your throne? Do you accept the challenge and chase all comers? Or do you hide behind your success, use your knowledge of your industry to allow yourself not be challenged! Is there anything wrong with being comfortable and using your knowledge of the game to remain unchallenged? Or should one always seek the challenge so that they can eventually meet their match and go out on their throne so to speak? The JTW boys are self-proclaimed professional fence sitters, but today they firmly sit on one side of the fence! They’re back!!! I’m true JTW style! Ep077 Rapid Fire Q&A - We Ask Each Other Questions
In today’s show, the boys throw each other rapid fire questions that would, on a normal day on the show, require a rabbit hole of a nose dive into a deep and meaningful conversation.  If you want to know more about your hosts and how they think, this will be a great episode to tune into. By answering these abstract, random, and often deep questions, we discovered many would be worth a deep dive for a future full length episode. For now, enjoy this fire round style show of the Journey to Wherever equivalent of an AMA (as me any anything). Ep076 Vikings - Season 7?
In this week's episode we boys discuss what is arguably one of the most underrated TV series of our generation - Vikings; what a show! Sadly the series finale played last week, or did it? Uncovering some of the potential hidden storylines, the boys discover an opportunity where season 7 could be a very real possibility.  We explore the ins-and-outs of the entire series and opinions of the questionable final episode. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, maybe it’s just hope... but the boys feel it is definitely not over. Listen and find out how. Ep075 Robots - Can humans fall in love with Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
After watching the Sci-Fi dystopian Ex Machina, Ivan poses a very interesting and highly probable question with regards to the impending General Artificial Intelligence and robot centric world we will face - could humans fall in love with Robots? We explore the dynamics at play, including conception, rights of robots, responsibilities of humans, the importance of ensuring robots and General AI have evolved to align with human values and morals, what consciousness would like for robots and a whole lot more. If you're into a good, deep thinking, hypothetical conversation, still based on quite probable events in the near future, this is the show for you. Enjoy!! Ep074 The FATBERG - Jobs we DON'T envy!
Ever heard of a FATBERG? In today’s show the boys discuss their personal preferences of the jobs they DON'T envy. There are certain industries and jobs that just make your spine tingle, sometimes there just simply gross. Other times certain jobs have just too much pressure and stress. You might find yourself being yelled at! Stuck in a drain! Working alongside a boss who stresses you out! Covered in bugs or maybe just elbow deep in grease (or pop)! A light hearted discussion in their own special JTW way. Enjoy! Ep073 Francis Ngannou - A Story of Desire
In today’s show the boys discuss the true pros and cons of achieving the ultimate desires. A podcast inspired by the story of The number one contender of the UFC heavyweight division, Francis Ngannou. A terrifying heavyweight with a highlight reel of spectacular knockouts, will be challenging Stipe Miocic for the title on March 27. This softly spoken heavyweight beautifully describes his 14 month refuge from Cameroon to France. A desire to train in boxing. A desire that took him on a journey of great sacrifices and death defying acts. An amazing story described in detail on the Joe Rogan Experience. Nonetheless the boys ask the question.... are desires really worth the squeeze. Francis’ story is one of thousands that have a happy ending, which makes you ask the question whether desires and their actions are fully analysed and quantified. How much do your dreams and desires impact others? The question is worth asking, ultimately dream chasing is encouraged but should we consider others in our attempt to fulfil what possesses our mind for true happiness! Enjoy!! Ep072 It's normal to think this way?
Well, today’s show is a little different. More like a chat between brother-in-laws. For a while now Daniel had noticed that Ivan is on a different level of thinking. Some would say, vague, not tuned in, off with the fairies.... but nah... Daniel knows Ivan well and he knew that wasn’t the case, if anything it was opposite. Have you ever felt the need to reinvent yourself?  Ever felt like you wanted to explain your state of mind but can’t even begin to comprehend it yourself. Some would say a feeling of lack of purpose or not being challenged enough. Feeling like everything is too easy? So many things to explore? Crave the peace and quiet? Maybe you want to disconnect? Do you ever feel like you're craving that feeling of being pushed to a whole new pace. Is it possibly a mid-life crisis??? A lot of the above doesn’t really flow. The truth is... it doesn’t have to. A state of mind is supposed to be explored and not suppressed. Let’s just say we wouldn’t be surprised if Ivan goes walkabouts in the bush with his son exploring nature, whilst completing complex mathematics and re-designing his personal brand whilst simultaneously joining Elon Musk's exposition to planet Mars. A deep chat about life. Enjoy. Ep071 The current divergence of human evolution
This week's show is not what we expected, at least not what Daniel thought it would be. What started off as a brief discussion about the impending probable colonization of Mars took a very quick but related right turn and explored the very likely realisation that human beings as we know them today are in the midst of an evolutionary change. This took us down the rabbit hole, and as true JTW fans would appreciate, we dived deep into some very likely possibilities predicting the fate of mankind, the changes that humans could be facing genetically and ended up very close to uncovering what we believe to be the purest form of human communication. If you like deep discussions, twists and turns, abstract ideas, and scientific based discussion, this episode will both enlighten and worry you. Enjoy the show. Ep069 Tommy Caldwell - Free Climb of El Capitan in Yosemite - Dedication vs Unhealthy Obsession
There is a level of sacrifice that some can’t even fathom losing. We unwrap the amazing documentary on Netflix called “The Dawn Wall” starring Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson where a perfect example of sacrifice, dedication and obsession resulted in achieving the unimaginable - free climbing El Capitan in Yosemite. In today’s show we discuss what it truly requires to be great, amazing, the best in the world, the stuff of legacy. But what exactly is the cost? There’s always a cost. Whether you like it or don’t believe it, it's damn true! The boys poise the question to each other on what being ultra dedicated and obsessed about achieving a landmark goal really means. The countless hours, meticulous planning and above all, the ultimate sacrifices that take place. Would you be willing to put your obsession above things like your partner? Your kids? Financial impacts? What about those people that take the ride with you? Is there sacrifice to allow you to accomplish your dream a bigger achievement than yours? All discussed, true JTW style. Ep068 Elizabeth "Beth" Harmon - Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) - Our Opinion
In today’s show the boys start off by giving the short Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit, a mini review. With the series centred around the use of performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), we go on a journey by discussing the relationship and stigma surrounding PED’s as they relate to different sports and industries. It’s common knowledge that PED’s are banned in sports, but why aren’t performers in the arts and music industry subjected to the same scrutiny and drug testing that athletes are? We ask the important questions around why some sports and crafts are subjected to drug testing while others are not. Enjoy the show! In today’s first show for 2021 the boys discuss Jake Paul’s audacious attempt to lure Conor McGregor into a boxing bout and all the stupidity that surrounds it! We thought it was over with Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather, but it seems not. Ivan tells a shitty story and shares his continuous love affair with the outdoors and its temptations, Daniel shares his 2021 attempt to slow down and be even more present with his two boys and how much he’s loving it. Oh and Ivan purchases a Swedish Knife (Mora a.k.a. Morakniv) and Daniel asks Ivan a “how do you like your steak” question!!! Welcome back Fam, enjoy!!! Ep064 Stupid - Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul - The end of legitimacy in boxing?
In the latest sporting / entertainment news circling the world Logan Paul is set to verse Floyd Mayweather in a so called exhibition bout. To top it off Jake Paul has also challenged Conor McGregor. The boys have a discussion (or more appropriately, a rant) about the upcoming potentially embarrassing event. More importantly we ask the serious question everyone should be asking - where has the power of legitimacy gone? We understand it’s very much entertainment these days, but at what cost? No doubt people will time into the event but is this trend setting a precedent? Do you think it’ll distort standard values, ethics and professionalism in sport? Is this maybe a good thing? One way or another it’s going to be one wacky ride from here on in. Enjoy the show! Ep063 The hidden beauty behind distractions
In this weeks' episode of the show we discuss distractions, speed humps and all those unwanted events that perhaps take you off course from your goals. Whether those goals are work, business or life orientated, they can be distractions. We explore, however, if they really are distractions or could it possibly be a blessing in disguise? This is truly a case-by-case issue and it generally can be a sensitive one, but in general if we all applied a different mindset, one that we will explore during this episode, they could be one of your biggest superpowers.  Regardless whether it's a positive or a negative one, you can use these distractions and implore humility, courage, fearlessness and a true understanding of empathy. Ep062 The fine line between authenticity and your facade
In this episode the boys discuss the impact of always striving and aiming to become your authentic self at all times. But for various reasons, for our own protection, we always create a facade. Facades are generally there for protection and overtime we “if” we feel comfortable we slowly reveal our authentic selves. But what if you can’t? You're stuck! You’ve created an alter ego! People love your facade, but you hate it... you're exhausted! How do you get out? Naturally it’s case by case. But a lot of the time it could be a personality clash, sometimes you yourself could be the problem. Aiming for authenticity is the gold standard. But sometimes being your authentic self from the get go may have some negative backlash. In general there’s a feeling out process. A great back and forth in true JTW style. Enjoy!!! Ep061 We revisit the greatest movies and TV shows of ALL TIME
In today’s episode we revisit an original topic back in episode 5. Ivan and Daniel often are quite reflective men. They are advocates to the fact that nostalgia nourishes the soul. What better way to nourish the soul than to look back at our favourite TV shows and movies. Magnum PI, Knight Rider, rocketeer, dragon ball, anime, Pokémon, Chuck Norris and many more.... oh and how could we forget the godfather of action, Sylvester Stallone... enjoy About the podcast: Journey to Wherever is a weekly podcast by two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, getting together to record discussions that shouldn't be left unsaid. Ep060 The fine line between your safety net and your destiny
In today’s episode the boys discuss how your safety net has an impact on how your decisions are shaped. If you have something to fall back on then you're likely to take that risk. But if you don’t have one or a very shallow one you're unlikely to make bold moves. But what if you took matters into your own hands, held yourself accountable, made sure you were in the driver's seat and weren’t dependent on others, would your decisions still be altered? Will they be bold? Or daring? Will you play it safe or will you finally understand what it takes to make true decisions regardless of how safe your safety net is or how shallow it may perceive to be? Ep058 When to know someone's loyal, or not?
In today’s episode the boys discuss all aspects of loyalty. But interestingly enough, what if loyalty was a deceptive tactic to gain what you wanted? What if loyalty was a smokescreen to comfortability? Do people choose to say that loyalty is one of their “strengths” only because they’re not ambitious enough to try something new? Overall we understand that loyalty is earned and not given and that it’s an amazing attribute… BUT what if there was something else to the term loyalty? Let's go on a journey and unpack the idea. In this weeks' newest episode of Journey to Wherever we dive into the somewhat controversial topic of kids (and adults alike) and their freedom to use social media. We explore various areas ranging from allowing them to freely create content for the internet, whether it be YouTube, TikTok, Instagram etc. We unwrap what it means to hold them back from creating content and the impact it could have on their future successes in an ever evolving technological world. This episode is important for parents and non-parents alike and offers insights and some techniques to approach the topic safely and effectively. Lastly, we drop a bombshell of an idea for a willing high school teen who is looking for a side hustle content idea - if they are willing to put in the work, the opportunity is there for the taking. Enjoy the show! About the podcast: Journey to Wherever is a weekly podcast by two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, getting together to record discussions that shouldn't be left unsaid. Ep056 Entertaining Nostalgia Nourishes the Soul
In this episode, a remote one, the pandemic strikes in Sydney again. In today’s show the boys get nostalgic. Not only that, we explore what nostalgia brings - love, heartache, reminiscence, joy, laughter, and everything in between. Why is that when we purposely get nostalgic the flood of emotions come rushing in? The boys argue that getting nostalgic is even good for the soul on a weekly basis, almost nourishing it. Nostalgia brings happiness and also keeps you grounded. Not all nostalgic moments are the best, but one thing is for sure... at least you can look back, enjoy, reminisce, and then realise that you can now look forward and enjoy life and repeat this process over and over again. Life is good. Enjoy the show! Ep055 When to know you're talented, or not?
In this episode the boys start off talking about the current state of things that go beyond funny that it becomes stupid funny. It’s so bad, that it’s funny. But as they do, the show takes a quick left turn and they discuss at length about the challenges of the denial of not being good enough! Should you have the rite to tell someone that they’re not good enough? Should you keep trying or does the realisation finally kick in and you come to terms with the fact that someone has done you a huge favour, or have they? Is it fuel to succeed or is there a hidden lesson? Like always, enjoy the show! Ep054 The strange power of 'Trash Talk' (and one year birthday show!)
In today’s episode the boys explore the history of talking trash! In other words, psyching your opponent out. Who does it best? Connor McGregor, Mohammed Ali, Presidents? Are you an 'actions speak louder than words' person or do you talk your opponent down? Whichever you prefer, wherever the setting is, it's a plausible technique. Having a psychological edge on someone else, especially on a competitive standpoint is huge. But we go further - we explore why today’s modern society is drawn to the back and forth debate. If anything trash talk sells. Trash talk creates discussion and trash talk may even influence your decision on who to put your money on. In a ring, in the office, in an octagon, in politics or even on stage. We discuss the in and outs of “trash talking”. About the podcast: Journey to Wherever is a weekly podcast by two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, getting together to record discussions that shouldn't be left unsaid. Ep053 A beacon of hope
Where are our modern day Superheroes? Is it the likes of your Nelson Mandela’s, Mother Theresa’s, Princess Diana and Ghandi’s who are no longer present? This world needs a current beacon of hope! Is the current state of the world scaring the potential of some of these people to rise? Or do these people exist but don’t have a voice large enough due to the anarchy that is unfolding in our current state? The boys from JTW put the “job” description out there for those who are brave enough. We need a beacon of hope. Help us find this person! Ep052 Guest appearance - A podcast in the barbershop
Originally planning to release this episode as a bonus show, we flipped the tables and decided to release this as an official episode this week. We joined our other brother-in-law David (there are a few brother-in-law's clearly) in his 'barbershop' for a mid-week deep and meaningful barbershop chat, aka podcast. After hitting social media and gauging people's thoughts, we're back to give a quick recap post part 1 of our Cancel Culture episode. This leads us down the path to sharing our concerns with the ever apparent whining, whinging and soft culture that is starting to brew. Why is everyone after a shortcut to EVERYTHING!? Why can’t we instil old' fashioned hard work ethics and discipline to get what we truly want? This is not a “how to episode”, this is a “harden the f**k up episode :) By all means the boys aren’t your typical rough and tough Vikings.... Just do the work and have the humility to understand where you need to improve and keep chipping away until you get there... that is it!! Enjoy!! Ep048 Cancel Culture: Part 1
In this episode, the boys discuss the 1st part of our ever expanding cancel culture! What is it? Why it’s happening? And why it may be the demise of our language and how we communicate. Do you feel like your walking on verbal egg shells? Even if your intent isn’t to hurt someone’s feelings? But somehow in today’s society you have to be super careful of what you say. Do you think it’s because people are gathering “troops” in order to pick an argument? Maybe even a fight? It might not even be what you say. It could just be who you work for or the club or company you and your family have supported since you were born. But somehow in todays society in needs to be changed because it “might” offend someone. Even if there is no intent to offend. Just a few of the many questions posed in this episode. Stay tuned for part2, where we get a bit more feedback and explore the intricacies of this topic. Enjoy! Ep047 Anti-climax - when the moment is not what you expect!
In today’s show the boys kick back and have a light hearted show and discuss their anti-climactic moments of their life. What is it about creating such a build up of emotion and expectation in your head that when the moment arrives and it’s not what you expect, you just have this automatic low? Or that time you tell your friends about this amazing place to visit beforehand and it absolutely bombs... you just feel like absolute shit. Maybe the key is to have very little expectation, enjoy the moment and be present. But in the case of this show, have a laugh at our expense and possibly you might have a story of your own that resembles. Either way.. enjoy the show!! Ep045 Irresponsible Parenting
In today’s episode the boys discuss parenting specifically from the ages of 15-20 and the difficult social scenarios that you are dealt with as a parent in these tough times. We always love a good hypothetical, and in today’s show we go through a tonne of them. How much responsibility do you give them? Is it best to parent as a “mate”? Is it truely case by case or is it a flat NO? How much influence is the groundwork of parenting done at an early age? How much should you trust your child’s friends... and the list goes on! Ultimately these scenarios end up on your lap as a parent. How much do you let slide or should you be strict like an army sergeant? Decisions... Decisions.. Enjoy! Ep044 Visionary vs Practicality
In this episode the boys explore wonders of mindset. Particularly those who consider themselves a visionary and those who align more with practicality. There’s neither a right or wrong way to be, but ultimately if you can blend the two it’s the ultimate recipe for success. Why do we procrastinate? How annoying is it when someone ponders on a decision? Just make the bloody decision already! But maybe there’s a method to the madness of procrastination. Just maybe if we delay that decision just a little more, the perfect outcome will arise? But like most things... everything in moderation! If you think too long... you might just miss the boat... In this episode the boys lightly discuss those moments you wish never existed! We revisit the days we got our hearts broken, bad breakups etc. We unwrap how you can overcome being told you're just not good enough....or those days you were told... “look, it’s not you it’s me” type of conversations. We all hate them, but ultimately and unknowingly if you accept these moments and you take ownership and acknowledge these times in your life, it’s generally these lessons that allow you to develop and build yourself and your character. Ep040 The Human Identity Crisis
Why do we hang onto beliefs and certain idiologies even after they have truly and deeply expired within us? In this episode the boys discuss what groups define us and why a majority of the population hang onto these beliefs. Why it’s ok to change your mind and why admitting that through growth and self development we change our views about ourselves and others. The key ingredient of evolution and evolving within, will put you in a position of questioning and affirmation of what you believe in!! We should allow for opinion, we should be allowed to respectively state our thoughts and not be criticised especially if our thoughts are still archaic, and we should take a chill pill and.... f**ken relax... an opinion is exactly that... enjoy! Ep037 Why it's important you FAIL
In this episode we discuss failure and why failure is an integral part of development of one's character, arguably even in all aspects of life. As always we go deep - we dive into describing the feeling of failure and why the “feeling” is what we need the most as opposed to the actual event failing itself. We explore why that feeling of heartache, disappointment, embarrassment etc. is what shapes us. And for that very reason, if you never experience it or at least experienced it minimally, could very well be the sole reason why you’ll FAIL. Ep036 Gary Vaynerchuk - is he wrong? Should we really give it all away for free?
In this episode, Ivan & Daniel discuss business intellectual property (IP). We explore whether giving it all away for free is the right approach as often promoted by important business and entrepreneurial figures such as Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Garyvee, and Kevin Hart. We dive into the “giving” and “documenting” your business ideas and IP vs protecting them.  One wonders whether either approach is a good thing. Some entrepreneurs hold their cards close to their chest while others lay it all on the table. But which is the right way? The debate certainly goes on and the boys in true JTW fashion go on twists and bends in identifying the yay or nay to business IP retention or the open source models. Ep035 A true journey, to wherever
In this episode the boys discuss their journey and the new exciting traction that they are getting with the new listeners coming through... just maybe they’re doing something right. Ivan discusses writer's block and how he continues to learn more and more about his co-host and brother in law, even after almost 18 years of friendship. Daniel expands more about his personal development and how he’s using this podcast platform to better himself, his Sydney based private practice and his overall creativity.  A self reflection episode that comes at a time that the show itself is reaching exciting new heights and in true fashion the conversation takes twists and turns on a Journey to Wherever. Ep034 Elon Musk - Neuralink, Part 2 (and more!)
In a continuation from episode 33 the boys dig deeper... a lot deeper in this episode! They elaborate more on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and play hypotheticals on the way we would communicate in an AI world after the birth of Neuralink. This is an episode that explores behaviour, emotions, communication, relationships and interactions with one another and how that would differ or change when cyborgs “eventually” are integrated in our world. We explore how this will likely impact our digital footprint and how our online interfaces will be established.  In true fashion, in the last portion of the episode, we finish off the show with a detoured journey; Daniel compliments Ivan’s latest blog article “Scared to let go” (http://ivansiladji.com/2020/05/12/scared-to-let-go/). To Ivan's surprise, this article really struck a chord with Daniel and in a powerful and emotional conversation, Daniel begins to explore the concept of vulnerability, encouraging others to show vulnerability more.  Check out the show and read the article. With more listeners joining the journey and contributing to its ideas and topics, Ivan and Daniel seem to be turning a new page in their origin story. Ep033 Elon Musk - Neuralink, Part 1
In today’s episode, Daniel brings up episode #1470 of The Joe Rogan Experience. Elon Musk happened to be the guest and Daniel was intrigued by a multitude of things regarding Elon Musk and his intrinsic personality. Ivan elaborates more about AI and as a neuromuscular therapist, Daniel finds Neuralink very interesting!  We discuss our predictions for mankind and our future, what life will be like for bioengineered humans in the future and the fate of medicine, diseases, and injuries involving nerve damage. For the first time the boys will have a two part episode around the one conversation regarding Elon Musk and his brilliance. Ep032 Morning VS Night People
In today’s episode the boys are FINALLY back in the studio after weeks of lockdown! We go true JTW style and dive deep into discussing the differences between morning people versus night people, how they correlate with structured vs relaxed days, organised vs freely expressive etc. You’d be surprised to know that apart from being co-hosts to the show they actually sit on opposite sides of the fence on this one. Somehow they find the balance to create this journey to wherever. Maybe that’s the key? Enjoy this wide ranging show discovering what type of personality you are and exploring with us how you get your day started and how your day is panned out, whether you're a morning or a night person. Ep031 Dealing with "getting old"
In this week's episode we try and conquer a real challenge, one of which turns out both Daniel and Ivan are facing, and that is the reality of getting old. Now that these two blokes have hit their 30s, the signs are slowly creeping in. You'll be surprised. Daniel brings up concerns about the early signs of ageing based on personal experiences he's recently been facing. His fate was sealed when he found a list on "the internet”, a list he quickly realised he ticks too many of the boxes in. Ivan tried to deny it, but he too realises the same predicament. This episode is for anyone who is starting to feel the signs of aging, even if those signs are coming earlier than you expected. Enjoy the show. Ep030 The Lockdown Rabbit Hole
In this week's episode we discuss a variety of topics around things we've found ourselves doing while we continue on lockdown. Daniel expresses his envy of Ivan’s BBQ game and a new steak recipe. Taking the Journey to Wherever, Daniel shifts focus to try and resolve his decision between getting an Xbox or PS5. Ivan is fully immersed into lockdown, enjoying astronomy, loads of family time and random chats with neighbours (from a distance) regarding their lawns. We are slowly getting used to our remote setting but we'd be lying if we said we weren't excited to be in the studio together soon with our regular recording setup. For now, enjoy another lockdown episode! Ep026 Shows we'll never forget
This episode is certainly a fun and strangely diverse show that starts with Dawson’s Creek and ends with an unexpected comparison of Bondage with things least expected. Stay sharp and attentive as this show takes strange turns. In this episode we look back at the shows that had an impact on us growing up and subsequently to the present day.  We realise that although we have a certain kinship as brother in laws, we couldn’t be anymore different with our own individual taste of TV Shows.  About the podcast: Journey to Wherever is a weekly podcast by two mates who also just happen to be brother-in laws, getting together to record discussions that shouldn't be left unsaid. Ep025 The Science of Small Talk
In the boys longest episode to date, they go deep into the psychology of, and the different scenarios of small talk. We explore how people choose to engage in small talk, some of the tactics used and the general observations of small talkers. We manage to find a link between small talk and aspects of relationship compatibility and why some friendships prosper and why some deep rooted relationships fizzle out without any warning. There is a lot that is covered in this episode and ironically an episode about small talk happens to be our longest episode yet. This one will for sure get you thinking and possibly disagreeing. In this episode the boys discuss their new realities of becoming soccer coaches for the very first time to each of their boys soccer teams. Ep020 Conspiracy Theories
Okay... to be honest? This is probably one of the most left field episodes the boys have done to date. The boys casually bring up why society is obsessed with a conspiracy theory and all the psychological behaviours associated with it. It kind of goes deep, true to their conversational style - until it takes random turns where the boys talk drugs and psychedelics and all other random stuff. A conversational episode with flow.... exactly what these brothers-in-law do best... enjoy. Ep019 Expectations vs Reality
In this episode the boys discuss how expectations often misguide the reality of your journey, whatever that maybe. The boys agree that being present, patient and true to yourself enables your journey to be as real as it gets. We often have a vision of where we want things to be and through a lack of patience and potential unrealistic expectation we are then left picking up the pieces. An insightful episode with pure and honest evaluation of themselves and where the world should be. Ep018 Customer service NIGHTMARES
In this episode, Ivan and Daniel reflect on their experiences on the receiving end of customer service in an ever competitive marketplace. Be it with fast food, retail or with some of the largest brands in the world, each having their weaknesses which could inevitably see their failure. We explore the importance of good customer service, its importance in the connection to people and most importantly its implication in a winning or losing brand. The boys have a bit of fun with past experiences and give their take on what should and shouldn’t be happening. Daniel pokes the bear (Ivan) and towards the end of the show it kind of spirals out of control, ultimately to the point where Ivan loses the plot... enjoy. Ep014 Celebrating our wins and the best podcasting business idea of the century
In this light hearted episode the boys look back on moments during their own lives in which they experienced or witnessed a great comeback story or a true winning moment. Some wins are simple wins, others could only of happened through the perfect alignment of coincidence, luck and being in the right place at the right time. Be it in school, sports, work or life itself, we all have wins and a comeback story to tell. Ep013 Do you suffer from 'Superman Syndrome'?
This episode, despite Ivan’s initial excitement, isnt about the actual superhero Superman! Instead Daniel explores a potential “tongue in cheek” psychological diagnosis that he’s been discussing with his patients (that also happen to be psychologists themselves). This so called ' Superman Syndrome' is something he has been deliberating himself for a very long time and now wants to share it with the listeners of the podcast. The boys deconstruct the syndrome and discover how there’s probably a few more factors that come into play that could very well support the so-called condition and possibly why we probably shouldn’t attempt to cure it. Ep012 Do kids need trophies?
In this episode the boys talk about the necessity of participation trophies and awards. We debate as to whether they are bad and what damage it is causing our future generation. We breakdown some of the reasons why schools have gone down the path of handing out 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards, participation awards, ribbons and 8th place trophies. We explore the roadblocks ahead and evaluate what impact this has on our children. As with most episodes, we try and uncover the "why's" by exploring the fine intricacies and the psychological triggers that lead to this type of “award” system. This is an insightful epsiode that will most likely have you wanting to pick a side. No room for fence sitting on this one! Ep011 The daddy daycare episode
In this episode Ivan Siladji and Daniel Ribeiro courageously attempt to record a podcast episode whilst doing a daddy daycare weekend while their wives are away on a work trip. It doesn’t completely go to plan. On the flip though, they unofficially and unintentionally have their first “guests” of the show... their children. A fun and light hearted episode with no real structure but a true showing of the perseverance of two dads maintaining their consistency of this weekly podcast to their loyal listeners. The plus side is you get to hear the sweet little squeaky voices of our beautiful children. We do try to stay loyal to the show and squeeze in value wherever we can, particularly if you're a parent, but don't expect a life transformation, maybe settle for a laugh. Ep008 What is a Multipotentialite?
Daniel Ribeiro and Ivan Siladji explore what it means to be a Multipotentialite. You may have heard of the term renaissance, polymath or even 'jack of all trades', but what about a Multipotentialite? What is a Multipotentialite? What does it mean to be one? How do you identify as one? Better yet, could you be a Multipotentialite?  Daniel takes on an interview style approach to exploring the multipotentiality identity of Ivan, throwing questions his way to give our listeners a first hand look at what it means to be a Multipotentialite, what are the patterns to look out for which could suggest you are one and we approach those boundaries that may blur the lines between a multipotentialite and someone who’s just a quitter or compulsive procrastinator. Ep007 Why did you STOP being a vegan?
We all have them, and Daniel and Ivan are no exception -- pet peeves, pet hates, things that straight up get you going. In this week's episode the boys open a can of worms and let loose on their pet peeves may come as no surprise, others are left field, surprising each other. After we get our pet hates off the table, we answer another fan question this week, aimed at Ivan; "Why were you vegan, how did you feel while vegan and why did you quit veganism?". Enjoy the show! Ep002 Does a university degree still have value?
In this episode, Ivan and Daniel break down the stresses of choosing a tertiary education. We uncover how the school system may be failing you and why parents and carers need to make a conscious decision on being more proactive in their child’s lives. We take a deep dive into why acquiring a Student Loan may set you back further than you think. We delve into what to do when you finish school and why it’s not the end of the world if you don't get into course/career you initially want. We ask the question whether parents and schools are asking too much out of 17 year olds to decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives and finally we shift the focus on the parents and why they, and teachers, need to up their game! This episode is both empathetic and factual, exploring the trials and tribulations of deciding on your tertiary education, if any.
